Michael Sharkey, CEO and co-founder of Ortto, comments:

“Everyone recognizes the importance of data in building better, more personalized customer experiences, but the problem is, for many businesses, this data is located across a number of different tools and isn’t easily accessible to marketers. That’s why we rebuilt our platform to make it easy to bring all of that data together in one place and remove the barriers to entry, so marketers have ready access to the data they need without having to lodge a ticket or learn SQL. The response to the new platform has been incredible – not only from our Autopilot customers, who are realizing new value through Ortto, but also from new customers who have come on board in the past year.”

Enter the Era of Immersive Audio with the Sonos Era 100 & Sonos Era 300

Sonos is entering a new era of audio in more than one way with its new Era 100 and Era 300 speakers. The new line brings an immersive audio experience to a lineup of devices made for audiophiles. It also marries the simplicity of design that Sonos is known for with bold new features that have never been on Sonos’s mainline products.

Sonos Era 300: Immersive Audio for the Audiophile

The new Era 300 brings Dolby Atmos into a single speaker and ups the immersion when paired with other Sonos audio products like the Arc. The Sonos Era 300 comes with six powerful drivers that send the sound in all directions enveloping the space and listener in an immersive soundstage.

Sonos Era 300

The speaker has been designed to deliver a crisp and immersive audio experience which is enhanced by its complex acoustic architecture. The six drivers are positioned to deliver audio in all directions with two tweeters positioned outwards, to the sides, a single forward firing mid tweeter and a sub. All of these are loaded into a sleek, clenched hourglass body. The hourglass body also comes with a revamped user interface which comes with a tactile strip for volume control.

The performance of the Sonos Era 300 is further enhanced when pairing the speaker with a Sonos Arc or Beam (Gen 2). The new setup allows Sonos to finally deliver a complete theatre experience with 7.4.2 sound. You’ll be taken into your content and placed in the middle of the action with the new Era 300’s Dolby Atmos audio.

  • Sonos Era 300 06
  • Sonos Era 300 07
  • Sonos Era 300 08
  • Sonos Era 300 09

Speaking of pairing, the Sonos Era 300 comes with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Also along for the ride is a combo USB-C port which allows you to connect a USB-enabled storage or line in for playback and also for a direct line to your router. This comes, in addition, to support for Apple AirPlay 2 and WiFi 6.

Sonos Era 100: The Sonos One Remastered for Immersive Audio

Yes, Immersive audio is the word for the Sonos Era lineup. The Sonos Era 100 brings the best Sonos has to offer into the familiar form factor of the Sonos One. The sleek, compact cylindrical form factor packs a whole load more power than the Sonos One though.

Sonos Era 100

The new Era 100 comes with stereo sound out of the box with two angled tweeters and a larger midwoofer. The combination delivers crisp high frequencies and a fuller bass for true sound immersion. Designed to be powerfully compact, the Era 100 will seamlessly blend into your home and deliver well-rounded, full audio.

  • Sonos Era 100 3
  • Sonos Era 100 6
  • Sonos Era 100 7

  • Sonos Era 100 9

Just like its bigger sibling, the Era 300, the Sonos Era 100 comes with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, support for Apple AirPlay 2 and WiFi 6 support. It also sports a USB-C port for ethernet, line-in and USB connectivity. It also shares the new revamped on-device user experience with the tactile strip for volume control.

Sonos TruePlay Comes to Android Devices

One of Sonos’s signature features has been locked to iOS for the longest time. TruePlay, the technology which customises your Sonos sound experience uniquely to fit your space is finally coming to Android. It does this by measuring how sound reflects off the walls and furnishings in your space and fine-tunes the Sonos speakers to deliver the best audio quality. Initially, this was only possible via the on-device mics of the iPhone.

However, with the new Era series, the capability is being built-in into the Sonos Era speakers themselves. The Sonos Era 300 and Era 100 come with mics which enable voice control via Sonos voice and Amazon Alexa. These mics are also being used by Sonos to enable TruePlay for Android devices. So, instead of relying on the on-device mics in Android devices, Sonos is bypassing the complexity of coding for hundreds of devices by relying on the built-in mic of the Sonos Era speakers.

If you’re worried about your privacy, both the Sonos Era 100 and the Sonos Era 300 come with physical kill switches to “disconnect” the mic.

Pricing & Availability

The Sonos Era 300 and Sonos Era 100 are available for pre-order starting 7th March 2023 at 10 p.m. In Malaysia and Singapore, you will be able to order them from the TC Acoustic website. Internationally, you’ll be able to place your orders at Sonos’s official website.

Both the 300 and 100 will be available in Black and White. The Era 300 will be priced at MYR2,799 while the Era 100 will be priced at MYR1,599. Both of them will be available on shelves starting 28th March 2023.

Cloud Packet Core Revenue to Grow from US$11 Billion in 2022 to US$16 Billion in 2027

LONDON, March 7, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — 5G core (5GC) network marks the first ‘G’ that paves the way for CSPs to operate solely in the software layer. Cloud-native EPC functions and 5GC are key drivers for new telecom value creation. With the ongoing adoption of cloudified packet core networks, it is the first time the industry has relied on the core network to introduce something above and beyond enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB). According to a new report from global technology intelligence firm ABI Research, cloud packet core revenue will grow from US$11 billion in 2022 to US$16 billion in 2027.

In a modular and increasingly disaggregated ecosystem characterized by ‘vertical’ and ‘horizontal’ openness, technology choices for software, hardware, and services that underpin packet core buildouts are fundamental for BT, Orange, Telefónica, and Vodafone, among other CSPs, to expand existing MBB business and explore new business opportunities. Global technology intelligence firm ABI Research forecasts that, for MBB, core network application software is expected to grow from US$4.8 billion in 2022 to US$6.6 billion in 2027 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6%.

“Today, much of the traffic going through the packet core is handled via physical network elements. With a growing 5G subscriber base and ongoing adoption of 5GC, the expectation is that 4G traffic shifts to 5G networks,” explains Don Alusha, 5G Core and Edge Networks Senior Analyst at ABI Research. “That, in addition to a rapid proliferation of software-fueled advances, means that today’s classic model for packet core equipment sales will likely take a different structure tomorrow.” What drives that point home is that hardware sales for packet core networks are expected to reach US$3.9 billion in 2027, not a significant growth from the current market valued at US$3.5 billion in 2022. With an ongoing cloudification of packet core networks, the commercial imperative for vendors like Cisco, HPE, and Juniper, among others, is stark: depart from a finite supply of integrated equipment to models based on software where the supply is essentially infinite.

Further, new value stands to be created in professional services. ABI Research forecasts that packet core services are expected to grow from US$3 billion in 2022 to US$5.2 billion in 2027 at a CAGR of 12%. “There is a growing market for services to help CSPs manage 5G rollouts driven by hardware and software separation, multi-vendor stacks, and expanded business scope drive. In that order. With 3G and 4G, packet core services revolve around one supplier providing their own software and hardware in an integrated fashion to ensure feature alignment, performance, and lifecycle management,” says Alusha. But going forward, with cloud packet core, the industry structure stands to be horizontally stratified. So, the supplier of the future will need to aid CSPs in all aspects of technology – from defining network architecture to managing workloads to building applications potentially coming from diverse suppliers.

The rules of buying and selling packet core are changing. How suppliers build products, drive revenue, the services they offer, and what they do to succeed in an increasingly cloudified ecosystem are all on the table. “For the next few years, the likes of Cisco, HPE, and Juniper must execute a ‘do both’ model. They need to run the current product playbook and layer in a new software-based selling strategy in line with new economic realities, Alusha advises. Ultimately, suppliers must help, not sell. Helping will sell, but selling will not help. Helping requires strong system integration and services capabilities. In addition, the market is becoming more complex and riskier. Success will go to the fittest – not necessarily the biggest -because “bigness” is weakened by commoditization. Innovation in the process – how things get done internally – will be as important as innovation in packet core products that vendors sell,” Alusha concludes.

These findings are from ABI Research’s Network Cloud Infrastructure market data report. This report is part of the company’s 5G Core & Edge Networks research service, which includes research, data, and analyst insights. Based on extensive primary interviews, Application Analysis reports present an in-depth analysis of key market trends and factors for a specific technology.

FUJIFILM Launches INSTAX UP! Smartphone App, Because an INSTAX Camera Alone is Not Enough

The INSTAX cameras are a lot of fun. In any social gathering, the INSTAX camera and printer can capture great memories and you can physically keep the photos for these occasions and start a collection. There is only one issue, with most INSTAX cameras, there is no way for you to digitally store the photos. This is where INSTAX UP! app comes in.

It is not another camera app. You do not need another camera app on your smartphone, since most modern smartphones offer better than ever camera experiences today. But it still does rely on using your smartphone’s camera.

Instead of capturing the regular things like portrait or objects in street photography, it captures your INSTAX print outs. It can even recognize the type of print you are using including mini, SQUARE, and WIDE films. To ensure that the digital copy is free of all sorts of blemish, the app automatically reduces glare on the photos in challenging conditions. You can even adjust the contrast, brightness, and even colour vividness and temperature after capturing the photos. All that is then stored in your smartphone digitally so that you can reprint the image using an INSTAX printer if you want.

There are more you can do with your INSTAX photos now with the INSTAX UP! app. There is a new ‘photo in photo’ mode. You can take the print and put it against a backdrop of a scenery or other photos to be shared across social media directly from the app itself. You can even compile your favourite photos within the app. While compiling your collection, you can shake the app to mimic the INSTAX films being tossed around in a box. You can even share this collection with your friends directly from the app.

The app even allows you to choose how you want to view your INSTAX photos. You can keep it neat and organized in the ‘list view’ mode. Or, if you do not mind a little bit of chaos, there is the ‘box view’ mode that makes it look like you tossed your INSTAX films all into a box. You can also find a few ‘tips and tricks’ from the app itself in taking photos and portraits that will look good on and INSTAX films or even how to spice up your home and room with INSTAX products.

  • INSTAX UP USE CASE 1
  • INSTAX UP USE CASE 2
  • INSTAX UP USE CASE 3
  • INSTAX UP USE CASE 4
  • INSTAX UP USE CASE 5
  • INSTAX UP UI 1
  • INSTAX UP UI 2
  • INSTAX UP UI 3
  • INSTAX UP UI 4

The app is now available for free on Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. The app, as mentioned, is compatible with any INSTAX film and photos that has been printed. Again, it is not a camera app. You can find out more about the INSTAX UP! and other products from their website.

Touch ‘n Go eWallet is at its Most Secure State Ever with 5 New Measures

Touch ‘n Go should not be an unfamiliar name to Malaysians or residents of Malaysia. They are technically the first company in Malaysia to introduce cashless transactions via their Touch ‘n Go prepaid cards for tolls and later for public transportations. They were not the first to introduce an eWallet app for Malaysia, probably one of the latest. At their current state though, they are one of the most widely used eWallet apps in Malaysia.

As one of the most widely adopted eWallet in Malaysia, security and safety in transactions and storing money is a bigger concern than ever before. Even with various digital banking systems in place, scams and fraud activities still can happen. In that regards, Touch ‘n Go has introduced five measures in accordance to Bank Negara of Malaysia’s latest mandatory guidelines for banks to combat fraud and scams on their own platform.

Venturing Beyond Passwords

photo 2023 03 07 15 00 29

The first of the five measures implemented by Touch ‘n Go is to move beyond one-time password (OTP) systems to more secure systems. For Touch ‘n Go, that more secure system is through face verification. Facial recognition, as a security measure, is nothing new. It has been a security system that has been introduced on Android smartphones for a long time now and has been made better with each iteration and new technologies. In leveraging a modern smartphone’s camera system, the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app now requires a particular user’s face for app logins, PIN changes, and even perform transactions. They also require users to blink when using the feature just to make sure that offenders are not just using a photo of the user to access the app.

Tighter Fraud Detection and Blocking

photo 2023 03 07 14 58 33

Fraud detection has been a large part of operating digital payment systems. Even banks have their own ways and guidelines in handling fraudulent transactions. To ensure they can prevent fraudulent transactions, they have placed a few guidelines and rules to transactions. In some cases, transaction limits are set to prevent certain transactions from happening.

In accordance with the latest guidelines from Bank Negara Malaysia, Touch ‘n Go have implemented new rule sets for transactions. According to Touch ‘n Go, the new rule sets are tighter than before. There is also a new set of thresholds for transactions that will trigger alerts from the app. If any abnormal activities are tracked, an email alert will be sent out to users. Users still can set transaction limits too, in case of transactions where the set limit is breached, users will need to verify the transactions further.

One Device, One Account

photo 2023 03 07 14 58 27

While it is not a unique feature at this point, you can only attach your Touch ‘n go eWallet account to a single device. That means that even if you have two smartphones, you can only use your Touch ‘n Go eWallet on one of your devices. You cannot have both devices logged into the eWallet too.

They also introduced a feature called TapSecure on the app. The feature requires users to authenticate and verify transactions via the app. The feature can only be attached to one users’s linked device for transaction approvals within the user’s account.

Still Getting Through Toll Gates

photo 2023 03 07 14 58 19

All the new measures point to ensuring that users verify themselves before making any sort of transactions. There is a problem, however. Touch ‘n Go eWallet has been adopted to work with toll gate payments in Malaysia. If the measures are also implemented for toll payments, toll gates could be backed up.

In that sense, Touch ‘n Go is only implementing the security and verification measures based on their risk assessment. For low-risk transactions like toll gate payments, verification will not be required. There are also other low risk transactions implemented within Touch ‘n Go that will not trigger the security measures.

If you are logging into your eWallet for the first time on a new device, there will be a number of limitations to the app usage and transaction limit too within the first 48 hours. That limit also includes topping up the eWallet. Any transactions and top ups that is not within the limit will be rejected outrightly.

Easier to Reach

photo 2023 03 07 14 58 30

To bolster the effort in fraud prevention, Touch ‘n Go has also set up their own dedicated channel for fraud and scam reports. The call center will be based out of the National Scam Response Centre, Malaysia’s own fraud and scam response unit and center. The dedicated channel links you directly to a specialized team that will attend to any fraud or scam cases or queries. You can reach them at +603-5022 3888 and select “4” to make any fraud or scam reports.

Eoptolink Launches Innovative 800G Linear-drive Pluggable Optics During OFC 2023

CHENGDU, China and FREMONT, Calif., March 6, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Eoptolink Technology Inc., Ltd. (SZSE: 300502), a leading provider of optical transceiver solutions and services, announced today the launch of 800G Linear-drive Pluggable Optics (LPO).

800G LPOs are designed without DSPs or CDRs, resulting in significantly lower power consumption and dramatically reduce latency compared to conventional DSP based solutions. The reduction in latency has become a key driver for the growing demand for LPOs in applications such as switch-to-switch, switch-to-server, and GPU-to-GPU connectivity in Machine Learning and High-Performance Computing.

Eoptolink’s LPO portfolio consists of modules for both multimode and singlemode applications. For multimode fiber applications, portfolio includes 800G LPO based on VCSEL technology. For single mode fiber applications, LPO transceivers are available based on Silicon Photonics, EMLs, and Thin-film Lithium Niobate modulators. These modules will be offered in both OSFP and QSFP-DD800 form factors.

“LPOs without a DSP chip enable a new suite of optical transceiver products using only linear analog components in the data link, leading to lower power and lower link latency”, said Mr. Sean Davies, VP of US Sales at Eoptolink.

“LPOs providing high bandwidth connectivity with less power and less cost than today’s solutions are a benefit to Mega data center market in general” said Richard Huang, CEO Eoptolink. “They offer measurable cost savings in mega data center operations and enable latency sensitive application in AI and ML. Eoptolink’s innovative approach will enable its customers to improve their network performance.”

Live demonstrations of Eoptolink LPOs will be shown at OFC 2023, San Diego, CA, booth 3327 from March 7th to 9th.

No Budget, No Worries – Acer’s Nitro QG0 Gaming Monitors Starts at MYR 379

Buying a gaming PC set-up is an exciting thing. You tend to get excited though. You tend to spend the bulk of your money on the tower for your gaming PC, which is not wrong. You do want to spend most of your budget getting a PC set-up that will last you the next few years and fit within your budget. The problem is when you spend nearly all your money there, you do not have much left to spend on other things that will make your gaming set-up work.

In those cases, your budget only allows you to buy a cheap monitor that is not designed for gaming, a regular mouse, and a regular keyboard. Here is the thing though, if you have MYR 400 set aside for your monitor, you still can get a gaming monitor. For MYR 379, you can get an Acer Nitro QG0 series gaming monitor.

The Acer Nitro QG0 series is not just any regular poor quality gaming monitor for the masses. It is designed with budget in mind, yes; it is also built with enjoyment and gamers in mind. Of course, you want to tamper your expectations a little bit.

You have two sizes to choose from – 27-inch and 24-inch. You do not get an IPS panel at this price, you instead get VA panels on the monitors. Still, that is not exactly a bad thing.

Across the three monitors they just introduced for 2023, the QG0 series monitors all offer 95% in sRGB colour gamut. While you do not get the vivid colour quality from IPS or OLED panels, you still get rather saturated and somewhat accurate colours from the monitor. In that case, games and movies will still look acceptably good on whichever Ntiro QG0 monitors you choose.

They are all fast panels too. The 27-inchQG270S3 and 24-inch QG240YS3 offer 1ms in response time. The QG240YH3 is a little slower at 4ms, but it is no slouch either at that speed. They also offer 180Hz and 100Hz refresh rates respectively, faster than the more premium Nitro VG270 E monitor. All the Nitro QG0 monitors comes with HDR10 certification too. All of them also comes with AMD’s FreeSync feature allowing for tear-free gaming.

While all of them only offer an old-school Full HD resolution, they include a DisplayPort on top of an HDMI port to fit more modern gaming set-ups. They also have an audio pass through feature via an Audio-Out 3.5mm jack. If you need something to fit your old system, the QG240YH3 comes with a VGA port rather than a DisplayPort.

  • Nitro QG270S3 QG240YS3 Front
  • Nitro QG240YH3 01
  • Nitro QG240YH3 3
  • Nitro QG240YH3 Left
  • Nitro QG270S3 QG240YS3 1
  • Nitro QG270S3 QG240YS3 Left
  • Nitro QG270S3 QG240YS3 2
  • Nitro QG270S3 QG240YS3 3
  • Nitro QG270S3 QG240YS3 Right

The Acer Nitro QG0 series is now available in Malaysia. You can get your hands on one from Acer stores, authorised partners, their online store, and even their online retaile partners like Shopee and Lazada. The VG240YH3 24-inch 100Hz monitor starts at MYR 379. If you prefer higher refresh rates, the 24-inch QG240YS3 will retail fro MYR 499, and the 27-inch QG270S3 will be priced at MYR 589. For more information on the new Acer Nitro monitors, you can head over to their website.
