Seoul Semiconductor’s WICOP Bi-Color LEDs Are Shining in the Headlamp of Audi A4 Model Year 2020

ANSAN, South Korea, Sept. 22, 2020 — Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. ("Seoul") (KOSDAQ 046890), a leading global innovator of LED products and technology, announced that it has supplied WICOP Bi-color (2 colors in one package) LED products for the daytime running lights and front turn signals of the 2020 Audi A4 (B9 facelift) headlamp.

This is the first example of Seoul Semiconductor’s WICOP product being mounted on an Audi headlamp. WICOP Bi-color LED is a core patented technology of Seoul Semiconductor that realizes both white and yellow in one package. It is designed to directly mount the LED chip on the board without additional package.

"Due to the narrow space between the light emitting surfaces of the bi-color LED, it is technically beneficial to light up one cavity with yellow for turn and white for DRL. This advantage opens up the possibility of slimmer headlamp designs," said Dr. Michael Hamm, the head of development headlamps of Audi.

In the meantime Seoul Semiconductor has already developed the more compact WICOP Gen2 mini bi-color emitter while including the advantages of the existing WICOP in combination with even slimmer footprint.

"The [WICOP Gen2] family has been developed as a light source suitable for automobile main functions, daytime running lights and turn indicators. Actually we are developing [WICOP UHL (Ultra High Luminance)] with excellent high luminance and heat dissipation performance for the next generation of slim headlamps. Accordingly, European headlamp customer inquiries for our innovative products have increased and we have been engaged with customers in more than 20 headlamp projects for next generation cars," said In Heum Park, vice president of automotive division of Seoul Semiconductor.

WICOP technology is widely applied not only to vehicle lighting, but also to high-brightness TVs and LCD backlights for mobile phones, flash for smartphone cameras, and high-power general lighting, as it has excellent thermal conductivity and is easy to configure light, thin and compact lenses.

Third UNESCO Creative Cities Beijing Summit Calls for Open and Inclusive International Cooperation across Regions

BEIJING, Sept. 22, 2020 — With the theme of "Creativity empowers cities, technology creates the future", the Third UNESCO Creative Cities Beijing Summit, organized by Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, explored how culture, creativity, and technology can enhance urban city management. The summit participants stressed the importance of international cooperation across regions.

"Digitalization has been a major game-changer and will certainly remain a key component of a new normal," said Lamia Kamal-Chaoui, Director of the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, Small & Medium Enterprises, Regions and Cities. "Many cities have adopted smart city tools, especially to deliver municipal service.

"Cities also have the opportunity to reconsider their tourism growth models and explore alternatives to large-scale tourism, by taking advantage of technology to showcase over-visited global attractions and promoting local industries."

Since Beijing was designated a UNESCO City of Design in 2012, its creative industry has become a new source of economic growth. The transformation of Shougang No. 3 Blast-Furnace – the venue of this summit – from a steel structure in an industrial park into an open space for the public, closely aligns with UNESCO’s mission and priorities.

Advocating for an open and inclusive city cooperation environment, many leaders stressed the importance of international cooperation during the summit.

Virginia Raggi, Mayor of Rome, stated, "We focus on urban regeneration as a factor in improving the well-being of residents and tourists, and strongly believe in international collaboration. Multilateralism and reciprocity represent the founding values of our democracy."

"If something was clear to all of us, it is that ‘no one can be saved alone’," said Enrique Avogadro, Minister of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires. "We have a unique opportunity to build a new reality and a future different from the one we had in mind. And more importantly, we can do it collectively, listening and giving space to all voices and ideas."

About the Third UNESCO Creative Cities Beijing Summit

The third UNESCO Creative Cities Beijing Summit is held in Beijing during September 17-18, 2020. The summit provides an international platform for discussion and networking, bringing together a diverse set of urban stakeholders, including Mayors and policymakers, representatives from UN agencies, academics and experts, as well as innovators and entrepreneurs. For more information on the summit, click here.

JinkoSolar Announces Strategic Plan of its Subsidiary to Access China’s Capital Markets

SHANGRAO, China, Sept. 21, 2020 — JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. ("JinkoSolar") (NYSE: JKS), one of the largest and most innovative solar module manufacturers in the world, today announced that its board of directors has approved a strategic plan to access China’s capital markets through its principal operating subsidiary Jinko Solar Co., Ltd. ("Jiangxi Jinko").

JinkoSolar is considering the opportunity to list Jiangxi Jinko, after certain intragroup restructuring, on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s Sci-Tech innovation board (the "STAR Market"), an exchange intended to support innovative companies in China, within the next three years.

To qualify Jiangxi Jinko for a STAR Market listing and to raise additional capital to support its continuous expansion, the board has also approved an equity financing of Jiangxi Jinko, under which certain China-based reputable third-party investors, JinkoSolar’s founders, Xiande Li, Kangping Chen and Xianhua Li, and senior management personnel have agreed to invest an aggregate of RMB 3.1 billion (approximately US$ 458 million) into Jiangxi Jinko for an aggregate of 26.7% equity interest in Jiangxi Jinko. The transaction has been negotiated at arm’s length at a pre-money valuation of Jiangxi Jinko’s equity value of RMB 8.5 billion (approximately US$1.26 billion), which is 15.6% higher than JinkoSolar’s market capitalization on September 18, 2020, and 45.4% higher than JinkoSolar’s average market capitalization for the 90 days preceding September 18, 2020. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed by the end of October 2020.

Mr. Kangping Chen, Chief Executive Officer of JinkoSolar, commented, "Listing Jiangxi Jinko on the STAR Market will enable it to access a new source of growth capital, which we believe will ultimately strengthen our leading position in the solar module industry and support our continuous growth over the long run. We believe the listings of JinkoSolar on the New York Stock Exchange and Jiangxi Jinko on the STAR Market will raise our profile with investors both in China and globally and provide us with additional opportunities to grow in the future."

Whether Jiangxi Jinko is able to be successfully listed on the STAR Market, the timing of the listing, and its valuation upon listing will depend on various factors, including but not limited to capital market conditions in China and globally, the regulatory environment for listed securities, Jiangxi Jinko’s business and financial performance and its fulfillment of the listing requirements in China.
