CES 2021 “Clean Air on the Go”, LUFTQI’s Portable Air Purifier is an Essential Part of “New Normal”

TAIPEI, Jan. 19, 2021 — LUFTQI from Rice Ear Ltd. was launched to help sustain human well being in the face of the rise in catastrophic events worldwide such as global warming, massive bushfires, and the recent COVID-19 pandemic. LUFTQI anticipates that demand for related products will continue to rise as urbanization, pollution, and the risk of future pandemics continue to escalate. By 2030, it is estimated that 12.5% of the world’s population will live in 33 megacities, concentrating more people together and reducing the living space available to each individual. Moreover, globalization trends are continuing the upward trends in environmental pollution.

Current air purifying products face significant challenges. Their size and battery requirement limit portability and they require expensive HEPA filter replacements on a regular basis. Keeping sustainability in mind, LUFTQI has the solution.
Current air purifying products face significant challenges. Their size and battery requirement limit portability and they require expensive HEPA filter replacements on a regular basis. Keeping sustainability in mind, LUFTQI has the solution.

LUFTQI Continues to Innovate Air Purifying Technology, while Remaining "Mini but Mighty"

The brand’s first Indiegogo campaign in 2018, launched the company’s innovative photocatalytic purification technology. From LOFTQI’s first generation mini air purifier: LUFT QI 1.0 to LUFT Cube 2.0, LOFTQI features reduced operating noise levels and a more modern, mesh exterior design. The LUFT Cube received two award recognitions, including the CES Innovation Award and Taiwan Excellence Award, in 2020. The innovation has continued in the third generation LUFT Duo 3.0, with a doubling of air purifying capability in a similarly small size. LOFTQI’s next generation product, LUFT Sense, will increase 5% of its sterilizing rate to 95%, triple its capability, and feature an onboard sensor function and APP for better user experience. Every generation of LUFT reflects clear improvements in energy efficiency, noise reduction, and reductions in toxic gases and orders, but retains exceptional portability to meet the needs of everyday life.

Current air purifying products face significant challenges. Their size and battery requirement limit portability and they require expensive HEPA filter replacements on a regular basis. Keeping sustainability in mind, LUFTQI has the solution. Its LUFT products are small in size, making them easy to transport and use in multiple locations such as offices, cars, and anywhere you want to breathe safe, filtered air. LUFT products’ filter-free design do not require filter replacements to trap allergen particles, which also further reduces the risk of allergens accumulating on HEPA filters.  LUFT Duo operates with SPP Nano technology, using a solid-state light that activates photocatalysis purification to decompose and destroy aero-allergens such as odors, pollutants, and toxic chemicals then converts these into water and carbon dioxide. Another clear benefit is that no ozone is produced in the process. LUFT Duo is powered by a USB type-C charger and costs less than $2 per year to operate with moderate usage.

Behind the success of LUFTQI is a multidisciplinary, highly experienced team. LUFTQI’s two top executives, Titus Chang and Morgan Song, bring 35 years of combined experience in the LED industry. Technical consultant Andrew Chu, an executive secretary at APEC research center, and Yen Ma lead LUFTQI’s creative brand design efforts.

"Good Air, Anytime and Everywhere" – LOFTQI Looks forward to Going Global

LOFTQI has a steady plan for near-term development. Current performance reflects strong global market potential. In 2019-2020, LOFTQI has focused on building brand awareness through crowdfunding and marketing efforts in Taiwan, Korea, Japan, and the United States. In terms of sales, LOFTQI projects are now being sold in over 80 countries, with revenues exceeding NT$20 million. In 2021-2022, the brand will expand into B2B2C opportunities, enter new markets in Southeast Asia and Russia after Europe and Middle East. LOFTQI will also explore new co-branding and customization opportunities. Revenues during this period are expected to top NT$60 million.

LUFTQI products continue to raise the bar in the air purifying industry to meet consumer’s increasing expectations for personal air quality. With each product generation, LUFTQI seeks to deliver better solutions and innovations. Building on their previous success at CES, LUFTQI has been selected by Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) as one of the 100 featured Taiwanese startups showcased in Eureka Park at CES 2021.

The professional air quality monitor developed by VitalSigns Technology provides real-time detection of environmental data, including humidity, temperature, PM2.5 with Electron Ionization (Femto ampere level) or Optical type, and toxic gases.

Why Air Quality Monitoring Matters

Air pollution is a rising concern worldwide, and environmental hazards are exacerbating the spread of diseases such as asthma, cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, and obstructive pulmonary disease.

The increase in awareness of the negative health effects of polluted air has driven significant new market demand for air quality monitoring. The estimated value of the air quality monitoring systems market was $4.76 billion in 2020 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.26%, according to Infoholic Research.

One Step forward toward the Smart City of Tomorrow

The professional air quality monitor developed by VitalSigns Technology provides real-time detection of environmental data, including humidity, temperature, PM2.5 with Electron Ionization (Femto ampere level) or Optical type, and toxic gases. The system passed the measurement service assessment conducted by the Industrial Technology Research Institute, a national accreditation body (NAB) in Taiwan, at a 95% coefficient of determination.

Product reliability is important for smart city IoT devices that are required to withstand long operating hours. The VitalSigns system features a thorough power management system as well as a fine-particulate ventilation system, waterproof casing, electricity leakage prevention system, unique shelter design, and a fall-down detector to optimize usage in a variety of locations and conditions.

As for data collection connectivity, VitalSigns uses an LTE module instead of less stable connection methods like Wi-Fi and BLE. In addition, the frequency of data transfer to customers’ IoT platforms is customizable. To avoid any possible data loss due to system crash or poor internet connectivity, VitalSigns’ Real-Time Air Quality Monitor’s remedial measures store data onsite for at least 7 days using a built-in 4GBS flash memory.

To suit different needs and missions, VitalSigns uses Femto ampere sensing technology in its electron impact ionization sensors to measure particulate matter in gas. Furthermore, VitalSigns also provides particular toxic gas sensing solutions that have 24-bit high accuracy gas-detect ADC with Android APP and Wireless BLE 4.2 support.

Improving Wellbeing from a Technology Perspective

The key team members of VitalSigns have decades of experience developing high-accuracy ADC systems and biosensors at major IC design companies, including MediaTek and RichTek.

VitalSigns CEO JL Juang remarked that "Our goal is to keep improving healthcare quality and environmental quality for everyone." CES 2021 OSTF’s vMic Noise-free Contact Microphone Improves Microphone Reception with Clear and Correct User Voice

TAIPEI, Jan. 18, 2021Leveraging the expertise of its co-founders, OSTF Labs is a highly regarded expert in the field of intelligent electronic systems. vMic, a mature technological innovator with successful product applications, is eager to explore market opportunities. Led by Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA), OSTF is at Eureka Park at CES 2021 as part of the 100 featured Taiwanese startups.

The vMic development team wanted to design a voice conversion device for patients with articulation disorders that would allow these patients to converse easily with others.
The vMic development team wanted to design a voice conversion device for patients with articulation disorders that would allow these patients to converse easily with others.

The vMic is a noise-free surface vibration microphone that senses speaking vibrations through contact with the skin near the throat.

The vMic development team created an AI compensation algorithm that gives vMic its clear, accurate sound-delivery capabilities. Its voice algorithm analyzes user voice data by capturing pure voice.

Solving the Pain Point for Everyone Who Is Making a Call

"AI technology is well suited for learning the processes of production and perception of speech. The AI compensation algorithm we developed can effectively imitate the resonance of the speech organs. Distorted voice (mixed voiced and unvoiced) signals can thus be corrected using our AI compensation algorithm to achieve pure voice signals."

In noisy environments such as factories, the typical air microphone will be disturbed by environmental background noise and is thus not ideal for communication. Also, traditional air microphones are not suited to users engaged in outdoor sports such as bicycling, motorcycle riding, and skiing."

In such suboptimal environments and conditions, vMic is consumers’ best choice. The vMic delivers vocal clarity regardless of how noisy the environment is.

The Technology Could Disrupt the Microphone Industry

As the mechanism of speech production is very complex, experts must thoroughly understand the processes of production and perception of speech before analyzing any language.

The vMic development team wanted to design a voice conversion device for patients with articulation disorders that would allow these patients to converse easily with others. To make this voice conversion device more convenient to use, Dr. Huang led a team to observe the requirements of patients over an extended period of time. Afterward, the team collaborated with Chung Cheng University professor and Co-Founder of OSTF Labs Dr. Tai-Chi Lin to finalize the design of a noise-free, wireless microphone device (Pure Voice Microphone, vMic) that may be used easily by anyone.

The vMic ensures that only your voice is heard in noisy environments. The design of the wearable device also makes it more convenient to use.

An R&D Team Looking for Diversity

Introducing The XOR TITANIUM Handset

Hand Built In England And Engineered To Perfection

LONDON, Jan. 18, 2021 — Today marks the reveal of  English communications company, XOR’s first premium feature handset collection, XOR TITANIUM. XOR has developed a mobile phone that is as dependable as it is elegant. The handset uses hardware encryption to protect your calls and messages, an air quality sensor to alert you to potential harm and a battery life measured in days not hours. Made in England, the handset effortlessly combines life-enhancing and reliable security technology with a sophisticated and robust design.

XOR TITANIUM Collection
XOR TITANIUM Collection

The XOR team has developed a modern handset designed with the user at its heart.  Created specifically for those who appreciate design, quality, craft and exclusivity, an XOR mobile phone delivers it all.

Whether protecting your business or your family, XOR allows you to create a personal network of communications that are protected from all potential intruders. With an XOR in your hand, you will always be secure and self-assured. It is Safe by Design.

THE BRAND

XOR was founded by a small group of entrepreneurs who all recognised the need for a beautiful phone that offered unbreakable protection. They assembled a unique team of experts in their fields, including designers, engineers, technicians, craftsmen, audio and material specialists to make their vision a reality.

DESIGN & MATERIALS

XOR TITANIUM embodies the brand’s design philosophy of organic geometry. The design team were passionate about creating an object that was as ergonomic as it was stylish and strong.

The fluid surfaces create edges at their intersections that define the form. This organic movement is captured in the titanium sides of the phone. The lower half is deliberately sculpted to the palm enabling the natural folding over of the fingers. The upper half transitions to a concave form that makes a natural home for the thumb and index finger, guiding them to the protected keys. This edition takes its name from one of the key materials used in its construction: titanium.

XOR handsets are designed and hand built in England. Using only the finest materials to produce a lightweight, strong and dependable phone. The phone exudes mystery and commands interest, there is no brand name anywhere except for XOR’s intriguing shield logo.

The first XOR collection consists of four variants: TITANIUM Classic, TITANIUM Ebony, TITANIUM Marine and TITANIUM Rose.

  • Hypoallergenic Metal Alloy: The phone is encased in titanium which is as strong as steel but weighs only half as much. Forged in soaring temperatures but engineered to precision, it is widely used in the aerospace industries.
  • Sapphire Crystal Screen: Polished to perfection, it can only be cut with diamond-tipped tools resulting in a virtually scratch-proof screen.
  • Ceramic: Known for its incredible strength and polished elegance, XOR uses high tech ceramic similar to that used in spacecraft. It is known for its incredible scratch resistance and unique thermal characteristics.
  • Leather: Supple, perfectly smooth and blemish-free leather encases the back of each handset. Each piece of high-quality leather is painstakingly checked to ensure that the grain is consistent and of premium quality.

UNIQUE OFFERING

XOR believe that protecting your wellbeing is as important as safeguarding your data.  Every XOR handset has been enhanced with an indoor air quality sensor, to inform you of any pollutants in the air you are breathing. Marked by a leaf icon on the home screen; green signifies safe, yellow denotes alarming while red is unhealthy.

Each XOR handset is hardware encrypted to protect your personal data. Hardware encryption is more effective than software encryption because it is direct, phone to phone, no servers are involved, therefore no keys can be discovered. Two or more XOR users can exchange calls and messages using end-to-end encryption through a unique contact system and a series of secure one-time passwords. XOR use Advanced Encryption System (AES) algorithm: AES 256. Conversations and data content are safeguarded with the ability to delete data via a remote secret key created during the handset’s initial set-up. This protects the user and gives them complete control of their data if the phone is lost or stolen.

The unique ringtone was created by British multi award-winning recording artist, composer and producer Mark Sayfritz. The XOR ringtone is akin to a movie soundtrack with its atmospheric quality. More importantly, the same original composition is played in a non-encrypted (piano) and encrypted (synthesiser) way to differentiate the type of call you are receiving.

The XOR TITANIUM handset comes with active noise cancellation technology to remove the background noise. Sounds picked up are filtered out, while the call volume is automatically adjusted based on surrounding noise levels, creating a better quality call for the user.

Each XOR handset is equipped with a receiver to allow wireless charging. Place the handset on top of any universal wireless charging pad for more convenient charging.

The unique user interface is clear and easy to navigate. The home screen’s analogue clock face features the shield logo. It is a subtle reminder that you are constantly under protection 24/7.

The XOR TITANIUM range starts from £3,000 and are available to order direct from the XOR website – xorinc.uk – from 18 January 2021.

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam, Jan. 18, 2021 — On 7 January 2021, VIISA organized Investment Day Batch 8 on its online platform, attracting more than 80 investors as well as corporations and startup community builders. This invite-only event also marked a new milestone for tech-startups Batch 8 in their 4-month journey with VIISA.

Taking place online for the first time, Investment Day Batch 8 solves the problem of geographical distance as well as difficulties in the global context of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing opportunities for startups and investors to share and exchange the latest updates about startup ideas. The event was divided into 2 sessions: live-streamed pitching shows from startups and networking activities between founders and investors with separate rooms for each startup team.

Opening the event, Mr. Vo Tran Dinh Hieu – Board Member and Program Director at VIISA, said: "Unlike any other, we want to preserve the excitement of live pitching, so this is not a recorded video, we have all the founders here with us and they are ready to go. So it is the first week 2021 and it seems like we will have another very eventful year. The UK announced 3rd lockdown, the Capitol Hill was taken yesterday. But still in Vietnam thousands of people gathered for fireworks shows on new year’s eve. I believe this tranquility in Vietnam represents what everyone has achieved in the last year. We all have sharpened our adaptability and agility to maintain the composure of our businesses. I hope we all will carry on this great attitude forward to 2021. We started this batch in June 2020 with 3 companies and only one succeeded to graduation. During this batch, we also continued supporting the alumni to recover from the covid situation."

This year’s Investment Day is not only an opportunity for VIISA Batch 8 startups to demonstrate their maturity, but also a chance for alumni startups who have participated in previous courses to reconfirm their development and position in the startup ecosystem.
