Video games are no longer just a campus distraction; they are a rapidly growing professional industry. Recognising this massive shift, PUBG MOBILE has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). This nationwide collaboration is specifically designed to nurture the next generation of talent across Malaysia’s gaming, esports, and broader digital sectors. By tapping into UiTM’s extensive campus network, the partnership aims to bridge the gap between playing games for fun and building a sustainable, future-ready career.

The agreement goes far beyond just organising a few weekend gaming sessions. For students looking to enter the corporate side of the industry, the collaboration opens up highly practical pathways, including placements for academic study, formal industrial training, and joint research initiatives. These educational programs will focus heavily on tangible learning opportunities directly related to gaming, product management, and digital media. To keep the curriculum fresh, the two organisations will also co-host conferences, symposia, and short courses, continuously exchanging insights on modern student development and teaching methodologies. UiTM Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Ts. Dr. Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin noted that this partnership expands learning beyond traditional academic pathways, outfitting students with the exact skills needed for emerging industries.
On the competitive front, the partnership is bringing a structured approach to campus gaming. The initiative will establish official esports clubs and organise interactive activities designed to hone both creative and competitive skills. Looking ahead, the two entities plan to launch a massive, nationwide PUBG MOBILE campus tournament exclusively across the UiTM network. Crucially, this tournament acts as a legitimate talent pipeline, offering top-performing students the rare opportunity to potentially secure a coveted slot in professional esports leagues.
Recognising that the modern gaming ecosystem relies heavily on streamers and digital personalities, the collaboration is not just focused on professional players. Dedicated campaigns will be rolled out specifically to support and grow student content creators, empowering them to build a lasting presence within the digital media space. According to Ashley Phuah, Product Manager of PUBG MOBILE Malaysia, this MoU is just the foundational step in a series of long-term initiatives aimed at turning student passion into professional excellence within the digital economy. Ultimately, this partnership represents a major structural step forward for Malaysia’s gaming ecosystem, directly connecting academic development with real-world industry demands.
