Play As Son Goku, Vegeta or Piccolo in the New Version 2.7 Update for PUBG Mobile

PUBG Mobile has been on a roll lately with its updates. The new version 2.7 update also marks a new content collaboration with the popular anime franchise Dragon Ball – more specifically with the latest installation in the long-running anime Dragon Ball Super. The new content partnership will see two new additional modes in PUBG Mobile and kicks off on 13th July and will run until September 4th 2023.

Shenron, Ki & Dragon Balls Reimagine Gameplay

During this time, players can take part in a new Dragon Ball Super Themed Mode where they will have to search for the seven Dragon Balls to reign supreme. The new mode will happen in-game and will continue to have PUBG Mobile’s signature PvP battle royale gameplay. Upon collecting the seven sacred spheres, players will be able to summon Shenron at the Shenron Summoning Altar for powerful in-game buffs. The altar is also the cornerstone of a new hidden Dragon Ball trial where you’ll need to gather all seven balls, defend the altar and make a wish; all while being completely exposed to your enemies. Yep – they’ll be able to see your every move!

There are also four new Dragon Ball Super areas in-game, more specifically in the Erangel, Livik and Sanhok areas. The Dragon Ball Village”, “Tenkaichi Budokai”, “Kame House”, and “Karin Tower” areas will look familiar to Dragon Ball Super aficionados as they’re built to resemble areas and the architecture from the series. What’s more, they’ll have goodies that may just come in useful in your quest for that Chicken Dinner. You can even ride the Air Car to traverse the battlegrounds.

PUBG Mobile’s version 2.7 update also comes with a new “Ki” component which allows players to gather “Ki” for increased mobility. You’ll even be able to use the legendary skill – “Kamehameha” – to make quick work of your enemies.

PUBG Mobile Goes Full Dragon Ball Super

PUBG Mobile will also be taking things a step further as it adopts the signature animated art style of Dragon Ball Super. The stylistic change will take place between July 15 and September 4th 2023. During this time, players will be able to play as Son Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Piccolo and Ultimate Gohan complete with their signature moves in their quest to be the last one standing.

As part of this brand-new mode, you will be able to gather Spirit Crystlets and Spirit Crystals from the ground to restore energy and upgrade your moves with a cap at Level 4. In addition, you’ll be able to traverse and manipulate the map with a variety of new features such as Teleport Points and Updraft.

There will also be exclusive outfits during this collaboration which feature Goku, Vegeta and Frieza and even companions Pilaf and Karin. But that’s not all, Tencent Games is teasing even more coming on August 14, 2023.

Nasi Lemak in PUBG? No, Really, it’s Real – I Promise You!

PUBG Mobile has proven to be some of the most popular mobile game to date in the Southeast Asian region at least. It is not like they have no competition in the region as well. We saw entry from games like Free Fire, and the surge of players moving to Call of Duty Mobile, all employing the Battle Royale genre. To be fair, alongside Fortnite, PUBG Mobile is the pioneer of Battle Royale style game in the mobile gaming space.

There is also a reason to why PUBG Mobile has stayed on top of their game for so long. Within the game, players can explore a plethora of customizations for their characters. The more they play, the more customization option they get for their in-game characters. Tencent has also sort of localized the game to include region special customization option. One such new option is the ‘Nasi Lemak’ kit.

If you are reading this from other parts of the world, ‘Nasi Lemak’ is a local delicacy made from aromatic rice, an egg (either fried or hard-boiled), peanuts and anchovies on the side, and topped with a good amount of spicy ‘Sambal’ sauce served on top of a piece of banana leaf. Over the years, Malaysia’s obsession with this local delicacy has inspired many creations like ‘Nasi Lemak’ ice cream, and ‘Nasi Lemak’ burger. Those are still foods. The one in the game is a little different.

Instead of a free ‘Nasi Lemak’ pack, you get to adorn your character in the Ramadan special skins. They have introduced the Nasi Lemak Suit that comprises of a banana leaf jacket, coconut rice T-shirt, ‘ikan bilis’ (anchovies) necklace, and peanut bracelet. To spice up your character, there is also a ‘Nasi Lemak’ hat that actually looks like a plate of ‘Nasi Lemak’ with fried egg and spiced fried chicken topping on your head. To complete the entire ‘Nasi Lemak’ look, there is a pair of glasses made up of cucumber slices as lenses. No, the banana leaf jacket and coconut rice T-shirt does not add any protection to your character. The cucumber lenses looks cool, but does not offer additional stats to your character too, but it might be useful in the scorching sun of PUBG Mobile’s various maps. The ‘ikan bilis’ necklace and peanut bracelet cannot be eaten too to heal your character, unfortunately. You might get some laughs from your suit too, but that is the point of playing games with your friends. Oh yes, you might stand out a little bit in the game.

Alongside the local delicacy that is ‘Nasi Lemak’, PUBG Mobile is also featuring another local delicacy into the game as a weapon. They call it the ‘Roti John Machete’, a famous omelette sandwich topped with onions, cabbages, ground meat, and various sauces. It resembles a huge sandwich from Subway in the game and it works like a basic machete within the game. No, it is does not work as such in real life too, it is not that sharp. If you are a foreigner visiting Malaysia, you might want to try ‘Roti John’ in your supper adventures in Malaysia.

Players can redeem the Nasi Lemak set for free when they participate in a time-limited in-game event. Look for Nasi Lemak-Tapau All! Event anytime between now all the way to the 29th of March 2023. The event will require you to complete several Ramadan missions to redeem the full set of ‘Nasi Lemak’ gears.

Asian Games Gets More Interesting with Medalled eSport Events including PUBG Mobile & Hearthstone

Big sporting events are about to get more interesting – particularly if you have an interest in eSports. It’s been a long time coming, but eSports is becoming more mainstream with the increasing number of events that are becoming recognised. A growing number of games are being included in large, global and regional sporting events. The Asian Games are the latest to join the foray.

eSports has long been sidelined by mainstream sports and athletics cause of their perceived lack of “training” and “athleticism”. But that’s been changing in recent years. With the establishment of international tournaments like “The International” (TI), The World Cyber Games (WCG) and the Electronic Sports League (ESL), there has been more awareness cultivated of how eSports athletes train and how intense and precise each match can be.

The industry has scored another big win with PUBG Mobile being recognised as a medalled event at the upcoming Asian Games. The event, held once every four years, is recognised by the International Olympic Committee as the second largest event of its kind; only second to the Olympics itself. PUBG Mobile joins a list of elite games selected for the event.

The Asian Games will be taking place in Hangzhou, China from 10th to 25th September 2022. The upcoming games will mark the 19th Asian Games and the first to have eSports as recognised, medalled events.
