Apple has officially introduced its very first foldable device, known as the iPhone Duo. This release marks the most significant physical redesign in the history of the iconic iPhone. It combines cutting-edge engineering with familiar Apple usability to create a truly versatile daily companion. Dual Displays Drive Unique Use Cases and Experiences

When closed, the iPhone Duo adopts a convenient, passport-style form factor that fits comfortably in one hand and slips easily into any pocket. It features a 5.4-inch outer Super Retina XDR display. This outer screen provides 90% of the viewing area found on a standard iPhone 18 Pro. It is fully equipped with ProMotion technology, Always-On capabilities, and a peak outdoor brightness of 3,000 nits. You can easily handle quick messages, check notifications, and manage calls without ever needing to unfold the device. Touch ID is seamlessly integrated right into the side power button for fast and secure authentication. Alternatively, users can unlock the phone instantly using their Apple Watch.

Unfolding the device reveals a stunning 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR display. This massive screen is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max, giving users an immersive workspace for media, gaming, and productivity. The inner panel is protected by a premium nano-texture finish that reduces glare and reflections. A custom multi-layer lamination design with viscoelastic adhesives allows the display layers to glide smoothly against each other like pages in a book, minimising crease visibility over time. The device is crafted from grade 5 titanium with an elegant mirror-polished finish and a robust 3D-printed hinge cover. Ceramic Shield protects the back panel, while Ceramic Shield 2 on the front delivers superior scratch resistance. An IP68 water and dust resistance rating ensures durable everyday reliability.

Seamless Software Powered by the Latest Apple Silicon

Performance is driven by the lightning-fast A20 Pro chip built on an advanced two-nanometre manufacturing process. This powerhouse is paired with Apple’s new C2 modem, which delivers up to 50% faster cellular speeds and improved energy efficiency. The device runs on iOS 27, featuring reimagined software experiences optimised specifically for foldable multitasking. Users can run two apps side by side, pin videos while browsing, or use the device in various prop-up angles like seated or standing modes.

Camera capabilities are equally impressive, featuring a 48-megapixel Dual Fusion camera system that captures stunning detail and 4K Dolby Vision video at 120 frames per second. A hidden under-display FaceTime camera and an outer Center Stage camera enable dual capture recording from front and back simultaneously.

Later in the year, support for Apple Pencil with USB-C will arrive, allowing users to sketch and take notes directly on either display. The iPhone Duo is available in two elegant colourways consisting of Star White and Night Sky.

Official Malaysian pricing starts at RM 9,499. For international markets, the device starts at an international price of USD 1,999 [approx. RM 8,136] for the base 256GB storage configuration, with options scaling up to 2TB.

Pre-orders begin on October 16, with official store availability and customer shipments kicking off on October 23. Buyers can take advantage of Apple Trade In programs to receive credit toward their purchase, alongside flexible monthly financing options.
