It is built around a generous 6.9-inch screen that offers ample room for media consumption, gaming, and productivity. Like its smaller sibling, it shares the refined aluminium enclosure, colour-matched rear Ceramic Shield glass, and the streamlined smaller Dynamic Island capable of tracking multiple live updates at once.
Performance is equally formidable, driven by the same 2nm A20 Pro processor and supported by the oversized vapour chamber cooling architecture. Where the Pro Max truly shines is in its endurance. Apple claims this model delivers the biggest generational leap in battery life ever seen in an iPhone. Users can experience up to 30 to 45 hours of continuous usage per full charge. This massive longevity makes it the ultimate companion for travellers, content creators, and power users who spend long hours away from a wall outlet.
Variable Aperture Brings Versatility to the 48MP Camera
As always, the biggest story of this year’s release lies in the camera department. Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max introduce a groundbreaking hardware upgrade to their main 48-megapixel Fusion cameras. For the first time in an iPhone, Apple has integrated a physical variable aperture mechanism. This optical system uses laser-cut components that are thinner than a human hair to physically adjust the lens opening.

This new feature creates a permanent copy of the original capture, which is readily accessible via Apple’s Photos app. This original capture is viewable even when you’re looking at the edited image in the Photos app. It essentially acts like a digital negative — if you’re a ” boomer,” yes, we mean the negatives you saw with film. This is a welcome feature given the age of AI slop we’re currently in, even when it comes to photos.

The new flagship lineup is available in several high-capacity storage tiers, scaling all the way up to a massive 2TB option for the first time. There will be four distinct colourways consisting of Deep Black, Silver, Glacier, and Burgundy, all featuring colour-matched rear glass finishes.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at RM5,499, and iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at RM5,999. 0% interest monthly payments for up to 24 months are also available.
In the United States, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 [approx. RM4,880] while the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299 [approx. RM5,287]. Monthly carrier instalment plans are also available for qualified buyers starting at $49.95 [approx. RM203] per month for the Pro and $54.12 [approx. RM220] per month for the Pro Max over a twenty-four-month period.
Pre-orders for both devices begin on Saturday, September 12, with official retail shipments and store availability kicking off on Friday, September 18.
