When a global technology giant designs a new home appliance, they often build it for a generic, Western-sized household, leaving Asian consumers to figure out how to fit a massive refrigerator into a compact apartment kitchen. LG Electronics is actively working to flip that script. At the recent LG InnoFest 2026 APAC held in Busan, Korea, the company showcased a massive strategic shift toward highly localised, region-specific home solutions tailored directly for the Asia-Pacific market. Operating under the theme “Innovation, Forward Together,” the exhibition highlighted how LG is blending its AI capabilities with practical hardware designed specifically for Asian living conditions.

Rethinking the Laundry Space
One of the most common pain points in urban Asian apartments is the lack of a dedicated laundry room. LG is addressing this spatial challenge by expanding its popular WashTower lineup to include a brand-new 25-inch model. Sitting alongside their standard 24-inch and 27-inch offerings, this new footprint is deliberately engineered to fit snugly into tighter Asian homes without sacrificing capacity.
For those who prefer top-load machines, LG is integrating Artificial Intelligence Direct Drive (AI DD) technology into its new models. This system automatically assesses both the fabric type and the soil level of your clothes to optimise the wash cycle, while a TurboWash 3D feature can blast through a full load in under thirty minutes for those in a rush. If space is at an absolute premium, their new WashCombo unit acts as an all-in-one washer and dryer, utilising highly energy-efficient Inverter HeatPump technology to keep electricity bills in check—a major concern for local consumers.

A Smarter, Spatially Aware Kitchen
The kitchen is seeing a similar localised treatment. LG’s new refrigerators feature a clever “Fit & Max” design paired with a Zero Clearance Hinge. In practical terms, this means you can push the fridge completely flush against a wall or cabinet without restricting the door from opening fully, maximising internal storage without wasting precious floor space. Acknowledging the high ice consumption typical in warmer Asian climates, these fridges also feature an advanced Ice Solution capable of producing four different types of ice, ranging from crushed to premium Craft Ice.
Moving to cooking, LG is rolling out a tailored built-in kitchen collection specifically for Southeast Asia. The standout appliance in this lineup is the Camera Oven. It is a genuinely futuristic piece of hardware equipped with an internal camera that identifies your raw ingredients, automatically recommends the best cooking mode, and actively monitors the surface colour of your food to prevent accidental burning.
Tying the Ecosystem Together
Throwing a bunch of smart appliances into a house does not automatically make it a smart home; they need to communicate effectively. To unify this ecosystem, LG is rolling out ThinQ ON, an AI Home Hub designed to seamlessly connect and coordinate all these intelligent devices.

However, decking out an entire home with flagship smart appliances is a significant financial investment. To make this ecosystem more accessible, LG is aggressively expanding its LG Subscribe service across key Asian markets, including Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. This flexible subscription model allows consumers to essentially lease high-end appliances while receiving comprehensive, ongoing product care and maintenance.
