The refreshed lineup, introduced earlier this week, essentially simplifies the decision-making process by consolidating high-speed home fibre and unlimited mobile lines into a single bill. The move seems aimed at households that are tired of managing disparate accounts for their broadband and mobile data, offering a unified solution that prioritizes speed and volume.
The update centers around two primary tiers designed to scale with household size. The entry-level option, priced at RM299, now bundles a 500Mbps home fibre connection with three unlimited 4G/5G mobile lines. This baseline is significantly robust, likely sufficient for a standard family where multiple users are streaming video or attending virtual meetings simultaneously. For households with heavier digital traffic—think active gamers or content creators—the RM399 tier pushes the home fibre speed to 1Gbps and increases the bundle to 4 unlimited mobile lines.
Both tiers come standard with a WiFi 6 router, which is a necessary piece of hardware to actually deliver those gigabit-class speeds wirelessly across a home. The inclusion of unlimited data on the mobile lines removes the need for individual data quotas, ensuring that family members don’t run dry on connectivity when they leave the house. Maxis has also thrown in a complimentary subscription to Sooka Premium for a limited time, adding live sports and entertainment value to the package without an extra fee.
Recognizing that not every home has access to fibre infrastructure, Maxis has retained an alternative for underserved areas. The Maxis Family Plan is available with a 5G Home WiFi option, which substitutes the wired fibre connection for a plug-and-play 5G router. This allows users to leverage the telco’s expanding 5G network for home internet, providing a viable workaround for landed properties or high-rises waiting on port availability.
Crucially, the plans are built with some modularity. Families aren’t stuck with the base number of lines; the account supports adding up to six additional lines, making it scalable for extended families or those with multiple devices requiring cellular connectivity. There is also a clear upgrade path for the home internet speed, with options to boost the connection all the way up to 2Gbps for users who demand the absolute maximum throughput available.
