At CES 2026, Lenovo made it clear that their gaming strategy is shifting towards flexibility. The company unveiled a refreshed portfolio of Legion and LOQ devices that prioritize adaptability, whether that means a screen that physically changes size or a handheld that finally embraces a dedicated gaming operating system. The lineup attempts to bridge the gap between desktop-level performance and the reality of mobile gaming.
Legion Go with SteamOS
The most significant shift in the handheld space is the new Legion Go. While previous iterations relied on Windows, this new model is the first to ship natively with SteamOS. This change addresses the biggest complaint with Windows-based handhelds: the user interface. SteamOS offers a console-like experience optimized for gamepad controls, featuring quick suspend and resume capabilities that are essential for mobile play.

Under the hood, it is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor paired with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory. The display remains a standout feature, utilizing an 8.8-inch Lenovo PureSight OLED panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This combination of software optimization and high-end hardware aims to deliver a fluid experience for AAA titles without the friction of navigating a desktop OS on a small screen.
Legion 7a: The Portable Powerhouse
For those who prefer a traditional clamshell factor, the Legion 7a represents Lenovo’s push into the premium, ultra-portable segment. It is 10% lighter and 5% thinner than its predecessor, making it a viable option for users who need to carry their rig daily. Despite the slim profile, it packs serious heat, featuring the latest AMD Ryzen AI 400 Series processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series graphics.

The visual experience is driven by a 16-inch OLED display that supports a 240Hz variable refresh rate. To keep this hardware cool in such a tight chassis, Lenovo utilizes its “Coldfront: Hyper” cooling technology, which optimizes airflow to keep thermals in check during extended gaming or rendering sessions.
Legion 5 Series: The Mainstream Workhorse
The Legion 5 series continues to be the bread and butter for mainstream gamers, available in both Intel (Legion 5i) and AMD (Legion 5a) variants. The Legion 5i comes equipped with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, while the 5a offers a choice between the Ryzen AI 400 or Ryzen 200 Series chips. Both models feature the new 15.3-inch WQXGA OLED displays, bringing deep blacks and vibrant colors to the mid-range segment. They also benefit from the same “Coldfront: Hyper” cooling found in the premium models, ensuring consistent performance without excessive fan noise.
Lenovo LOQ: Entry-Level Performance
The entry-level LOQ series also sees an update with the 15AHP11 and 15IPH11 models. These devices are targeted at students and new gamers, offering a balance of price and performance. They feature 15-inch displays and are powered by either AMD Ryzen 200 Series or Intel Core Ultra processors, backed by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs. A key upgrade here is the inclusion of “Hyperchamber Cooling” technology, which draws heat away from the user and expels it efficiently, a critical feature for laptops that often double as study machines.
Legion Pro Rollable Concept

Lenovo also showcased a “proof of concept” device that hints at the future of display technology. The Legion Pro Rollable Concept features a screen that unrolls horizontally. It starts as a standard 16-inch display but can expand to a massive 24-inch, 32:9 aspect ratio canvas. This allows esports athletes and multi-taskers to have a dual-monitor experience in a single, travel-friendly device, using a motorized system to maintain screen tension and durability.
