Fujifilm Malaysia has officially refreshed one of its most unique instant cameras, launching the Instax Mini LiPlay+. Unveiled alongside the X-T30 III, this new model builds on the “hybrid” concept that made the original LiPlay so popular: the ability to shoot digital, review your shot, and only print what you actually like.
For those unfamiliar with the lineup, the “hybrid” designation is the key selling point. The LiPlay+ isn’t just a point-and-shoot instant camera where you cross your fingers and hope the lighting is right. It features an LCD screen that allows you to preview images before committing them to film. It also doubles as a smartphone printer via Bluetooth, letting you print photos directly from your phone’s camera roll.
A Focus on Selfies and Sound
While the core hybrid functionality remains, Fujifilm has tweaked the hardware and software to fit modern habits. The biggest physical update is the integration of a dedicated selfie camera function. While you could always turn a camera around, the LiPlay+ makes it easier to frame shots with friends by checking the LCD monitor specifically for selfies, ensuring no one gets cropped out.
The device’s signature “Sound” feature—which records up to 10 seconds of audio and prints it as a QR code on the photo—has also seen an upgrade . The new “instax Sound Album” feature allows users to compile up to 10 of these sound-embedded images into a slideshow-style video with background music, making the digital sharing aspect of the physical print more engaging .
Creative Layering
On the creative side, the LiPlay+ introduces a “Layered Photo Mode” . This allows users to overlay a selfie onto a background image, adding a bit of depth and collage-style creativity directly in-camera. Additionally, the “Direct Print” function has been enhanced, now allowing you to add voice messages to your smartphone photos before printing them through the dedicated app .
To accompany the launch, Fujifilm also introduced a new film variety called “Soft Glitter.” It’s a standard mini-format film but features subtle gold accents on the frame, designed to give prints a slightly more premium, textured look.
Pricing and Availability
The instax mini LiPlay+ is available in Malaysia starting 6 November 2025 .
Fujifilm is offering the device in a “Soft Bundle” at RM938 which includes:
- One instax mini LiPlay+ Camera
- One pack of plain instax mini film
