Taobao’s 11.11 Sale Is Now in English and Malay, Adds 16 Local Banks

Taobao’s 11.11 sale has always been the big one, but for many Malaysians, it’s also been notoriously difficult to access without a strong grasp of Chinese. This year, that barrier is officially coming down.

Taobao Malaysia has announced that its 2025 11.11 Sale, which is already underway, is the first to be fully available in three languages: English, Chinese, and Malay. This isn’t just a simple UI skin; it’s a major push to make the platform accessible to everyone, backed by new payment and logistic upgrades.

Deploying AI for Better Localisation

The multi-language support is the headline, but the practical upgrades are what will make the biggest difference for local shoppers. The app now features AI-powered translations and allows users to browse and even use image search in Malay or English. All prices are also now displayed in MYR for convenience.

The biggest headache for many—payment—has also been addressed. Taobao Malaysia has expanded its online banking support to 16 Malaysian banks, including Affin Bank, Bank Islam, OCBC Bank, UOB Bank, and Alliance Bank, among others. This makes checking out a seamless process without needing third-party payment gateways.

For those buying bulky items like furniture, Taobao is also piloting a furniture installation service, which will be available soon starting in the Klang Valley.

The 11.11 shopping festival is already active, having started on 20 October and running until 14 November 2025.
