Wine of Moldova offers a glimpse of the future with its game-changing AI tool

CHIȘINĂU, Moldova, March 22, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The Moldovan wine industry, following its enthusiastic reception at ProWein, has entered a critical juncture. After the successful unveiling of two wines produced with the support of an Artificial Intelligence, key stakeholders will seek further collaboration with the nation’s burgeoning tech and design sectors in the coming years, using innovation to strengthen their global competitiveness.

According to Wine of Moldova, this landmark AI project involved a strategic partnership between several institutions: the National Office of Vine and Wine, the creative media technology hub, Mediacor, and the Technical University of Moldova. Their goal was to set a global precedent for the unification of Artificial Intelligence and human expertise, in addition to facilitating ongoing development via the use of new technologies; $500 million has been earmarked for vineyard expansion, technological innovation, and production capacity.

Robert Joseph, consultant and author, commented: “A changing climate – which means far greater vintage variation as well as higher temperatures – requires innovative solutions. This project gives wine producers access to the nation’s growing AI expertise that could be a game-changer.”

At ProWein this year, a (white) blend of Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala and Viorica and a (red) Feteasca Neagra were presented to an international audience of professionals, created with the help of Artificial Intelligence.

“51 producers engaged with visitors from across the world during the fair, introducing them to Moldova’s local grape varieties, unique terroirs and blending expertise,” revealed Stefan Iamandi, Director of the National Vine and Wine Office.

Today, the wine industry is essential to Moldova’s economy, contributing around 3% of GDP and 8% of total exports, contributing to the livelihoods of over 50,000 families in rural areas. Premium labels are exported to 72 different countries – 55 percent of the country’s total exports are shipped to the EU.

Moldova boasts a growing number of small new wineries, with young winemakers, while its larger ones are investing in vineyards and cellar equipment to produce more premium wines,” said Diana Lazar, AI Wine project lead.

Like every other wine-producing country, Moldova faces a range of challenges. However, stakeholders are in a strong position to meet these difficulties head on, taking full advantage of the solutions presented by future tech. A new era of cooperation between winegrowers and digital innovators has begun as Moldova offers valuable lessons for the rest of the world.

CGTN: CMG’s 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival Gala: Family bonds shine under full moon

BEIJING, Oct. 2, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — On September 29, with the arrival of the Mid-Autumn Festival, China Media Group (CMG) hosted a Mid-Autumn Gala that brought together Chinese people from across the world to celebrate and pay homage to the moon, fostering a sense of unity during this festive season.

The gala featured a variety of tender and heartwarming programs, infusing the atmosphere with a warm familial embrace. By presenting the perspectives of ordinary people, the event closely reflected the everyday lives of the audience.

The program “Time of Childhood” portrayed the simple and delightful experiences of childhood, highlighting the beauty in its simplicity.

Meanwhile, the program “Father” explored the universal bond of deep love that parents around the world share with their children.

This year, netizens were invited to share a photo with their fathers and tag it with the hashtag “Bring my Dad to CMG’s 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival Gala.” These photos would then get a chance to appear on the stage screen.

Since its inception, the initiative has garnered nearly 10 million views. Numerous netizens have enthusiastically shared heartwarming photos, expressing their deep emotions and love for their fathers.

Cultural elements incorporated in the gala

This year’s gala revolved around five literary elements, containing poetry, wine, the moon, water and bamboo, all of which are the most common forms of cultural imagery found in ancient Chinese poems.

In ancient Chinese history, poetry held the highest literary regard. Beyond concise language and melodic rhythms, imagery, known as yixiang, served as a crucial and artistic tool for conveying intricate emotions.

Rather than directly expressing their feelings, most ancient poets skillfully wove hidden emotions and profound meanings into tangible objects and objective scenes through artistic observation and traditional literary perspectives.

For instance, wine in Chinese culture often symbolizes gatherings, celebrations and toasts. It transcends being merely a beverage, embodying the act of forging connections and reveling with friends and family.

Meanwhile, the moon serves as a recurring motif in Chinese literature and culture, embodying notions like reunion, change, the passage of time and nostalgia.

In the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the renowned poet Zhang Jiuling penned verses like, “As the bright moon shines over the sea, from far away you share this moment with me.” These lines reflect the deep homesickness felt by the poet.

The gala presented programs highlighting the five enduring cultural symbols deeply rooted in Chinese history, offering a glimpse into the ancient civilization along the Yangtze River.

A song, “Asking the moon with a wine cup in hand,” reflected the wine culture in Chinese history. Another song, “Bright Light,” incorporated lyrics from the celebrated litterateur Su Shi of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), conveying themes centered on the resilience and unyielding spirit of the Chinese people.

Symbolic meaning of love and reunion

The gala took place in Yibin City, southwest China’s Sichuan Province. The main stage was set up in the Yangtze River Park, at the point where the Jinsha River and Minjiang River converge to form the mighty Yangtze River.

Yibin City, renowned as “The First City on the Yangtze River,” boasts a rich history of city construction spanning over 2,200 years, more than 3,000 years of tea cultivation heritage and a brewing tradition that stretches back more than 4,000 years.

“Yibin is my ancestral home. Although this is my first time in Lizhuang, I feel a strong sense of familiarity,” said Qin Hao, a performer at the gala.

“In Chinese culture, certain images hold universal significance. Symbols like the moon resonate deeply with Chinese people across generations,” he said.

The Mid-Autumn Festival holds a special place in the hearts of the Chinese people. Throughout history, this festival has been intertwined with Chinese mythology, folklore and poetry, enriching its cultural significance.

This festival is not just about celebrating the moon; it’s also a moment when people express their deepest emotions to their loved ones. It’s a time for love, gratitude and cherishing the enduring bonds of family.

Latest Collaboration Between Premium Living Solution Provider and the Multi-talented Legend Serves Up Exceptional Flavors and Timeless Moments

SEOUL, South Korea, May 6, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — LG SIGNATURE, the premium brand of LG Electronics, has collaborated with brand ambassador and Award-winning artist, John Legend, for a special, limited-edition wine. Released under Legend’s own LVE label, the exclusive wine was unveiled at a special event held on May 3.

LG SIGNATURE AND JOHN LEGEND UNVEIL LIMITED-EDITION WINE AT EXCLUSIVE EVENT
LG SIGNATURE AND JOHN LEGEND UNVEIL LIMITED-EDITION WINE AT EXCLUSIVE EVENT

The invite-only function, themed Timeless Moments with Loved Ones, took place at Wappo Hill, the private home of celebrated vintner and co-founder of LVE, Jean-Charles Boisset. LG SIGNATURE brand ambassadors – the international style authority Olivia Palermo and noted wine critic James Suckling – were among the evening’s special guests, while other VIP attendees included LG SIGNATURE customers, retailers, journalists, wine reviewers and lifestyle influencers.

To begin the sophisticated soiree, John Legend and Jean Charles Boisset were joined by an LG SIGNATURE representative to share the story of the exclusive wine – from the original idea for their collaboration to an inviting description of the full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon’s rich, complex flavors. The delighted guests were then serenaded by John Legend, who, accompanying himself on the piano, performed “You Deserve It All,” the song he wrote for LG SIGNATURE, along with his hit “All of Me” and a selection of other favorites.

Bringing the evening back to the subject of wine, James Suckling then hosted a special session on wine preservation, offering up practical tips and outlining the impressive features and benefits of the specialist LG SIGNATURE Wine Cellar. Before the evening came to a close, guests were treated to a gourmet three-course meal prepared by Boisset’s head chef Rafael Molina and paired with LVE’s delectable wine.

The limited-edition Legend X SIGNATURE wine is a 2018-vintage cabernet sauvignon crafted at Napa Valley’s renowned Raymond Vineyards. Only 300 bottles have been made, with 50 served at the event and the remainder available exclusively to LG SIGNATURE VIP customers and those purchasing an LG SIGNATURE Wine Cellar.

Complementing the wine’s superb taste is an understated label design and sophisticated black bottle, which speak to the timeless quality and premium nature of LG SIGNATURE. The bottle echoes the look and feel of the minimal Black Diamond Glass used for the LG SIGNATURE Refrigerator, while the premium Textured Steel™ Finish of the LG SIGNATURE Wine Cellar is expressed through the silver font etched into the label.

America’s – and John Legend’s – favorite red wine, cabernet sauvignon pairs perfectly with a wide variety food. Cabernet sauvignons from California’s Napa Valley region are widely considered among the best produced in the ‘New World,’ rivaling those from the variety’s native France in popularity with wine connoisseurs worldwide. The 2018 vintage from Napa Valley is noted for an exceptionally ‘juicy’ and well-rounded flavor profile resulting from the ideal weather conditions experienced that growing season. For optimal preservation, the Legend X SIGNATURE wine is best kept in the temperature- and humidity-controlled conditions offered by the LG SIGNATURE Wine Cellar.

“It was a pleasure to celebrate our limited-edition wine with music in such an intimate environment for people to truly experience the magic of LG SIGNATURE and LVE,” says Legend.

“Ever since LG SIGNATURE’s launch more than six years ago, we’ve continuously worked to provide opportunities for people to connect with our premium brand and acquaint themselves with our unique vision for a truly luxurious lifestyle,” said Lee Jeong-seok, head of LG Electronics’ Global Marketing Center. “With ambassadors like John, who embody what this brand is all about, we’re able to communicate the meaning and premium value of LG SIGNATURE to a much wider audience.”

Slovenia: Europe’s Most Exciting New Culinary Capital

As the new video showcases, the unique advantage of Slovenian chefs is their privileged access to local ingredients. Slovenian culinary philosophy is based on the principle ‘from the garden to table’ and this is reflected in the close relationships between chefs and local producers, as well as the deep connections between Slovenian landscapes and traditional culinary experiences.

A unique insight into Slovenian gastronomy

Through the video, viewers will get to know the character and life of all six owners of a coveted Michelin star (Hiša Franko, two Michelin star Restaurant,  Hiša Denk, Atelje Restaurant, Vila Podvin, Dam Restaurant and Gostilna pri Lojzetu, all one Michelin star Restaurants), and explore how their relationships with local producers help define and inspire their world class culinary creations. Chefs Ana Roš, Gregor Vračko, Jorg Zupan, Uroš Štefelin, Uroš Fakuč and Tomaž Kavčič are all presented in the video with the opportunity for viewers to share their vision, dedicated work, passion and love for food and the environment.

Of course, no video about Slovenia would be complete without a look at the unspoiled nature and environment that helps create such a variety of unique local ingredients. It also includes a look at Slovenia’s award-winning winemakers, who are now being recognised by experts such as Decanter magazine as some of the best in the world.

The video was created in collaboration with the Slovenian Tourist Board with renowned National Geographic photographer and director Ciril Jazbec, internationally renowned director of photography Sven Pepeonik and food stylist Gruša Zorn.

Annie Grace Offers Advice for Tackling FebFest

"This Naked Mind" author shares gentle wisdom and insight

DENVER, Feb. 1, 2021 — Taking a break from something that isn’t good for you is always a good idea. Even better when you can raise money for an important cause at the same time. In asking people to abstain from alcohol for a month and raise money for disadvantaged youth, FebFest does both.

Annie Grace, author of "This Naked Mind" and "The Alcohol Experiment"
Annie Grace, author of "This Naked Mind" and "The Alcohol Experiment"

For some, the energy behind the importance of the fundraising mission will be enough to sustain their commitment to remaining alcohol free. For others, losing the booze will be more difficult.

"Starting a month-long challenge to abstain from alcohol is exciting and empowering," says Annie Grace, author of This Naked Mind and The Alcohol Experiment. "But, it can also be daunting. If alcohol is typically part of your daily life, removing it can be difficult. And, relying on willpower alone to drive your success can make it even harder."

Annie Grace offers the following advice to anyone taking a break from alcohol:

Be Kind – First and foremost, meet yourself with compassion, right where you are. Remember, alcohol is an addictive substance. It’s OK if abstaining is hard. There is nothing wrong with you.

Buddy Up – Don’t go it alone. There is strength in numbers. Find an accountability partner or even an entire community of people on the same journey. Support and learn from each other.

Get Curious – Don’t ignore alcohol this month. Rather, use the break to truly explore your relationship with alcohol. Learn how alcohol interacts with your brain and why simply flexing your willpower muscle might not be enough.

Write It Down – Document your experience in a journal. How do you feel? What was hard? What was easy? What did you notice about yourself without alcohol? What makes you want to drink?

Don’t Quit – If you slip and have a drink, try again. Even though it’s meant to be a month of abstinence, you do not have to declare defeat. Keep going. Do the best you can.

No matter why someone decides to participate in an alcohol free month, ultimately the best thing about their choice is the opportunity they give themselves to learn more about who they are both with and without the substance and determine what role they want alcohol to play in their lives in the future.

About This Naked Mind
Founded by Annie Grace in 2015, This Naked Mind (TNM) helps people end the conflict between their desire to drink less and their unconscious belief that alcohol is beneficial. Annie Grace overcame a decade of drinking by revamping her own relationship with alcohol. Today she helps others across the globe do the same – the 200,000+ people who’ve bought her books, the 350,000+ people who receive daily emails from her, the listeners who’ve downloaded her This Naked Mind Podcast episodes more than 8 million times, and the 200,000+ people who’ve gone through her free program, The Alcohol Experiment. Rather than teaching people how to be sober, TNM takes away the desire to drink. And, the approach helps people where rehabs have not. Join TNM on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.

Surging Australian Wine Exports Powered by Accela

New federal-level initiative marks the govtech SaaS leader’s first project with new strategic partner DWS and its second Microsoft Azure-hosted project in the APAC region

SAN RAMON, California, Sept. 23, 2020 — Australia’s AUD2.84 billion wine export sector has recently gone live with a new SaaS licensing and approval system powered by Accela technology that will help regulate the wine export process for the burgeoning Australian wine sector.

The new Wine Australia Licensing and Approval System (WALAS) is projected to process more than 200,000 transactions from more than 3,000 wine exporters from around Australia each year. The system provides end-to-end processing and allows exporters to apply online for licenses and certificates, with greater control of their applications, including review and payment online in real-time and 24/7 access.

"Our team at Accela is excited about this groundbreaking effort to support Wine Australia’s transition of essential workflows online, promote efficiency gains, and regulate a critical market for Australia’s economic growth," said Khaled Jaouni, International Managing Director at Accela. "Our collaboration with DWS in the Australian market demonstrates the collective power of our best-in-class solutions to help agencies at the federal, state, and local levels better serve their citizens and deliver results, and marks a significant milestone in Accela’s commitment to the Asia-Pacific region as our longest-running international operation of over a decade."

Wine Australia is an Australian Commonwealth Government statutory authority that regulates, promotes, and supports a competitive Australian wine sector. Its implementation of Accela’s cloud technology reflects the scalability of the govtech leader’s solutions within emerging, non-traditional areas of regulation to serve thousands of end customers.

"Wine Australia’s new system to manage the country’s growing number of wine exports reflects our commitment to employing modern digital tools to better serve our grape and wine community," said Andreas Clark, CEO at Wine Australia. "Our new Licensing and Approval System will help deliver enhanced services to our sector and help provide critical infrastructure to keep Australian wine flowing to our international markets."

The project marks Accela’s first joint execution with strategic partner DWS Limited (DWS), one of the region’s leading providers of project management services, and Accela’s second Microsoft Azure-hosted implementation in the Asia-Pacific region.

"Australia continues to be a worldwide leader in leveraging modern technology with its focus on SaaS-solutions, and this new system matches the country’s innovation," said Stuart Whipp, DWS CFO and Head of M&A. "We are excited about the execution of our first project in partnership with Accela, which brings together our market-leading project management capabilities with their cutting-edge technology to provide maximum impact at the federal level."

The announcement builds on Accela’s international leadership as the company continues to drive impact with some of the world’s most forward-thinking governments to benefit 275 million citizens globally. LG SIGNATURE Brings Alessandro Mendini’s Last Original Sketch to Life

SEOUL, South Korea, May 25, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — In celebration of National Wine Day, LG SIGNATURE is thrilled to present a special limited-edition “Alessandro M.” corkscrew, which was inspired by the ultra-premium brand’s lineup of distinctive appliances. As Alessandro Mendini’s last original hand-sketched design, the exclusive corkscrew will be provided as a gift to customers who purchase the LG SIGNATURE Wine Cellar in selected markets.

Earlier this year, LG SIGNATURE collaborated with Atelier Mendini – the design studio co-founded by the late designer – to bring Mendini’s exclusive last original sketch to life. The special edition corkscrew, of which just 1,500 have been produced, will be available for a limited time globally starting with the US market.

Drawn together by a mutual love of beautiful, functional design, LG SIGNATURE and Alessandro Mendini enjoyed a special partnership that began in 2018 when Mendini himself directed the triumphant LG SIGNATURE ARTWEEK, a series of curated exhibitions. At the time, he noted that LG SIGNATURE shares one of his core philosophies as an architect and designer, stating “The moment I saw LG SIGNATURE products, I sensed that the brand strives for harmony between function and design to the extreme.”

“It gives us great joy to present this limited-edition corkscrew which we see as a true celebration of art and technology coming together,” said Kim Jin-hong, head of LG’s Global Marketing Center. “It is also such an honor to be able bring Alessandro Mendini’s very last original sketch to life and know that it will bring so much value to LG SIGNATURE customers.”

Holding up to 65 bottles, the sleek and seamlessly designed LG SIGNATURE Wine Cellar boasts exclusive technologies that create the ideal storage environment for any variety or vintage, along with user-friendly features designed to make consumers’ lives easier. Temperature Control minimizes temperature fluctuations, ensuring the stable conditions necessary to preserve the flavor and texture of wine,[1] while Multi Temperature Control allows users to store several different types of wine – each in the exact climate-controlled conditions required. Flavor profiles are maintained with Vibration Control while wine quality, cork elasticity and label quality are preserved with Optimal Humidity Control.[2]
