For years, mastering Adobe’s Creative Cloud meant learning the distinct quirks of half a dozen different applications. If you wanted to build a complex campaign, you had to manually bounce between Photoshop, Premiere, and Illustrator, managing every tedious step yourself. Adobe is completely upending that workflow. The company has officially unveiled the Firefly AI Assistant, a powerful new creative agent designed to orchestrate complex, multi-step tasks across its entire software suite using nothing but natural language.

Moving From Tools to Outcomes
Instead of forcing you to figure out which specific tool to use, the Firefly AI Assistant lets you simply describe your desired final outcome. Operating through a unified conversational interface within the Firefly application, the agent actively figures out the necessary logic and executes the multi-step workflow behind the scenes. The system is built on roughly one hundred different skills and tools, allowing it to seamlessly handle tasks that span across flagship apps like Lightroom, Express, and Premiere. Crucially, the AI outputs its results in native Adobe file formats, meaning you can take the assistant’s work directly into Photoshop for manual, pixel-level refinements whenever you want to take back total control.
Creative Skills and Deep Personalisation
To speed things up, Adobe is introducing a library of pre-built workflow templates called Creative Skills. These allow you to execute comprehensive tasks, such as applying consistent portrait retouching across multiple images or generating formatted social media assets, all from a single prompt. Furthermore, the assistant acts as a true digital collaborator by actively learning your specific aesthetic preferences, favourite tools, and workflow habits over time to deliver highly personalised, context-aware results.

The agent’s capabilities also extend directly into project management. Through deep integration with Frame.io, you can instruct the Firefly AI Assistant to automatically organise your creative assets, share them with stakeholders for review, collect the incoming feedback, and even apply requested changes directly to the project.
Precision Editing and Third-Party Intelligence
Alongside the new assistant, Adobe is rolling out two practical image editing features designed to give creators more granular control over generative AI. Precision Flow allows users to generate a wide spectrum of results from a single prompt and use an intuitive slider to browse variations, ranging from subtle color shifts to dramatic structural transformations. Meanwhile, AI Markup lets creators draw directly on an image with a brush or rectangle tool to explicitly dictate exactly where and how generative edits should be placed.
Recognising that creators use tools outside the Adobe ecosystem, the company also confirmed it has partnered with Anthropic to bring Firefly AI Assistant compatibility directly to Claude, with more third-party integrations currently in the works. The Firefly AI Assistant is expected to enter a public beta phase in the coming weeks, signalling a massive shift in how professional creative work actually gets done.
