Samsung has quietly launched a new budget-friendly smartphone, the Galaxy A17 5G, with its debut in Europe and Taiwan. The Galaxy A17 is designed to offer a balance of performance and features, all at an accessible price point, and it is a good option for users who are looking for a reliable smartphone without breaking the bank.
A Budget-Friendly Phone with Flagship Features
The Galaxy A17 5G is powered by an Exynos 1330 processor, a capable chip that is designed to provide a smooth and efficient user experience. The phone comes in two variants, one with 6GB of RAM and the other with 8GB of RAM, both with 128GB of storage, which is expandable via a microSD card slot. For the camera, the Galaxy A17 5G is equipped with a triple-camera system on the back with a 50MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor. The front camera is a 13MP sensor that is housed in a waterdrop notch on the display.

The phone’s battery is a massive 5,000mAh unit that is designed to last for a full day of use, and it is supported by 25W fast charging, which is a great feature for a budget-friendly phone. It runs on Android 15 with One UI 7, which is the latest version of Samsung’s software. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a USB-C port, which are all welcome additions for a phone in this price range.
Display and Design
The Galaxy A17 5G features a large and immersive 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1080p. The 90Hz refresh rate is a great feature for a budget-friendly phone, as it provides a smoother and more fluid user experience. The phone’s design is also quite modern, with a very thin bezel and a waterdrop notch for the front camera. The phone comes in three colours: Black, Grey, and Blue.
