A high-resolution digital copy of the most famous depiction of a pair of lovers has been divided into a 100 x 100 grid, resulting in 10,000 inimitable individual pieces that are currently offered as non-fungible tokens, or NFTs. The "whitelisting" phase, when interested parties can register to purchase on the thekiss.art platform, started 26 January 2022 and will close this Thursday night, 10 February, at midnight or 00.00 am, Central European Time. If the sale is oversubscribed, allocation of the 10,000 NFTs will be decided by lottery. From 11 February, whitelisted buyers can complete the transaction within 24 hours. If any pieces are left after the whitelisting phase, they may be purchased from 12 February at thekiss.art. LG Energy Solution Announces Fourth Quarter and FY 2021 Results

  • Reports quarterly revenue of KRW 4.44 trillion, 10.2 percent higher than previous quarter; operating profit at KRW 76 billion
  • Targets revenue goal of KRW19.2 trillion with plans to spend KRW 6.3 trillion in capital expenditures for 2022

SEOUL, South Korea, Feb. 8, 2022 — LG Energy Solution (LGES; KRX: 373220) today reported solid performance in the fourth quarter of 2021, with consolidated revenue of KRW 4.44 trillion, up 10.2 percent from the previous quarter. The quarterly revenue growth was mainly driven by robust demand of pouch and cylindrical battery cells for electrical vehicles and small-sized pouch batteries for IT devices. The company posted consolidated operating profit of KRW 76 billion, since turning to profit in the fourth quarter.

For the full year, LGES reported KRW 17.85 trillion in revenue, up 42 percent from 2020. Annual operating profit was at KRW 768.5 billion while operating profit margin was 4.3 percent. The booming performance comes on the back of solid demand for electric vehicles as well as cylindrical batteries for EVs and light EVs.  

The annual earnings result took multiple factors into account, including a voluntary recall with General Motors for Chevrolet Bolt EV batteries, a recall of batteries for energy storage system (ESS) and a lump-sum payment of license fee from another industry player. Were it not for these one-time factors, LG Energy Solution’s annual revenue would stand at KRW 16.86 trillion, its operating profit at KRW 917.9 billion.

In 2022, LGES expects its revenue to reach KRW 19.2 trillion, up 8 percent on-year, over expectations of steady EV market growth. Without the aforementioned one-off factor, the revenue would be 14 percent higher, on-year.

In 2022, LGES plans to steadily expand its manufacturing capacity as its major partnering automakers plan to introduce new lineups of electric vehicles. LG Energy Solution is forecasting to see an improved market condition as the global chip shortage is expected to ease in the latter half of the year.

In preparation of the upcoming boost in global EV sales, LG Energy Solution is putting KRW 6.3 trillion in capital expenditures, up 58 percent compared to last year. With it, LGES aims to finance capacity expansion at its global manufacturing facilities including JV plants with GM.

JD.com Among FORTUNE 2022 World’s Most Admired Companies with Outstanding Social Responsibility Score

BEIJING, Feb. 3, 2022 — JD.com is ranked on the FORTUNE 2022 World’s Most Admired Companies list at No. 6 in the Internet Services and Retailing Category. Other companies listed in the Top 8 industry ranking include Amazon, Alphabet, Xiaomi and more.

This is the second time JD.com was named in this list, following last year. Xiaomi Strengthens Data Protection with Independent Audit of Compliance

BEIJING, Feb. 3, 2022 — Xiaomi, a consumer electronics and smart manufacturing company with smartphones and smart hardware connected by an IoT platform at its core, has today announced the findings of an independent review into its data protection compliance.

Xiaomi appointed TRUSTe LLC, a subsidiary of TrustArc, to conduct an independent audit of its data protection and security management. The review comprehensively evaluated whether the processing of personal information conducted by Xiaomi is performed in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union (EU). The TRUSTe review summary states: "The measures described in the GDPR Validation Assessment were suitably designed to provide reasonable assurance" that all 40 GDPR Validation Requirements would be met.

As the first ever Chinese enterprise to receive certification from TRUSTe, Xiaomi continues to submit to outside scrutiny when it comes to data protection and user privacy, adopting the GDPR of the EU compliance assessment since 2018.

The Validation Requirements focus on program-level measures in eight areas: Integrated Governance, Risk Management, Resource Allocation, Policies and Standards, Processes, Awareness and Training, Monitoring and Assurance, and Reporting and Certification. A member of the Global Privacy Solutions team from TRUSTe validated that Xiaomi has met the applicable Validation Requirements.

Cui Baoqiu, Xiaomi Vice President and Chairman of Xiaomi Security and Privacy Committee, said the GDPR Validation Assessment is an important step in continuously enhancing the company’s data and security compliance. Retailo Raises $36M million in Landmark Series A Round For Empowering Community Commerce in MENA Region

MENA’s fastest growing B2B start-up focusing on regional expansion and many new initiatives to carry momentum forward

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Feb. 2, 2022 — Retailo, the fastest growing startup in Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan (MENAP) which is digitizing the region’s retail supply chains, has raised $36 million in its Series A investment round which was a mix of equity and venture debt. Retailo’s Series A round has attracted leading investors with proven track records of impactful investments. The round was led by Silicon Valley based Graphene Ventures which was an investor of tech giants Snapchat and Lyft.

For Retailo’s Series A, Graphene is joined by leading investors that include 500 Global, Agility, Aujan, Tech Invest Com and Mentor’s Fund, all of which have the relevant exposure and investments in the retail industry’s technology companies. The venture debt was raised from Nahda Fund – one of the Middle East’s first venture debt funds which is backed by IMM Investment Global, based in Hong Kong. Additionally, Shorooq Partners, Abercross Holdings, Arzan VC, AgFunder also participated in the round as repeat investors which demonstrates their continuing belief in Retailo’s successful future.

Retail in MENAP is a $500 billion industry which consists of over 10 million small businesses to serve a population of more than 700 million consumers. However, the majority of this retail industry is informal and undigitized. Small businesses have to rely on inefficient supply chains and limited financial resources while operating on impossible margins. G Suite Legacy free edition is not available from 7/1/22: TS Cloud offers a free service to help businesses upgrade

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Jan. 28, 2022 — After more than 10 years of providing services to businesses, Google has announced that it will discontinue the G Suite legacy service starting July 1, 2022. G Suite Legacy is a productivity suite offered by Google Apps for Your Domain since 2006. The product has gone through several milestones, reintegrated with other Google products in 2020, and made its grand debut under Google Workspace by offering different editions with advanced features to meet the needs of businesses across various industries.

All accounts will be automatically upgraded starting from 5/1/22

On January 20, 2021, G Suite Legacy users received an announcement from Google saying the free edition will be automatically switched to Google Workspace starting May 1, 2022. If the users do not set up their billing by July 1, 2022, the account will be suspended. For more details, see required actions for G Suite Legacy users starting July 1, 2022.
