OTA is applied in people’s living for the 1st time

OTA is a new cloud-based download technology, which was noted in 2000 in Japan. The launch of iPhone by Apple in 2007 carried forward a smartphone era, accompanied by the massive use of OTA. Tesla Model S released in 2012 marked the first application of OTA in the automobile industry, overturned then moving forward to a brand-new smart age. It is OTA that enables Tesla vehicles to access new safety and navigation features on a regular basis, for improvements in vehicle performance and driving experience. The entire process requires an upgrade package only, and what an owner needs to do is just a click for upgrade confirmation.

This time around, OTA is adopted in people’s living by SEEDLAND for the first time.

As one of the earliest practitioners of smart living in China, SEEDLAND has been devising smart communities since 2018. SEEDLAND OTA smart community is upgraded significantly in three aspects, distinguishing itself from the traditional as well as the existing ones.

First, it upgrades from a product aspect, pivoting from a static community to a dynamic one with continuous enhancements in hardware, software and intelligence. As regards hardware, aside from covering main public areas and all home appliances, it can continuously introduce more new smart equipment, such as domestic robots, logistics robots, unmanned vehicles, delivery drones, among others. Its open and standard interface supports the access for devices from different manufacturers, and can be combined and replaced without restrictions. In respect of solutions, the smart community provides 200 solutions, unceasingly updates personalized services, and offers a growing number of cross-scenario services. Regarding deployment, SEEDLAND OTA smart community is capable of rapid deployment and upgrading as well as extensive coverage, thereby addressing the common problem of "falling behind upon delivery" faced by the existing traditional "smart communities".

Second, it upgrades from an experience aspect, pivoting from the device-centric isolated experience of single products to the human-centric cross-scenario experience characterized by interactions between things and between devices. In SEEDLAND’s OTA smart community, users’ offline behaviors, such as commute, health, consumption and socializing, will be digitized, and together with elevators, robots and other access devices, will produce a tremendous pool of IoT active data every day. Accordingly, the smart data center will build a petabyte data lake for the community to integrate and process data.

Third, the unique multi-modal face recognition capability in the community. The accuracy of face recognition technology has now exceeded 98% under complex conditions including strong light, dimming light, long distance and high angle. Besides, the constantly upgraded multimodal recognition technology can identify body parts and behavior patterns, and adapt to complicated community scenarios, say when people are mixed, blocked or crowded together or bump into others. Meanwhile, the accuracy of non-cooperative identification surpasses 95%, above the industry average of 90%. Thanks to this unique multimodal recognition technology, the recognition rate for special groups of people, including the elderly and children, far outstrips that of counterparts.

Fourth, the voice recognition capability in outdoor environment. It is the only commercially viable solution in the industry for now. The community scenarios are dominated by noisy outdoor environment, to which there is no satisfactory solution in the industry. Nevertheless, the recognition rate of SEEDLAND SLS’s AI voice algorithm in such environment is 60% higher than the main rivals. On top of that, its voice recognition in long-distance and mixed environment is remarkable.

Fifth, the cross-scenario capability of all-field intelligence. The experience has been boosted immensely from being device-centric to performing human-centric, achieved true spatial intelligence and unperceivable interaction by connecting data across time, so as to bring forth more innovative scenarios.

Baidu Executive Vice President highlights strategic growth initiatives that have transformed the company’s mobile ecosystem into a comprehensive service provider

Shen said the rise of the intelligent economy is bringing about change on three dimensions. Thirdly, Shen mentioned the impending shift in IT infrastructure, with AI chips, deep-learning platforms, or AI algorithms replacing traditional CPUs and operating systems as the backbone that will power the contemporary intelligent economy. 

In response to the changes brought about by the intelligent economy, Baidu has identified three major growth opportunities, Shen said in his presentation, namely service-oriented transformations, humanization, and the adoption of digital technology and AI across industries. The Baidu mobile ecosystem is capitalizing on these growth opportunities through a three-pronged strategic layout—Baijiahao for content creators, Smart Mini Programs for content and service providers, as well as Managed Pages for advertisers. Together, these pillars offer comprehensive capabilities that meet users’ fast-evolving needs, Shen said, and form a solid foundation for the long-term growth of Baidu’s mobile ecosystem.

The first facet of growth generation is to carry out service-oriented transformations, as users demand easier access to services. Although search engines were once platforms that solely provided information based on user queries, Baidu has since repurposed the informative abilities of its software into an integrated service ecosystem, establishing a convenient interface that can be widely tailored towards comprehensive user needs.

"Baidu App is not only the largest platform for Chinese people to obtain information and knowledge, it is also becoming a comprehensive service portal," Shen said. "We have continuously enriched the types of services we offer by introducing a wide range of Smart Mini Programs that address various service needs. Users can pay their electricity bill, book travel, rent a house, and watch movies on various Smart Mini Programs, all without leaving Baidu App."

The second facet of growth identified by Shen is to enhance humanization across the entire mobile ecosystem, creating more authentic connections between people. Baijiahao enables direct links between users and its 3.6 million accounts.

"In the past, our creators were behind the scenes. We now use various methods to connect creators and users directly, to shorten the service process. Baidu provides opportunities for users to directly communicate with the creator in our search results and address more potential service needs along with relevant content," said Shen. Users can now use Baidu to form relationships with content creators, service providers, and merchants, through following, messaging, live video and so forth.

The third opportunity stems from the fact that an increasing number of industries are bringing services online by implementing digitalization and undergoing intelligent transformation. For example, online healthcare has experienced explosive growth this year amid the global pandemic. Baidu has offered free pandemic-related consultations on "Ask Doctor", its online medical consultation platform, allowing users to remotely access personalized medical assessments from doctors through their devices.

The optimization of Baidu’s mobile ecosystem has allowed for improved user search experience, accurate information research, social media interaction and closed-loop purchase capabilities. In September, monthly active users (MAUs) on the Baidu App reached 544 million, up 12% year over year.

This thriving, comprehensive mobile ecosystem sets a strong foundation for Baidu to diversify beyond advertising into non-advertising services, such as membership, live streaming and online games. PixCell Medical to Enhance NSW Health Pathology’s Point-of-Care Testing Service

YOKNEAM ILIT, Israel, Dec. 2, 2020 — PixCell Medical, innovator of rapid diagnostic solutions at the point-of-care, announced today that NSW Health Pathology, the provider of public pathology services for the New South Wales (NSW) government, will deploy PixCell’s HemoScreen hematology analyzer for rapid, lab-accurate Complete Blood Count (CBC) testing, accessible at the point of care.

PixCell has worked closely with NSW Health Pathology over the past year to evaluate the HemoScreen and they are now in the position to pioneer the use of this innovative POCT technology in facilities across the state.

HemoScreen will enable true point-of-care testing (POCT) in terms of operation, electronic result delivery through an Internet of Things approach, ease-of-use, and transportability, while still providing core lab quality results. Outside of Sweden and Denmark, Australia will be the first country to get HemoScreen devices, which will soon be implemented throughout NSW.

The collaboration includes the installation of a large number of HemoScreen devices that provide the full 5-part differential CBC test with comprehensive abnormal cell flagging. In this initial deployment, NSW Health Pathology will implement HemoScreen devices within small labs, in large emergency departments without onsite labs, and to upgrade some existing technology. The devices will then be further assessed for utility in oncology clinics and other settings.
