Acer Brings A New Generation of the Ultra Portable Swift Go 14 to Malaysia

Acer’s Swift Series is expanding yet again with a new generation of the ultra-portable Swift Go 14. The latest entry into the Swift series comes equipped with the latest generation of Intel Ultra processors and a bevvy of cutting-edge AI-centric features.

The new Acer Swift Go 14 comes with the latest and greatest from Intel. Sporting either an Intel Core Ultra 7 or Core Ultra 5, the laptop is leveraging Intel’s AI Boost to unlock its AI-powered resources. The new processors from Intel also come with enhanced power efficiency. Intel’s Unison technology also allows the laptop to work seamlessly with both iOS and Android devices with integrated experiences for things like file transfers, calling, messaging and device management through a single interface.

Acer is also bringing a QHD 1440p webcam to the laptop. The hardware is complemented by Acer’s own AI powered features such as Acer PurifiedVoice and PurifiedView. Acer is also introducing a new feature called AlterView that uses AI-generated depth maps to convert 2D images into animated wallpapers with 3D effects.

The Acer Swift Go 14 comes with a larger touchpad. Of course, it goes without saying that the touchpad is made of OceanGlass which utilises ocean bound plastics keeping them out of our waterways. AcerSense is also integrated with a dedicated button that allows users to access and manage performance, laptop maintenance and personalise their experiences.

APAC businesses expected to nearly triple spending on generative AI to US$3.4bn in 2024: Infosys Research

Spending trails North America but adoption, effectiveness, and growth are among the highest globally

MELBOURNE, Australia, Jan. 27, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Companies across Asia-Pacific (APAC) are quickly ramping up investments in generative AI (GenAI) and entering a higher stage of maturity, according to new research from the Infosys Knowledge Institute (IKI), the research arm of Infosys (NSE, BSE, NYSE: INFY), a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting. While APAC companies currently lag behind their North American counterparts in GenAI spending, the research forecasts a bigger increase than in any other region – 140% in the next year. This translates to an estimated US$3.4 billion to be invested across Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, India, and Singapore.

Infosys’s Generative AI Radar APAC report includes insights from interviews with business leaders and AI practitioners and a survey of 1,000 respondents from Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, India, and Singapore. The report also highlights the following insights.

ANZ GenAI spending growth is among the highest in the APAC region and globally

  • Enterprises across APAC are investing heavily in GenAI. China leads the region, with investment expected to grow by more than 160% to US$2.1 billion, with Australia and New Zealand growth close behind.
  • ANZ investment is expected to grow by more than 150%, from US$60 million to US$151 million in 2024.

Australian companies are more likely to deliver business value from GenAI investments than European and North American counterparts

  • While Australia lags Europe and North America in current investment (as a proportion of GDP), the money it does spend, it spends more effectively.

Biggest obstacles to APAC adoption are caution around responsible AI, concerns about impact on reputation, and employee readiness

  • Responsible AI (data privacy, data usability, ethics and bias) is a concern for APAC countries, though ANZ is less concerned about data usability.
  • APAC is more cautious about GenAI’s business impact than North America and Europe; almost 10% expect a negative impact on reputation versus less than 5% for North America and Europe.
  • ANZ has the lowest level of employee readiness for generative AI, at 56%, compared to nearly 70% in other companies in the region. Firms in Australia and New Zealand are mostly looking to upskill their existing workforce to fill that gap.

APAC companies are more likely than other regions to see product development and content generation areas of greater impact

  • More companies in APAC (30%) than North America (20%) and Europe (25%) expect GenAI to be effective for streamlining product development and design – China drives this view, with nearly 35% emphasising this area for maximum GenAI impact.
  • APAC companies are also more likely to believe GenAI will transform content generation and creativity. Twenty-two percent of APAC firms held this sentiment, led by 30% Japanese companies holding this view.

Andrew Groth, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, Infosys, said: “Generative AI is clearly a transformative technology. Although company leaders across APAC have been more cautious than companies in the rest of the world, they are set to outpace firms in other regions. Additionally, they are already delivering more value from their spending on generative AI. To continue to make the most of this technology and to become AI-first organisations, they should focus on talent development and making AI more accessible through a platform ecosystem.”

Sennheiser Launched HD 490 PRO Reference Studio Headphones

Built to handle the complexities of today’s music production

The Sennheiser HD 490 PRO reference studio headphones are the perfect mix of clarity, comfort and reliability

SINGAPORE, Jan. 26, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Sennheiser today launched its brand-new open-back HD 490 PRO reference studio headphones, purpose-built for producing, mixing and mastering. The circumaural, dynamic headphones feature highly precise sound reproduction and a very wide and realistic sound stage. This superior accuracy and range give producers, mixing and mastering engineers, as well as musicians, the transparency they need for critical mixing decisions and for confidently resolving any panning placement issues. The HD 490 PRO and HD 490 PRO Plus (includes additional accessories) will be available in the next two months.

“If you compare today’s music productions with that of ten, 20 years ago, you will notice how the massively increased computing power and complex parameter automation have changed the way in which music is made,” shares Jimmy Landry, Category Market Manager for MI at Sennheiser. “In every genre, engineers and music creators are continuously pushing boundaries, creating extremely complex mixes that can be prone to so-called ‘audio blind spots’. Mixes can be crowded and muddy, with too many instruments sitting at the same position and their frequencies competing. For the engineer or musician, it becomes difficult to hear each individual instrument or voice distinctly. This goes to show the importance of a good pair of studio headphones.”

The Sennheiser HD 490 PRO is Sennheiser’s top-of-the range professional model for mixing, mastering and producing
The Sennheiser HD 490 PRO is Sennheiser’s top-of-the range professional model for mixing, mastering and producing

Full-spectrum audio accuracy

To tackle this complexity, the Sennheiser engineers have given the HD 490 PRO an extremely wide, dimensional sound stage for precisely localising the components of a mix. Ultralight voice coils ensure a fast and authentic sound reproduction. The frequency response is uncoloured and honest across the entire audio spectrum, with the low end being full, accurate, and clearly defined thanks to a special low-frequency cylinder. The open-mesh ear cup covers reveal Sennheiser’s Open-frame Architecture, which minimises resonances and distortion. For an optimal listening experience, the transducers sit at a slight angle, thereby emulating a typical monitor loudspeaker set-up.

The HD 490 PRO studio headphones deliver a wide, spatial sound stage with excellent localisation, enabling producers to create refined masters
The HD 490 PRO studio headphones deliver a wide, spatial sound stage with excellent localisation, enabling producers to create refined masters

“All these features combine to enable music professionals to identify and resolve any panning placement issues and troublesome low-end frequencies – ensuring clear mixes and superbly refined masters,” explains Gunnar Dirks, Sennheiser Product Manager. “The HD 490 PRO studio headphones put you in full control of every detail.”

A pleasure to wear

An excellent pair of studio headphones would only be half as good if it were uncomfortable. Therefore, the Sennheiser engineers have put decades of experience from professional headset design into the HD 490 PRO. Their lightweight, ergonomic design eliminates any pressure points, as the headband does not press on the sensitive parts of the head. Also, the circumaural ear pads feature a Sennheiser-patented soft comfort zone for the temples of glasses while maintaining good sealing.

A patent has also been applied for regarding the special axes geometry of the HD 490 PRO. This design makes sure that the headphones optimally adapt to the head when they are put on, and maintain an equal contact pressure no matter what the shape of the user’s head.

“When you’re creating music, the last thing you want is to be focusing on the fit of your headphones. The HD 490 PRO let you feel the music and forget about the headphones,” says Landry.

Two types of ear pads to perfectly adapt to the task at hand

“The development of the HD 490 PRO was preceded by the biggest professional headphone survey we ever did, where users voted neutral and flat reference audio as the most important feature,” explains Dirks. “However, when we took a look at market figures, we discovered that a slightly warmer sound was preferred over a 100% neutral response. Therefore, we decided to give our customers two headphones in one – by providing two different sets of ear pads that were carefully designed to shape the sound differently.”

The producing ear pads (velour) of the HD 490 PRO have a slightly warmer response to create perspective and help users make a holistic judgement of the sound. The mixing ear pads (fabric), on the other hand, allow for a very flat, neutral sound that helps dive into detail when a sound reference is needed in finishing off a mix. Both ear pads are washable – a solution that is both hygienic and sustainable.

The type of ear pad has a massive impact on sound reproduction – with the HD 490 PRO, users get two headphones in one. With the producing ear pads reproduction is slightly warmer, while the mixing ear pads help to drill down on the individual frequencies

A licence to dearVR MIX-SE

The HD 490 PRO includes a free licence for the innovative dearVR MIX-SE plugin from Dear Reality. The plugin turns a DAW into an ultimate virtual mixing environment, simulating the carefully designed acoustics of ideal mixing studios. Not only is the engineer or musician placed in the sweet spot, dear VR MIX-SE also helps them ensure a balanced and consistent translation of their mixes on different systems.

Attention to detail

The meticulous design of this top-of-the-range studio model does not stop with the accessories. For example, the headphone cable can be plugged into the right or left ear piece of the HD 490 PRO to cater to different studio set-ups and preferences. A patented cable coil structure ensures that the headphone cable does not transmit any noise when it hits the desk or rubs against the clothing. The left/right designation is clearly visible on the inside dust covers of the transducers, while for the visually impaired, the headband fork carries braille information.

Each HD 490 PRO is delivered complete with two different sets of ear pads (mixing and producing) plus a 1.8 m headphone cable and a dearVR MIX-SE licence. It retails at EUR 399 (MSRP) or USD 399 (MAP). The HD 490 PRO Plus, priced at EUR 479 (MSRP) or USD 479 (MAP), additionally includes a 3 m cable, a transport case, and an extra fabric headband pad in addition to the standard velour headband. All Plus extras are also available as individual accessories. A balanced headphone cable (EUR 39 MSRP, USD 39 MAP) is available as an optional accessory.

“If you are looking for studio headphones that give you the transparency and excellent localisation needed for crafting outstanding mixes, the HD 490 PRO are your choice,” says Jimmy Landry.

PETLIBRO Introduces the One RFID Pet Feeder for Personalized Pet Meals

Harnessing innovative RFID pet recognition technology, PETLIBRO’s latest smart feeder relieves mealtime stress in multi-pet households.

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 25, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — PETLIBRO, a leading US smart pet supply brand, has unveiled the latest addition to its innovative product line – the One RFID Pet Feeder. The state-of-the-art pet feeder, equipped with radio frequency identification (RFID) pet recognition technology, sets a new standard for managing individual needs in multi-pet households.

PETLIBRO’s latest feeder uses RFID pet recognition technology to accurately identify a designated pet before feeding
PETLIBRO’s latest feeder uses RFID pet recognition technology to accurately identify a designated pet before feeding

“We aim to give the most personal feeding experience to each pet,” said York Wu, Founder and CEO of PETLIBRO. “We know the dinner rush in a multi-pet home can be a stressful experience when there are specific diets, unique personalities, and eating habits to consider. We want to help make these daily moments easier for pets and their people.”

Pet Identification with RFID Technology

The One RFID Pet Feeder confirms a pet’s identity through an RFID tag that’s placed on their collar, before opening the food bowl lid for food to be served. This ensures individual pets receive the right nutrition at the right time, and addresses prevalent challenges common in multi-pet households, including food theft, food aggression, weight management, and the need to separate prescription food.

Monitor Eating Habits for Peace of Mind

With a lifetime log that records the time and frequency of meals, pet parents have full visibility of how much food their pets consume. In the dedicated PETLIBRO app, this mealtime data can be filtered by days, weeks, or months, and generate useful insights for a better understanding of a pet’s eating habits. This may also raise awareness towards abnormal pet eating patterns for earlier intervention.

Customizable Portions and Convenient Scheduling

With the ability to schedule up to 10 meals per day, pet owners can easily adjust feeding schedules according to their pets’ needs. Each meal can be adjusted according to the number of portions pet owners choose (1/8 cup per meal), ensuring precise and tailored feeding for each pet.

Enhancing Personality and Safety

With the PETLIBRO app, pet parents can sync their pet’s name to the One RFID Pet Feeder’s LED display, illuminating the room with their pet’s presence. In addition, the dedicated collar also features a QR code with the pet’s information and owner’s contact information, making it easier for pets to reunite with their owners if they get lost.

Priced at $149.99 with the inclusion of one collar tag, the One RFID Feeder is available at PETLIBRO’s official website and Amazon.

The Ryder is only available in red while the Hyper is available in three colours: red, blue and orange. If you run out of power, you won’t need to plug in as you can simply swap the battery out at a charging station. According to Yinson GreenTech, there are over 60 stations available in the Klang Valley area with more to come in the coming months.
