Lenovo YOGA Portal Packs Performance with A Small Footprint

This high-performance mini PC boasts impressive desktop-grade components packed into a surprisingly small form factor, making it ideal for content creators, professionals, and gamers who value power without sacrificing space.

Mighty Specs in a Tiny Footprint

The Yoga Portal defies expectations by fitting powerful hardware into a compact design measuring just 19.5 x 19.1 x 10.8 cm and weighing 3.5 kg. Don’t be fooled by its size; the Yoga Portal packs a serious punch when it comes to performance.

Under the hood, the Yoga Portal features a desktop-class Intel Core i7-14700 processor, boasting 20 cores and 28 threads. This powerhouse CPU should pack enough performance for demanding tasks like video editing, 3D rendering, and high-end gaming. The 5.4 GHz single-core boost clock promises smooth performance even under heavy workloads.

Complementing the processor is a powerful NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, a significant upgrade compared to the ThinkCentre Neo Ultra’s integrated graphics. This discrete GPU delivers exceptional graphics capabilities, allowing you to tackle demanding creative tasks and enjoy smooth gameplay at high resolutions.

Designed for Expansion and Upgradability

The Yoga Portal comes standard with 32GB of DDR5 memory, offering excellent multitasking capabilities and seamless application switching. Additionally, the memory is user-upgradeable, allowing you to further enhance performance as your needs evolve.

Storage is handled by a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, providing ample space for your files and applications. Similar to the memory, the SSD is also user-upgradeable, allowing you to expand storage capacity for larger projects and extensive media libraries. The Yoga Portal even offers a dedicated M.2 slot for adding an independent NPU card, potentially boosting AI performance for specific applications.

The rear panel provides even more options, including two additional USB-A ports (one USB 10Gbps and one USB 3.2 Gen 1), an HDMI 1.4 TMDS port, an HDMI 2.1a FRL port, and four DisplayPort 1.4a ports. Lenovo Releases the Latest Yoga 9i in Malaysia at MYR 7,299

We have just reviewed Lenovo’s creator powerhouse Yoga last week. The Yoga series is all about flexibility and portability. They are also usually about looks, which is not entirely what the Yoga we reviewed was all about. In that case, if unique looks is what you look for in a laptop, you might want to take a look at Lenovo’s latest addition to their line-up in the Yoga series for Malaysia, the Lenovo Yoga 9i.

You get a 14-inch OLED display that you can swivel around to turn it into a tablet. You can stand it like a tent too, and use it with a stylus. Below the IPS display is a Bowers & Wilkins soundbar that is built into the hinge mechanism, which also means it rotates with you to give you the best aural experience wherever the display faces.

The OLED panel boasts 2.8K in resolution with slim bezels. That also means you get very deep blacks with VESA DisplayHDR 5000 True Black. You also get highly accurate and vivid colours with 100% of DCI-P3 colour gamut. While not 120Hz, the 90Hz display is still plenty fast for everyday use cases or even movies.

The 90Hz display is plenty enough for the Yoga 9i though, since it is not made with gaming in mind. The Lenovo Yoga 9i packs Intel’s latest 13th generation Core i7-1360P processor. There is no discrete GPU here though, just a simple integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, hence you do not need 120Hz in the first place. Alongside the powerful CPU with integrated GPU is up to 16GB in DDR5 memory for seamless productivity with the machine. You also get up to 1TB of SSD storage for all your working needs.

Of course, the Lenovo Yoga 9i runs on Windows 11. It supports Windows Hello facial recognition too with a Full HD webcam paired with an IR blaster and ToF sensor. When you do not want to use your webcam, there is a physical privacy shutter too. Alternatively, you can use the fingerprint sensor for Windows Hello.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i will start at MYR 7,299 and is now available in Malaysia. You can head over to any of their exclusive stores to get your hands on one. If you do get one between 11th to 26th of February 2023, you are entitled to free gifts that are worth up to 3,315 including a 27-inch gaming monitor, a Yoga wireless mouse with laser pointer, and more. More on the Lenovo Yoga 9i can be found on their website.

Lenovo Launches the Yoga Slim 9i– Carbon Neutrality is Really a Thing

Being environmentally friendly and creating products that fits the bill should not be something new. It is, however, now cool to do it. Take the recently launched Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition for example, even a world renown organisation dedicated to global preservation recognises Acer’s effort in reducing their carbon footprint.

Acer is not the only company that is jumping on the ecologically friendly product bandwagon though. Dell has quietly been on that bandwagon for a while now, not the extremes of Acer, but they have been cutting down wherever they can. Now, we can add Lenovo to that list.

They have launched the new Yoga Slim 9i, a flagship that is created with carbon neutrality in mind. In fact, Lenovo’s new flagship thing-and-light has been certified as a carbon neutral product by TÜV Rheinland. They have also launched the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 series built for creators who are constantly on the move.

Carbon Neutral is Cool

  • 15 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Left 180 Degree
  • 14 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Left Side Screen Open
  • 13 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Thin Light
  • 12 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Standby Mode
  • 11 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Front Facing
  • 10 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Front Facing Left
  • 09 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Keyboard
  • 08 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Front Facing Right
  • 07 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Rear Facing Left

  • 04 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Tour Right Side Profile Closed
  • 03 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Tour Left Side Profile Closed
  • 02 Yoga Slim 9i Gen7 Hero Front Facing JD

It is the first laptop device in the world to be certified by TÜV Rheinland as a carbon neutral product. How? Lenovo never specified how. We speculate that Lenovo must have somehow offset the carbon footprint of the product in one way or another since they did not claim that the laptop has been made with recycled or recyclable materials.

While eco-friendliness can often be associated with lower build qualities and lack of durability, this is not the case with the Yoga Slim 9i. As its name suggests, the flagship laptop device is 14.9mm thick, or thin, depending on how you see it. The slim and svelte body is encased in durable 3D glass with smooth contours just to make sure that the laptop is comfortable in your hands.

The high-end device packs a 14-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and boasts up to 4K in resolution. It is an OLED PureSight display too so colours are sure to be as vibrant and true as they can be on the laptop. The OLED panel is also a Vesa Certified Display HDR True Black 500 and 10-bit colour depth to get a good 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The vibrant and immersive display is supported also by a powerful Bowers and Wilkins speakers for a great audio experience.

Inside the premium chassis, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 9i packs a lot of punch with Intel’s 12th Generation Core processors with Intel EVO certification. It also packs something called Lenovo A.I. Core 2.0 to automatically optimise performances and secure the laptop. It also ensures that the fans are always spinning adequately enough to ensure that your laptop always stays cool.

Prices and Availability

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 9i will be available in a few configurations. You can get it with an Intel Core i7 or an Intel Core i5. Both devices pack Intel’s Iris Xe graphics technology. You can also get spec it with either a 2.8K or 4K OLED display. It also only comes in one colour option, not black, they call it Oatmeal. The Lenovo Yoga Slim 9i will be available in the United States (U.S.) starting June 2022 onward for US$ 1,799 (MYR 7,865*). There are no confirmations on its local availability or prices so far.

The New Premium YOGA Line Up Hits Malaysian Shores Celebrating Malaysia

We have a small confession to make. We are quite big fans of a Lenovo notebook PC. We are especially excited with Lenovo’s YOGA series of products.

There are a few good reasons why we like a Lenovo YOGA product. They look stylish, for one. They are also always innovative in solving problems we never thought of before. They are also super functional and always very well built. They are made with more practicality, functionality, and durability in mind over other things.

Today then, is a special day for us, it is the launch day of two new YOGA notebooks for Malaysia. Today sees the launch of Lenovo’s YOGA Slim 7 and the YOGA Duet 7i. Today is the launch of a new sort of form factor in the YOGA series.

Lenovo YOGA Slim 7

The Lenovo YOGA Slim 7 is not the new form factor in the Lenovo YOGA series. It is technically the more traditional one compared to the two launched today. It is the regular clamshell notebook form factor. There are two variants of the new Lenovo YOGA Slim 7, one with Intel packed in and one with AMD packed in.

According to Lenovo, this is Lenovo’s lightest notebook PC with an 8-core CPU packed in. Yes, it is a powerful Intel Core i7-1065G7 CPU clocked at 1.3GHz. Paired with 16GB of RAM and NVIDIA’s GeForce MX350 GPU, the new Slim 7i is a powerhouse on the go.

Its ample power can easily edit and work with Full HD 1080p videos on the go and you can store all of that in the provided 512GB SSD storage. Of course, you can enjoy Full HD videos too on the 14-inch Full HD 10-point multi-touch display. That and stream Netflix steadily and at a high resolution with the WiFi 6 it comes with. Security wise, you are protected via Windows Hello with an IR blaster beside the 720p webcam for facial recognition.

But it is not just all function and no form though. The Slim 7 comes with a variety of top shell to make you stand out from the crowd. You can choose between a fabric or aluminium top shell. While fabric top shells are nothing new, it does add to the premium feel of the notebook though.

There is an AMD version of the notebook too. The AMD variant is specced with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U, no slouch at 2.3GHz clock speed and Radeon Graphics. The CPU Is paired to an 8GB RAM as well to make quick work of all the document processing you need. You still get 512GB of SSD storage too, for quick access to your folders and documents. Load times are greatly reduced too with an SSD.

Lenovo YOGA Duet 7i

Source: Lenovo

In our opinions, this is probably one of the most exciting YOGA convertibles that we may have seen so far. It is not like a usual Lenovo YOGA convertible where you fold the keyboard away. Instead, you can now detach the keyboard to make the Duet 7i a proper 13-inch tablet with a kickstand.

This is something that graphic designers might really like. It comes with something called E-Color Pen. It is a battery powered stylus, but it is more than just a stylus. It is also a colour sensor that allows you to pick up colours of any surfaces to be used in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator.

Of course, a designer needs to work with colours and good visuals. For that they get a 2K resolution IPS display with Dolby Vision to work with. But they need some working power too, to get the best out of their talents and stylus.

The Lenovo YOGA Duet 7i comes packing an Intel Core i5-10210U quad-core CPU cocked at 1.6GHz. The CPU is paired with an 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of SSD storage space to make quick work of any visual workload requirements too. While you would appreciate a discreet GPU, the Intel UHD Graphics GPU is powerful enough to work with the likes of Adobe’s Photoshop and Illustrator.

The Batik Boutique Collaboration

Lenovo Malaysia has collaborated with The Batik Boutique, a social enterprise empowering the art of Batik fashion in Malaysia. The Batik Boutique prides themselves as a local Batik Producer that partners with local artisans and taylors for their products. The collaboration with Batik Boutique is an interesting one that is happening during the national celebrations.

The Batik Boutique and Lenovo Malaysia collaboration does not mean that you get a new fabric pattern on the Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i unfortunately. It does mean that you can get special edition sleeves for both the YOGA Slim 7i and YOGA Duet 7i though. The special sleeves are limited edition sleeves to celebrate the Merdeka and Malaysia day celebrations.
