Communicators Make Historic Strides in C-suite Impact

Nearly half (47%) of global survey respondents now report directly to the CEO

CHICAGO, Jan. 27, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Cision, a global comprehensive consumer and media intelligence and communications platform, today released its 2023 Global Comms Report: A Seminal Moment in partnership with PRWeek, highlighting an overall elevation of the role of strategic communicators within C-suites across the globe, with nearly half now reporting to the CEO. The sixth annual report examines the positioning of strategic communications professionals outlining feedback from 440 industry professionals across 10 countries about their performance and sentiment.

The report showcases how recent global unrest from COVID, the Great Resignation, the war in Ukraine, and racial justice movement, have accelerated the evolution of the relationship between CEOs and communication teams. Communications professionals are moving into the C-suite with nearly half (47%) now reporting to the CEO directly, a stark contrast from 2020, in which 57% reported communications was part of marketing. Despite the challenges, 58% describe themselves as “optimistic” about the position of communications in relation to the C-suite heading into 2023 in the U.S.

“The bar for strategic communications has been raised, and the industry is ready to rise to the challenge. Communications teams must be able to demonstrate their value to organizations utilizing data analysis, artificial intelligence and human expertise,” said Putney Cloos, Chief Marketing Officer of Cision.

“The numbers clearly show the C-suite not only understands and respects PR’s value as a business mover, but it actually expects communications to deliver in ways it never has before,” said Gideon Fidelzeid, Editorial Director at PRWeek. “Of course, with great accomplishments come greater challenges and responsibilities, but I’d put my money on PR and the brands they support thriving in this new era of communication.”

Additional Takeaways:

  • Global Growth: More than four times as many respondents say their teams are bigger compared to last year.
  • Bullish Budgets: Nearly 68% of respondents report budget increases from last year and nearly 67% expect increases next year.
  • Social Media: Reliance on both earned (48%) and paid (47%) segments has increased the most year on year.
  • Content Challenge: Key tasks like aligning metrics to revenue (50%), converting data into actionable insights (50%), and overreliance on media impressions (49%) are the top areas where respondents globally continue to struggle.

OutSystems Named a Leader and Positioned Highest for “Ability to Execute” in 2023 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms

Recently recognized as “Customers’ Choice” in the 2022 Gartner Peer Insights™ Report1, OutSystems is named a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for the sixth consecutive time

SINGAPORE, Jan. 25, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — OutSystems, a global leader in high-performance application development, today announced it has once again been named by Gartner, Inc. as a Leader in the January 2023 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms (LCAP). In its sixth consecutive time as a Leader2, OutSystems was positioned highest on the vertical axis for “ability to execute”  based on its product/service, sales execution/pricing, customer experience, market responsiveness/record, overall viability, marketing execution, and operations.

Low-code development continues to see high adoption growth due to demands for greater velocity in application delivery across large and midsize organizations with extreme engineering efficiency, continued scarcity of tech talent, and growing hybrid or borderless workforces. “LCAP continues to be the largest segment of low-code and is expected to reach $18.2 billion by 2026 at a CAGR of 23.6% from 2021 through 2026″.3

“The demand continues to intensify for new and superior apps that drive efficient operations and improve the bottom line. Faced with complex legacy systems and limited resources, development teams need an open platform that helps accelerate their pace of innovation for new customer experiences, services, and integrations,” said Paulo Rosado, Founder and CEO of OutSystems. “OutSystems is changing the way software is built through high-performance application development. Along with our platform, we’ve built one of the industry’s most robust ecosystems of low-code-specific app components to help all teams build exactly what their business needs now, with the power to rapidly evolve and innovate for the future.”

Unlike other vendors in the market, OutSystems enables a high-performance software development approach, which elevates the performance and productivity of development teams so they can build applications of any complexity or scale. The company’s evolutionary approach to software development also gives customers the power to continuously evolve, integrate, and extend enterprise-grade applications to address new business demands and opportunities. The company’s high-performance approach also allows users to create a wide variety of strategic, mission-critical apps to address their current and emerging business needs.

Customers Validate the Power of High-Performance App Development

In addition to the January 2023 Magic Quadrant, OutSystems was also recognized as the “Customers’ Choice” in the March 2022 Gartner Peer Insights “‘Voice of the Customer’: Enterprise Low-Code Platforms” report, based on user reviews and feedback. Since the launch of the Peer Insights platform, users have shared more reviews (more than 700 reviews and counting) of OutSystems than of any other enterprise low-code vendor, with an overall score of 4.5/5 stars as of 11th January 2023.

“The role of the IT leader has never been more difficult. The backlog of applications continues to grow and teams simply don’t have the time or resources to keep up,” said Pete Peterson, CTO of Riviera Partners. “I have used OutSystems at three different organizations, and each time, it was the catalyst for transformation. My teams and I have built strategic apps at a rapid pace while delivering exceptional value and saving millions of dollars in production costs. This is not a regular low-code tool, it’s a platform for innovation.”

“We live in a world that requires our digital solutions to grow with our mission, to quickly extend value as opportunities arise, and to meet our constituents in a personalized and modern fashion,” said John Rathje, Vice President and CIO, Division of Information Technology, Kent State University. “OutSystems provides us the development platform to quickly turn ideas into value, and it meets our goals for a sustainable and extensible solution architecture.”

ZVISION Announces NVIDIA Isaac Sim Robotics Platform Support to Empower Powerful Tools for Industrial Sensing

BEIJING, Jan. 7, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — ZVISION, a leading provider of solid-state MEMS LiDAR solutions, announced at CES2023 that it will work with the NVIDIA Isaac Sim advanced simulator to create powerful tools enabling the validation of industrial sensing solutions, satisfying the demands of high-performance LiDAR simulation for more application scenarios and fully adaptive testing.

NVIDIA Isaac Sim, a tool for robotics simulation applications and synthetic data generation, is used by robotics experts to train and test robots more efficiently, recreate realistic robot interactions within specified settings, and validate the performance in different scenarios that go beyond the real world. With Isaac Sim, companies have dramatically reduced the costs of development, testing, and data acquisition, and accelerated time-to-market for commercial deployments.

NVIDIA Isaac Sim features many scenarios and application environments, using its accurate physics-based rendering to reproduce multiple shapes and sizes of obstacles to form a complete functional scene. The platform also allows users to validate the performance state and technical capabilities of LiDAR against the complexity and uncertainty of a given scene. With the digital twin, in combination with a variety of surroundings and different use scenarios available in Isaac Sim, developers in the robotics field can determine which performance modes are most suitable for the selected application based on solutions for complex edge cases.

As NVIDIA’s robotics simulation platform, Isaac Sim offers the benefit to develop, test and evaluate robotic systems and algorithms in a simulation environment. Developers and researchers can also use Isaac Sim’s many tools, including simulation of robot dynamics to test control algorithms, simulation of robot sensors to generate realistic cameras, depth and segmentation images, LiDAR perception, IMU, simulation of testing algorithms in different environments and condition scenarios, and providing training sets of random objects and attributes.

The MEMS LiDAR portfolio created by ZVISION includes the ML-30s+ short-range LiDAR and the ML-Xs forward long-range MEMS LiDAR. The ML-30s+ short-range LiDAR is the best for perception with detection range of 25m@R=10% and an ultra-wide field of view (FoV) of 140°X70°. Robots can view surrounding objects more clearly, and the higher quality image like point cloud captured with an angular resolution of 0.44°x0.44°. The FoV of 140°, which is larger than the typical 120°, not only covers more wider area, but it can also detect objects in the corresponding edge area faster and sooner without adjusting the heading angle. In order to detect and identify objects more accurately in blind areas, the vertical FoV of 70° is set at 20° above and 50° below the horizontal. The ML-Xs, a MEMS long-range LiDAR with outstanding exceptional capability, also equips a 1550nm laser with effective range of 250 meters and an FoV of 120°x25°. The ultra-long range-sensing capability can accurately cover further locations and identify obstructions in the forward path. As a result, the features and performance of the ML series LiDAR model as defined by Isaac Sim simulation software will further advance the development of industrial sensing solutions.

As a member of NVIDIA’s Jetson partner ecosystem,  ZVISION will continue to strengthen its collaboration and support for NVIDIA Isaac Sim to develop comprehensive robot sensing capabilities and deliver high-performance LiDAR solutions.

Most vehicles are equipped with ‘distributed control architectures’, where dozens of electronic controllers function individually to provide mobility solutions. In this form of architecture, application of new software is much restricted due to each controller’s hardware-related constraints and other complex interrelations. To address this problem, diverse attempts are being made to integrate multiple electronic controllers on the next-generation automotive architecture. This phenomenon can be observed in DCU(Domain Control Unit), which integrates controllers of different functions, as well as in Z-ECU(Zonal Electronic Control Unit) which integrate controllers of different zones regardless of  Functions and Zones. Building upon the successful commercialization of DCU for autonomous driving, HL Klemove, in collaboration with Sonatus, plans to accelerate the development of next-generation automotive architecture technologies, including Z-ECU.

A vast amount of data is required to operate mobility solutions. Given that, stable data communication in a vehicle is an essential requirement for controller integration—the biggest reason for HL Klemove’s partnership with Sonatus. Sonatus not only possesses a high-quality communication platform, but it also succeeded in commercialization of vehicle communication controls, such as *CCU(Central Communication Unit). The two companies plan to focus on developing next-generation integrated control platforms; a prerequisite for realizing future vehicles such as SDV(Software-Defined Vehicles).

HL Klemove’s CEO, Pal-joo Yoon said at the CES site that day, “The CCU we introduced at CES was the first output of our collaboration with Sonatus,” adding, “By building the next-generation automotive architecture, we will ensure thorough preparation is made when facing the new automotive paradigm; the SDV.”

Sonatus, located in Silicon Valley is a mobility software developer founded in 2018, with a vision to helping vehicles become “Data Centers on Wheels.” Global automakers are paying close attention to its network-based communication and data solution technologies.

At every turn of the year, we always think of the great character of resilience that the Chinese nation has carried forward through millennia. It gives us still greater confidence as we continue our way forward,” he said.

Over the past year, I have hosted quite a few friends, both old and new, in Beijing; I have also traveled abroad to communicate China’s propositions to the world. Changes unseen in a century are unfolding at a faster pace, and the world is not yet a tranquil place. We cherish peace and development and value friends and partners as we have always done. We stand firm on the right side of history and on the side of human progress. We work hard to contribute China’s wisdom and solutions to the cause of peace and development for all humanity,” he said.

ITU-T provides an international platform for telecom and ICTs industry and a unified voice for the industry. TECNO’s four on-going work items led by it in building mobile terminal computational photography standards were accepted by ITU-T experts all over the world following a rigorous assessment process.

The four newly accepted proposals accepted by ITU-T are detailed as below.

F.DC-MTCPS-PFM: Metadata Management in Image Processing Algorithms

Smartphone manufactures have made huge leaps in mobile photography but also face a series of challenges in image processing algorithms. Differences from manufacturers’ image devices, image processing algorithms, as well as the data definition and format have caused compatibility and consistency problems, which may further increase the cost in development and maintenance.

TECNO focuses on solving practical problems and has been trying to establish the architecture, control, and processing flow for MTCPS. TECNO’s proposal will not only be conducive to improving the efficiency of the image processing process, but also promote the technology interoperability in the industry, bring the application of computational photography technology to a new level.

ITU-T F.DC-AWBE: Guarantee for AWB Training Data Consistency and Reality

Every camera manufacture is striving to solve the problem of “color cast” and capture the ideal “white light” for a better image quality. AUTOMATIC WHITE BALANCE(AWB) is a main approach in computational photography to mitigate the problem. However, due to the difference in data collection and annotation in the industry, the training data used in AWB is often prone to inconsistent and unreliable, which is detrimental for the enhancement of AWB module in the MTCPS. TECNO’s team had made lots of efforts and technological breakthroughs on AWB enhancement in recent years. Now, the ITU-T draft Recommendation TECNO submitted provides a chance to turn the tables by unifying the data collection and annotation in the industry. The training data used in AWBE become more consistent and reliable thus benefiting for the technology enhancement. It will provide a more fluent and reliable experience in data transmission between different mobile terminals.

F.DC-IAA-Meta: Significant Progress in Image Aesthetics Assessment

Today’s customers not only require high-quality images taken by mobile phones, but also ask for the subject looking more beautiful. The former can detect the quality through objective evaluation of the image, but the latter often use the image subjective evaluation to assess aesthetics.

TECNO is famous for its localized and inclusive aesthetics algorithms in international market. And now it becomes an aesthetics assessment pioneer by proposing an image aesthetics assessment (IAA) draft Recommendation in ITU-T SG16 2022. It divides the dimensions of the IAA metadata into three key roles: photographer, camera, and viewer, and provides specific and core aesthetic attributes of each dimension. TECNO will make up for the lack of standards in the IAA industry in subjective image aesthetics assessment and effectively improves smart phones’ additional attributes. For example, it can help manufacturers design beauty software that better meets user needs and guide users in multiple dimensions to assist them get better photos.

F.DC-MTCPS-MCC: Standardization on Multi-camera Collaboration

Multi-camera collaboration, one of the most important features from computational photography, is used to elevate the imaging quality of smartphones to levels that are comparable to some DSLR cameras. However, TECNO’s team noticed that the wide range of camera application scenarios and different operating systems will cause some technical gaps which may make the multi-camera collaboration technologies incompatible between manufacturers.

To solve this problem, the expert from TECNO illustrates the typical application scenarios, reference architecture and related requirements for multi-camera collaboration. By standardizing the multi-camera collaboration in MTCPS, specifications can be shared, thereby promoting industrial collaboration, and improving production efficiency. Leveraging the industry-leading technology, TECNO keeps innovating and takes the application of multi-camera collaboration in its premium smartphone such as the upcoming PHANTOM X2 series.

With computational photography being the trend of smartphone image development, TECNO keeps achieving milestones through collaborations with industry partners and authoritative organizations to establish international standards in MTCPS. TECNO’s roadmap of setting MTCPS standard started in 2020, when TECNO established working groups and join the ITU officially. At the same year, TECNO present the first proposal for “F.DC-MTCPS: Reference architecture for mobile  terminal computational photography system” draft Recommendation submitted  which made TECNO as the leading player for the official launch of the standardization of MTCPS. Now, TECNO expands its presence within the field by improving the four more standard proposals in different angles base on the proposed reference system architecture.

With the ubiquitous computational photography, TECNO will continue investing in camera R&D to improve its level of computation photography’s innovation and technological breakthroughs and promote the completion of international standards in the MTCPS, creating greater value for smartphone industry and customers.
