China Unicom and ZTE conduct industry’s first commercial trial of Intelligent Radio Network Orchestration Solution

SHENZHEN, China, June 11, 2021 — ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the mobile internet, and China Unicom have done a commercial trial of the industry’s first Intelligent Radio Network Orchestration Solution, with both user orchestration and network orchestration, in Dalian, China.

At the beginning of 2021, ZTE released the industry’s first Intelligent Orchestration Radio Network Solution, based on the ZTE’s vision and the work for 5G network development. Powered by base station native intelligence, this solution improves user experiences by virtue of user orchestration and network orchestration, meeting more diverse requirements of both B2B and B2C services.

The results show that user orchestration can achieve improvement in both 5G user experiences and 5G camping ratio. The uplink NR low-throughput user ratio is reduced by 50% while the handover delay is reduced by 50% and the 5G camping ratio is increased significantly.

Furthermore, when 4G/5G dynamic spectrum sharing is on, the network orchestration can automatically adjust the spectrum configurations according to the traffic requirements. The average 5G user throughput is increased by 20%-130% adapting to spectrum configuration, while the 4G user number and traffic remain unaffected. This brings new possibilities to NR user experience improvement and O&M simplification in the 4G/5G dynamic spectrum sharing scenario.

To date, ZTE and China Unicom have made great progress in various innovation pilot fields.  For instance, ZTE won the ICT China 2020 Annual Excellent Solution Award for its trusted sharing solution based on the blockchain technology in the 5G RAN sharing scenario, and was rewarded the Best Practice Award for 5G Network and Terminal Coordination for its 5G low-altitude private network.

Moving forward, ZTE and China Unicom will collaborate further with each other in intelligent radio network orchestration from standards, products and services to facilitate research, development and commercial applications, aiming at building 5G networks with enhanced user experiences and network efficiency.

Dubber March 2021 Quarterly Activities and Business Update

MELBOURNE, Australia, April 30, 2021 — Dubber Corporation Limited (ASX: DUB) (‘Dubber’ or ‘the Company’), the leading global Unified Call Recording & Voice Intelligence cloud service designed for service providers and businesses of any size, is pleased to release an update on the Company’s operating focus along with the Appendix 4C for the quarter ended 31 March 2021.

Highlights:

  • Annualised Recurring Revenue (ARR) increased 20% QoQ ($5.6m) to $34m and 158% pcp ($13.2m)
  • Revenue increased 54% ($2.32m) to $6.6m QoQ and 152% pcp ($2.61m)
  • Operating cash receipts increased 54% ($2.31m) to $6.55m QoQ and 362% pcp
  • Dubber users now exceed 380,000
  • The Company has a strong balance sheet, with in excess of $37.7m as at 31 March 2021

Growth in all key metrics – Users and ARR

During the March quarter the Company’s key metrics all experienced substantial growth.

User numbers grew at a record rate for Dubber’s SaaS monthly subscriptions. The Company expects user growth to increase significantly in the current quarter due to new initiatives including the launch of its Foundation Partner Program. Foundation Partners embed Dubber services within their offering as a standard and in-built feature – from which both Dubber and the partner then benefit from upgrading users to richer functionality and offerings.

The March quarter represents a milestone period relating to comparative user growth quarter on quarter. The Company expects to receive Foundation and consumption-based revenues moving forward with larger and varying user attachment rates to those revenues. Therefore, as previously indicated, the key growth metric relating to short term growth is the Company’s Annualised Recurring Revenue (ARR) which has grown by $5.6m, to in excess of $34m.

Telecommunications Networks Growth and Yield

The Company continued to expand its footprint of service provider networks along with increasing penetration and revenue yield from its current telecommunication and Unified Communication (UC) platform partners.

AT&T

During the quarter, the Dubber platform went live on three AT&T networks: AT&T IP Toll-Free, AT&T Hosted Voice Service (HVS), and Cisco Webex Calling with AT&T.  All three of these networks target large enterprise, government, education, and business clients. The HVS and Webex Calling networks are already providing positive uptake in SaaS monthly subscription users and services.

AT&T’s IP Toll-Free is a major global network carrying calls for the largest organisations in North America and is billed on a per minute consumption rate. Dubber’s recording, API, transcription and AI services will also be billed on a per minute rate at accretive unit increments, thereby introducing meaningful consumption based revenue streams to Dubber.

Currently, AT&T and IBM are engaged with existing mutual large enterprise customers to demonstrate the value of the newly available services on the platform which add substantial insights to those organisations, enabling them to gain valuable business intelligence from their voice data.

The Company expects the Dubber platform to be live on additional AT&T networks in both the short and medium term.

Unified Call Recording Momentum

The Company has previously referenced Unified Call Recording (UCR) which defines the Company’s unique value proposition of unifying call recording and voice data at scale. UCR reflects how businesses and individuals work today, particularly in Covid-19 driven ‘work from home’ settings and hybrid work environments.

The Company has recently become one of only two vendors certified for Compliant Call Recording for Microsoft Teams.

Dubber is already the embedded and only recording offering for Cisco’s Webex Calling platform with the Company expecting to substantially extend its relationship and availability with Cisco Webex in the near term.

During the quarter, the Company also announced availability of a Unified Call Recording solution for Zoom that allows for secure compliance and voice intelligence call recording for Zoom Meetings as well as Zoom’s recently launched cloud phone service, Zoom Phone.

Typical business communications usually involve the use of desk phones, mobiles, and UC services such as Cisco Webex, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Dubber is uniquely placed to be able to capture recordings and voice data from all services and store them in a single location, the Dubber Voice Intelligence Cloud, where they can be managed centrally.

Behind these UC platform announcements is an industry trend whereby large global service providers are releasing their own network offerings in conjunction with cloud collaboration platforms like Zoom Phone, Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex Calling. Dubber has detected a pronounced acceleration of telecommunication services moving to a cloud environment, either from traditional telecommunications carriers or by stand-alone UCaaS services in the last two quarters.  By virtue of its unique ability to be embed into the fabric of a network and operate at scale, the company is a significant beneficiary of this trend and we believe it will continue to accelerate globally in the quarters ahead.

Foundation Partner Program

The Dubber platform has been designed specifically for large scale availability across telecommunications networks, as opposed to legacy bespoke recording products for enterprises, which are largely tied to on premise equipment, capital expenditure and call centre environments.

The Company expects several of its service provider partners to deploy the Dubber platform as a standard feature across their network base as "Dubber Foundation Partners". The Company is actively engaged in discussions with major service providers to become Foundation Partners and expects the first initiative of this kind will take place in the current quarter.

This will provide the Company large scale customer reach into end user accounts for jointly upselling additional services, including extended storage, transcription, AI insights and more.

Steve McGovern, CEO, Dubber:

"We are delighted to have delivered such a strong quarter, achieving outstanding growth in all of our key metrics.  The company is very well positioned to continue to take advantage of the major shift towards cloud based and ‘work from anywhere’ communications we are seeing in all our geographies. Governments and businesses understand the need to act on the requirement to capture conversations and voice data across their entire business. Ever expanding requirements to record and store conversations for proactive compliance and dispute resolution, and, revenue, customer and personnel intelligence all continue to drive the need for voice data and intelligence at scale. We remain very positive as to Dubber’s growth and leadership."

Related Party Expenses

In line with requirements of lodgement of the attached Appendix 4C, the Company advises that payments shown in Item 6.1 of the Appendix 4C are in relation to Executive and Non-Executive Director remuneration (including superannuation) and form part of the operating expenses for the March quarter.

This ASX release has been approved for release to ASX by Steve McGovern, CEO & Managing Director.

About Dubber:

Dubber is unlocking the potential of voice data from any call or conversation. Dubber is the world’s most scalable Unified Call Recording service and Voice Intelligence Cloud adopted as core network infrastructure by multiple global leading telecommunications carriers in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Dubber allows service providers to offer call recording for compliance, business intelligence, sentiment analysis, AI and more on any phone. Dubber is a disruptive innovator in the multi-billion-dollar call recording industry, its Software as a Service offering removes the need for on-premise hardware, applications or costly and limited storage.

US Companies Invest in Switched Ethernet Services to Connect to Cloud-based Applications, Says Frost & Sullivan

Enterprises are evaluating the benefits of fixed versus usage-based network services to align with pay-as-you-go cloud-based services

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 22, 2021 — Frost & Sullivan’s recent analysis finds that continued demand for bandwidth and cloud connectivity needs are sustaining Ethernet demand in the United States business markets. Market maturity, downward pricing pressure, and lack of sustained demand for point-to-point Ethernet services with SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network) will result in the market dropping from $6.35 billion in 2021 to $5.94 billion by 2024. COVID-19 has forced many enterprises to alter their strategies, while some have decided to hold off on making network purchase decisions, others invested in site upgrades because there was a demand for increased bandwidth. This study presents key trends, market revenue and ports forecasts, a market share analysis, and growth opportunities. It is segmented by transport distance (metro versus long haul) and service type (dedicated or port-based services versus switched or VLAN-aware services).

"Although the market is declining, there is still demand from enterprises that consume Ethernet services for their flexibility, scalability, and reliability," said Gina Sanchez, Industry Principal, Frost & Sullivan. "There will be a sustained call for switched services (Ethernet virtual private line (EVPL) services, in particular) since companies benefit from purchasing a single user network interface (UNI) port and creating multiple Ethernet virtual circuit (EVC) to share the bandwidth among different applications."

Sanchez added: "The adoption of Ethernet by enterprises to connect to cloud-based applications is driving the demand for dynamic bandwidth capacity on Ethernet networks. Enterprise users are evaluating the benefits of fixed versus usage-based network services to align with pay-as-you-go cloud-based services. Therefore NSPs are increasingly shifting from selling fixed bandwidth services to dynamic bandwidth options using SDN technologies."

Market participants should closely look at the following growth opportunities:

  • Support for Continued Demand for Bandwidth: As enterprises seek higher-capacity ports to support the growth in bandwidth-hungry applications, network service providers (NSPs) must offer speed configurations, ensuring the service’s reliability through strong service-level agreements (SLAs) and performance management solutions that build customer trust.
  • Cloud Connectivity and Cloud Services: As companies focus on network performance and reliability, NSPs must provide flexible and scalable approaches to Ethernet services. Expanding footprint and network is also important.
  • Focus on Customer Experience: Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-defined products are a basic feature, and network service providers should focus on the customer’s digital experience to differentiate their offerings (portals, systems, and processes).
  • Leverage Dynamic Ethernet Services: Service providers should give customers greater control over their network and bandwidth efficiency. Dynamic Ethernet, or bandwidth on demand, is important.

Huawei Launches New Data Center and Power Supply Solutions Globally

SHENZHEN, China, March 22, 2021 — Huawei launches next-generation Data Center and Power Supply Solutions at the Digitally Transforming Energy Infrastructure online event, the company also interpreted the latest trends in digital power development, tackling head-on the key questions of the day, from green energy to intelligent transformation.

Make Any Room a Data Center

Huawei promised to make any room a data center as it outlined a new, smart modular data center solution for small and edge computing scenarios, including three data center products — FusionModule2000, FusionModule800, and FusionModule500 — designed for different industrial needs.

Huawei outlined a new, smart modular data center solution for small and edge computing scenarios, including three data center products – FusionModule2000, FusionModule800, and FusionModule500.

Key to the Smart Modular Data Solution, SmartLi UPS — Huawei’s smart lithium battery UPS — helps enterprises of all sizes turn any room into a data center. Doing away with the need for a traditional raised floor design, far lower requirements are placed on ceiling heights. Instead, air conditioner pipes and strong- and weak-current cables are routed from top-down, meaning that equipment can be accommodated even when ceiling heights are as low as 2.6 m, far below the 3 m minimum height required for a traditional data center. Huawei partner NetCraft Information Technology (Macau) has already adopted this solution, which NetCraft sales director Benjamin Wong praised at the event.

"With the Huawei Modular Data Center Solution, all required components are modular," Wong said. "An easy way for customers to understand this solution is to consider that each component is like a building block: You can build up your castle by adding different blocks, so you can add more blocks in the future when needed."

One Rack Supports One Megawatt of Power

In next five years, Information Technology (IT) devices will continue to evolve, with ever-higher computing power and density needed. Inevitably, Central Processing Unit (CPU) and server power requirements will also increase. To balance efficiency and costs, data centers will therefore develop toward higher density models, precisely the direction that Huawei’s ongoing Research and Development (R&D) investment has taken: namely, the implementation of a high-density, efficient, intelligent power supply and distribution system.

A direct result of that period of exploration, Huawei launched an ultra-high-density modular UPS product series — UPS5000-H — that uses a new 100 kVA/3 U ultra-high-density hot-swappable power modules. It is the industry’s first UPS that enables a single standard rack to support one megawatt of power. With high-density, high-efficiency, and intelligence, this series effectively lowers the physical footprint and reduces the number of installation labor hours needed in comparison to other UPS solutions. And, once up and running, system efficiency reaches 97%; in addition, the system is low-load and efficient in hibernation mode.

Making Site Power Simple

A defining trend of digital transformation is the widespread emergence of digital sites — telecom sites, edge computing sites, video sites, and more — reflecting increasing Information Communications Technology (ICT) convergence. Indeed, both Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) power supplies are required to power diverse onsite sensing Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Communication Technology (CT) devices, and Information Technology (IT) devices. Unlike the traditional use of multiple AC and DC power systems, forming a kind of patchwork model, Huawei’s iMagicPower adopts a multi-function, integrated design, supporting solar, Diesel Generator (DG), mains, and battery as power inputs. It also provides different power output modes, including 12/24/36/48 V DC output and 24/220/380 V AC output. With all functional parts available in a modular design, precise configuration is possible and future expansion is simplified, allowing enterprises to build according to their needs and means.

For site level energy storage and backup, Huawei launched CloudLi, a fifth generation energy storage system. Compared with common lithium batteries, Huawei CloudLi offers improved performance in terms of power density and reliability, alongside a range of intelligent features to help customers reduce both Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operating Expenditure (OPEX). Particularly important with staffing restrictions in place during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, CloudLi supports remote, intelligent Operations and Maintenance (O&M), doing away with manual tasks such as onsite inspection and onsite maintenance.

Unternehmensvorstellung Wöhrle, one of Huawei’s power system partners based in Germany, has experience of using both iMagicPower and CloudLi. The company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) has noted that the high reliability of the solutions ensures that they function safely in a wide temperature range even under harsh conditions, with intelligent features enabling optimal monitoring of the lithium batteries.

New TVU Rack Router Transmits Live 8K UHD Video over Network Powered by China Unicom 5G mmWave Technology

TVU Networks Showcases Results of Latest Collaboration with China Unicom at Mobile World Congress Shanghai

SHANGHAI, March 11, 2021TVU Networks, a market and technology leader in cloud and IP-based live video solutions, and China Unicom, the world’s fourth largest mobile service provider, are collaborating to expand the UHD media applications possible with 5G networks. TVU Networks is advancing solutions that support China Unicom‘s 5G millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology for communications services.

As part of the partnership, TVU Networks is focused on the development of technology for collection, transmission, distribution, and management of 4K and 8K ultra-high-definition video using 5G networks. Advantages to the 5G mmWave band include increased bandwidth, reduced latency and flexible configuration, which enable the capacity and transmission of future mobile application scenarios such as 4K, 8K and immersive AR/VR. The radio frequency utilized for 5G mmWave is far less congested than the frequency spectrum used by most TV and radio signals, which increases the bandwidth available.

China Unicom’s 5G mmWave technology will be deployed over 5G networks during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where the Chinese telecommunications operator will be the exclusive mobile service provider.

TVU Networks was one of a handful of invited companies that participated in a demonstration inside the China Unicom booth during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition in Shanghai. The demonstration showcased the live transmission capabilities of 5G mmWave technology. With the theme "5G Millimeter Wave Makes Snow Sports More Wonderful," TVU created a 5G-based private network in the cloud at the China Unicom booth with two, portable TVU 5G Rack Routers. TVU was able to transmit live, high bitrate 8K UHD video over 5G within the booth.

The real-time 8K video followed athletes in training for the games and was an example of the type of live 8K and AR/VR mobile coverage viewers may see during the 2022 Winter Olympics.

"We’ve selected the top technology providers in our mission to harness the power of the 5G millimeter wave band for mobile applications that were inconceivable a few years ago," said Jiawei Kang, VP of Cultural & Travel & Media Sales Centre, China Unicom. "With the substantial increase in data transmission capabilities 5G millimeter wave provides, applications such as 4K, 8K and VR will see explosive growth. Our partnership with TVU has been extremely productive, and we anticipate more groundbreaking developments to come. As the official mobile provider partner for the 2022 Winter Olympics, we believe this is exactly the innovation required for such a high-profile, prestigious event."

The new 5G TVU Rack Router is a portable Internet access point that includes six embedded 5G modems and is ideal for remote live video production set up, file transfers and emergency communication applications. It provides the highest bandwidth reliability under extreme network environments. An optional IP67 external MIMI antenna is available to maximize signal strength. Others in the TVU Router family include the 5G TVU One Router, 4G/LTE Nano Router, and the TVU Router app.

"We’re honored to have been selected, along with industry leaders like Qualcomm, to be part of China Unicom’s groundbreaking display at MWC Shanghai," said Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks. "China Unicom’s 5G mmWave is groundbreaking technology for live video transmission. The network breakthroughs they’re spearheading marry perfectly with our video-over-IP developments. We’re going to see some very exciting mobile applications come to fruition this year. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with China Unicom on future initiatives and global events which showcase the power of this partnership."

Prior to MWC, TVU Networks’ solutions helped China Unicom to provide media live UHD video during the China International Import Expo and the 2020 ChinaJoy Expo. TVU also won multiple awards in China’s "Bloom Cup" 5G Application Competition for extraordinary performance of a 5G UHD video live solution.
