Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition reaches for the stars

Samsung is back with a mesmerizing blend of tradition and technology in their latest release: the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition. Drawing inspiration from ancient astrolabes, this timepiece is more than just a smartwatch; it’s a work of art.

Inspired by ancient astronomy

The Galaxy Watch6 Classic Astro Edition’s standout feature is its astrolabe-inspired bezel. But what exactly is an astrolabe? Think of it as an ancient astronomical calculator used for navigation. Samsung’s innovation lies in reimagining this ancient tool as a functional, rotating bezel on a modern smartwatch.

This bezel not only adds a touch of sophistication but also serves as an intuitive navigation tool. It retains it standard function of effortlessly scroll through apps and menus with a satisfying click. The highlight are the depictions of constellations, stars, and other lunar bodies, along the top of the bezel.

Honoring the legacy of astronomy in the MENA region

Samsung has chosen to launch their wearable masterpiece exclusively in the MENA region, adding an element of exclusivity to the Galaxy Watch6 Classic Astro Edition. The countries in the region include UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Türkiye and Morocco.

Samsung stated that the astrolabe was chosen as it “symbolises the (MENA) region’s legacy of scientific and innovative contributions, particularly in time, astronomy and mathematics”. It’s a testament to Samsung’s commitment to tailoring their products to specific markets.

Exclusive astronomy-inspired features

Beyond its stunning design, this smartwatch packs a punch when it comes to technology. It is only available in the 47mm variant and features all the essential functions you’d expect from a premium smartwatch, including heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and fitness tracking.

On top of that, you get exclusive, astrolabe-inspired complications. These include a compass complication on the dial and solar/lunar phase tracker that lets users track the movement of the sun and moon.

Bridging the past and future on your wrist

The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Classic Astro Edition is a celebration of craftsmanship and innovation. It will be available starting 2nd August 2023, with no official pricing available as of yet. There will be an exclusive purchase offer that includes an additional fabric strap, Astro Edition collectibles, and access to Samsung’s VIP exclusive promotion store.

ASUS Goes Ape with new BAPE^® Edition Vivobook S 15 OLED

ZTE announces the Voyage 40 Pro+ to succeed Axon 40 SE

ZTE announces the new Voyage 40 Pro+ in China, a device that improves upon the Axon 40 SE released in October.

ZTE has retained the key design elements and hardware of the mid-range Axon 40 SE and made some select improvements. Both phones share a similar appearance with the twin circular camera housing on the back and dimensions. They share the same 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution and 770 nit peak brightness. But that’s where the similarities end.

Chipset, battery and cameras upgrades from the Axon 40 SE

The Voyage 40 Pro+ has hardware improvements all around, starting with the mobile platform it runs on. Powering the device is a Mediatek Dimensity 810 that offers improved core speeds and 5G connectivity. This a step up from the Unisoc T618 chipset seen in its predecessor. The memory configurations have been doubled from the Axon 40 SE, with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB storage. It still retains a microSD slot and has the option for further virtual RAM up to 6 GB. The battery also has a capacity increase to 4510mAh with significantly faster 66W charging, up from 4500mAh and 22.5W charging. The main shooter in the three camera setup has also improved, with 64MP sensor up from 50MP. The 5MP macro cam and 2MP depth sensor from its predecessor still remains. The front camera too is upgraded to a 16MP shooter from 8MP.

The Voyage 40 Pro+ is now retailing in China, exclusively for the moment, retailing at an estimated RM1393 (2200 yuan). It is available in two colors; Sky Blue and Twilight Gray. Also available is the Starry Night edition, inspired by the van Gogh painting, retailing for the same price. Axon 40 Ultra Space Edition Takes ZTE To The Stars

ZTE has unveiled in China, a souped-up version of their Axon 40 Ultra flagship with the new Space Edition.

Extra-large memory configurations and faster charging speeds

The major offering of this new edition is perhaps the largest configuration of memory and storage in the market. It is available in 12 GB RAM with 512GB storage or 18GB RAM with 1TB storage. This not the first time ZTE has done this, with its previous Axon Ultra 30 flagships offering the same in its Aerospace edition last year.

The Space edition shares mostly the same hardware with the Ultra 40 standard edition. It comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform, a 6.8-inch 120hz AMOLED display with 2480 x 1116 pixels resolution and 5000mAh battery. It also has the same dedicated security chip by ZTE that is claimed to have passed encryption testing and has three privacy and security certifications. However, no concrete details on specifications and functionality on this chip has been announced just yet. The camera setup is a triple 64MP sensor assembly with wide angle, ultra-wide angle and periscope capabilities respectively.

The hardware upgrades, apart from larger memory, is faster charging speeds of 80W from the base 65W. The design of the phone receives some changes for the better too. The back panel of the conventional Ultra 40 is replaced with ceramic material that is textured to give a more premium feel. The camera bump is now flush against the back panel, as opposed to the island design of the base unit.

The Axon 40 Ultra Space Edition is currently only available in China and comes with a bespoke box and protective case. Price estimates are RM3744 (5999 yuan) for the 12GB/512GB variant and RM4886 (7700 yuan) for the 18GB/1TB variant. August was an interesting month for ASUS. They launched a brand-new gaming laptop in collaboration with a big name in the new age world of EDM Music. That name is Alan Walker, if you have not guessed it yet.

At its global launch, we mentioned Malaysia will get to the notebook somewhere in September. We did not know specifically when though. We are excited about the laptop though, because we were mainly interested in the included box that packages the ROG Zephyrus G14 Alan Walker SE. At the same time, it is one of the most striking looking collaboration pieces from ASU ROG. In other words, it looks stunning, and we dig its looks.

At today’s launch gambit of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 AW SE, we can tell you that you can get your hands on one today onward if you have MYR 7,999 to spare. The ROG Zephyrus G14 AW SE, admittedly, is more expensive than the regular ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. To be specific, you are paying about MYR 300 over the most expensive ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 device available.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 AW SE packs a powerful AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS processor with Zen 3 architecture which is respectable enough. It also comes with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU, which is also a respectable processor for gaming notebooks. The combination of which powers Windows 10 on a 14-inch QHD IPS display that refreshes at 120Hz.

In comparison, the top-of-the-line ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 features AMD’s Ryzen 9 5900HS Zen 3 processor. It also comes with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3060 GPU platform which packs a lot of punch. This package comes at the price of MYR 7,499.

Before you write off the new ROG Zephyrus G14 AW SE though, you should know that your money buys more than just a gaming notebook PC. Alongside your G14 AW SE are a few extra goodies that you will not find anywhere else in the PC market. You get an Alan Walker x ROG designed cap and socks. On top of that, you are getting a custom ROG laptop sleeve that has Alan Walker design all over it.

Those may not sound like a lot. You are also buying a sort of an audio sampling box to go along with your Alan Walker edition of the ROG Zephyrus G14. The sampler box allows you to be your own DJ and be more creative with music samples that is included with the built-in software. You can even load the samples into the software if you want and create your own tracks. On top of that also, you get a slew of custom Alan Walker inspired graphics to load up on the AniMe Matrix panel on the back of the display.
