OPPO Unleashes the Reno 11 Series Globally, Price Starts at RM1,899

OPPO‘s Reno Series just got a big upgrade. The new Reno 11 series is turning things up to 11 when it comes to portrait photography with an all-new approach and specifications that put photography first. With two new entries – the Reno 11 and the Reno 11 Pro, the new portrait photography-focused smartphone is bound to raise more than a few eyebrows. Keep in mind, that these devices are essentially brand new devices compared to the Reno 11 series that was released in China.

Reno 11 Series 2

The global versions of the OPPO Reno 11 series come with MediaTek processors. The vanilla Reno 11 comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 while the Reno 11 Pro comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8200. Both come with 16GB of RAM. The Pro comes with 512GB of internal storage while the vanilla version comes with 256GB. The display on both versions is a 6.7-inch OLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space and supports 10-bit colour depth. It also has a peak brightness of 950 nits.

When it comes to their cameras, the Reno 11 and Reno 11 Pro differ in their main camera sensors. The Reno 11 comes with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 sensor while the Pro comes with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX 890. These sensors are complemented by a 32-megapixel telephoto Sony IMX709 sensor with 2x optical zoom and an 8-megapixel ultrawide Sony IMX355 sensor. Up front, there’s another 32-megapixel Sony IMX709 for selfies.

Reno 11 Series 3

The phones support SuperVOOC charge. The Reno 11 Pro’s smaller 4,600mAh battery supports SuperVOOC Flash charging at 80W while the regular Reno 11 comes with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W SuperVOOC flash charging.

OPPO is taking a nature-inspired approach to the design with the Reno 11 series. The series itself comes in three colours and designs – Pearl White, Rock Grey and Wave Green. Pearl White is exclusively available for the Reno 11 Pro while the Wave Green is only available for the regular 11. All the colours take cues from elements in nature, the Pearl White takes it design cues from the mother of pearl with a unique three-layered assembly process that bring the dynamism of the mother of pearl to life. The Wave Green from the lapping ocean waves and Rock Grey from the rocks that dot the beaches.

The Honor 100 Series is Now Official with Two Variants: the Honor 100 & the Honor 100 Pro

In what can only be described as an eventful weekend, Honor has taken the covers off the China-exclusive versions of its latest midrange hero: the Honor 100 and the Honor 100 Pro.

The Honor 100 Pushes Mid-range Boundaries

The Honor 100 debuts as the first smartphone to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The new system on a chip (SoC) brings even more power to the smartphone industry than its predecessor and maybe even the last generation flagship smartphones. It has a svelte 7.8 mm profile and a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a fingerprint scanner seamlessly embedded beneath.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 powering this sleek marvel is a 4nm process-driven Qualcomm chipset, with a dynamic CPU configuration. The combination of a Cortex-A715 core that clocks at an impressive 3.15 GHz, complemented by three additional cores at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A510 units operating at 1.8 GHz promises blazing performance with good power efficiency – at least on paper.

The Honor 100 comes with a dual camera setup with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 sensor complemented with a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor. Up front is a 50-megapixel sensor with an f/2.1 aperture. The Honor 100 series also features the Honor’s custom-made RF chip, the C1. This chip is supposed to be able to optimize cellular connection for better connectivity even in challenging scenarios.

The smartphone comes with a 5,000 mAh battery with support for fast charging leveraging Honor’s 100W Supercharge technology. The 100 series comes with MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13.

The Honor 100 Pro Brings Flagship Performance

Unveiled alongside its sibling, the Honor 100 Pro comes with a larger 6.78″ OLED display and the formidable Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The display has a 2,600 nit peak brightness and a Delta E of about 0.27.

The camera ensemble retains the 50-megapixel main and 12-megapixel ultrawide lenses but introduces a third sensor – a 32-megapixel sensor with 2.5x optical zoom and up to 50x digital zoom. Up front is a dual-camera setup with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX816 sensor with a TOF sensor.

Beyond raw power, the Honor 100 Pro champions convenience with 66W wireless charging in addition to Honor’s 100W Supercharge. A meticulously designed vapour chamber cooling solution ensures efficient heat dissipation, preventing overheating during intensive usage.

Pricing & Availability

The Honor 100 series will be available in Monet Purple, Butterfly Blue, Moon White, and Midnight Black.

Pricing for the Honor 100 starts at CNY 2,499 (RM1,640.45/USD$349.92/EUR€319.67) for the version with 12GB of RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage. The version with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard memory is priced at CNY2,799 (RM1,834.51/USD$391.95/EUR€357.99) while the 16GB + 512GB version is CNY2,999 (RM1,965.89/USD$420.02/EUR€383.59).

OPPO Unfolds a New Level of Productivity and Design with the Find N3

OPPO isn’t content with just photography with their latest move into the foldable segment. The new lineup that makes up the Find N3 series proves that the company is looking beyond the perfect selfie or photo. With the flagship Find N3, OPPO is taking its ambitions to be one of the best in all categories seriously.

  • OPPO Find N3 12
  • OPPO Find N3 15 1
  • OPPO Find N3 02
  • OPPO Find N3 05
  • OPPO Find N3 06
  • OPPO Find N3 09 1

The OPPO Find N3 is a book-folding foldable smartphone. The outer display of this device is a 6.3-inch LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2,800 nits peak brightness. Unfolded the main screen stands out with a 7.8-inch LTPO display. Both share a 120Hz refresh rate and a pixel density of over 425 pixels per inch.

Display aside, the Find N3 comes with three powerful speakers for authentic stereo sound. The smartphone is also built for an immersive experience with support for Dolby Atmos and Spatial Sound. This is further enhanced by the performance-centred insides of the Find N3. The foldable comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 512GB of UFS4.0 storage and 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. All of this is powered by a 4,800 mAh battery which supports 67W SUPERVOOC Charging which gives you 80% charge in 30 minutes.

OPPO Find N3 30

Durability is front and centre with the third-generation Flexion Hinge. The hinge is made of a Zirconium-based liquid metal which makes it 5x stronger than stainless steel. This durability is also been independently verified by TUV-Rheinland and is certified to last for 1,000,000 folds. The new design allows the Find N3 to be one of the slimmest foldable smartphones on the market coming in at only 11.7mm when closed and 5.8mm when opened. It’s also got to be one of the lightest with a weight of only 298g.

Finding that Perfect Photo with Hasselblad Camera Technology

The Find N3 comes with a triple camera setup co-developed by Hasselblad. It’s also one of the most powerful setups on the market with a 48-megapixel Sony LYTIA-T808 sensor as the main sensor. The new sensor can derive more detailed information from a single exposure thanks to the stacked CMOS sensors which process light better resulting in better dynamic range, enhanced details and reduced noise even for low-light pictures. The same rings true for video.

OPPO Find N3 33

The LYTIA-T808 is complemented by a 48-megapixel Sony IMX581 sensor. This comes with an ultrawide field of view and has autofocus. It’s also 100% larger than other flagship sensors. Completing the trio is a 64-megapixel periscope sensor which comes with an f/2.6 aperture. The combination of the three sensors will allow users to get the best performance from the camera in both low light and day light conditions. It’s also bringing along OPPO’s now signature portrait photography.

Colouring You Productive with ColorOS 13.2 Optimised for the Find N3’s Folds

The Find N3 isn’t running vanilla ColorOS 13.2, instead, OPPO has introduced a bevvy of features designed to help you stay productive even on the go. OPPO itself is touting it as “PC-Level productivity in your pocket”.

  • OPPO Find N3 51
  • OPPO Find N3 52
  • OPPO Find N3 53
  • OPPO Find N3 48
  • OPPO Find N3 49
  • OPPO Find N3 50

Some of the optimisations of ColorOS 13.2 include the Global TaskBar, OPPO’s take on the taskbar from Android 13. This taskbar will not only give you your recent apps and quick start bar, it comes with a button for the app drawer in a manner similar to Windows’s Start button.

Find N3 Boundless View 15 inch

That’s not all though, OPPO is making it even easier to multitask with simple gestures to enable split-screen and other productivity modes. One of the unique features of the Find N3 is OPPO’s “Boundless View” which allows you to use up three apps simultaneously side-by-side with one of them just off-screen. You’ll be able to interact with the apps by simply swiping to see the app that is off-screen. But of course, being OPPO, this wasn’t enough. The company is also bringing an extension of this mode called “15-inch Boundless View” which displays all three apps in the 7.8-inch tablet view. OPPO touts this feature as a 15-inch display in your hands.

Pricing & Availability

The OPPO Find N3 will be available in Champagne Gold which comes with a glass back and Classic Black which comes with a Vegan leather finish.

The Find N3 will be priced at MYR7,999 in Malaysia. Internationally, it will be priced at S$2399 which is about USD$1,747.56 or EUR€1,652.48.

In Malaysia, pre-orders of the OPPO Find N3 will entitle you to a free OPPO Pad Air (4GB + 64GB) worth 999, a free screen protection warranty worth MYR799 and an extended warranty purchase with purchase (PWP) discount worth MYR300 on its original price of MYR599 and a MYR100 discount on the PU standing case worth MYR199. The Megapixel Race is Back on with Sony Looking to Introduce 100MP Smartphone Camera Sensor

Before Samsung came with their 108-Megapixel behemoth of a camera sensor that is their ISOCELL camera sensor you find on the Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 series, Sony was the go-to people for smartphone camera sensors. Their IMX sensors proved to be some of the versatile and best camera sensors for all kinds of mobile photography needs. Of course, not everyone feels like the sensors from Sony is adequate for them and their purpose. HUAWEI, for example came up with their own Red Yellow Yellow Blue (RYYB) sensor for more natural colours on their photos.

Samsung snagged the king of smartphone photography sensor title when they introduced the new sensor that went above 100MP for their flagship smartphone. Earlier this year, Samsung made another breakthrough in their mobile photography technology. They have introduced their ISOCELL HP1 200MP sensor, a sensor that hits 200-Megapixel. If estimations are correct, the sensor could make its way to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra model next year.

Sony is not backing down though. They are reported to be working on their own version of a smartphone camera sensor that is supposed to shoot at 100-Megapixel, rivalling the current Samsung ISOCELL sensors found in the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy S22 Ultra. Currently, reports points to the sensor as a part of the IMX8 series of sensors that are designed for mid-range and high-end smartphones. The sensor could also be larger than the ½-inch 64-Megapixel sensor that Sony already makes, currently found in the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ smartphones.

The idea of cramming more pixels into your smartphone camera is something that manufacturers have toyed with several years ago. Sony was the manufacturer of choice too when it comes to high-resolution sensors. For several years, the highest pixel count for a smartphone camera was 64-Megapixel until Samsung introduces their Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra last year with a behemoth of a 108-Megapixel sensor lodged in its body. We thought the Megapixel race was over, looks like we were wrong.

The company seems to be taking a page out of Google’s book and is introducing a concept smartphone built from the ground up to highlight their processors. Designed by ASUS, the Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders brings the full potential of the Snapdragon 888 Mobile Platform. The smartphone comes with compatibility for the latest connectivity standards: WiFi 6E, 5G support for both mmWave and sub 6 bandwidths and Bluetooth 5.2. Together with the connectivity, Qualcomm is removing any bottlenecks in performance by equipping the smartphone with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard UFS 3.1 memory. The processor and top of the line storage promises some of the best read and write speeds.

Cameras Augmented by Qualcomm’s Triple ISP Technology & AI

The Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders comes with Qualcomm’s vision for the best camera experience on its platform. It comes with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor with quad bayer technology; an aperture of f/1.8 and a effective focal length of 26.6mm with a 78.3° field of view; and four axis optical image stabilization. The triple sensor setup comes complemented with a secondary 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor. This sensor has a f/2.2 aperture and an effective focal length of 14.3mm with support for macro shots. An 8-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and upto 12x hybrid zoom completes the triplet of cameras. On the front is a 24-megapixel sensor.

Qualcomm is touting the camera setup as a professional grade camera featuring AI augmentations that allow the camera to take good low light shots and intelligently focus and identify the best shot. Additionally, AI auto zoom allows your subject to be the focus of the shot while bringing you closer to the action. You can even shoot video in 4k and 8K resolutions. This is made possible by the Qualcomm Spectra 580 ISP which has gigapixel processing speeds.

Audiophile Experience Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound Technology

The new Qualcomm smartphone is also one of the first to feature Snapdragon Sound technology. The new optimizations allow users to wirelessly stream high quality, 24-bit audio with bitrates of up to 96KHz. Snapdragon Sound also enhances audio from end to end for a more robust sound with clear highs and boomy bass. It also enables super wideband voice for clear, true to life audio when making calls.

Of course, since Snapdragon Sound is focused on wireless audio, Qualcomm is including a set of wireless earphones by Master & Dynamic in the box with the Smartphone. The MW08SI comes with active noise cancelling and is powered by Qualcomm’s QCC5141 low power Bluetooth Audio SoC. It is able to do ultra low latency bluetooth streaming with true high resolution audio quality. It even has augmentations for better connectivity in environments with dense RF interference.

Desktop Gaming Experience on the Go

The Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders comes with the Adreno 660 GPU which is touted to bring 35% faster graphics rendering. Variable Rate Shading brings an additional 30% boost in performance as well. This experience is augmented by the 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED display. It comes with a Full HD+ resolution of 2448×1080 pixels with a response rate of 1ms and 144Hz refresh rate. The display comes with HDR10+ certification and has a ΔE of less than 1. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection and support for always on display. Qualcomm is also touting up to 20% increased responsiveness thanks to Qualcomm Game Quick Touch.

OPPO Find X2 Series Global Launch – Replacing An Icon

OPPO’s Find X was something else from OPPO. It was something quite extraordinary to come out from OPPO’s stables. It was OPPO’s game changer also their first device to hit the premium market segment. It sold for MYR 3,699 when it was launched; more expensive than any OPPO devices that came before it.

It was not like any other OPPO devices that came before as well. Instead of a familiar Apple-esque design they employed with their best-selling models, the OPPO Find X was a device they could proudly call their own. It was a device they could really identify as an OPPO device. It was also OPPO’s first European ready device.

In all fairness it was also the first smartphone in the world that was truly bezel-less. While whatever premium devices came with ‘bezel-less’ devices, you still get the notch to house the camera. OPPO’s implementation made sure that your bezel-less experience is truly bezel-less. How? Quite ingenious, a motorised pop-up mechanism that slides a whole part of the device to reveal a front facing camera.

It did not sell for MYR 3,699 merely for that feature though. It was a world beater with a high-end System on a Chip (SoC). It had other flagship class specs as well, large RAM and storage. It had a larger than life battery too at the time. Even its camera array is flagship class. Was it worth MYR 3,699? It surely looked like it.

Source: OPPO

Now, there is the brand new OPPO Find X2; the evolution of the iconic flagship from 2018. Instead of just a single device though, the Find X2 is a series of devices. They are all 5G ready too. The 5G capabilities are thanks to the most powerful processor available to them in the world today. They are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

The OPPO Find X2

There is not that much difference between the two devices that was launched by OPPO today. Even the price (in Euro anyway). The difference in price is only about EU€ 200 (*MYR 946); which is not that much.

Source: OPPO

There are still some differences to justify the higher price point of the OPPO Find X2 Pro though. Starting with the storage, the OPPO Find X2 tops out at 256GB. Mind you, that is not expandable; kind of a bummer, but 256GB is plenty anyway.

One of the cameras, the ultra-wide lens; you only get 12-Megapixel out of it. While that is not bad, it will not be the most powerful sensor you can find on the OPPO Find X2. Then there is the battery which tops out at 4,200mAh for the OPPO Find X2. It still charges as fast as the Find X2 Pro though.

This is where the differences end though.

OPPO Find X2 Pro

We start with the storage at 512GB of storage, double of the OPPO Find X2. The OPPO Find X2 Pro also packs a very slightly bigger battery at 4,260mAh. This is no where near as big as we think it would be. Still, it charges very quickly at 65W (SuperVOOC). It fully charges the device from an empty battery to full within 38 minutes.

Source: OPPO

The biggest difference between the device is within the camera array. The OPPO Find X2 Pro packs a 48-Megapixel ultra-wide sensor instead of 12-megapixel. It is supported by the same 13-Megapixel telephoto lens and 48-Megapixel main shooter as the OPPO Find X2. The difference? 48-Megapixels obviously captures more details in its ultra-wide shots and its macro shots from at least 3cm away from subject. This camera array is the one that puts OPPO at the top steps of DX0Mark.

The Find X2 Series Powerhouse

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 paired to 12GB of RAM is not just keeping the OPPO Find X2’s 5G kicking though. It is also a powerhouse to keep the Android 10 based ColorOS 7.1 running as smoothly as possible. You can see that smooth and snappy performance from the large 6.7-inch display that pushed QHD+ resolution at 120Hz. If you are into gaming, you will benefit from the 240Hz sampling rate; or mor commonly known as touch response these days.

It does not stop there for its display though. The display is in a class of its own with a 100% DCI-P3 certification. This is also the first OPPO device to pack a 10-bit display. That also means that you get one billion colours on the display. The O1 Ultra Vision Vision Engine on the Ultra Vision  display is also the world’s first engine in the world of its kind on a mobile device. The engine is a hardware based upscale mechanism that scales 30fps videos to up to 120fps videos with minimal motion blurring and tearing. With HDR10+, the OPPO Find X2 series’ display is easily the most advanced and most accurate out there in the market. Immersive too with Dolby ATMOS certified dual stereo speakers.

Source: OPPO

While we have spoken about the camera’s hardware capabilities, there is more to the camera than meets the eye. The 10x hybrid zoom is nothing new technically. What is new though is OPPO’s All Pixel Omni-Directional PDAF that is supposed to increase the Auto-Focus speeds with even better accuracy than regular PDAF systems. The camera also shoots at 12-bit, meaning you get even more details in your shots. Out the front is a 32-Megapixel shooter housed in a small punch-hole on the display.

You get to shoot even better in low-light conditions too with their new Ultra-night mode 3.0 across all lenses. Your main camera though gets Ultra Dark Mode treatment to help the camera see even better in near blackness.

While regular Optical Image Stabiliser functions would be enough for photos, videos require a little bit more than that. That is why OPPO has the Ultra Steady Mode 2.0 that combines OIS and EIS on the OPPO Find X2 series. Plus, the Live HDR mode helps you visual your videos without having to take a picture or video first. It samples HDR on top of your display once you fire up the camera. For videos also the OPPO Find X2 devices are equipped with three mics for even better and more advanced noise cancelling functions. Once you shoot, you can edit all of the footage in SoLoop app included within the device.

The OPPO Find X2 Pro will be available in Black (ceramic material) and Vegan Leather for EU€ 1199 (*MYR 5,671). The OPPO Find X2 will be available Black (ceramic) and Ocean (glass) for EU€ 999 (*MYR4,725). As expected there is a Lamborghini edition for the OPPo Find X2 series too.
