Sony ZV-E10 II & E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II Launched in Malaysia

Sony has announced the second generation of its popular content creation camera, the ZV-E10 II. Building upon the success of its predecessor, the ZV-E10 II retains the core features that made it a favourite amongst creators – compact design, user-friendly interface, and impressive video capabilities – while introducing several enhancements designed to further elevate the content creation experience.

Sony Z EV10 II Launch (2)

The ZV-E10 II boasts an upgraded 26-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and the latest BIONZ XR image processing engine, promising improved image quality and performance compared to its predecessor. This translates to better low-light performance, sharper images, and smoother video recording.

One of the most exciting additions is the Cinematic Vlog Setting. With a single touch, this feature helps creators capture professional-looking cinematic footage by automatically adjusting aspects like aspect ratio, frame rate, and autofocus transition speed. Additionally, creators can further enhance their content with a selection of Creative Looks and Moods, offering extensive colour and tonal control for a personalized touch.

Focus on User Experience and Streamlined Workflow

The ZV-E10 II prioritizes user experience with a focus on ease of use and efficient workflows. The camera features a new vertical User Interface (UI) that automatically rotates when shooting in portrait mode, ideal for content creators who primarily produce content for social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Additionally, the improved high-capacity Z battery (NP-FZ100) extends recording times, allowing creators to capture more content without worrying about running out of power.

In terms of content creation tools, the ZV-E10 II retains popular features like the vari-angle LCD screen for easy self-shooting, Product Showcase Setting for highlighting products in videos, and Background Defocus Function for creating a professional bokeh effect. The improved autofocus system ensures sharp focus on subjects, even when recording fast-paced action.

The ZV-E10 II is equipped with a USB 3.2 Type-C port for fast, wired data transfer to a compatible smartphone or PC, allowing creators to seamlessly transfer and edit their content. The camera also supports high-quality live streaming through a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection.

Keeping accessibility in mind, Sony has included a Screen Reader function that reads menus and video playback screens aloud, as well as a menu Magnify Display function to assist users with visual impairments.

The ZV-E10 II reflects Sony’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The camera body incorporates recycled materials, including SORPLAS, to minimize environmental impact without compromising functionality. The packaging also utilizes Sony’s unique recycled paper material, further reducing the environmental footprint.

The E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II Lens

Alongside the ZV-E10 II, Sony has also announced the E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II, a compact power zoom lens ideal for the ZV-E10 II. This versatile lens offers a 24-75mm focal length (35mm full-frame equivalent), making it suitable for various shooting situations, from wide landscapes to close-up details. The E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II features built-in optical stabilization that works in conjunction with the in-body stabilization system of the ZV-E10 II to minimize camera shake and ensure smooth footage.

Sony Unveils New Xperia 1 VI Complete with Partnership with Activision

Sony’s Xperia series of smartphones – particularly the Xperia 1 – has been geared towards creative professionals as a tool and complement to their kits. However, this year is a little bit different with the Xperia 1 VI as Sony isn’t just introducing new creative features including AI, it’s also announcing an exclusive partnership with Activision.

Uniting Technology & Creativity with a More Capable Camera for Better Expressions

Keeping true to Sony’s key tenant of staying true to creativity, the new Xperia 1 VI comes with a brand new camera system. This time, the new system brings Sony’s Exmor T for Mobile image sensor that promises excellent low-light performance. However, that’s not all when it comes to upgrades. The Xperia 1 VI also comes with a brand new triple sensor setup for its main camera. The setup still comes with ZEISS T* coating but features a brand-new variable zoom covering 85-170mm focal length equivalents. The new setup also comes with a wide sensor which is able to shoot in 24mm and 48mm focal length equivalents and an ultrawide sensor that shoots at 16mm focal length equivalent. According to Sony, this new setup is the first to cover such a wide range of focal lengths from Xperia. The camera setup enables up to 7.1x optical zoom and also supports telephoto macro photos and videos.

The Xperia 1 VI is also bringing AI features for creators. Continuing the company’s approach of unifying its flagship Alpha camera know-how and technology in its Xperia lineup, the Xperia 1 VI is adopting some AI features that we’ve seen in the Alpha family. As such, it comes as no surprise that the Mark VI will feature the return of AI-enabled eye-tracking autofocus. However, Sony is raising the bar by using AI to dynamically recognise and track the human skeleton and posture for more accurate autofocus. This will also ensure that your subject doesn’t go out of focus even in busy environments.

Breaking Its Own Mould with BRAVIA Technology & A Gaming Partnership with Activision

This year, it’s not just Alpha technology being folded into the Xperia 1 VI, Sony’s BRAVIA technology is also tagging along. Boasting the brightest display ever on an Xperia device, the new Xperia 1’s OLED display comes in a new 19.5:1 aspect ratio. Yes, Sony is doing away with the cinematic 20:1 aspect ratio we’ve seen previously. The display is also getting a boost in brightness with “Sunlight Vision”, a new feature that Sony is introducing to ensure that the display remains legible even under direct sunlight. Other than that, the display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space and has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz response rate.

The inclusion of BRAVIA technology is also bringing with it a new gaming partnership with Activision-Blizzard for Call of Duty Warzone Mobile. The new partnership leverages the high performance of the processor and the new gaming-centric features that are coming with the Xperia 1 VI. In addition to richer sound and graphics thanks to BRAVIA technology, the smartphone is also coming with a brand new feature called FPS booster that optimizes the performance of the smartphone for higher frame rates and better gaming fluidity. In addition, the Xperia 1 VI also comes with optimizations for touch that can recognise up to 24 touch patterns and optimize responsiveness for them. Activision’s Call of Duty Warzone Mobile will launch in March 2024.

Top of the line Specs for Creativity

The Xperia 1 VI comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 under the hood. The top-of-the-line SoC from Qualcomm right now. This is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory with support for up to 1.5TB additional space through the microSD card slot. The smartphone comes with support for Bluetooth 5.4 and USB 3.2.

The display on the Xperia 1 VI is a 6.5-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080×2340 pixels. Camera-wise, the triple sensor at the back has a 52-megapixel main sensor and is complemented by a 12-megapixel telephoto and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. Upfront is a 12-megapixel sensor for selfies. All of this is powered by a 5,000mAh battery. The Xperia 1 VI will launch with Android 14 and will come with a guarantee for 4 years of security updates and three major OS updates.

Sony α9 III & SEL300F28GM Make Malaysian Debut

Sony Alpha series of cameras are one of the most prolific when it comes to mirrorless cameras. The lineup has been taking both photography and videography worlds by storm and is responsible for creating a new standard for cameras in its wake. The α9 has been one of the hallmarks of the series supplementing the α7 with a more professional take on the full-frame mirrorless camera. This year, Sony is upping the ante by bringing game-changing features to the α9 III.

A Revolutionary Camera Imbued with Speed and AI

The new Sony α9 III comes equipped with a stacked CMOS image sensor with approximately 24.6-megapixels and built-in memory. The camera is also the first in the world to feature a global shutter on this sensor. This allows the camera to shoot up to 120 frames per second continuously with AF/AE tracking. The sensor is complemented with the latest BIONZ XR image processing engine and a designated AI processing unit. This combination allows the camera to recognise a wide variety of subjects. These features together allow seasoned photographers to take photographs that were not possible before.

Sony Alpha 9 III Launch 7

The camera is able to hit shutter speeds of up to 1/80000 second or 1/16000 second in continuous shooting. Sony’s signature eye recognition complete real-time recognition autofocus and real-time tracking are also featured on the new α9 III. It also has 8.0 stops of optical 5-axis in-body image stabilization. Sony is also introducing a pre-capture feature that allows users to go back up to 1 second and record the moment before shooting. Together with the large buffer memory and increased overall system speed, the α9 III can capture approximately 390 Fine JPEG images in one continuous 30fps burst.

No Crop 4K 120p Video with 6K Oversampling

The α9 III has enough speed that it’s able to shoot 4K footage in 120p. The best part? This is done without the crop that we’ve seen in other cameras. This allows videographers to capture what they see exactly. It’s also possible to shoot 4K 60p high-resolution videos with 6K oversampling.

The S-Cinetone image creation process on the α9 III is created through the development of the VENICE digital cinema camera for video production. This shooting profile allows human skin tones and subjects to stand out. However, if accuracy is what you’re looking for, the camera can shoot videos in S-Log3 in its Log shooting mode. It can also reflect and display the user’s favourite LUT. The α9 III is compatible with Sony’s “Monitor & Control” mobile app.

The G Master Telephoto Lens

Together with the Sony α9 III, Sony Malaysia also announced the availability of the SEL300F28GM telephoto lens. The new G master telephoto lens is only 1470g making it lightweight and balanced for better handling and less shakiness and fatigue when shooting without a tripod. It’s designed to have better weight distribution.

The SEL300F28GM comes with the detailed G master resolution. The lens’s optical design includes three Super ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements and an additional ED glass that helps subdue chromatic aberrations. It helps capture pictures with creamy bokeh and consistent contrast.
