[CES 2025] Alienware Introduces QD-OLED Technology into Its Monitor Lineup

Alienware has introduced its latest offering in gaming display technology: a 27-inch 4K QD-OLED Gaming Monitor (AW2725Q). Building on previous QD-OLED models, this new monitor focuses on increased pixel density, aiming to provide enhanced visual clarity, speed, and immersion for gamers and content creators.

The Alienware 27 4K QD-OLED combines QD-OLED technology with 4K resolution in a 27-inch size. A new manufacturing process allows for a pixel density of 166 PPI (pixels per inch), which is a notable increase for QD-OLED gaming displays. This higher pixel density results in sharper images and finer details. The monitor also offers a 240Hz refresh rate for smooth motion and responsive gameplay, beneficial for fast-paced games. Color accuracy, an infinite contrast ratio, and Dolby Vision HDR certification are also included, aiming to provide vibrant and lifelike visuals. The monitor incorporates Alienware’s new AW30 design language, which blends established design cues with a modern aesthetic.

Visual clarity is important for an engaging gaming experience. The Alienware 27 4K QD-OLED emphasizes this with its 166 PPI density, leading to detailed 4K (3840×2160) visuals. This level of detail can be beneficial for both exploring game worlds and creating gaming content.

Beyond resolution, the monitor also focuses on color accuracy and motion performance. DCI-P3 99% color coverage and Delta E<2 color accuracy aim to deliver realistic color representation. The infinite contrast ratio, along with Dolby Vision HDR and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certifications, contributes to vivid colors and deep blacks. The 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time are designed to provide fluid movement and responsive action in games. Compatibility with NVIDIA G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and VESA AdaptiveSync ensures a tear-free and stutter-free experience with various graphics cards. A Creator Mode allows users to switch between DCI-P3 and sRGB color spaces and adjust gamma settings.

The Alienware 27 4K QD-OLED features Alienware’s new AW30 design language. This includes improved cable management, 360-degree ventilation, and a small-footprint base. The On-Screen Display User Interface and Alienware Command Center 6.6 support provide user control and customization options. HDMI 2.1 FRL support enables 4K 240Hz via HDMI, Variable Refresh Rate, and Auto Low Latency Mode. HDMI 2.1 FRL eARC support allows for high-quality audio through compatible speakers and devices.

To address potential burn-in issues with OLED displays, the monitor includes an AI algorithm and an anti-burn-in graphite sheet. A 3-year warranty, including burn-in coverage, is also provided.

The Alienware 27 4K QD-OLED Gaming Monitor (AW2725Q) will be priced at $899.99 (US) (approximately RM4,230) / $1229.99 (CA) (approximately RM5,770).

UltraSharp 32 and 27 4K Thunderbolt Hub Monitors

The Dell UltraSharp 32 (U3225QE) and 27 (U2725QE) 4K Thunderbolt Hub Monitors are designed with professionals in mind, emphasizing exceptional image quality, eye comfort, and streamlined connectivity. A standout feature is the world’s first enhanced IPS Black technology, which delivers a remarkable 3,000:1 contrast ratio. This translates to significantly deeper blacks and an 89% improvement in ambient contrast ratio compared to conventional IPS panels, especially noticeable in typical office lighting.

Dell UltraSharp 32 4K Thunderbolt Hub Monitor Lifestyle 3

Both monitors boast 4K resolution and VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, providing excellent color accuracy, enhanced color depth, and sharp details even in challenging lighting conditions. Dell has also prioritized eye comfort, achieving the world’s first 5-star eye comfort certification (TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort 3.0) for 4K monitors. This certification is based on several key features: reduced blue light emission (up to 30% less than competitors without impacting color accuracy), an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts brightness and color temperature, a low reflectance panel to minimize glare, and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate to reduce flicker.

As Thunderbolt Hub Monitors, these displays offer extensive connectivity. They include Thunderbolt 4, USB-A and C, and RJ45 ports, and can deliver up to 140W of power via USB-C Extended Power Range (EPR) for compatible laptops. Convenient front-facing pop-out ports offer easy access for connecting peripherals and provide 15W USB-C charging for phones and other accessories. Both monitors are certified to work seamlessly with Windows and macOS, supporting multi-monitor setups for enhanced productivity.

Dell 32 Plus 4K QD-OLED Monitor

The Dell 32 Plus 4K QD-OLED Monitor (S3225QC) represents a significant leap forward in display technology, combining stunning visuals with a revolutionary audio experience. This monitor utilizes QD-OLED technology, which offers incredible clarity, vibrant colors, and near-infinite contrast. This makes it ideal for content creation, gaming, streaming, and general entertainment.

Dell Plus 32 4K QD OLED Monitor Lifestyle 1

A key differentiator of this monitor is its AI-enhanced 3D Spatial Sound. This next-generation audio technology dynamically adjusts the soundscape based on your position, creating a truly immersive auditory experience. AI-driven head-tracking ensures that sound from the built-in speakers remains precisely aligned with your location, providing pinpoint accuracy. The integrated 5x5W speaker array uses advanced beamforming technology to focus audio directly towards each ear and leverages destructive interference to cancel out sound at the opposite ear, resulting in remarkable clarity and a truly unique listening experience.

Visually, the Dell 32 Plus 4K QD-OLED offers spectacular image quality. The 4K resolution combined with QD-OLED technology delivers exceptional color accuracy and depth. Gamers will appreciate the smooth visuals provided by the 120Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium technology, which minimizes motion blur. An ultra-low 0.03ms response time further enhances fluidity for fast-paced gameplay. The monitor also supports Dolby Vision and VESA Display True Black 400, elevating the streaming experience with breathtaking realism.

For connectivity, the Dell 32 Plus 4K QD-OLED offers single-cable USB-C connectivity with up to 90W of power delivery. Convenient pop-out quick access ports further enhance connectivity options.

Sustainably Built

Dell continues to work on their sustainability commitment incorporating sustainably sourced and recycled materials into its products. The new line up of UltraSharp monitors are crafted with up to 100% recycled aluminum, 85% post-consumer recycled plastics, 50% recycled steel, and at least 20% recycled glass. The UltraSharp 32 and 27 4K Thunderbolt Hub Monitors carry the latest TCO designation and are registered EPEAT Gold with Climate+, while the Dell 32 Plus 4K QD-OLED Monitor meets high standards for energy efficiency with ENERGY STAR certification.

Samsung Ups the Monitor Game at CES 2025: AI, Blazing Speeds, & Maximum Desk Real Estate

Samsung TVs and Displays CES 2025 2025 Smart Monitor Odyssey ViewFinity Lineups dl1

Buckle up! CES 2025 is here! Samsung is kicking things off with the unveiling of a fresh lineup of monitors designed to cater to a wide range of users, from casual content consumers to hardcore gamers and productivity powerhouses. This year’s offerings seem to prioritize three key elements: AI integration, enhanced performance, and innovative form factors to maximize your desk space. Let’s dive into the details and see which monitor might be the perfect fit for your setup.

Smart Monitor M9: Your Entertainment Hub Gets an AI Upgrade

Gone are the days of fiddling with display settings for different content. The new Smart Monitor M9 (M90SF model) boasts industry-first AI features that aim to elevate your entertainment experience.

The new Smart Monitor M9 will be coming with AI Picture Optimizer. This nifty feature analyzes what you’re watching – be it a movie, a game, or a productivity application – and automatically fine-tunes the display settings for the best possible viewing experience. No more messing with brightness, contrast, or color temperature – the M9 takes care of it all.

AI Upscaling Pro is also coming along for the ride. The new feature utilizes advanced processing and neural networks to upscale lower-resolution content to near-4K quality. This means those aging DVDs or downloaded videos might just get a new lease on life.

Samsung is also positioning the M9 as an all-in-one entertainment hub. It boasts built-in smart TV functionalities, allowing you to access streaming services, browse the web, or even mirror content from your phone directly on the monitor. Talk about convenience!

Odyssey Gaming Monitors: Gearing Up for Next-Level Gaming

For the gamers out there, Samsung isn’t holding back. The Odyssey lineup welcomes two new contenders: the Odyssey OLED G6 and the Odyssey OLED G8. Here’s what makes them stand out.

Odyssey OLED G6: The First 27-Inch 4K OLED Gaming Monitor: This beauty brings together high resolution with the exceptional image quality of OLED technology. Imagine crisp visuals, deep blacks, and vibrant colors in a compact 27-inch form factor. Perfect for gamers who want a top-notch visual experience without sacrificing desk space.

Odyssey OLED G8: Speed Demon with a 500Hz Refresh Rate: Buckle up for a tear-free, ultra-smooth gaming experience. The G8 boasts a mind-blowing 500Hz refresh rate, the fastest on any OLED monitor to date. This translates to lightning-fast response times, ideal for high-octane games where every millisecond counts.

Both G6 and G8 Support Features for Enhanced Gaming: Gamers will appreciate HDR10+ support for stunning visuals, along with features like NVIDIA G-SYNC® and AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro compatibility for smooth motion and reduced screen tearing. Additionally, both monitors incorporate Samsung’s OLED Care Pro technology to mitigate the risk of burn-in, a common concern with OLED displays.

3D Displays are making a come back with the 27-inch Odyssey 3D (G90XF model). The new 3D monitor ditches the 3D glasses in favour of lenticular displays which bring a more customisable experience. It’s also using AI to generate 3D content from 2D sources.

ViewFinity: Maximize Your Desk Real Estate for Peak Productivity

For those who value screen real estate for multitasking and increased productivity, Samsung hasn’t forgotten about you. The ViewFinity lineup welcomes its largest model yet – a 37-inch 16:9 4K monitor.

Imagine having all your windows open, spreadsheets side-by-side, and design tools readily available at a glance. This monitor could be a game-changer for creators, editors, and anyone who juggles multiple applications simultaneously.

A Look Forward: AI, OLED Dominance, and What it Means for You

Samsung’s CES 2025 monitor lineup paints a clear picture of where display technology is headed: AI for a more convenient and personalized experience, a continued push for OLED technology with its superior visuals, and an increasing focus on maximizing desktop space for productivity.

Of course, specific pricing and release dates haven’t been announced yet, so stay tuned for further updates.

In the meantime, it’s exciting to see how these new technologies translate to real-world user experiences. Will AI truly simplify display settings? Can OLED technology overcome burn-in concerns and become the dominant display type? How will larger screen sizes impact productivity workflows? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – Samsung’s CES 2025 announcements have definitely set the stage for an exciting year in display technology.

So, What Does This Mean for You?

Let’s break down what these announcements mean for different types of users:

  • For the Casual Viewer: The Smart Monitor M9 with its AI enhancements could be a real game-changer. Imagine a display that automatically adjusts to your content, making movie nights more immersive and web browsing easier on the eyes. The built-in smart TV features also make it a versatile entertainment hub, potentially replacing the need for a separate TV in smaller spaces.
  • For the Hardcore Gamer: The Odyssey OLED G6 and G8 are clearly designed to push the boundaries of gaming performance. The G6 offers that sweet spot of high resolution and fast refresh rate, while the G8 is all about pure speed. If you’re a competitive gamer or someone who demands the absolute smoothest gameplay, the G8’s 500Hz refresh rate is definitely something to keep an eye on.
  • For the Productivity Power User: The expanded ViewFinity lineup, especially the new 37-inch model, is a boon for multitasking. If you regularly work with multiple applications or need a large canvas for creative work, these monitors could significantly boost your productivity.

The Bigger Picture: A Glimpse into the Future of Displays

Samsung’s announcements at CES 2025 aren’t just about individual products; they offer a glimpse into the future of displays. The emphasis on AI integration suggests that displays are becoming more intelligent and personalized, adapting to our needs and preferences automatically. The continued push for OLED technology indicates that we can expect even better image quality and performance in the years to come. And the focus on form factor and ergonomics shows that manufacturers are taking into account how we actually use our displays in our daily lives.

Pricing and Availability: The All-Important Details

Now, for the question on everyone’s mind: when can you get your hands on these new monitors, and how much will they set you back? Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t released specific pricing or availability details yet. We can expect more information to be released closer to the launch dates, which are also yet to be confirmed. However, based on previous releases and the technology involved, we can speculate that these monitors will likely fall into the premium price range.

As always, it’s important to take early announcements with a grain of salt. Real-world performance and user reviews will ultimately determine whether these monitors live up to the hype. But based on what we’ve seen at CES 2025, it’s safe to say that Samsung is pushing the boundaries of display technology, and we’re excited to see what the future holds. Keep an eye out for further updates as we get closer to the official launch dates.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 Gaming Monitor Lands in Malaysia for MYR 9,499 Onward

Samsung launched their updated ultimate gaming monitor back in CES 2023 in January. To be fair, CES 2023 saw Samsung showcasing several versions of their ultimate gaming monitor, the Odyssey G9. One of them was the Odyssey Neo G9 that packs dual UHD resolution on a 57-inch curved panel. While it does sound nice, only NVIDIA’s most powerful GeForce RTX 4090 seems to fit the bill for that display. You might even struggle getting the most out of the monitor even with NVIDIA’s most extreme GPU. The Odyssey Neo G9 is a little unrealistic then. But what about the other monitor Samsung introduced? What about the Odyssey OLED G9?

The Odyssey OLED G9 is not necessarily a new recipe from Samsung. Samsung already made the Odyssey G9 in the prior years. It is an out-of-this-world, hardware-pushing, borderline overkill of a gaming monitor that offers 49 inches of ultra-wide experience in dual QHD resolution at a curve. That also means you do not need to lean to one side of the display to see what is happening at the edge, simply turn your head and you are there. It was, in its day, the ultimate gaming monitor for the ultimate gamers. You want one, until. CES 2023 arrives, and Samsung says they can make this recipe even better.

Odyssey OLED G9 (8)
Source: Samsung

It is a simple recipe; just add OLED into the mix. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is now born. While it is new in Malaysia, the product has seen the light of day in other regions, including South Korea and the United States. No matter though, that was a month ago and now it is officially arriving in Malaysia.

For starters, if you missed our CES 2023 coverage on Samsung’s ultimate gaming monitor, it offers 49 inches still at 1800R curvature. It still allows you to just swivel your head to see everything clearly and easily from a single spot. You still get the 32:9 dual QHD resolution from the older regular Odyssey G9. It even comes standard with 240Hz refresh rate for ultra-smooth frame rates when possible, and 0.3ms gray-to-gray response time for ultra-fast and responsive gaming. It still comes with AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro for tear-free gaming and visual experience for even more immersion when you game. There is also a new CoreSync and Core Lighting+ that cleverly lights up in RGB and according to what you see on your display to add even more immersion to your games and movies. If you do not want a bulky speaker set-up to take up space on your desk, there are even two 5W speakers to work with.

The biggest change to it, and its party piece, is the OLED panel that this one comes with. It now offers a true HDR experience with DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400 standard. That also means that you are not just getting vivid colours, but an inky black that is more accurately represented than before. You can even start to appreciate the incredibly vivid and bright colours that the Odyssey OLED G9 can now offer thanks to the typical OLED colour reproduction.

  • Odyssey OLED G9 (1)
  • Odyssey OLED G9 (3)
  • Odyssey OLED G9 (7)
  • Odyssey OLED G9 (8)

It is not just games that will pop on the display. You can now opt for the Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC) to come with TizenOS built right into the monitor to directly reach OTT services like Netflix or Prime Video. Since the display real estate is expansive enough, you can even opt to work with multiple views (Multi View) for the ultimate multitasking experience. It is modernized too, to take on the future world. It offers HDMI 2.1, Micro HDMI 2.1 and Display Port 1.4 inputs with Auto Source Switch+ so that you can work with multiple devices quickly. They redesigned the stands too, sturdier than ever while still allowing you to easily adjust its height and tilt.

[Next@Acer] New Predator Gaming Laptops & Monitors Bring Even More Immersive Experiences

Acer’s Predator Gaming has become one of the industry’s mainstays when it comes to the gaming scene. It comes as no surprise that Acer has opted to expand and streamline their lineup this year at their biannual Next@Acer event. Together with new naming schemes, the lineup is also updating the specifications and power in their gaming arsenal.

A Streamlined Predator Helios Lineup

The all-new Predator Helios lineup is not only coming with updated specifications. Acer has streamlined its naming dropping the 300, 500 and 700 series monikers. Instead, they’ve opted to use the screen sizes to denote each model of the laptop in the Helios lineup.

  • Predator Helios 16 PH16 71 04
  • Predator Helios 16 PH16 71 05
  • Predator Helios 16 PH16 71 01

This year’s Predator Helios lineup consists of the Predator Helios 16 and Predator Helios 18 – for now. The two laptops bring the latest and greatest processors and GPUs from Intel and NVIDIA respectively. Together with configurations supporting up to the Core i9 or i7 HX processors and the RTX4080 Laptop GPU, the laptops are built for gaming. They also support up to up to 32 GB DDR5-4800 MHz RAM and up to 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD storage.

Mini LED Makes its Helios Debut

Both laptops are also the first in the Predator Gaming lineup to sport Mini LED panels. These panels bring deeper blacks and higher contrast than previous Helios laptops. The 1,000,000:1 contrast and the 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut promise better colour reproduction and more immersive gaming. This paired with NVIDIA’s Ada Lovelace architecture, DLSS and NVIDIA’s Reflex create one of the best systems to experience cutting-edge AAA games. Both versions come with a 16:10 aspect ratio. However, the Helios 16 comes with options for a WQXGA (2560×1600) display with 165Hz or 240Hz refresh rates or a Mini LED panel with a 250Hz refresh rate. The Helios 18 on the other hand comes with an additional WUXGA (1920×1200) with a 165Hz refresh rate.

The cutting-edge specifications also come with an enhanced cooling system. The new laptops come with dual custom-engineered 5th Generation AeroBlade 3D metal fans and rectangular vector heat pipes for better heat absorption and dissipation. This is paired with liquid metal thermal grease for even better cooling.

The new Helios 16 and Helios 18 also come with a newly redesigned chassis. The redesign brings together clean edges and a slimmer silhouette. The displays are also surrounded by thinner bezels for a more immersive experience. Of course, it’s completed with a mini LED backlit keyboard with 1.8mm key travel and anti-ghosting N-key rollover. The laptops also come with a complete set of ports on the back and the latest wireless connectivity including WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. They also have support for Thunderbolt and Intel Killer Ethernet.

New Predator Gaming Monitors

Together with the new laptops, Acer also announced two new Predator Gaming Monitors. The new Predator X45 and Predator X27U feature OLED displays with 98.5% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut and support for HDR10. Both also have support for AMD FreeSync Premium technology and sport 240Hz refresh rates and 0.01ms pixel response times.

The Predator X45 comes with a 45-inch UWQHD display with a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels. The curved monitor sports an 800R curvature giving a more immersive gaming experience. It also has a metal stand with a sleek, sturdy metal base. The Predator X27U on the other hand is a 27-inch flat panel with a WQHD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels.

Both of the monitors come with come outfitted with DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0 ports. They also sport KVM switches which allow you to switch between desktop and laptop while maintaining the same keyboard and mouse setup. They also sport a USB Hub with USB Type-C for all the gadgets.

LG’s New SMART Monitor is the Other Choice

Before LG releases their new LG monitor that you see here, the only manufacturer you could get a smart monitor that works like TV, but for PCs, is Samsung. If you have not known yet, Samsung’s SMART monitors for PCs work pretty much like their smart TVs. You get Tizen OS for smart TV, you can install all sorts of apps for the TV, and work it exactly like a TV, even without a PC connected to it.

While they are the only one producing monitors of this kind, we think that the product comes with a lot of potential for smaller working set-ups and even homes. The larger sized smart monitor at 32-inch offers 4K resolution and affordable entertainment option for those who are looking for a dual function display in a smaller space. You do not need to get a separate TV box or Chromecast for it, and that makes it a viable TV replacement at a much smaller and digestible form factor.

Samsung’s position as one of the biggest names in smart TVs is a big plus for the to produce PC monitors with their proprietary TV Operating System (OS) too. So comes the question, what about others? What about LG? LG answers with this one, the 32SQ780S.

The new SMART Monitor, as LG names it, is a new 32-inch monitor for the PC. Its 32-inch VA panel offers 4K UHD resolution, perfectly in line with the latest of smart TVs. Serving it natively is LG’s WebOS 22 that also powers LG’s latest large form factor TVs. The 32-inch 4K monitor also offers 90% in DCI-P3 colour gamut with HDR10 support for the best in-class entertainment experience. WebOS 22 gives you access to apps like Netflix and YouTube without even being connected to any PC or consoles. At the same time, the built-in 5-watt dual channel stereo speakers should be a good enough audio source for users.

With WebOS, the LG SMART Monitor is not just an entertainment hub too. It can be your smart home hub with ThinQ hub. You can control any compatible smart home appliances with no fuss. While it does not offer Chromecast natively, you can still project your smartphone to the display via MiraCast.

The best part of the LG SMART Monitor is the fact that the monitor comes with LG’s clever Ergo Stand that gives the LG monitor flexibility like no other for monitors in its class. With the stand, you not only save table space and real estate for a larger working surface and storage. You also get to put or orient your monitor in any way you like for your working or entertainment comfort.

The 32-inch 4K 32SQ780S UHG LG SMART Monitor will be available in early November 2022 in the United States first. They say that other markets should follow soon after, that includes Malaysia. There is no official pricing that has been provided yet at least for Malaysia. You can expect them to price the monitor at about the same price as Samsung’s offerings.
