In addition, Bilibili Comics has added Anime-Planet’s community ratings to their pages as part of a new third-party scoring feature.

At launch, Bilibili Comics has released sample chapters for a set of 60 series on Anime-Planet, covering a wide range of genres such as BL, GL, martial arts, science fiction, and comedy. More series and chapters will be provided on an ongoing basis moving forward. The community can read these chapters for free, add a rating, and track their reading progress on Anime-Planet, in addition to being able to follow links to Bilibili Comics to read the full series and to see Anime-Planet’s combined community score.

Kim Cameron, Anime-Planet’s founder, said: “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to partner with Bilibili Comics. Bilibili Comics offers so many high-quality manga and webtoons that we know our community will love, and we’re excited that users can make their voices heard in the ratings. We are looking forward to strengthening this partnership moving forward. “

The collaboration is expected to have a profound impact on Bilibili Comics. The majority of Bilibili Comics’ works have versions translated into English, so Anime-Planet, one of the most influential anime and manga communities amongst English speakers, will enable more fans in English-speaking markets to read Bilibili Comics’ highly-regarded series, and will continue to strengthen the legal manga industry.  Anime-Planet has established strong credibility in the community and industry in the over 20 years of its operation, and as a result, displaying Anime-Planet’s community ratings on the Bilibili Comics platform will optimize their user experience as well.

Bilibili Comics was launched in April 2021 and has more than 15 million monthly active users. More than 700 comics that are translated into English, Indonesian, and Spanish are available on the platform. The company’s most popular series is Heaven’s Official Blessing, which has an animated adaptation that has aired on streaming platforms such as Funimation and Netflix. CNN’s ‘Going Green’ meets the next generation of environmentalists leading the charge against climate change

Special coverage airs July 18-22, with a 30-minute program airing July 23

HONG KONG, July 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Protecting our planet often means starting small – but every action has the potential to spark a global transformation. On the upcoming episode of ‘Going Green’, CNN meets the next generation of young environmentalists who are sprinting into action and bringing their innovations to life to protect every corner of the earth.

CNN’s ‘Going Green’ meets the next generation of environmentalists leading the charge against climate change
CNN’s ‘Going Green’ meets the next generation of environmentalists leading the charge against climate change

CNN hears from Melati Wijsen from Bali, Indonesia, who started a youth campaign to make the island plastic bag free when she was just 12 years old. After several years, and a conversation with the governor, she succeeded – and a law was passed banning single use plastics. Now, Wijsen has launched YOUTHTOPIA, a platform where young people can learn from each other about how to create change. YOUTHTOPIA now runs 150 free youth workshops and programs for young changemakers focusing on tackling the climate crisis through education.

We also meet Fionn Ferreira, a 21-year-old student from Ireland on a mission to remove microplastics from our oceans. Ferreira is building an ingenious way to collect these particles by using a magnetic mixture to extract plastics from liquid. He won the Google Science Fair in 2019 with his invention, as well as a financial boost to jumpstart a pilot program in a wastewater facility in Ohio. Since then, Ferreira’s work has taken him all the way to the Arctic to continue his research, and most recently to the World Economic Forum where he helped bring together young changemakers to share their perspectives on the global agenda.

The programme then travels to Nairobi, Kenya, to meet a teenager hoping to use football to inspire young people to create a greener environment. Lesein Mutunkei is the founder of Trees 4 Goals, an initiative which began when Mutunkei decided he would mark every goal he scored playing football by planting a tree. What began as a solo endeavour has kicked off across Kenya – bringing a culture of conservation to a wider team of players. Mutunkei also sows with intent: he only plants indigenous trees to maintain ecosystem balance, and has been working with a team of other young environmentalists to help revive the country’s forests.

It’s then off to the Amazon rainforest to hear from Helena Gualinga, an Indigenous rights and climate justice advocate who hails from the Sarayaku community in Ecuador. For decades Amazonian women in Ecuador have been empowered and outspoken about protecting the rainforest. Gualinga is amplifying that message and spreading her tribe’s worldview at climate change conferences across the globe, giving first-hand accounts of life in the Amazon and the impact that deforestation is having on the rainforest.

CNN also travels to the land of the First Nations in Canada to meet Autumn Peltier, an Indigenous rights and water activist. Peltier shares how she became interested in water protection after a trip to a nearby Indigenous community whose water sources were polluted, making the tap water undrinkable. She has spent the past eight years speaking out about the importance of clean water to international organizations like the UN and the World Economic Forum. Peltier also explains why she believes the fight for clean water is in the hands of young people.

CGTN: Xi stresses strengthening sense of community for Chinese nation

BEIJING, July 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — As the lyrics of a popular folk song in China go, “the brothers and sisters from the 56 ethnic groups belong to the same family.”

China is home to 56 ethnic groups, with the majority Han making up around 91.5 percent of the country’s population, according to 2021 data. Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has been a multi-ethnic region since ancient times and is home to over 45 ethnic groups.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stressed promoting ethnic unity and progress and consolidating the sense of community for the Chinese nation during his visit to Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning.

Protecting cultures of various ethnic groups

The extensive and profound Chinese civilization is composed of outstanding cultures of various ethnic groups, said Xi when watching a show called “Manas” from the Kirgiz ethnic minority at the Museum of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The performances have been inscribed as an intangible cultural heritage.

A cultural heritage like “Manas” is a treasure of both the Kirgizs and the Chinese nation, he said, urging better preservation and promotion efforts.

All ethnic groups in Xinjiang have items on the national and autonomous regional representative lists of intangible cultural heritage, and 133 cultural heritage sites are under state protection, according to a white paper released by the country’s State Council Information Office last year.

The cultural traditions of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang are well protected, said the paper, giving examples such as folk cultural events, such as the Han Lantern Festival, the Uygur Meshrep, the Kazak Aytes, the Kirgiz Kobuz Ballad Singing Fair, the Mongolian Nadam Fair, and the Hui Hua’er Folk Song Festival, which are still widely celebrated.

Improving livelihood of all ethnic groups

While visiting the Guyuanxiang residential community in the Tianshan District on Wednesday morning, Xi urged local officials to improve community services to benefit residents of all ethnic groups.

The president also traveled on Wednesday afternoon to Shihezi City, where he inspected officials and staff workers at the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC), a group whose status he called “irreplaceable.”

As an important component of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the XPCC is a special social organization that handles its own administrative and judicial affairs within the reclamation areas under its administration, in accordance with the laws and regulations of the state and the region. It assumes the responsibilities of cultivating and guarding the border areas.

Speaking to XPCC officials and staff workers, Xi said he was pleased about the great progress made by the XPCC in reform and development, and XPCC officials and staff workers themselves should also be proud.

He also learned about the history of the XPCC in cultivating and guarding the frontier areas, as well as the Corps’ efforts in strengthening its primary-level organizations, developing specialty agriculture, and promoting the integrated development of the Corps and local areas.

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has seen continuous economic development with businesses thriving. Xinjiang registered a 7-percent GDP growth in 2021, totaling 1.6 trillion yuan (about $253.2 billion).

A total of 477,400 urban jobs were created in the region, reducing the surveyed urban unemployment rate by 1.1 percentage points to 2.2 percent, according to the Bureau of Statistics in the autonomous region.

Nurturing talent, coordinating COVID-19 response with economic and social development and advancing Belt and Road cooperation were also stressed by the president during the inspection tour.

World’s first desert-circling railway brings vitality to Xinjiang

BEIJING, July 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — A news report by China.org.cn on Xinjiang:

Amid an endless desert, a train runs along an elevated section of track as sand flies below. What a magnificent sight.

This scene is in China’s Xinjiang. Recently, an 825 km rail line from Hotan to Ruoqiang has entered operation. The new line links up with the Golmud-Korla and Southern Xinjiang rail lines, forming the world’s first desert rail loop line encircling the Taklamakan, the world’s second-largest shifting-sand desert.

Sitting in a speeding train, passengers can enjoy views of the vast dunes through the windows. The Niya Ruins, the ancient city of Andil, and various other cultural sites all stand along the route, offering unique vistas.

During the past three years building the Hotan-Ruoqiang rail line, construction workers crossed 460 km of uninhabited areas where there is no water, electricity or cellphone signal, braving quicksand, sandstorms, extreme heat and freezing temperatures. It is their painstaking efforts that have created this extraordinary engineering feat.

However, the railway line has much more significance.

Due to their natural conditions, many places along the route were not previously connected to the railway network, with locals having to cross the Tianshan Mountains if they wanted to go out of Xinjiang. High quality specialties such as cotton and dates, although produced in large quantities, were unable to reach the market due to poor transportation links. With a harsh ecological environment and weak economic foundation, four of the five counties where stations are located along the Hotan-Ruoqiang Railway used to be in severe poverty.

During the construction of the railway, priority was given to purchasing locally produced goods for workers, and impoverished residents were recruited to help boost their incomes. After the railway entered operation, two passenger trains have been arranged a day for the convenience of local people of all ethnic groups. Meanwhile, eight freight trains run daily transporting local specialties such as cotton, walnuts, red dates and minerals out of Xinjiang.

The railway, so to speak, has brought life to the desert.

Railways and highways are highlights of the wondrous Xinjiang. For example, the Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway linking vast land and kaleidoscopic landscapes has enabled crude oil, cotton and other resources from Xinjiang to be delivered to other parts of the country. The Duku Highway, dubbed “China’s most beautiful road,” offering a wide range of scenery along its route, has accelerated the development of such resources as coal and timber. The opening and operation of ChinaEurope freight trains has also expanded Xinjiang’s foreign trade market.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, enormous human and material resources were invested to build overland routes connecting Xinjiang and the rest of the country. The more stunning and magnificent these roads and railways are, the more it means that they have broken through the bottlenecks hampering the survival and development prospects of local people.

The rail loop encircling the Taklamakan Desert has drawn what netizens call the “strongest closed loop on earth.” While transporting delicious fruits and rich resources in Southern Xinjiang, it also contributes to a picture of people of all ethnic groups living with satisfaction and dignity. With the railway, even more changes are in sight.

Senmiao Technology Reports Fiscal 2022 Year-end Financial Results

CHENGDU, China, July 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Senmiao Technology Limited (“Senmiao” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: AIHS), a financing and servicing company focused on the online ride-hailing industry in China, as well as an operator of its own online ride-hailing platform, today announced financial results for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2022.

Please note that the following financial results reflect the deconsolidation of the financial figures of Senmiao’s former variable interest entities (“VIEs”) Sichuan Senmiao Ronglian Technology Co., Ltd. (“Sichuan Senmiao”), Sichuan Jinkailong Automobile Leasing Co., Ltd. (“Jinkailong”) and Chengdu Youlu Technology Ltd. (“Youlu”), as of March 31, 2022. Jinkailong’s and Youlu’s business results have now been classified as discontinued operations but were previously classified under Automobile Transaction and Related Services.

Fiscal 2022 Financial and Operating Highlights

  • Total revenues of $4.9 million from continuing operations, a 124.5% increase from $2.2 million in the prior fiscal year
  • From October 23, 2020, the date Senmiao launched its online ride-hailing platform, to March 31, 2022, approximately 20 million rides were completed through the platform (including orders completed on the platform operated by Senmiao and orders completed on partner platforms, such as Meituan) with fares paid by riders totaling $63.3 million.
  • Net loss from continuing operations of $5.6 million, compared to $7.5 million in the prior fiscal year

Management Commentary

Xi Wen, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Senmiao, stated, “Despite ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic environment in China, we are pleased with the significant growth we have achieved in our automobile transaction and related service and online ride-hailing platform services businesses, which drove our impressive top line results for fiscal year 2022. With our equity investee company, we leased a total of over 2,300 vehicles in fiscal 2022, compared to 1,200 in fiscal 2021, which resulted in a 666% year-over-year increase in rental income. We believe our continuous efforts in shifting our business focus to these new lines of business have begun to exhibit remarkable results, and we are optimistic about their future growth potential, which will continue to fuel top line growth for Senmiao as we continue to explore new regional markets. As of March 31, 2022, our platform has helped facilitate approximately 17 million rides since launch, with an additional 3 million rides completed on our partners’ platforms. Our ride-hailing services are now available in 20+ cities throughout China.”

Mr. Wen continued, “During fiscal year 2022, Senmiao strengthened our partnership base, establishing and expanding upon relationships with companies that possess a significant national presence and the resources to help us enter new local regions. This has enabled us to significantly grow our main businesses. We believe we are in a strong position to continue growing our online ride-hailing platform, which we anticipate will have a positive impact on our auto rental business as our replicable model of offering a flexible automobile rental option has been well received by our online ride-hailing drivers. With that in mind, Senmiao plans to provide a series of product solutions to increase the number of our automobiles for operating leases. We will remain focused on becoming a leading financing and servicing company and a significant player in the online ride-hailing market in China.”

Financial Review

Revenues

Total revenues from continuing operations were $4.9 million for the year ended March 31, 2022, a 124.5% increase from $2.2 million in the prior fiscal year. This increase was largely due to increased contributions from operating lease revenues from automobile rentals and online ride-hailing platform services.

During the year ended March 31, 2022, Senmiao continued to shift its business focus to automobile rental options for ride-hailing drivers while developing its online ride-hailing platform services business. As a result, the automobile rental business generated operating lease revenues of $1.7 million for the year ended March 31, 2022, compared to $0.2 million in the prior fiscal year, due to a significant increase in the number of automobiles leased. The online ride-hailing platform services business generated revenues of $2.7 million, a 195.1% increase from $0.9 million in the prior fiscal year.

Cost of Revenues

Cost of revenues from continuing operations increased to $6.5 million for the year ended March 31, 2022, from $2.0 million in the prior fiscal year, primarily due to increased expenses related to costs of automobiles under operating leases and direct expense and technical service fees related to Senmiao’s online ride-hailing platform.

Gross Loss (Profit)

Gross loss from continuing operations was $1.6 million for the year ended March 31, 2022, compared to gross profit from continuing operations of $0.2 million in the prior fiscal year, due to the significant increase in cost of revenues as a result of the rapid expansion of the Company’s automobile leasing and online ride-hailing platform services businesses. Senmiao leased and sub-leased approximately 400 automobiles to online ride-haling drivers through its former VIE Jinkailong during the year ended March 31, 2022. Rental income of approximately $1.3 million from Jinkailong was eliminated in the consolidated financial statements while sub-leasing income from these automobiles of approximately $1.8 million was recorded in loss of discontinued operations.

Selling, General and Administrative Expenses

Selling, general and administrative expenses for continuing operations increased to $9.5 million for the year ended March 31, 2022, compared to $5.9 million in the prior fiscal year. The increase was primarily due to increased salary and employee benefit expenses as a result of hiring additional staff, increased office rental expense and charges, and increase in advertising and promotion expenses related to the online ride-hailing platform.

Net Loss

Net loss from continuing operations for the year ended March 31, 2022, was $5.6 million, compared to $7.5 million in the prior fiscal year. The year-over-year improvement was primarily due to an $8.7 million increase in the fair value change of derivative liabilities related to warrants issued in the Company’s previous offerings, offset by the increase in the loss from operations of $5.6 million.

Loss per Share

Loss per share for continuing operations was approximately $1.66 based on a weighted average number of basic and diluted common stock of 5.7 million, compared to approximately $1.65 based on a weighted average number of basic and diluted common stock of 3.9 million.

On April 5, 2022, Senmiao announced a 1-for-10 reverse stock split with trading to begin on a split-adjusted basis at the market open on April 6, 2022. Weighted average number of basic and diluted common stock numbers noted herein were given retroactive effect to account for the 1-for-10 reverse stock split.

Results from Discontinued Operations
