TPIsoftware Named A Top FT 500 Asia-Pacific High-Growth Company of 2023 for Second Consecutive Year

TAIPEI, March 23, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — TPIsoftware, the leading software company in Taiwan specializing in FinTech, has been listed in the Financial Times’s fifth annual ranking of 500 high-growth Asia-Pacific. This year, TPIsoftware ranks 368th with a CAGR of 29.7%, 73 places higher than last year, among the top 500 fast-growing companies across the APAC region. As the only software solution provider in Taiwan listed for a second consecutive year, TPIsoftware has demonstrated its momentum in building a global brand and expanding business into Southeast Asia, empowering Taiwan’s software industry to get a foothold in the international market.

The FT ranking of 500 high-growth Asia-Pacific 2023, conducted by the British publication Financial Times in collaboration with the German research company Statista, identifies the top 500 APAC companies with the highest percentage growth in revenues between 2018 and 2021. The technology sector still dominates the list, but the industries are more diversified this year, which indicates a sign of economic recovery across industries in the post-pandemic era. Compared to the performance last year, only 15 Taiwanese companies are listed this year, with only two listed the second year in a row, showing the fact that it is not easy for companies to achieve consistently high performance in the long run, especially for software providers. Receiving several global awards such as Taiwan Excellence Awards and CX Asia Excellence Awards, TPIsoftware offers comprehensive software solutions and cloud services domestically and overseas with extensive cross-national project experiences.

Ben Yao, CEO of TPIsoftware, said: “Being selected as one of the top 500 fast-growing companies in the Asia-Pacific region by the Financial Times for two consecutive years is the best affirmation for TPIsoftware’s achievements. We’ve ramped up overseas expansion by developing local strategic partners to utilize their local experience and expertise. We are currently building new service points in Bangkok and Tokyo to provide instant and professional support to our regional customers.”

“We have seen a strong growth in cloud computing and a high demand in cloud migration for the financial sector. Therefore, we have built strategic partnerships with GCP and AWS to expand the scope of our products and provide businesses with the best cloud services,” said Ben Yao.

Shanghai Jahwa Accelerates Management Change and Upgrades to Lead China’s Cosmetics Industry to A New Era

SHANGHAI, March 21, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — On March 17, Shanghai Jahwa United Co.,Ltd. (Shanghai Jahwa) held its 2023 Strategic Conference entitled “To Beauty To Youth” to share the company’s development strategy, ESG management and industry trends. Entering its 125th year, Shanghai Jahwa has created several legends in the Chinese cosmetics industry. As the Deputy General Manager, CFO and Board Secretary of the company, Min Han promoted the management change of the company, making Shanghai Jahwa the first beauty company to introduce ESG management model, and led the digital transformation of the company to achieve the integration of industry and finance, empowering business innovation and development.

Green development and harmonious coexistence have become the consensus for more and more international companies. In 2021, Min Han, as the executive of Shanghai Jahwa, promoted the company to introduce the leading ESG management concept in the international capital market and released the “Mid to Long-term Sustainable Development Outline” to accelerate the achievement of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and lead the sustainable development of the company and the consumer industry. ESG requires companies to make more investments in environment, society and governance, such as using biodegradable materials and full-chain recycling along the whole chain, which will inevitably affect the company’s profit in the short to medium term. Min Han led a team to study green and low-carbon, social investment and corporate governance, starting from the company’s long-term development strategic plan. The ESG project received full support from the board of directors in 2021 after nearly two years of repeated demonstration and adequate communication with the board members, and added a medium and long-term performance consideration dimension for the management, so that the implementation of ESG on the ground can be guaranteed. The company takes green environmental protection and carbon neutral as important issues into its daily management, and promoted upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry chain to join the low-carbon ecosystem. Meanwhile, according to the company’s online development and digital transformation needs, issues such as consumer privacy protection and data security are included in the ESG issues, so that the company can enhance data security management awareness while using technology empowering (e.g. AI Face project, CRM database). As of 2022, Shanghai Jahwa has jumped to BBB status in the rating of the internationally renowned indexing company MSCI ESG, and is at the top echelon of the Chinese cosmetics industry.

With the wide application of new technologies such as AI, Blockchain, Cloud and Big Data, it is also imperative for enterprise management to embrace digitalization, which will help enterprises make more efficient and accurate decisions. Min Han mentioned in a previous interview that finance is the first step in corporate reform. As CFO, Min Han advocates accelerating the construction of financial dimensional thinking, business-financial integration and digital management transformation within the company. She proposed that “with value creation as the goal, the digital transformation of finance will be accomplished by means of quantifiable, visualized and optimized data”. Specifically, Shanghai Jahwa takes the opportunity of deep integration of digital technology and financial management to build a digital financial system featuring automated transaction processing, unmanned monthly closing, real-time risk insight, and modeled decision-making. The company has introduced a digital employee “RPA Finance Robot”, which can intelligently review 50% of financial documents and improve human efficiency. In addition, nearly 90% of business documents are intelligently booked and accounting vouchers are generated in 60 seconds, and the issuance of the monthly reports of subsidiaries is significantly shortened from 20 days in 2016 to 5 working days in 2022. The company’s financial system is interconnected with the business system without forming any data silos, and finally the data resources of the whole group are integrated and managed and deeply mined through the data center, creating an informationized and digitalized platform management ecology and enabling the efficient development of the company’s business. In recognition of Min Han’s holistic and forward-looking contributions to the digital transformation of Shanghai Jahwa and his leadership in the reform of management accounting in China, Min Han was awarded the honorary title of “IMA Honorary Management Accounting Leader” certified by IMA.

Within the new context of digital transformation, financial work, as one of the central tasks of enterprise management, is no longer limited to accounting and supervision, but requires business insight, extending its work to the whole business process, understanding the real needs of front-end business, providing business analysis and decision support for business departments, and realizing the integration of business and finance. Take the company’s Herborist brand for an example, the first Chinese herbal skin care brand rooted in the concept of yin-yang balance, which continued to lose market share from 2014-2019. Min Han led the finance team to work with the business unit to examine the brand’s product matrix, new product recruitment rate, repurchase rate, cost analysis of core individual products, brand marketing delivery efficiency, CRM customer retention, POS system single store transaction data, and impact on financial statement revenue and earnings, so that the brand has continued to improve over the past three years and has been awarded $22.5 million in 2021 from a special government program to support its medium to long-term growth.

The reason that Shanghai Jahwa can lead the industry in every stage of its 125 years of development cannot be separated from its advanced, open and inclusive corporate management philosophy and its genetically-rooted Shanghai-style characteristics. ESG management, digital transformation and integration of business and finance outline a beautiful blueprint for Shanghai Jahwa’s development in the medium to long term. Grasping the pulse of the times and integrating the century-old craftsmanship culture, we believe that in the near future, Shanghai Jahwa will bring Chinese beauty to the world.

WiMi to Work on Convolutional Neural Network-Based Image Enhancement Algorithms

BEIJING, March 8, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — WiMi Hologram Cloud Inc. (NASDAQ: WIMI) (“WiMi” or the “Company”), a leading global Hologram Augmented Reality (“AR”) Technology provider, today announced that it is working on image enhancement algorithms based on CNN (convolutional neural network). CNNs have had significant achievements in many fields, such as computer vision and natural language processing. Applying convolutional neural networks to image enhancement has obvious advantages and can solve challenges in different environments.

The essence of CNN is to map the input image to a new mathematical model through multiple data transformations or dimensionality reduction. A CNN consists mainly of an input layer, a convolutional layer, a pooling layer, a fully connected layer, and an output layer.

The convolution layer performs a convolution operation on the input image or the output features of the previous layer, calculates the inner product of the entire convolution kernel and the corresponding position of the input image or feature map, and extracts the relevant image feature map. The pooling layer reduces the number of parameters and computational effort in the network by reducing the dimensionality of the activation feature map, maintaining the feature scale invariance property, and reducing overfitting to a certain extent. The pooling layer can downsample the image using the basis associated with the image section, reducing the amount of computational data and retaining valid information values. After multiple convolutional pooling operations on the image, the convolutional neural network classifies the features through the fully connected layer by using the one-dimensional activation feature vector obtained by expanding the three-dimensional activation feature map as input to the fully connected layer.

WiMi’s CNN-based image enhancement algorithms have substantial advantages in both extracting image feature information and feature representation. CNNs can share weights, perform convolutional calculations, and have powerful feature learning and mapping capabilities. It also ensures noise suppression and image detail preservation, has exceptionally high invariance during image displacement, scaling, and other deformations and exhibits better-reconstructed image quality.

CNNs can learn complex hierarchical features of images and accomplish complex image recognition tasks. At the same time, CNN-based feature extraction can understand a picture’s deep semantic feature information. This enables it to capture the contextual content of an image well and to train and learn the input image repeatedly, ultimately obtaining the best image enhancement effect to meet the requirements of the human visual system for images.

Currently, image enhancement algorithms based on CNN are widely used in security, medicine, and ecology. In the era of rapid global information development, world knowledge is increasingly dependent on the explosive transmission of information. Most people still know the world mainly through their eyes. Therefore, images are not only a carrier of human visual information but also an essential medium for disseminating information. To obtain practical information from images quickly, the demand for image quality is increasing, the need for image enhancement will continue to grow, and the field of application of image enhancement technology will be further expanded.

In the future, WiMi’s CNN-based image enhancement algorithm will strive for better progress and greater breakthroughs in visual effects, contrast ratio, and signal-to-noise ratio, laying a solid technical foundation for it to play a more significant role in more industrial fields.

Cloud Packet Core Revenue to Grow from US$11 Billion in 2022 to US$16 Billion in 2027

LONDON, March 7, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — 5G core (5GC) network marks the first ‘G’ that paves the way for CSPs to operate solely in the software layer. Cloud-native EPC functions and 5GC are key drivers for new telecom value creation. With the ongoing adoption of cloudified packet core networks, it is the first time the industry has relied on the core network to introduce something above and beyond enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB). According to a new report from global technology intelligence firm ABI Research, cloud packet core revenue will grow from US$11 billion in 2022 to US$16 billion in 2027.

In a modular and increasingly disaggregated ecosystem characterized by ‘vertical’ and ‘horizontal’ openness, technology choices for software, hardware, and services that underpin packet core buildouts are fundamental for BT, Orange, Telefónica, and Vodafone, among other CSPs, to expand existing MBB business and explore new business opportunities. Global technology intelligence firm ABI Research forecasts that, for MBB, core network application software is expected to grow from US$4.8 billion in 2022 to US$6.6 billion in 2027 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6%.

“Today, much of the traffic going through the packet core is handled via physical network elements. With a growing 5G subscriber base and ongoing adoption of 5GC, the expectation is that 4G traffic shifts to 5G networks,” explains Don Alusha, 5G Core and Edge Networks Senior Analyst at ABI Research. “That, in addition to a rapid proliferation of software-fueled advances, means that today’s classic model for packet core equipment sales will likely take a different structure tomorrow.” What drives that point home is that hardware sales for packet core networks are expected to reach US$3.9 billion in 2027, not a significant growth from the current market valued at US$3.5 billion in 2022. With an ongoing cloudification of packet core networks, the commercial imperative for vendors like Cisco, HPE, and Juniper, among others, is stark: depart from a finite supply of integrated equipment to models based on software where the supply is essentially infinite.

Further, new value stands to be created in professional services. ABI Research forecasts that packet core services are expected to grow from US$3 billion in 2022 to US$5.2 billion in 2027 at a CAGR of 12%. “There is a growing market for services to help CSPs manage 5G rollouts driven by hardware and software separation, multi-vendor stacks, and expanded business scope drive. In that order. With 3G and 4G, packet core services revolve around one supplier providing their own software and hardware in an integrated fashion to ensure feature alignment, performance, and lifecycle management,” says Alusha. But going forward, with cloud packet core, the industry structure stands to be horizontally stratified. So, the supplier of the future will need to aid CSPs in all aspects of technology – from defining network architecture to managing workloads to building applications potentially coming from diverse suppliers.

The rules of buying and selling packet core are changing. How suppliers build products, drive revenue, the services they offer, and what they do to succeed in an increasingly cloudified ecosystem are all on the table. “For the next few years, the likes of Cisco, HPE, and Juniper must execute a ‘do both’ model. They need to run the current product playbook and layer in a new software-based selling strategy in line with new economic realities, Alusha advises. Ultimately, suppliers must help, not sell. Helping will sell, but selling will not help. Helping requires strong system integration and services capabilities. In addition, the market is becoming more complex and riskier. Success will go to the fittest – not necessarily the biggest -because “bigness” is weakened by commoditization. Innovation in the process – how things get done internally – will be as important as innovation in packet core products that vendors sell,” Alusha concludes.

These findings are from ABI Research’s Network Cloud Infrastructure market data report. This report is part of the company’s 5G Core & Edge Networks research service, which includes research, data, and analyst insights. Based on extensive primary interviews, Application Analysis reports present an in-depth analysis of key market trends and factors for a specific technology.

[MWC 2023] Qualcomm enhances IoT with iSIM, partnerships to leverage Snapdragon Spaces and Qualcomm Aware

Qualcomm continues to drive innovation for IoT at MWC 2023, with a host of announcements for both their hardware and software platforms.

iSIM announced for Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platforms

image 4
A huge step for IoT devices with iSIM available on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

The highlight of these announcements is the unveiling of Integrated SIM (iSIM) for their flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform. The iSIM is a highly desirable form factor for developers as it allows space saving in design, be it smartphones or even wearables, while also reducing supply chain costs. The iSIM saves space by eliminating the need for a separate component while also requiring significantly less power than eSIMs. Both of these traits are cornerstones for developing IoT devices.

Collaborating with French developer Thales, Qualcomm has also confirmed GSMA’s (Global Association for the Mobile Communications Industry) security certification for what would be the world’s first commercially deployable iSIM. This assures best-in-class security level while also being compliant with the GSMA Remote SIM Provisioning standard that Thales eSIM already offers. This form factor also complements existing SIM and eSIM designs, and research by Kaleido Intelligence suggests the market share to grow to 300 million by 2027.

Snapdragon Spaces to kick start AR experiences with global partners

image 3
7 global operators will leverage Snapdragon Spaces for new and exciting AR experiences.

Qualcomm has also furthered their commitment towards Extended Reality (XR) with plans to leverage Snapdragon Spaces with 7 leading global operators. These include a multi-year collaboration with Japan’s KDDI corporation focused on the expansion of XR use cases and creation of a developer program. The Snapdragon Space XR Developer Platform is a cross-device, open-ecosystem that provides developers with the tools to pioneer Augmented Reality (AR) experiences, with a focus on headworn AR devices. Just recently, Xiaomi has set things in motion with the recently announced Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses Discovery Edition, powered by the Snapdragon XR2 Platform. Oppo too has confirmed a new mixed reality (MR) device, the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device to be approved as Snapdragon Spaces Ready.

Scaling digital transformation with Qualcomm Aware Platform

Qualcomm has also unveiled their Qualcomm Aware Platform, which aims to provide the resources necessary to simplify and scale digital transformation. These include a combination of industry-leading cloud and edge technologies, API-first architecture and developer-friendly tools.

image 2
Scaling digital transformation through the Qualcomm Aware platform

Qualcomm already offers industry-leading IoT modem chipsets, including the recently announced Qualcomm 216 IoT LTE Modem capable of speeds of up to 10 Mbps at ultra-low power. With the recent acquisitions of Skyhook Wireless, Inc. and the assets of PoLTE Corporation, new proprietary positioning techniques and a now global signal database allows Qualcomm Aware to deliver intelligent and ubiquitous location capabilities in an always-on, low-power manner.

Having the best silicon and global connectivity is not enough to guarantee IoT deployment success, so Qualcomm has worked hard to address a key challenge in this area; ecosystem fragmentation. Qualcomm Aware brings together an ecosystem of hardware and software partners to develop solutions for varied yet specific business needs. This has culminated with Qualcomm Aware Blueprints, which enable enterprises to quickly and efficiently roll-out pre-designed solutions, tailored to requirements.

image 5
A growing list of Qualcomm Aware Supporting Partners

With efficiency in mind, Qualcomm Aware also offers a highly customizable framework and implements standard APIs that interoperate seamlessly with private clouds, industry-specific application platforms, enterprise tools and softwares. These include enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management, inventory management and many more. One of the key integrations will be with Microsoft Dynamics 365, a major cloud-based business application that combines components of both ERP and customer relationship management (CRM) with additional AI tools and productivity applications.

5G 3 years = 4G 5 years, Operators Have Achieved Success after the 1st Round of 5G Deployment

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 28, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Huawei has convened the 5G Business Success Summit at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). Peng Song, President of Huawei’s ICT Strategy & Marketing, delivered a keynote speech titled “Diverse Paths to 5G Monetization, Accelerating 5G Business Success”. In his speech, he noted that the achievements made by 5G in its first three years are equivalent to those that 4G made in its first five years, and that leading operators are already celebrating the success of the first round of 5G development, which has instilled a sense of certainty and confidence in the industry. 5G will thus sustain this success if its value can be further unleashed in ToC, ToH, and ToB sectors.

During his speech, Mr. Peng noted that the global user penetration rate of 5G in its first three years amounts to that of 4G in its first five years. Operators reporting over 20% 5G user penetration during the first round of deployment have seen significant growth in mobile revenue. In the meantime, devices, content, experience, and business models are diversifying as more operators and partners embrace 5G. This is evidence of a market shift from risk-based to revenue-based decision-making for even more assurance of business success. Huawei found that fast migration of 5G users and traffic is the key: if an operator migrated 30% of traffic to 5G eMBB in three years, it would take less than four years to see ROI. This duration would be even shorter if the operator also deployed FWA and ToB services.

ToC: Differentiating Experience Is A New Paradigm of Network Monetization

5G networks use powerful capabilities to provide differentiated experience for different users. For example, operators can provide guaranteed downlink bit rates for VIP users and a good experience for uplink services. Operators in China have already begun to explore this new paradigm.

ToH: 5G FWA Is a Real Quick-Win Home Broadband Service with Fiber-Like Experience

By the end of 2022, 95 operators had commercially launched 5G FWA services for more than 10 million home users. With its fast deployment, good experience, low cost, and high energy efficiency, 5G FWA sunsets old copper lines in developed markets and enables home broadband access in emerging markets. Operators in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa have reported outstanding results.

ToB: 5G Private Networks Are Key to Exploring the Enterprise Digital Blue Ocean

Mr. Peng believes that operators can set up extensive service connections with enterprises through 5G private networks, creating a market space for enterprise digital transformation that is three to ten times larger than the market for private networks themselves. This will also drive the sales of cloud, data center, F5G, and other value-added services. The current 5G ToB private network market outside China is developing rapidly. In 2022 alone, the total number of networks built doubled. This future potential is even bigger.

Mr. Peng concluded his speech by adding that 5G is not just about economic value to operators, but also huge social value. Huawei calls on global operators and industry partners to join its GUIDE business blueprint and further unleash the potential of 5G networks from “5Good to 5Great”.

Data support: According to the latest GSMA and GSA statistics, by December 2022, more than 240 5G networks had been put into commercial use worldwide, over 1,700 different types of 5G terminals had been released, and the number of 5G users had exceeded 1 billion. In addition, the ARPU of the world’s top 20 operators had increased by 10%, which is 1% higher than the global baseline.

MWC Barcelona 2023 runs from February 27 to March 2 in Barcelona, Spain. Huawei showcases its products and solutions at stand 1H50 in Fira Gran Via Hall 1. Together with global operators, industry professionals, and opinion leaders, we dive into topics such as 5G business success, 5.5G opportunities, green development, digital transformation, and our vision of using the GUIDE business blueprint to lay the foundation for 5.5G and build on the success of 5G for even greater prosperity.
