Home Monitoring feature provides safety care for the loved ones

AiDot Home monitoring feature empowers users‘ security camera not only to catch the suspicious, but also to keep them away from their loved ones without worry. For this function, users can set a real-time detection in their chosen area to identify their family member’s activities, especially babies. Pools, play sets, trampolines etc., all those activities are great for kids, but most of them will be dangerous without supervision. If no one is detected for a while, a push rich message with photos will be sent to users’ phone, reminding them to check the situation at home. In this way, users can know the situation of elder parents or kids when they’re home and deal with it in time.

Pet Sitting feature for better companionship and observation of the pet’s habits

Users may find something wrong with their furry kids but can’t figure out why, now they can understand them more and reduce their separation anxiety in time. The pet sitting feature of AiDot provides real-time monitoring and a deeper understanding of pets by data analysis. With monitoring and statistics, users can have a better understanding of pet’s diet and activity habits. Knowing the times their pet enters the setting area is the best way to achieve that.

For example: When the pet is home alone, users can find out if its daily diet is normal by checking how many times it goes to the dining area. When users notice the difference in daily eating habits, they should pay attention to its health. If there are some areas in home that users do not want pets to enter, they can set these areas as no-entry areas and observe.

AiDot Smart home strive on family companionship and care. Help users have a better home through intelligent analysis. Home monitoring and Pet sitting feature are Cloud service of AiDot App, users can find it when using AiDot App or visiting aidot.com.

Clarivate Launches New Global Research Report Urging Action on Ocean Science

Research must rise to meet challenges such as microplastics pollution and climate change

LONDON, July 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Clarivate Plc (NYSE:CLVT), a global leader in providing trusted information and insights to accelerate the pace of innovation, today launched a new Global Research Report from the Institute for Scientific Information™ analyzing ocean science research over the last two decades. The report concludes that research must rise to meet the challenges facing the marine environment such as microplastic pollution and climate change.

Ocean science: sustainability concerns add urgency for research observes that ocean science research output has increased threefold from 2000 to 2020. The Institute for Scientific Information identifies existing and emerging research fields, across all ocean basins, as well as the current collaboration pathways. The study examines gaps and trends in international ocean science collaborations. This information is essential for the effective growth of the ocean science community and ultimately the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life below water.

In the Web of Science Core Collection™, for publication years 2000 to 2020, about 150,000 items were assigned to the Web of Science category Oceanography. However, as much research related to ocean science is published in journals assigned to other Web of Science categories or in multidisciplinary journals, the report uses a hybrid approach to analyze bibliometric data across a range of sources, evaluating ocean science research published between 2000 and 2020.

Key findings of the report include:

  • There has been an astonishing growth of microplastics research, an upsurge in output reminiscent of the excitement and activity of high-temperature superconductivity in the late 1980s, or CRISPR (i.e., gene editing) during the last decade. This growth, pronounced since 2015, may be related to the introduction of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. Growth in other Citation Topics such as Climate Change may also be associated with the targets of SDGs.
  • The U.S. share of ocean basins research is in line with its overall world share. However, its dominance in the early 21st century – as well as the contributions of other G7 members – has been eroded by a rapid rise in research output from Mainland China.
  • Ocean research is globally connected and, crucially, also includes significant collaboration with island nations and territories at the literal forefront of ocean science (e.g., New Caledonia, Bermuda). However, sub-Saharan contributions, apart from those of South Africa, are minimal. External partnerships are likely required to build or operate the necessary infrastructure for ocean science research. Achieving the SDGs may drive such partnerships.
  • Institutional output in all ocean basins is led by national academies (e.g., Russian, Chinese) or research institutes (e.g., U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration [NOAA], British Antarctic Survey), illustrating the highly specialized nature of ocean science and likely reflecting its infrastructure-reliant nature.

Dr. Gali Halevi, Director at the Institute for Scientific Information at Clarivate, said: “At Clarivate we help our customers address some of the world’s most complex challenges. With the fate of the Earth tied so inextricably to the oceans, and given the toll that humans have exacted on the marine environment within a relative handful of decades, the need for detailed scientific scrutiny of our ocean basins has never been more acute. Research must rise to meet the challenges presented by, for example, microplastic pollution and whatever natural or human-made environmental crises might still await. Only with concerted, global commitment will the UN SDGs for the future – oceans that are clean, resilient, predictable, sustainable, not to mention sustaining – stand a chance of accomplishment.”

Former Australian Prime Minister and Former Alcoa COO Join GlassPoint’s Advisory Board

New advisory board members will help solar steam leader meet the soaring demand for industrial decarbonization

NEW YORK, July 21, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Today, GlassPoint, the leader in decarbonizing the production of materials essential to the energy transition, announced that the 29th Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, and the former COO of Alcoa, Tomas Sigurdsson, have joined its Advisory Board. The new Advisory Board members bring a unique mix of global leadership advancing sustainability in industrial operations. They will play a key role in helping GlassPoint bring its category-defining solar steam solution to help a wide range of industries essential to the energy transition achieve net-zero commitments, with a focus on mining, metals and manufacturing.

Malcolm Turnbull is a former Prime Minister of Australia and a notable advocate for clean energy. Before his term as the 29th Prime Minister of Australia, he held a number of parliamentary positions, including Minister for Environment and Water Resources. Before entering parliament in 2004, Mr. Turnbull was a successful trial lawyer and investment banker, where he led his own investment firm and served as a partner of Goldman Sachs.

Tomas Sigurdsson is CEO of HS Orka, Iceland’s leading private renewable energy company. He was formerly COO and executive vice president of Alcoa, the leading producer of aluminum, alumina and bauxite. He was responsible for the daily operations of global assets of the Company’s bauxite, alumina, energy and aluminum segments across geographies. He previously served as president of Alcoa EU and ME.

“Leaders of Malcolm and Tomas’ caliber joining our Advisory Board signifies a massive vote of confidence for GlassPoint,” said Rod MacGregor, CEO and founder of GlassPoint. “Their expertise and deep understanding of industrial market dynamics and clean energy will be invaluable in serving our mission of decarbonizing process heat at scale. I look forward to working with them to meet soaring demand for a proven solution that helps companies achieve net-zero commitments.”

The new advisors join GlassPoint at a time when hard-to-abate industries, like mining and metals, are increasingly seeking ways to cost-effectively reduce carbon emissions and meet net-zero commitments with rapidly approaching deadlines. A recent survey found that one fifth (21%) of the world’s 2,000 largest public companies have committed to meeting net-zero targets. These companies together represent sales of nearly $14 trillion.

“The world can’t meet its net-zero pledges unless industrial players make enormous leaps in decarbonizing operations,” said Turnbull. “Consider that it’s common for large industrial plants to require more energy than many cities, much of which goes to thermal processes. Solutions like GlassPoint, which help hard-to-abate industries reduce emissions up to 80% and are available today, will play a major role in combating climate change.”

“Decarbonizing industrial processes is incredibly challenging and therefore presents an enormous market opportunity,” added Sigurdsson. “GlassPoint is the only proven solution to decarbonize industrial process heat at scale and represents a critical solution for industrial leaders in a range of markets.”

This news comes on the heels of GlassPoint signing a Memorandum of Understanding with  Saudi Arabian Mining Company (MA’ADEN) to develop the world’s largest solar process heat plant at MA’ADEN’s Alumina refinery, a 1.5GWth facility in Ras al Khair, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

About GlassPoint
GlassPoint decarbonizes the production of materials essential to the energy transition and makes a substantial impact combating climate change. The company builds, owns and operates large-scale solar steam facilities to reduce carbon emissions in hard-to-abate industries such as mining and metals, chemicals, construction materials, desalination and more. GlassPoint is the only solution proven at scale to reduce carbon emissions from industrial process heat and has built more than half of the solar steam capacity in the world. CNN’s ‘Going Green’ meets the next generation of environmentalists leading the charge against climate change

Special coverage airs July 18-22, with a 30-minute program airing July 23

HONG KONG, July 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Protecting our planet often means starting small – but every action has the potential to spark a global transformation. On the upcoming episode of ‘Going Green’, CNN meets the next generation of young environmentalists who are sprinting into action and bringing their innovations to life to protect every corner of the earth.

CNN’s ‘Going Green’ meets the next generation of environmentalists leading the charge against climate change
CNN’s ‘Going Green’ meets the next generation of environmentalists leading the charge against climate change

CNN hears from Melati Wijsen from Bali, Indonesia, who started a youth campaign to make the island plastic bag free when she was just 12 years old. After several years, and a conversation with the governor, she succeeded – and a law was passed banning single use plastics. Now, Wijsen has launched YOUTHTOPIA, a platform where young people can learn from each other about how to create change. YOUTHTOPIA now runs 150 free youth workshops and programs for young changemakers focusing on tackling the climate crisis through education.

We also meet Fionn Ferreira, a 21-year-old student from Ireland on a mission to remove microplastics from our oceans. Ferreira is building an ingenious way to collect these particles by using a magnetic mixture to extract plastics from liquid. He won the Google Science Fair in 2019 with his invention, as well as a financial boost to jumpstart a pilot program in a wastewater facility in Ohio. Since then, Ferreira’s work has taken him all the way to the Arctic to continue his research, and most recently to the World Economic Forum where he helped bring together young changemakers to share their perspectives on the global agenda.

The programme then travels to Nairobi, Kenya, to meet a teenager hoping to use football to inspire young people to create a greener environment. Lesein Mutunkei is the founder of Trees 4 Goals, an initiative which began when Mutunkei decided he would mark every goal he scored playing football by planting a tree. What began as a solo endeavour has kicked off across Kenya – bringing a culture of conservation to a wider team of players. Mutunkei also sows with intent: he only plants indigenous trees to maintain ecosystem balance, and has been working with a team of other young environmentalists to help revive the country’s forests.

It’s then off to the Amazon rainforest to hear from Helena Gualinga, an Indigenous rights and climate justice advocate who hails from the Sarayaku community in Ecuador. For decades Amazonian women in Ecuador have been empowered and outspoken about protecting the rainforest. Gualinga is amplifying that message and spreading her tribe’s worldview at climate change conferences across the globe, giving first-hand accounts of life in the Amazon and the impact that deforestation is having on the rainforest.

CNN also travels to the land of the First Nations in Canada to meet Autumn Peltier, an Indigenous rights and water activist. Peltier shares how she became interested in water protection after a trip to a nearby Indigenous community whose water sources were polluted, making the tap water undrinkable. She has spent the past eight years speaking out about the importance of clean water to international organizations like the UN and the World Economic Forum. Peltier also explains why she believes the fight for clean water is in the hands of young people.

Deep Isolation: Solving Nuclear Waste Removes Barrier to Nuclear Energy

SEOUL, South Korea, July 16, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Countries worldwide are reconsidering nuclear energy to achieve energy security, meet increasing electricity demands and fight climate change.

As the International Energy Agency says, reaching net zero will require nuclear capacity to double by 2050. At least 30 countries are considering, planning or starting nuclear power programs, according to the World Nuclear Association, and advanced nuclear developers are attracting significant investment dollars.

But without a permanent waste solution can nuclear truly be considered clean? The world has not yet disposed of a quarter million metric tons of spent fuel over the last 70 years, and building deep geologic mined repositories is not affordable or scalable for many countries.

This presents a significant barrier to nuclear energy. A poll by Reuters/Ipsos found that of those opposed to nuclear energy in America, 64 percent of them are concerned about the waste.

The European Union’s recently approved taxonomy amendment says nuclear power plants won’t qualify as green investments unless developers have a spent fuel disposal plan in place by 2050, so it’s imperative that countries be given new waste solutions.

The co-founders of Deep Isolation, the first company to commercialize deep borehole disposal of nuclear waste, will discuss their technology and business model at a panel on Spent Nuclear Fuel and High-Level Wastes at this week’s 13th Asian Leadership Conference in Seoul.

“Nuclear waste threatens the success of nuclear energy, but there are solutions,” said Deep Isolation CEO and co-founder Liz Muller, who will be presenting Wednesday with Richard Muller, Chief Science Officer and co-founder. “Deep borehole repositories can be located at a power plant site, eliminating the need to transport waste to a large centralized mined repository, which unfairly burdens that one community. Boreholes are more cost-effective in many cases and can be built in a matter of years, not decades.”

This scalable, modular, and economical disposal solution is appealing to countries with smaller waste inventories or waste products unsuitable for a mined facility.

The company’s business model offers commercial and government partners a range of flexible IP licensing options, including training and support and supply chain services for its planning and operational processes and solution technology.

NaaS Technology and Jingcheng Leasing Jointly Developing a New Charging Infrastructure Ecosystem

The strategic cooperation will provide one-stop financial solutions for the construction of charging stations

BEIJING, July 11, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — NaaS Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: NAAS, “NaaS” or “the Company”) announced that the Company has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Beijing Jingcheng International Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (“Jingcheng Leasing”), whereby the two parties will collaborate on the development and implementation of technology and financing services for electric vehicle (“EV”) charging facilities. The strategic cooperation will draw from the strengths of both parties in terms of their respective resources and business advantages, and facilitate the development of new charging infrastructure through the combination of industry expertise and financial expertise.

“The strategic cooperation between NaaS and Jingcheng Leasing will efficiently connect charging station operators’ strong demand for financing services, to the relevant financial services, and, by doing so, further strengthen the integration and utilization of industry resources,” said Xiang Yu, Vice President of Operations, NaaS. “The tie-up will allow NaaS Technology to serve as a ‘connector’ for the industry. The two parties will make their financial services solution for the EV supply chain available throughout China, solving a challenge facing various parties in the industry value chain, while serving to power the ecosystem with financial services. Both parties look forward to collaborating to build and strengthen China’s EV sector.”

The partnership integrates the digital capabilities of NaaS along with Jingcheng Leasing’s financial services to provide operators with one-stop financing solutions, enabling operators to be able to lease the charging pile equipment at the beginning of the construction cycle and opt to pay back the borrowed funds through installments.

By providing this option, operators can proceed with the construction of charging stations and develop a roadmap whereby the construction of the stations is continuous and uninterrupted, ultimately resulting in the build out of fully-functional urban charging networks. In addition, the partnership will also facilitate the sales of charging pile equipment, improve profitability, leading to the development of a virtuous cycle for the industry.

Jingcheng Leasing, is a subsidiary of Beijing Jingcheng Machinery Electric Holding Co., Ltd., and is focused on serving the development of the real economy through Jingcheng Leasing’s abundant funding and diversified product portfolio. Jingcheng Leasing provides high-quality financial leasing products and financial solutions primarily to manufacturers of power generation equipment, environmental protection equipment, CNC machine tools, high-pressure vessels, printing machinery, additive manufacturing and industrial robots.

“NaaS serves many charging pile manufacturers, charging station operators, OEMs and vehicle owners. The cooperation with NaaS enables us to bring financial leasing services to the booming EV charging market and allows us to vastly expand our customer base,” said Jianfeng Jing, General Manager of Jingcheng Leasing. “Jingcheng Leasing looks forward to our successful cooperation, where together we will serve customers through the power of technology and finance, and facilitate the healthy development of the EV charging industry, and in the process, contribute to the development of China’s renewable energy sector, helping towards achieving the country’s dual-carbon goals.”

With the rising popularity of EVs, the market for the construction of charging infrastructure is expanding. In 2020, the construction of charging piles was included in the <<government work report>> for the first time as one of seven new infrastructure projects. State-owned financial services company Guosen Securities predicted that in the next ten years, there will be a need for some 63 million charging piles across China, creating an infrastructure construction market with a value estimated at 1.02 trillion yuan (approx. US$152 billion). Such a market will also create parallel demand for related financing services. In the actual construction of such stations, some small- and medium-sized operators or state-owned enterprises may find themselves unable to complete the construction of their stations due to insufficient funds or poor fund allocation, thereby creating the need for financial solutions.

About NaaS Technology Inc.

NaaS Technology Inc. is one of the largest and fastest growing EV charging service providers in China. The firm is a subsidiary of NewLink, a leading energy digitalization group in China. NaaS provides one-stop services to charging pile manufacturers and operators, OEMs, companies with their own delivery fleets as well as fleet operators, with online, offline, and non-electric services covering the whole value chain across the EV sector. As of 2021, NaaS had connected 290,000 charging piles, with an annual charging capacity of over 1,200 Gigawatt hours, accounting for about 18% of China’s public charging market and eliminating 900,000 tons of carbon emissions annually. On June 13, 2022, NaaS Technology Inc. was officially listed on NASDAQ under the stock code NAAS.

“We are delighted to be here at the Goodwood Electric Avenue together with other established automotive brands, shaping and accelerating the future of electro mobility. This perfectly resonates with our vision at e.GO to offer our customers fun without regret”, says Ali Vezvaei, Chairman of the Board of Next.e.GO Mobile SE.

The e.GO Sports Life takes the driving performance to another level. In tight bends it feels like driving a much larger performance vehicle with increasing G-force: fast, sportive and comfortable at the same time. With larger wheels, a wider track and a lower centre of gravity the Life Sport takes great advantage of its rear-wheel drive and high torque powertrain. The design lines have been further intensified to underline its dynamic and powerful appearance by improving the aerodynamics at the same time.

The Electric Avenue of the Goodwood Festival of Speed offers visitors the opportunity to experience the sports version of e.GO and to reserve directly the newly launched e.wave X.
