Lenovo Releases the Latest Yoga 9i in Malaysia at MYR 7,299

We have just reviewed Lenovo’s creator powerhouse Yoga last week. The Yoga series is all about flexibility and portability. They are also usually about looks, which is not entirely what the Yoga we reviewed was all about. In that case, if unique looks is what you look for in a laptop, you might want to take a look at Lenovo’s latest addition to their line-up in the Yoga series for Malaysia, the Lenovo Yoga 9i.

You get a 14-inch OLED display that you can swivel around to turn it into a tablet. You can stand it like a tent too, and use it with a stylus. Below the IPS display is a Bowers & Wilkins soundbar that is built into the hinge mechanism, which also means it rotates with you to give you the best aural experience wherever the display faces.

The OLED panel boasts 2.8K in resolution with slim bezels. That also means you get very deep blacks with VESA DisplayHDR 5000 True Black. You also get highly accurate and vivid colours with 100% of DCI-P3 colour gamut. While not 120Hz, the 90Hz display is still plenty fast for everyday use cases or even movies.

The 90Hz display is plenty enough for the Yoga 9i though, since it is not made with gaming in mind. The Lenovo Yoga 9i packs Intel’s latest 13^th generation Core i7-1360P processor. There is no discrete GPU here though, just a simple integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, hence you do not need 120Hz in the first place. Alongside the powerful CPU with integrated GPU is up to 16GB in DDR5 memory for seamless productivity with the machine. You also get up to 1TB of SSD storage for all your working needs.

Of course, the Lenovo Yoga 9i runs on Windows 11. It supports Windows Hello facial recognition too with a Full HD webcam paired with an IR blaster and ToF sensor. When you do not want to use your webcam, there is a physical privacy shutter too. Alternatively, you can use the fingerprint sensor for Windows Hello.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i will start at MYR 7,299 and is now available in Malaysia. You can head over to any of their exclusive stores to get your hands on one. [CES 2023] LG Introduces More gram for the Masses

LG introduced their gram a few years ago. They were introduced to the world as the world’s lightest and probably thinnest laptops you can find. The LG gram laptops are no slouches though, they were premium powerhouses that are made to be worked on from anywhere at any time.

LG announced and introduced a bunch of things in CES 2023. They announced new TVs and sound bars for 2023 with updated WebOS and hardware for better pictures and sounds. They also introduced a few new home appliances with smart home capabilities. But these are not the only things they launched in CES 2023.

Welcome to the new LG gram line-up. LG gram is currently the only laptop line-up from LG other than their UltraGear laptops launched last year. Again, LG’s gram is built for a different specific purpose.

LG gram Ultraslim

The new LG gram Ultraslim is the new thinnest laptop from LG’s stables. At 10.99mm, the LG gram is not going to break records as the thinnest laptop in the world. It is still thinner than most laptops too. It also only weighs just below 1kg at just 998g. It is built tough too with MIL-810H standards.

That does not mean that LG skimmed on performance though. The LG gram will still be packing Intel’s latest 13^th generation Core processor. Of course, there is not much in terms of space so there is no discreet GPU here. You get Intel’s Xe graphics though, a proven platform even when you need to it for content creation purposes.

The Ultraslim 15Z90RT also packs a stunning 15.6-inch OLED display with a coating that minimizes glare and reflections. You get Full HD in resolution and up to 400nits in brightness that might come in handy when you are working in a well-lit environment. You can choose to fit your LG gram Ultraslim with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB in SSD storage. LG did not quote any battery life numbers but they did reveal that there is a 60Wh battery packed within the svelte body.

They did not just launch the thinnest LG gram just yet. They also launched a line-up of laptops that are geared for those who wants something with a unique twist. It comes in two sizes too (16-inch and 14-inch), so there is an ideal size for everyone.

The LG gram Style in both sizes will come packing 16:10 OLED displays with up to WQXGA+ resolution (3,200 x 2,000) for the best working experience you can get in a thin-and-light laptop. You also get up to 120Hz in refresh rate for the best viewing experience you can get in a modern laptop of its class.

Of course, the Windows 11 you see on the brilliant display is powered by Intel’s 13^th generation Core processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics. Alongside the processor is up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM for maximum speed and optimized productivity no matter what you need the laptop to do. The 16-inch variant comes with 80Wh battery pack while the 14-inch comes with 72Wh battery that offers long-lasting battery life for remote working situations. All of these is packed into a body built at MIL-810H standards and weighs only 1,230g (999g for 14-inch).

They also introduced 17-inch, 16-inch, 15-inch, and 14-inch laptops embracing the regular gram branding. These ones comes with discrete GPUS (17-inch and 16-inch). You can opt for an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 entry level laptop GPU which should allow you to enjoy most esports titles today. Of course, you also get Intel’s 13^th generation Core processors.

The displays are not OLED panels, but they will still offer top-notch colour and image experience with IPS panels projecting up to WQXGA resolutions at 16:10 aspect ratio. The IPS panel also offers variable refresh rate at up to 144Hz to extend battery life and to optimize viewing experience for users. For entertainment purposes, the speakers are Dolby Atmos certified for some immersive experience for your movies and music. You also get to enjoy your movies and music for up to 20 hours at a time with up to 90Wh on tap on your laptop.

Availability

LG did not mention when the LG gram line-ups will be available just yet. There are no mentions on its price as well currently. We are guessing that the new LG gram laptops will be available sometime between next month and July 2023. All LG’s latest gram line-up comes with Full HD webcam with IR blaster for Window Hello facial recognition function. The LG gram 2-in-1 line-up will also come with updated internals for 2023.

Dell Announces the XPS 13 2-in-1 – It is as Flexible as it Gets

Dell’s XPS series of thin-and-light devices are quite legendary in its own market segment. The XPS series is known for their superb build quality with all-metal construction with an ultra-thin design like no other. They are not known to be the lightest devices in the market, but the all-metal body does add to some weight. It is not just premium build though, the XPS series also sets themselves apart to be a sort of benchmark in the world of thin-and-light PCs.

Dell just announced their latest XPS device, the XPS 13 2-in-1. Yes, it bears the same name as the XPS 13 2-in-1 from 2021 as well. It is a follow up model, in all fairness. It is a Microsoft Surface like tablet/PC.

Of course, as an updated model, it bears Intel’s 12^th generation Core processors. You can spec it up with up to a Core i7-1250U that comes with two performance cores and eight efficiency cores totaling up to ten cores within the chip. That processor is also paired with up to 16GB in LPDDR4x (on board) RAM to ensure that multitasking is smooth and snappy. There are no discrete GPU to be found here, just a humble but still powerful Intel Iris Xe Graphics keeping everything that has to do with graphics processing in check.

The powerful chipset allows Dell to include a 13-inch 3K display with 3:2 aspect ratio. Of course, because your primary interaction with the device would be through touch, it is a touch sensitive display. The display also pushes DisplayHDR 400 at 500 nits’ peak brightness. It boasts up to 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage and up to 1800:1 contrast ratio. The Gorilla Glass Victus protected display should be more than enough for you to be immersed in your movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with Dolby Vision support.

To ensure that you have all the storage you need for work and play (not many games, we would assume), you get up to 1TB in SSD storage. To keep you entertained and your movies immersive, you get Waves MaxxAudio Pro and Waves Nx 3D audio tuning on your speakers. Of course, because this is a device for productivity, it packs two microphone arrays to ensure that your voice is crystal clear in video and tele conferences. On top of that, you get a Full HD 1080p front facing camera that is capable of taking 5-Megapixel photos. At the back is a 11-Megapixel camera that is capable of taking up to 4K resolution videos.

When you are in a call, you want a stable and fast network. Intel’s Killer WiFi with WiFi 6E support should ensure that your internet connection is ever stable for those long online conferences. If you prefer to use Wireless headphones, there is Bluetooth 5.2 connection available too.

While it is sort of a tablet, it is still a versatile PC too. It has two Thunderbolt 4 enabled USB Type-C ports that also supports display output and power delivery. Included in the box is a USB Type-C to USB Type-A adapter, if you need to plug your external storage in. There is also a USB Type-C to 3.5mm AUX adapter, if you want to plug your headphones in. Within the device is a large 49.5WHs battery to ensure that you can work from anywhere through the day.

The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 will be available in Malaysia within the month (August onward). The variant that will be available to Malaysians comes with Intel’s 12^th generation Core i5-1230U, 8GB of RAM, 256GB in SSD and Intel’s Iris Xe Graphics. It will set you back MYR 5,999.
