The OPPO Reno6 Series Lands in Malaysia

OPPO renewed its Reno series today with the release of two new entries into the lineup: the OPPO Reno6 5G and Reno6 Z 5G. The two new phones bring a renewed focus on OPPO’s camera technologies and the company’s prowess in creating smartphones with long-lasting battery life.

The new OPPO Reno6 series will be running on MediaTek’s Dimensity processors. The Reno6 5G will be running on the new MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC (System on a Chip) while the Reno6 Z will be running on MediaTek’s 800U 5G SoC. Both are octa-core processors which are capable of processing data at speeds of up to 2.4GHz. Of course, the Dimensity 900 is slightly more capable with larger, more efficient cores. Both of the smartphones also come with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display. The Reno6 5G has the additional benefit of a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate.

Keeping Smartphone Photography in Focus

OPPO’s Reno series has carved a name for itself when it comes to cameras. The Reno6 series aims to continue that tradition. The two models come with similar setups; the Reno6 5G comes with a triple sensor setup. It has a 64-megapixel main camera sensor which is paired with an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. These are complemented with a colour temperature sensor for better colour accuracy. The Reno6 Z, on the other hand, comes with the same but lacks the colour temperature sensor. Both have a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

OPPO is touting even better portrait pictures thanks to enhanced technology in the Reno6 series. The new smartphones come with new Focus tracking which has never been done in an OPPO smartphone to date. The feature will enable users to identify and track subjects to keep them in focus. The feature also helps with stabilization to keep the video perfectly steady.

The Reno6 series is also pushing portrait photography when it comes to smartphones. The new entries will be able to take Portrait Beautification in videos which will blur the background slightly while keeping your subject in focus. The technology is driven by AI-enabled algorithms which track 193 different facial points in video mode. Together with this portrait photography on the Reno6 is enhanced with Bokeh Flare Portrait which will allow users to capture pictures with light effects – similar to those from professional cameras.

Powered for All Day Performance

Together with the camera technology and cutting edge processors, the Reno6 series is also expanding on OPPO’s RAM Expansion technology. The technology, which first debuted on the Find X series, allows the smartphone to extend its built-in 8GB of RAM with up to 5GB of additional RAM from the internal storage. This allows the phone to dynamically adapt to the needs of its users while maintaining a smooth User experience.

The Reno6 5G is powered by a 4,300mAh battery with support for 65W SuperVOOC 2.0. This charging technology allows the phone to get to 100% with just 28 minutes of charge. The Reno6 Z, however, comes with a slightly larger 4,310mAH battery with support for 30W SuperVOOC Flash Charge 4.0 which allows it to be charged in 49 minutes.

Pricing & Availability

The OPPO Reno6 5G and Reno6 Z 5G will be available starting 14th August 2021. The Reno 6 5G will be priced at MYR2,399 while the Reno6 Z will be priced at MYR1,699. They will be available in Stellar Black and Aurora.

Acer Day Brings new Gaming Powerhouse in the Predator Orion 3000

Acer just had their annual Acer Day festival (we do not know really know what to call it really; a celebration?) last week and like every other year, Acer Day comes with plenty of promotions and sales and a few new products. This year, we see new gaming hardware that you might want to get your hands on. If you are looking for a gaming desktop, you might not want to look elsewhere at this time.

It is called the Predator Orion 3000, and it is the brand’s mid-tower rig that should give you the best balance between budget and gaming performance. It starts at MYR 3,999 and comes with Intel’s latest 11th Generation Tiger Lake CPU alongside NVIDIA’s latest GeForce RTX GPU. Unlike plenty of the pre-built PCs that you can find in the market as well, this one is actually something you can tinker with yourself and eventually upgrade on your own. Not to mention, the Acer Predator desktop towers are currently the only way for you to get your hands on their own engineered Predator FrostBlade cooling fans.

At the more budget friendly range of MYR 3,899, you are getting Intel’s 11th generation Core i5-11400F CPU. That CPU Is also paired with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super GPU for good measure. With up to 8GB of RAM shipping with the tower, you will be able to easily handle games like DOTA 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) at Full HD.

Source: Acer

You can spec your Orion 3000 up to an 11th generation Intel Core i7-11700F paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 for MYR 6,899 though. While that is nearly MYR 3,000 more than the entry-level variant Orion 3000, you are getting a substantially more powerful hardware in the tower. You are still getting the same 8GB RAM though from the Orion 3000. You can upgrade it to up to 64GB (16GB x 4) if you want.

Alongside the powerful CPU and GPU you can are getting either a 512GB or 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD. Obviously, this being a tower PC you get to expand that with additional SATA drives. Of course, you might want to ensure you have enough juice to get everything up to speed though. The Predator Orion 3000 comes with a 500W 80Plus Gold ATX power supply, which should be enough to power the Intel Core i7-11700F and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 combination. You also get Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi 802..11ax/ac/a/b/g/n capabilities built into the tower, so you do not have to get an external adapter that might spoil the look of your PC.

As we mentioned, unlike plenty of pre-built PCs, the Predator Orion 3000 does not come in an out-of-this-world, unconventional chassis. While it is still a custom chassis that includes a headphone hanger integrated into the front panel, the internal layout is very traditional. That also means user expandability with the Orion 3000 is amazing. There is no custom layout to deal with, every part within the chassis is interchangeable.

With the Predator Orion 3000, you can even plonk in an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, for example, to replace the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 that is already in the graphics driving seat. Of course, you would need to up the ante a little on the power supply side and be prepared to pay more when it comes to your monthly electricity bill. You could also plonk in an 11th Generation Intel Core i9-11900K as well, if you really want, or just replace the stock cooler with a more powerful third-party one, just to improve cooling. You can even remove the motherboard easily to completely turn this machine around. Just keep in mind that you are going to be building a PC in a relatively small space with the Orion3000. As mentioned as well, you get the cooling power from the Acer engineered FrostBlade.

The Predator Orion 3000 is now available on Acer’s own online store and official online stores on both Shopee and Lazada. Prices, as mentioned, starts MYR 3,999 (Core i5 + GTX 1660 Super) and MYR 6,899 (Core i7 + RTX 3070). Considering the current market, the Orion 3000 is priced very competitively. As usual with a Predator product, you do not get to choose its colours, although the FrostBlade fans packs addressable RGB alongside some RGB bars on the front of the chassis. For more information on the Acer Predator Orion 3000, you can visit Acer’s website.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Officially Available in Malaysia – Pre-Order Starts 8thAugust!

ASUS’ ultimate smartphone that is over-engineered for gaming, the ASUS ROG Phone 5 actually launched earlier in the year. The device specifically launched in Malaysia in the month of March 2021. If you consider the ROG Phone 5 selling first in the beginning of March 2021, that was six months ago. We understand your confusion in this case.

While the ROG Phone 5 series did launch in March 2021 (even we wrote about it), there is one device in the series that has not been really on sale. That device is the ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, the ultimate iteration of ASUS’ ROG mobile gaming powerhouse. For months as well, there were no mentions of the device ever coming to Malaysia to the point that some thought that it was only a myth.

We now can assure you that the ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is real and will be reaching your hands very soon in August 2021. Like the launch in March 2021, the ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate will also be an online exclusive. It might as well be with the current condition in Malaysia.

Source: ASUS

Before we go into the pre-order details though, we have to talk about the device just to remind ourselves what the ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is, and why you might want one still.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 series is known to push smartphone hardware to absolute limit on paper. While all of them comes with Qualcomm’s most powerful System on a Chip (SoC) to date; the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip, the most budget friendly variant of the device comes only with an 8GB RAM.

We say only, because one step up from that is a 16GB RAM option. 16GB RAM is a lot of memory for a smartphone, more than even Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra at its best. The Ultimate variant of the ASUS ROG Phone 5 comes with an even bigger memory module at 18GB. Why do you need 18GB of RAM for a smartphone? At this time, we do not know yet.

Its storage module is not as crazy though at 512GB in built-in storage for the Ultimate variant. The ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate also features something called ROG Vision, a customizable LED display embedded in the back plate of the device. As far as we can tell as well, everything else about the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is similar to the other devices in the range. They are still the most extreme on a modern smartphone though.

It has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with the highest possible colour accuracy in a smartphone display that boasts Full HD+ in resolution. While that may not sound like a lot, the display refreshes at up to 144Hz, comparable to modern PC gaming monitors today. It also samples at 300Hz for a super-fast 1ms response on the display itself for near instant interaction with the interface and games.

It is also one of the only flagship spec devices that comes with a super large battery. It packs a 6,000mAh battery pack. That is as large as a small to medium sized powerbank today and is nearly double what regular smartphones pack today. You can charge other flagship smartphones with this mobile ROG powerhouse.

You could not get the ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate anywhere though, when the other ROG Phone 5 devices launched. Even Malaysia’s website says that the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is “Coming Soon” at the time of writing. It will not be “Coming Soon” for much longer though.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate will finally be available to buy in Malaysia from the 8th of August 2021 onward. Well, the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate starts its pre-orders from that day all the way to the 21st of August 2021, to be specific. It will ship out toward the end of the month of August 2021 too. It will be priced at the anticipated price of MYR 4,999, which is no small amount of money for a smartphone that only comes in Matte White colour option.

Of course, you are not just buying the smartphone though, at that price. If you choose to wait this long and pre-order your ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, you are getting a treat from ASUS. You are eligible for an ROG Strix Go Core headphone in Moonlight White to match your ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate for free. You also get the Ultimate Fan Gift Box alongside your device. All in all, you are getting a total of MYR 1,099 worth of goods on top of your Ultimate gaming smartphone.

You can pre-order your ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate from ASUS’ official stores on Shopee and Lazada. Again, the device is exclusively available online at this time. As mentioned, the MYR 4,999 device will be available for pre-order from the 8th to 21st of August 2021. More information on the ASUS ROG Phone 5 is available from their website.

Google Confirms the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro: This is What Google’s Next Smartphone Looks Like

After endless leaks and rumours surrounding Google’s upcoming device, Google final confirmed that the device actually exists. The Google Pixel 6 series is now official with Google’s official Twitter account revealing a bunch of details and photos on the device. For the first time ever, the flagship will not have an XL variant. Instead, Google is going for the most conventional flagship naming of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

While Google has released a bunch of details on the device, there are still plenty of unknowns about the device at this time. For one, while Google revealed that there will be 3 cameras at the back of the new flagship, there are no mentions on their megapixel count. They revealed how the new devices would look too, including the available colour schemes that we would have to say looks great, at the same time revealing that there will be a telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom on the Pro variant.

The Pixel 6 series also marks Google’s entry into the silicon manufacturing industry with their Google Tensor chip that is going to power the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices. Of course, it is going to be a Material You Android 12 device that is completely vanilla. Other than being completely optimised for Material You, the Tensor System on a Chip (SoC) is also supposed to come with new security core and Titan M2 to make the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro one of the most secure Android smartphones you can find in the current market. As per Google as well, the Tensor chip is also supposed to improve Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities in Pixel devices. Alongside an improved computational photography model, the AI and ML should tremendously improve the camera experience.

Of course, the new Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro comes in large and larger screen sizes at 6.4-inch and 6.7-inch respectively. There are no mentions on what sort of display it will come with, but we suspect it could be OLED as per previous Pixel device. We are also expecting the displays to feature 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rates respectively.

There are no mentions as well on when Google will be releasing the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro into the market just yet. If rumours are right, you can expect to see devices landing in the hands of users toward the end of September or early October 2021. Holding pages for the Google Pixel 6 series are already live in eight regions: USA, Canada, Australioa, UK, France, Japan, and Taiwan. Malaysia does not officially have Google Store anyway, which also means the only way for you to own a Google Pixel is to source it from third party vendors at this time, and the same is expected for the Google Pixel 6. Curiously Singapore’s Google Store does not list the Google Pixel 6 series yet, leading us to believe that Singapore may not be in that first region circle for the Google Pixel 6. They will eventually get it later on though as the device is made available in other regions. More information about Google’s Pixel 6 series can be found on Google’s own Blog, or their official Twitter page.

Subscribing to the new Spotify Premium Mini plans is pretty simple. All you have to do is click the “Get Mini” option in the subscriptions option. Spotify is also introducing more payment options for Malaysians. Users in Malaysia can now pay using multiple methods including through their mobile bill or even using one of the many eWallets available; absolutely no credit card is needed. Older Android Devices Will Lose Access to Google Services Come September

It looks like it’s the end of the road for Android devices running Android 2.3.7 and older. Android 2.3.7, better known as Gingerbread, was one of the more significant updates to Android as the operating system began to become more mainstream. However, it looks like it will also serve a new significance as the cutoff point for Google Services.

The announcement comes to light after a post on the Android Support Forums by community manager, Zak Pollack. In the post, the move is explained to be part of the “ongoing efforts to keep [our] users safe”. Of course, from a security perspective, the move will make things easier as security updates to Android can now focus on updating newer devices. That said, the distribution of active devices that fall into this category is negligible which isn’t surprising considering Gingerbread came out in 2010. Google’s last update in April 2020 showed that Android 9.0 (Pie) is currently the most common version of the OS in the market.

Photo by Mark Boss on Unsplash

While it may seem a little harsh, the ending of support is nothing new. We’ve seen companies drop support for devices and software before. So, if you’re still running Android 2.3.7 on your devices, it would be advisable to update to Android 3.0 Honeycomb – if available.

Come September 27, 2021, any device running Gingerbread will face errors logging into Google apps like Google, Gmail, YouTube and Maps. That said, the OS itself will still be usable. However, accessing YouTube, Gmail and other Google apps will require the use of the browser. Keep in mind, that Google Play Service will also be affected. So, accessing the Google Play Store may be an issue for these devices.

Google’s move to drop support isn’t a controversial one considering how far Android has come since then. This and the fact that an increasing number of manufacturers are committing to updates for their devices. Most recently, Samsung committed to three year support for updates for their current device line up. Other manufacturers have also followed suit.

The HUAWEI P50 Series Has Launched Quietly, here is What You Need to Know

HUAWEI’s flagship smartphone for the year 2021 has just launched last week Friday. Oddly enough, it was not a global affair. To our surprise too, the news did not create the hype a flagship usually does. There is a good reason for that though. The HUAWEI P50 series is currently only launched for the Chinese market.

The device still appears in HUAWEI’s global site though. While that could mean that HUAWEI might plan a global release of the device later in the year, maybe closer to its availability date, the device launches in a rather quiet fashion. Well, quieter than the usual fanfare of a high-profiled smartphone launch. Does this mean HUAWEI is now not a high-profile smartphone maker?

We think it is contrary to that. We think they are in the midst of a restructure, a sort of regrouping. Before that though, we do have to talk about the HUAWEI P50 series, it is what we are here for after all.

As usual, the flagship brand from HUAWEI is now a series instead of a single device. There are two devices in the HUAWEI P50 series, a regular vanilla P50, and an extreme version P50 Pro. Of course, the bigger one must be the HUAWEI P50 Pro.

HUAWEI P50 Pro

Screenshot 2021 08 02 at 15 42 15 HUAWEI P50 Pro Specifications HUAWEI Global
Source: HUAWEI

We start with the most powerful HUAWEI P series to date, the HUAWEI P50 Pro. It is the bigger one among the two devices introduced in the series. Its display measures 6.6-inch and pushes a tiny bit more resolution out of the display. It is an odd display though, because it is not exactly 1440p QHD, but it is not Full HD either at 2,700 x 1,228 pixels. You still get 450 ppi (pixels per inch) with 10-bit colour space though (1.07 billion colours).

It is an OLED panel too, which also means that you are getting highly vivid colours and brilliant contrasts. It also refreshes at 120Hz and features 300Hz in touch sampling rate, which also means you might get a kick out of it for gaming. While it is not exactly a 1440p display, it is still a brilliant one, by the looks of it.

Of course, a large and brilliant display needs powerful internals. Here is the strange part though, you can actually opt for a HUAWEI P50 Pro that does not come with HUAWEI’s own Kirin chipset. It can either come with HUAWEI’s Kirin 9000 System on a Chip (SoC), or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 4G SoC (global site only outlines Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G SoC). HUAWEI’s adaptation to Qualcomm’s chips could have a larger implication for HUAWEI’s future. That is just speculations though, back to the device.

Alongside the powerful chips that you can choose from is either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB in storage (global site only outlines up to 8GB + 256GB). Apparently, there will be no expansion option on the latest HUAWEI P series flagships though. With a larger body too, it has a large 4,360 mAh that should last you a whole day and even more running HUAWEI’s proprietary HarmonyOS 2.0 introduced with the HUAWEI MatePad Pro earlier this year.

Instead of a single camera bulge, the HUAWEI P50 Pro comes with two camera domes now. One houses three lenses (40-Megapixel MonoChrome, 13-Megapixel Ultra-Wide, 64-Megapixel Telephoto) and the other houses a single 50-Megapixel main shooter alongside an LED flash module. Out the front is a high-resolution 13-Megapixel shooter. Funnily enough, while Leica’s brand still graces the device, there are no mentions of the sensor size on the HUAWEI P50 Pro.

HUAWEI P50

Source: HUAWEI

Then there is the regular HUAWEI P50. In size it is smaller, but not by that much. Instead of the 6.6-inch display, the HUAWEI P50 settles in at 6.5-inch. It is still an OLED display that boasts 2,700 x 1,224 pixels at up to 90Hz refresh rate.

While you get a choice of going for a HUAWEI Kirin 9000 chip, the HUAWEI P50 only gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G treatment, which is odd. Supporting the chipset though is still up to 8GB in RAM and up to 256GB in storage, which are not too bad considering.

The HUAWEI P50 also loses a 64-Megapixel telephoto lens and 40-Megapixel monochrome lens. Instead, you get 12-Megapixel in telephoto lens and a 13-Megapixel ultra-wide camera alongside the 50-Megapixel shooter. You still get two camera bulges though.

Because it is a smaller body, the HUAWEI P50 only packs a 4,100mAh battery. While the SuperCharge 66W fast charging capability remains, the HUAWEI P50 will not be getting wireless charging capabilities. You should still be able to last a whole day and more from the smaller battery though.

Pricing and Availability

The HUAWEI P50 Pro and P50 comes in Golden Black, Cocoa Gold, or Pearl White colour options. The HUAWEI P50 Pro gets an additional colour option in the Charm Pink though. There are no mentions of its availability the global market at this time. At this point too, you can expect the HUAWEI P50 with Harmony OS 2.0 to be shipping out without Google’s Play Store or Google’s basic mobile ecosystem installed.

The HUAWEI P50 and P50 Pro is already on pre-order in China and will start shipping and appearing in stores 8th August 2021 onward. The HUAWEI P50 starts at CN¥ 4,488 (MYR 2,935*) and tops out at CN¥ 4,988 (MYR 3,262*). The HUAWEI P50 Pro starts at CN¥ 5,988 (MYR 3,917*) for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 variant with 8GB RAM and 129GB on-board storage. It tops out at CN¥ 7,988 (MYR 5,225*) for the Kirin 9000 variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of on-board storage.

* Approximately based on exchange rate of CN¥ 10 = MYR 6.54 on xe.com as of 02/08/2021

AMD Announces the Radeon RX 6600 XT – Fast, Smooth, Responsive 1080p Gaming

When AMD launches their RDNA 2 GPUs earlier this year, the PC building and gamer community was thrilled. We expected great things from AMD and they delivered in GPUs that could compete with the best its competitors can offer at more reasonable prices. There was still a problem though, after the launch.

It was not about stock shortages and the chip shortage. It was more about the price category that AMD launched the RDNA 2 cards in. It was in the high-end portion of the market. While it was understandable, the GPUs were a little out of reach for most of the gaming community.

BIOSTAR AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT 4
Source: AMD

If you look into Steam’s trends too, the most popular category in gaming PCs is not in the high-end market. A lot of them still work with NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1060 GPUs. A lot of those GPUs also power displays at 1080p Full HD resolution. The most popular resolution in PC gaming then, is still 1080p Full HD.

For the purpose of powering Full HD displays, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6900 cards are a little overpowered, and a little overpriced. AMD understands this, of course. That is why you get the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT.

We start with the numbers first, of course. The Radeon RX 6600 XT packs 32 RDNA 2 compute units, 8 less than the RX 6700 XT. Instead of 12GB, it has 8GB of GDDR6 RAM. It is clocked a little higher than the RX 6700 XT though at a base clock of 2,359 MHz with boost speeds at up to 2,589 MHz. Of course, less cores and smaller RAM size also means lower power draw at 160W compared to 230W of the RX 6700 XT.

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT is made for budget conscious users. With less total required power, your power supply unit (PSU) can be of a smaller and less powerful variant too, a 550W PSU should be enough in this case. At US$ 379 (MYR 1,603*) it is also a lot more friendly to the wallet.

The Radeon RX 6600 XT is built to take on high-framerate Full HD 1080p gaming. At the same times, different games can be a little demanding. AMD’s FideltyFX technology that comes with the RX 6600 XT should allow games to be upscaled to Full HD resolution to deliver the best experience when gaming with more demanding modern titles. With DirectX 12 Ultimate support too, games should look stunning on your Full HD displays.

Of course, it also comes with AMD’s Smart Access memory technology to allow your AMD Ryzen processors access to the ample memory of the GPU for even better gaming performance. There is also AMD’s Radeon Anti—Lag technology on-board, which means you get even better response times from your keyboard and mouse, and even controllers which gives you the extra edge in games like Call of Duty: Warzone.

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT will be available from AMD’s various board partners. You should start seeing units of the new GPU hitting shelves starting August 11th, 2021. Pre-built systems from OEMs and System Integrators are also expected to include the Radeon RX 6600 XT builds August 2021 onward. As mentioned, prices start from US$ 379 (MYR 1,603*) but will vary from one board partner to the other. More information on the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT can be found on AMD’s website.

ASUS Launches New ExpertBooks for Modern Experts

Businesses today are not conducted in the office anymore. Business deals are also not sealed in a meeting room most of the time these days. Instead, if you consider the 2020/2021 pandemic situation, businesses and deals are conducted and sealed at home. But even before that, businesses and deals are done outside of the office environment like coffee shops and even restaurants, public spaces.

Portable computing solutions like notebook PCs play a big role in the rising trend in moving out of the office to get your work done though. At the same time, laptops are also getting more sophisticated, especially when they start becoming more function specific. For example, the ASUS ExpertBook line-up that ASUS just launched are built specifically for the modern road warrior.

A thin and light notebook PC does not need have to come with a heavy price tag. The prime example of an affordable thin and light notebook that is also versatile is the ASUS ExpertBook B1 (B1400 & B1500). They are thin (19.2mm for B1400, 19.4mm for B1500), and they are not exactly back breaking (1.45kg for B1400, 1.73kg for B1500). While they may not be the lightest laptops available today, you do have to remember that the B1400 ExpertBook B1 is a 14-inch notebook, while the B1500 ExpertBook B1 is a 15.6-inch notebook.

The display size is the only thing that separates the two notebooks in the series though. Alongside up to 8GB of RAM, the ExpertBook B1 makes short work of any sort of documents you need to get through for the day anywhere.

At the same time, it has versatility like no other with a slew of I/O ports that could prove useful in a lot of conditions. It has a full HDMI port, an RJ45 LAN port, a USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 port, three USB Type-A ports (2 x USB 3.2, 1 x USB 2.0) one MicroSD card reader, a VGA D-SUB port, and an Audio combo 3.5mm AUX jack.

Physical connection, while much appreciated is secondary these days when it comes to networking today. The ExpertBook B1 comes with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. These things mean that the ExpertBook B1 will have a stable and fast connection to any wireless internet line, or when you need to transfer data between two Bluetooth devices.

Of course, security is a big concern in the corporate world. It is seamless too, with users only needing to turn on the device with the power button to simply log in. At the same time, Trusted Platform Module 2.0 (TPM 2.0) ensures that the ExpertBook B1 is more secure than ever. As a bonus, it is Windows 11 ready with TPM 2.0.

To be fair, there are two flavours in the ASUS ExpertBook B5 line-up – a convertible flip variant, and regular clamshell variant. They are basically the same notebooks though, on paper at least, with the flip convertible ExpertBook B5 Flip being the heavier one of the two (1.11kg vs 1kg).

The MIL-STD 810H aluminium and magnesium-alloy constructed body is light while containing a lot of power. It packs a lot of punch with up to an 11th Generation Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU with the proven integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics. 8GB of RAM ensures that the ExpertBook B5 maintains its speed and power through any sort of work you can throw at it.

The 16.9mm ExpertBook 5 series still packs up to 512GB of SSD that gives you ample storage for all kinds of documents you need for work. SSD speeds also allows you to quickly access any files you need at any time. Dual-band WiFi 6 should also supply the ExpertBook B5 with enough networking speeds when needed.

The power button also doubles as a fingerprint sensor for super quick log in to Windows 10 Pro. The start of the show is none other than the ExpertBook B9. The most premium device in the ExpertBook line-up offers the world’s lightest 14-inch business laptop experience at 880 grams. At 14.9mm, it is not exactly thick either.

ASUS managed the weight and also achieve MIL-STD 810H military build standards with a unique magnesium-lithium-alloy chassis mix. They still manage to fit a 33Wh battery in the 880g variant of the notebook for an impressive battery life. For a full day of battery life though, there is the 1005g variant that packs double the battery size at 66Wh. Both of which are still contained in a 14.9mm thick body.

The 14-inch display is an LED-bakclit, IPS panel that projects 1080p Full HD resolution at up to 400nits in brightness and up to 1005 of sRGB colour gamut. To keep Windows 10 Pro and all its applications running happy on the ASUS ExpertBook B9 is a powerful 11th Generation Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU with integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics. With up to 16GB of RAM too, the new standard in thin and light can multitask like a champ.

You get WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 as standard in the ASUS ExpertBook B9 notebook for high-speed and stable networking. The only way to extract more speed for the ExpertBook B9 is to connect the notebook to an RJ45 line, which is possible with the laptop via the micro HDMI port (adapter included). At the same time, you have up to 1TB in SSD to store all your important files and documents while maintaining the speed to access needed files.

Instead of writing off the 3.5mm AUX combo jack though, ASUS manages to keep the headphone jack in the ExpertBook B9. Alongside the AUX jack are two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, and a single standard HDMI port alongside a micro HDMI port. This also means that the ExpertBook B9 can handle up to two 4K displays at the same time.

Security is handled by a combination of hardware and software implementations on the ASUS ExpertBook B9 to make it the most secure business notebook you can find in their line-up. There is the fingerprint sensor that is integrated with the power button. At the same time, the 720p HD webcam also comes with an IR sensor for Windows Hello’s biometric facial recognition feature.
