Malaysia, in its capacity as the ASEAN Chair, is set to host the first-ever ASEAN E-Commerce Conference 2025. This event aims to serve as a platform for strengthening the regional digital economy by bringing together key public and private sector players to discuss challenges and opportunities. The conference is scheduled to take place from November 24–25, 2025, at the Grand Hyatt, Kuala Lumpur. It is organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in collaboration with the Malaysia E-Commerce Chapter under MICCI.

The conference theme is “ASEAN E-Commerce Transformation: Bridging Gaps, Enhancing Competitiveness.” It will be structured around two main tracks to address critical aspects of the e-commerce ecosystem. The first track will focus on “Creating a trusted e-commerce marketplace,” with discussions on strengthening consumer protection, managing cross-border e-commerce challenges, and tackling digital piracy and counterfeit goods. The second track, “Empowering the digital ecosystem,” will highlight strategies to improve last-mile logistics, expand digital financing options like Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL), and empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the digital space.
The event will feature a range of high-profile speakers from both the public and private sectors, including YB Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, and Mr. James Dong, President of the International Marketplace at Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group. The collaboration also involves support from leading e-commerce companies such as Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, Mudah.my, and Carousell.

The conference is a strategic effort to align with the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA). It is a response to the rapid growth of e-commerce in the region; the annual revenue of Malaysia’s e-commerce sector alone reached RM1,230.6 billion in 2024. The ASEAN digital economy is projected to reach USD1 trillion by 2030, with e-commerce a key driver of this growth. Registration for the event is currently open, with early bird pricing available until October 15, 2025.
