Acer is adding a new model to its thin-and-light Swift lineup with the introduction of the Swift Air 16 (SFA16-61M). This new laptop is designed for mobile professionals who need a mix of AI computing power, immersive visuals, and a truly lightweight design. It’s a compelling blend of performance and portability.
At the heart of the Swift Air 16 are the latest AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors, featuring options up to the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350. This allows the laptop to run local AI applications seamlessly while being power-efficient. The powerful AMD processors are great for video conferencing, streaming, and creative work. As a Copilot+ PC, the Swift Air 16 unlocks unique AI experiences such as Recall (in preview), Click to Do (in preview), and Improved Windows Search to streamline your workflow.
The laptop is crafted from a magnesium-aluminium alloy chassis, giving it a durable yet elegant feel. Despite its large 16-inch display, the device weighs under 1 kg, making it one of the lightest laptops in its class. It also comes in four different colours: Light Silver, Fresh Blue, Steel Grey, and White.
You can choose between two display options: a 16-inch WQXGA+ AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate or a WUXGA IPS display with a 60 Hz refresh rate. The AMOLED option is particularly impressive, offering deep blacks, vivid colours, and support for 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, with a peak brightness of 400 nits, making it ideal for creative work. The laptop also includes a 2MP FHD IR camera with a privacy shutter for secure facial recognition via Windows Hello and clear video calls, even in low-light conditions. For audio, it’s equipped with dual speakers and microphones.

For connectivity, the Swift Air 16 offers two full-function USB Type-C ports, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, and an HDMI 1.4 port. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E and the latest Bluetooth standard for fast and stable wireless connections. The laptop comes with a 50 Wh 3-cell Li-ion battery, providing up to 13 hours of battery life based on video playback tests. It also supports up to 32 GB of onboard LPDDR5 memory and up to a 1 TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 SSD.
On paper, the new Swift Laptop looks to redefine the term “thin and light” – a feat that Acer did once before with the introduction of the Swift lineup itself. Even though the Swift Air 16 AI has big shoes to fill, the package looks more than promising to achieve what it’s setting out to do.
