Acer is stepping up its Chromebook game with the new Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514. This isn’t just another Chromebook; it’s the first from Acer to be powered by the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor, a major move that brings powerful AI capabilities and long battery life to the ChromeOS platform.

At the heart of this new laptop is the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor, which includes an integrated NPU with up to 50 TOPS of AI processing power. This means the Chromebook can handle on-device generative AI experiences and real-time task automation without relying heavily on the cloud. This integrated AI helps streamline everything from multitasking and content creation to daily productivity. The processor also features an Arm Immortalis-G925 MC11 GPU, ensuring solid graphics performance for creative tasks like editing and rendering. On top of that, it’s incredibly power-efficient, offering up to 17 hours of battery life on a single charge.
The Chromebook Plus Spin 514 is also built for durability and flexibility. Its design is military-grade MIL-STD 810H compliant, which means it can handle drops and other daily rigours. The 360-degree hinges allow it to be used in four different modes—as a traditional laptop, a tablet, a display, or in tent mode. The hinges are even designed to withstand up to 25,000 open/close cycles.
The 14-inch touchscreen display is available in either a WQXGA+ (2800×1800) or WUXGA (1920×1200) resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Both display options have an anti-fingerprint coating and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The screen also supports a USI 2.0 stylus (sold separately), which enables intuitive gesture-based features for notetaking and editing, making handwritten notes more fluid and natural.
For video conferencing, the Chromebook is equipped with a webcam with up to 5MP and 1080p options. It also comes with built-in AI video call control tools to automatically enhance clarity, cancel noise, and blur backgrounds. Connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and it includes a range of ports, including dual USB Type-C ports. A unique feature is the OceanGlass touchpad, which is made from recycled ocean-bound plastic.
