ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) is once again pushing the boundaries of gaming hardware with the announcement of the ROG Strix OLED XG32U series. These new monitors, which include the XG32UCWMG and XG32UCWG models, are being touted as the world’s first 4K WOLED gaming monitors to feature a new anti-reflective panel coating called TrueBlack Glossy film. This is a significant move in the gaming monitor space, as it aims to deliver a stunning visual experience while simultaneously tackling one of the biggest pain points for OLED users: glare and reflections.

A New Standard for Visuals
The ROG Strix XG32U series is built to deliver a premium visual experience. Both models feature large 32-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) WOLED panels with a super-fast 0.03ms (grey-to-grey) response time. The XG32UCWMG model has a refresh rate of 240Hz, while the XG32UCWG model comes in at 165Hz. The new TrueBlack Glossy film, a zero-haze optical layer combined with an advanced anti-reflective stack, is designed to significantly cut down on ambient reflections by up to 38% compared to previous-generation glossy WOLED panels. This allows the monitors to maintain true black hues even under bright lighting, which helps prevent eye strain during prolonged viewing. The monitors also feature the ASUS Clear Pixel Edge algorithm, which is designed to remove red-green fringing on text and fine lines, ensuring that everything from spreadsheets to code and creative timelines appears pin-sharp.
Built for Competitive Gaming
One of the most innovative features of the new XG32U series is its Dual-mode OLED capability. With a simple onscreen toggle, gamers can switch from a crystal-clear 4K resolution to a high-frame-rate FHD mode for competitive esports. This unlocks a staggering FHD@480Hz for the XG32UCWMG and FHD@330Hz for the XG32UCWG. This gives gamers the best of both worlds: the stunning visuals of 4K for immersive single-player games and the ultra-high frame rates of FHD for competitive titles. The monitors also come with Extreme Low Motion Blur and OLED Anti-Flicker technologies that keep imagery smooth, even with a variable refresh rate enabled. For competitive FPS games, the monitors also offer a built-in Aspect-Ratio Control that provides optimised 24- and 27-inch window sizes. Both monitors are also G-Sync compatible and support FreeSync Premium Pro, ensuring a tear-free and stutter-free gaming experience regardless of your graphics card.
Protection and Convenience
ASUS has also paid close attention to OLED protection with the new OLED Care Pro suite. This suite includes features like occasional pixel refreshes, image shifting, and a logo brightness limiter to help guard against the risk of burn-in. The most notable new feature is the Neo Proximity sensor, which detects when a user moves away from the monitor and automatically dims the screen to protect the panel. The monitor wakes instantly once the user returns, and the detection distance can be customised. To top it all off, every XG32U series monitor is backed by a comprehensive three-year burn-in warranty. For convenience, the monitors come with an ultracompact stand that saves desktop space and offers full tilt, swivel, and height adjustments. They also feature an extensive array of connectivity options, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, a USB-C port with 15W power delivery, and a headphone jack. The Auto KVM feature allows for effortless switching between two connected laptops or PCs with a single keyboard and mouse.
