Kyndryl, one of the world’s largest IT infrastructure services providers, has recently announced a strategic agreement with LifeTech Group, a prominent managed cybersecurity services provider in Southeast Asia, headquartered in Malaysia. This collaboration is set to pave the way for the establishment of Malaysia’s first in-country Security Operations Centre (SOC) on public cloud.
LifeTech’s decision to partner with Kyndryl is rooted in the need to support its next-generation SOC, with the overarching goal of empowering Malaysian enterprises to maintain the security of their data within the country using a public cloud platform. This initiative is also expected to yield significant cost savings, potentially reducing security operational expenses by up to 40%.
The partnership is poised to enhance LifeTech’s cybersecurity capabilities, enabling customers to thoroughly assess and benchmark their cyber resilience maturity, proactively address emerging threats, gain deeper insights into vulnerabilities, and adhere to Bank Negara Malaysia’s data residency compliance requirements.
LifeTech has been a pioneering force in Malaysia’s Managed Cyber Security Services sector since 1989, catering to a diverse range of industries including financial services, healthcare, government, manufacturing, e-commerce, retail, telecommunications, and education.
The collaboration between Kyndryl and LifeTech extends beyond the SOC transformation, encompassing the delivery of essential cybersecurity services such as threat intelligence, incident response, and managed detection and response.
Dato KK Loh, Chairman and CEO of LifeTech Group, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating that it will substantially enhance their ability to safeguard organizations in Malaysia and ensure the in-country security of their critical data. Furthermore, he highlighted that the transformation of their Security Operations Center, leveraging a next-generation unified platform, will empower customers across various industries to strengthen their cyber resilience, respond swiftly to threats, and navigate the increasingly complex security landscape with confidence, all while achieving considerable cost reductions.

Through this strategic alliance, LifeTech and Kyndryl will implement a world-class, next-generation SOC platform, integrating the Kyndryl Security Intelligence and Automation framework to elevate detection, response, and operational efficiencies for organizations throughout Malaysia and the wider region.
This security operations transformation program will bring about several key advancements. It will involve the migration and integration of customer platforms and threat intelligence to enable robust monitoring, automation, and analytics on a unified platform. This will facilitate rapid searches, queries, and investigations, while simultaneously reducing the cost of on-premises security infrastructure. There will also be a shift from basic security operational needs to more advanced capabilities, including proactive risk mitigation planning, perception management, skills enhancement, and continuous improvement. A comprehensive lifecycle approach to addressing cyber threats will be adopted through optimized services in risk assessment, compliance, and threat visibility. Zero Trust Services will be implemented to safeguard critical business assets using identity, endpoint, and cloud security solutions. The program will also feature advanced detection, response capabilities, automation, and incident forensics. Moreover, Security Operations will be established as a Platform, providing unified visibility and control across IT environments through tools like SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response), designed to enhance incident response, mitigate risk, and improve operational efficiency.
Effendi Azmi Hashim, Managing Director of Kyndryl Malaysia and Indonesia, expressed that this partnership underscores their shared commitment to delivering innovative, scalable, and resilient cybersecurity solutions. These solutions will empower LifeTech and Kyndryl customers to protect critical business data and applications within a security-rich infrastructure, utilizing in-country cloud infrastructure. He further emphasized that the collaboration highlights the adoption of global security standards and state-of-the-art security platforms on public cloud, enabling LifeTech to deliver and scale proactive, efficient, and robust security operations, marking a significant stride in addressing the dynamic and complex nature of cybersecurity challenges in Malaysia.
