ViewSonic Launches the First Desktop Multi-Identity Authentication System to Accelerate Paperless Development

Innovative Electronic Signature Solutions Bring a Safer Life to the Post-Pandemic Era

BREA, Calif., June 3, 2021 — ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of visual solutions, showcases the first desktop multi-identity authentication system, the MA series, at #COMPUTEXVirtual 2021 Online Exhibition. The series integrates six widely used digital authentication mechanisms, including electronic signatures, fingerprints, photography, document and ID scanning, PIN codes, and card reading. Businesses can combine different authentication methods to satisfy the security of multi-identity authentication and improve efficiency. Anti-bacterial technology was also implemented to the product to reduce the risk of disease transmission*.

The MA series integrates six widely used digital authentication mechanisms, including electronic signatures, fingerprints, photography, document and ID scanning, PIN codes, and card reading to satisfy the security of multi-identity authentication and improve efficiency.

"ViewSonic electromagnetic pen displays provide natural writing experiences and improves the document management process tremendously. Our brand-new MA series, which integrates biometric and non-biometric identification mechanisms and the enhancement of identity verification, will bring breakthrough innovation to the industry," said George Lee, the Director of Electromagnetic Pen Display BU at ViewSonic. "MA Series can be installed on reception or office desks to optimize the operation process and takes up little to no space. It ensures the security of confidential documents and authenticity of signatures for banks, hospitals, restaurants, and telecommunication companies."

MA series can be paired with a 10" or 12" pen display screen, and is equipped with wide-angle cameras, fingerprint readers, card readers, and Near-field Communication (NFC) technology. With its biometric authentication feature, it supports signature and fingerprint verification and facial recognition; as for scanning files, inserting passwords, and card readings, its non-biometric feature can be brought into play. Through integrating document management, contract authentication, and other software, frontline workers will no longer feel stressed when dealing with applications that require multiple signatures with several authentication steps.

When users sign documents with the ViewSonic electromagnetic pen, the MA series system automatically records and extracts the shape, velocity, stroke, pen pressure, and then verifies it to ensure authenticity. To conform to the international level of electronic signature specifications and data security, it meets the industry’s highest standard AES 256 and RSA 2048 encryption and CA (certificate authority) certification. If the file has been tampered with, the document seal will be shown as destroyed.

ViewSonic is also presenting a line-up of electromagnetic pen displays ranging from 5" to 21.5 " (PD0521, PD0711, PD1013, PD1213, PD1233, PD1631, PD2211). All products are made with anti-bacterial plastic materials verified by SGS, which effectively reduces the reproduction of microorganisms by 99.9%. The entire PD series of products are equipped with anti-scratch, anti-glare, and anti-fingerprint coatings. Combined with the cloud signature software, users can receive documents and sign them on any device anywhere. In addition, a series of educational handwriting solutions (PD1330, PF0730-I0WW, ID710-BWW) are also being showcased at the online event. With its intuitive usability, teachers and students will not have to change their writing habits, shortening the learning curve of digital handwriting.

[COMPUTEX 2021] NVIDIA Introduces Even More High-End GPUs in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti

NVIDIA launched their most powerful GPUs for consumer PCs toward the end of last year. The GPUs launched in 2020 had, according to NVIDIA anyway, the largest generational improvement ever in a GPU. While we ourselves have not had the chance to prove that on our own, we do believe that.

At the launch of the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series cards, we also expected NVIDIA to top their products off with Ti variants of the GPUs. The “Ti” moniker is also an indicator that it is the more powerful version of each GPU class. Fast forward a few months and into COMPUTEX 2021, NVIDIA delivered on those expectations, and they seem a lot more powerful than anyone expected.

NVIDIA launched the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti in their COMPUTEX 2021 keynote. While they are launched as more powerful versions of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070, they are not really sold as gaming GPUs. Instead, the more powerful cards are sold as GPUs engineered for content creators and professionals.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti

Source: NVIDIA

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti features 6,144 CUDA cores. That is nearly 300 more CUDA cores than the regular GeForce RTX 3070. The GPU is clocked slightly higher too at 1.77Ghz (Boost Clock). You also get GDDR6X RAM compared to the GDDR6 that the regular card gets.

The result of all those combined into the GeForce RTX 3070 is a much more powerful GPU for both gaming and content creation purposes. While NVIDIA did not mention huge leaps in gaming experience, you still should get more performance out of the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti compared to the regular card. Then again, where it shines over the regular card is in content creation. It is supposed to shave up to a few minutes in your 3D workflow and even 4K HDR video processing. Of course, the improvements also depend very much on your platform of choice and other optimisations as well.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

Source: NVIDIA

To get more done though, you need even more power form your GPU. You need the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. You get 10,240 CUDA cores on the RTX 3080 Ti, that is just shy of the GeForce RTX 3090’s 10,496 CUDA core count and nearly 1,500 cores more than the regular RTX 3080. The cores are clocked a little lower than the regular card though at 1.67GHz (Boost Clock). You get 12GB of GDDR6X RAM, 2GB more than the regular GeForce RTX 3080. It also features a higher memory interface width at 384-biut, the same as the GeForce RTX 3090.

The result of the additions made to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti may not be that significant in terms of gaming too. You probably will see a few fps increase and stability here and there. The raw power I seen in major improvements in your 3D and video editing workflow. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is made to make short work of 8K video processing and even 3D rendering work.

Price and Availability

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is supposed to be available from the 3rd of June 2021 onward with prices starting at MYR 5,800. The NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti on the other hand will be available a little later from the 10th of June 2021 onward for MYR 2,880 onward. These are the Founder’s Edition GPUs though, there are no solid word on when manufacturers will release their own versions of the new GPUs. At the same time, expect some stock shortage even after its release date. For more information NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPUs, you can head over to their website.

Access Advance Announces its HEVC Advance Platform License, with Simplified Royalty Rates and New Licensor Royalty Allocations

First step in its Multi-Codec HEVC and VVC Platform Initiative

BOSTON, June 2, 2021 — Building on the success of its HEVC/H.265 Patent Pool, Access Advance today announced its new HEVC Advance Platform Pool structure.  The new and simplified structure will benefit both HEVC implementers (licensees) and HEVC standard essential patent owners (licensors).

Licensees will receive an expanded license which now includes all HEVC Profiles through Version 7 at the existing Main/Main 10 royalty rates, eliminating the separate additional royalties required under the current license for Version 2 HEVC Profiles and Optional Patents.  New Licensees to the HEVC Advance pool will execute the new Platform License and immediately have the benefit of the new expanded license.  Existing licensees may transition over to the new Platform License at any time, and are encouraged to do so promptly in order to avoid any future royalty obligations for Version 2 Profiles and Optional Patents under their existing licenses.

Current Licensors—and any other entities that believe they have essential patents—may now submit Version 3-7 Profile patents for evaluation and inclusion in the license, thus earning royalties for these more recent inventions.  Additionally, under the new Platform License all licensors will now be eligible to receive a minimum annual revenue allocation, ensuring licensors that hold valued patents in smaller portfolios are rewarded for their participation in the HEVC Advance pool.

According to Pete Moller, CEO of Access Advance, "The launch of the new HEVC Platform License is a major milestone for us, providing the market substantial benefits in expanded license coverage and a simplified license.  We hope these changes will help accelerate adoption of many of the technology enhancements offered by the additional HEVC Profiles.  As well, we hope that our new licensor benefits will help further consolidate the HEVC pool landscape, especially for patent owners with smaller patent portfolios."

The new HEVC Advance Platform Pool structure is the first step in Access Advance’s Video Codec Platform Initiative, which will soon be expanded with the launch of the VVC Advance pool.  In addition—and importantly, for products with both HEVC and VVC video codecs—we will be launching the Multi-Codec Bridging Agreement, which will offer licensees in both the HEVC Advance and VVC Advance pools a royalty rate structure that takes into account multiple video codecs on a device.  This innovation responds to the market’s desire for even more efficient next-generation pool licensing structures.  Further announcements on the VVC Advance Pool and Multi-Codec Bridging Agreement are expected in the near future.

About Access Advance:

Access Advance LLC (formerly HEVC Advance LLC) is an independent licensing administrator company formed to lead the development, administration, and management of patent pools for licensing essential patents of the most important standards-based video codec technologies. Access Advance provides a transparent and efficient licensing mechanism for both patent owners and patent implementers. Access Advance currently manages and administers the HEVC Advance Patent Pool for licensing patents essential to H.265/HEVC technology and is currently in the development phase for its VVC Advance Patent Pool for licensing essential patents to VVC/H.266 technology.  For more information about Access Advance or the HEVC Advance Patent Pool, please visit www.accessadvance.com. For more information about the VVC Advance Patent Pool currently in development, please contact Paul Bawel, SVP, Business Development, at Paul.Bawel@accessadvance.com.

JDDJ Kicks off 6.18: “One-Hour Delivery” Accelerates Mid-Year Shopping Festival

SHANGHAI, June 1, 2021 — Dada Group (Nasdaq: DADA) ("Dada"), China’s leading local on-demand delivery and retail platform, today announced that JDDJ, Dada’s on-demand retail platform, has officially launched 6.18 Mid-Year Shopping Festival. Leveraging JDDJ’s capacities for online and offline integration and Dada Now’s on-demand delivery network, the on-demand shopping experience of "online ordering and home delivery within one hour" would become a new driving force for this year’s festival.

JDDJ Launched 6.18 Mid-Year Shopping Festival
JDDJ Launched 6.18 Mid-Year Shopping Festival

This year’s JDDJ 6.18 Mid-Year Shopping Festival, called Better Life Festival, begins from June 1st to June 20th. The festival features faster delivery service and more product categories. And one-hour shopping and home delivery service has covered a variety of categories such as fresh food, FMCG, mobile phones and digital products, maternal and baby products, medicine, personal care and cosmetics, as well as summer and seasonal goods.

Moreover, Dada Group has further deepened strategic cooperation with JD.com in this March and it will better fulfill demands for local on-demand retail and its delivery on JD. In the 6.18 Grand Promotion, JD.com built the special omni-channel section based on its citywide shopping and JD Supermarket one-hour delivery service. JDDJ and JD.com collaborated with offline stores and brand owners to create a "one-hour shopping ecosystem", covering 1,400 counties and cities in China, so that more consumers can enjoy the online shopping carnival.

JDDJ first piloted its One-Hour Livestreaming E-commerce service in 2020 and has expanded its service to JD’s livestreaming channel since this year. During the 6.18 festival, the platform would partner with nearly 50 supermarket chains such as CR Vanguard and Huaguan, and leading FMCG brands such as P&G, Yihai Kerry, Yili, and Liby, to launch nearly 100 local livestreaming events, covering over 10,000 offline stores. On June 16th, the seventh anniversary of Dada Group, JDDJ will invite famous TV hosts and celebrities to its broadcasting room, and launch a six-hour livestreaming show with a full-category promotion.

As JDDJ extended its service to more lower-tier cities in China, more users would enjoy on-demand shopping experience at this year’s event. Lower-tier market has become a key growth driver in sales for JDDJ and "City Strategy" is an exclusive marketing campaign hosted by JDDJ for the lower-tier cities. In the 6.18 promotion, "City Strategy" will launch in 35 cities, including Baotou in Inner Mongolia, Qujing in Yunnan, and Zunyi in Guizhou. While bringing online users to offline stores through targeted marketing, it promotes on-demand consumption and sales growth in the lower-tier market.

Meanwhile, Dada Now, the on-demand delivery platform of Dada Group, takes advantage of its efficient and flexible delivery network to help e-commerce platforms including JD.com fulfill demands for delivery during the promotion periods. The platform provides JDDJ and retailers with efficient, stable, and professional on-demand delivery services, covering various scenarios and categories. Besides, to cope with the hot season in June, Dada Now has deepened cooperation with offline stores and brands in rider stations, which are equipped with seats, drinking water, heatstroke drugs, anti-epidemic materials, and phone chargers, especially for the delivery riders. Rider caring activities such as high-temperature care, rider stations, and offline seminars, would be held by Dada Now in support of delivery service during the grand promotion.

About Dada Group

Dada Group is a leading platform of local on-demand retail and delivery in China. It operates JDDJ, one of China’s largest local on-demand retail platforms for retailers and brand owners, and Dada Now, a leading local on-demand delivery platform open to merchants and individual senders across various industries and product categories. The Company’s two platforms are inter-connected and mutually beneficial. The Dada Now platform enables improved delivery experience for participants on the JDDJ platform through its readily accessible fulfillment solutions and strong on-demand delivery infrastructure. Meanwhile, the vast volume of on-demand delivery orders from the JDDJ platform increases order volume and density for the Dada Now platform. In June 2020, Dada Group began trading on the Nasdaq Global Market, under the ticker symbol "DADA."

AMD has been a keen participant of COMPUTEX and they are not going to miss the 2021 season of COMPUTEX. They took the center stage of COMPUTEX this morning, well via YouTube, to launch their latest APUs and Mobile GPUs. They introduced the AMD Ryzen 5600G and AMD Ryzen 5700G APUs and AMD Radeon RX 6600M, AMD Radeon RX 6700M, and AMD Radeon RX 6800M mobile GPUs.

AMD Ryzen 5000G Series

Since the Zen 3 architecture with the AMD Ryzen 5000 series was introduced last year, one of the biggest requests from gamers and enthusiasts was a Zen 3 architecture APU (Accelerated Processing Unit). AMD has answered with the AMD Ryzen 5600G and AMD Ryzen 5700G. Now, you have a choice of building a modern system without a dedicated GPU.

First, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G. The 5600G is sort of the budget option for builders and gamers. It still features 6 CPU cores like the regular 5600X. Additionally the 5600G packs 7 Radeon VEGA GPU cores within the same die.

Of course, there are some trade-offs to be made with the integrated GPU cores. Boost clock goes up to 4.4 GHz only rather than 4.6GHz. The APU also only has 16MB in L3 cache compared to 32MB.

If you need a little bit more power for the long run, you want the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G. It is sort of comparable to the other Ryzen 7 that is built for desktops, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. Both has 8 Zen 3 architecture cores to boot. The 5700G though has 8 more cores than the 5800X in the form of Radeon VEGA graphics cores.

Again, with graphics cores integrated onto the processing die, there are some trade-offs to be made. The maximum boost clock on the 5700G is down to 4.6GHz, from 4.6GHz. The L3 cache is also halved at 16MB compared to 32MB. The benefit of having integrated GPU though would be a blessing to budget constrained builders.

AMD Radeon RX 6000M Series

At COMPUTEX 2021, AMD also introduces their new mobile based GPUs as well – the AMD Radeon RX 6600M, AMD Radeon RX 6700M, and AMD Radeon RX 6800M. If you are wondering what the equivalent competitor’s mobile GPUs are, those would be the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, GeForce RTX 3070, and GeForce RTX 3080. Alongside the AMD Radeon RX 6000M series too, they introduced a sort of guideline of AMD’s version of the ultimate gaming laptop they call the “AMD Advantage”.

The AMD Radeon RX 6600M is the entry-level choice from the AMD Radeon for mobile GPU line-up. You get 28 compute units and 8GB of GDDR6 RAM with clock speeds at 2.1GHz. Going up from there is the Radeon RX 6700M with 36 compute units clocked at 2.3GHz and 10GB of GDDDR6 RAM. The top-of the line Radeon RX 6800M packs 40 compute units clocked at 2.3GHz with 12GB of RAM.

All of the Radeon RX 6000M mobile GPUs comes with RDNA 2 technology, of course. They also brought AMD’s Smart Access Memory, or resizable bar in more common terms to the mobile computing market with the introduction of the Radeon RX 6000M series. They also introduced the AMD Radeon Chill technology with the mobile GPUs alongside AMD FidelityFX for all AMD based system, even if they are running a non-AMD GPU platform.

AMD Radeon Chill

AMD Radeon Chill is a clever technology that is supposed to minimise a problem that has been plaguing gaming laptops forever. AMD says that it is a power-regulation technology that is supposed to extend the battery life of a gaming laptop without sacrificing too much performance. At the same time AMD’s SmartShift technology also regulates power power consumption and processing power between the CPU and GPU to always optimise gaming and productivity performance.

AMD FidelityFX

At the same time, there is AMD FidelityFX technology that upscales your games from a lower resolution to a higher one. If it sounds familiar to another competitor technology, it is because they are basically the same things. But there is some good in upscaling contents, despite not getting all the high-definition detail. You get more performance out of your system at least. The best news is that it is coming to all AMD based systems. It even works on older non-AMD GPUs if you want it to.

AMD Advantage Design

AMD also introduced the AMD Advantage framework for gaming laptops fully based on the AMD processors. They introduced ASUS’ ROG Strix G15/G17 and HP Omen 15 alongside the announcement too.

AMD Advantage outlines the guidelines of what an AMD gaming laptop should work like. For example, the minimum requirement for an AMD Advantage certified laptop is featuring a display with at least 144Hz in refresh rate. Display has to be either an IPS or OLED display that can push above 300nits in brightness. They also are required to last more than 10 hours when you watch movies as well. To ensure smooth and fast operation, and AMD Advantage laptop has to have at least one NVMe PCIe Gen3 M.2 SSD. Of course, they have to pack an AMD Ryzen processor with an AMD Radeon RX GPU.

The first AMD Advantage Gaming laptops are expected to come as early as June 2021. For more information on AMD’s new APUs and mobile GPUs, you can head over to AMD’s website.
