LONDON, Jan. 28, 2021IFS, the global enterprise applications company, today announced its financial results for the full year ended December 31, 2020.

2020 saw widespread market disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This has heightened the need for companies to build resilience into their business and adopt digital business models.

With this backdrop IFS has stood firm in its commitment to deliver measurable benefits to its customers and has doubled down on ensuring a faster time to value. This has been instrumental in delivering sustained growth in revenue and led to a 105-percent increase in Service Management revenue.

Some of the key milestones for IFS in 2020 included:

IFS CEO Darren Roos commented: "I think that every CEO will have been affected one way or another by 2020. Like many, we had to adapt as individuals and as a business, but the passion this team has for customers continued to shine. I am hugely proud of that."

Roos continued, "I am also really proud to see that a sinificant part of our license revenue has come from new logos, customers who have moved away from their legacy vendor; this combined with our performance in recurring revenue points the performance of a very strong business. 2021 will be a hugely important year for IFS as we launch IFS Cloud on March 10th."

IFS Chief Financial Officer, Constance Minc, added, "This is the third consecutive year that IFS has delivered double digit growth, and over this period we have grown recurring revenue by 250%. This consistency, together with the improved revenue mix, reveals a strong business that continues to deliver with all the right ingredients to capitalize on our investment cycle. We have real strength in our service proposition, demonstarted by license revenue growing at 105 percent in 2020, as well as an industry focus in sectors like aerospace and defense that will ensure that we continue to deliver value to our customers."

Singapore Excels at Biggest Work-From-Home Experiment of Our Time: Lark Study

  • New study reveals 94% of PMEs want flexible work to stay, but need proper tools for collaboration
  • Highlights importance of collaboration tools in not only ensuring work efficiency and productivity, but also in making work more enjoyable

SINGAPORE, Jan. 28, 2021 — As Singapore moves into Phase 3, employees are beginning to think about life after the pandemic including the possibilities on how they can restructure their time outside of the traditional 9-to-5 work-week model. Nearly a year ago, non-essential employees were forced to work from home on a consistent basis – many for the first time. Now, a recent study conducted by Lark, a next-generation digital collaboration suite, revealed that what started as a short-term measure is what Singapore Professionals, Managers, and Executives (PMEs) are expecting moving forward.

According to the study, Singapore is poised to offer flexible work arrangements for the long term, but there is still a need to ensure that the right collaboration tool is in place to foster a positive work environment. The study highlights the importance of investing in a collaboration tool that not only enables work efficiency and productivity, but also makes work more enjoyable.

"Singapore organizations are faced with a growing interest in flexible work arrangements and must find ways to adopt and integrate these practices into work routines, or they will see a decrease in employee satisfaction," said Joey Lim, Lark Vice President of Commercial – Asia. "It is understandable that one major concern about this type of arrangement is the impact on team collaboration. With a dispersed workforce, and the option to work remotely, more employees are relying on collaboration tools to communicate, connect, and at the end of the day, get the job done."

To help organizations better understand the impact of flexible work arrangements on employees and the organization at large, Lark and Milieu Insight, a consumer data analytics firm, rolled out a study to 1,000 PMEs in Singapore.

The study reveals several key findings in the following areas:

  • The perception of flexible work and existing collaboration tools
  • The usage of collaboration tools
  • The needs for the future

Current perception of flexible work and existing collaboration tools

During the biggest work-from-home experiment of our time, Singapore employees have far exceeded expectations proving the nation is well positioned for flexible work arrangements in the long-term. Furthermore, 94% of PMEs want flexible work to stay, which means organizations need to ensure that flexible work is the default work arrangement and should go the distance to ensure their employees are supported with the right setup.

This sentiment is consistent across all age groups and is relatively stable across industries such as Healthcare, Architecture, Computer & Technology, Education, Financial Services, Transportation, and Science & Research. This is also consistent across job levels, business decision makers, and the work sector.

However, only one in five PMEs are very satisfied with their current remote and online collaboration work setup. Half are somewhat satisfied while the rest are neutral (22%) or dissatisfied (11%). This also highlights a possible mismatch in satisfaction and perceived adoption among different levels of employees with the decision makers (director level and above) skewing higher (40%) vs the total respondents (25%) in saying their team is very well adapted to using collaboration tools. This disconnect between senior and junior level employees’ views further underscores the importance of ensuring senior members take an active role in utilizing collaboration tools to ensure they understand how they’re being used. It’s equally important for senior members to take steps to collect feedback from their teams on how well the tools are being used, and deploy a tool that enables aligned satisfaction and adoption across all levels.

Usage of collaboration tools

Organizations need to focus on ensuring seamless collaboration across all channels of communication. This starts with first understanding which collaboration features employees most rely on, then ensuring that the proper tools are in place to accommodate multi-channel collaboration.

While the extent of tasks used in a collaboration suite vary depending on the employment position, the top three tasks amongst Singapore PMEs are the same: Chat/messaging, video meetings and emails. To make collaboration between these various channels more seamless, it’s important to deploy a collaboration tool that can cover all three major tasks and more, where possible.

With the rise of remote collaboration, the study also finds that Singapore PMEs use these three features for up to half of their day: Video Meetings (94%), File Search (90%) and Messaging (80%), with one in five PMEs noting messaging takes up more than 50% of their work day.

Future needs to ensure a satisfied workforce

7 in 10 PMEs agree that having one tool to support all their needs is essential in making work more enjoyable, highlighting the need for organizations to look at collaboration tools beyond just the purpose of work productivity. Such a factor is important given today’s work environment and the need to ensure a positive work experience even when you don’t always see each other.

In fact, when asked what they felt the key benefits of having the right collaboration tool were, 64% stated they felt it makes their work easier, followed by 60% who stated it makes them more productive. Furthermore, this was followed by 39% who stated having the right tools can make work more enjoyable – a sentiment shared across all age groups but most strongly felt among the millennial generation (25-39 years old).

"2020 was a difficult year for many as we were forced to stay indoors, adjusting to a new way of life and work. The uplifting results of this study proves that Singapore PMEs are resilient and have done extremely well adapting to the new normal," said Lim. "However, this study highlights the importance of investing in a collaboration tool that not only enables work efficiency and productivity, but also makes work more enjoyable."

Palma Ceia SemiDesign Announces PCS1100 Wi-Fi 6E 4×4:4 Transceiver

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 28, 2021 — Palma Ceia SemiDesign, a fabless semiconductor company specializing in wireless connectivity solutions, today announced the PCS1100, a Wi-Fi 6E 4×4 transceiver. The PCS1100 is the first chip announced as part of Palma Ceia’s family of Wi-Fi 6 products which support the growing deployment of Wi-Fi 6 networks, and it will provide essential platform technology for a series of upcoming Wi-Fi 6E chipsets.

The PCS1100 supports up to four spatial streams and can operate in the newly allocated 6 GHz spectrum (5.925–7.125 GHz) for Wi-Fi devices, in addition to the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The transceiver supports dual-concurrent operation, allowing simultaneous operation on two frequency bands.

The PC1100 operates as the RF radio part of a wireless system enabling the operation of a Wi-Fi 6 AP-Access Point or STA-Station. It can interface with a host system-level ASSP or ASIC supporting Wi-Fi 6 MAC and baseband digital operation. It is also the ideal companion chip to premium-tier access point architectures.

Designers who integrate the AP or STA Wi-Fi 6 digital modem functionality on their system-level ASIC or ASSP chip can use the PCS1100 as the RF companion chip supporting the radio operation of Wi-Fi 6. This reduces the risk of RF integration and allows use of advanced process nodes with the highest logic gate density.

"As system-level chips grow in functionality to support advanced AI applications that require Wi-Fi connectivity, they must use advanced process nodes to minimize the chip area, and so using an external RF chip reduces the risk of low yield resulting from failure of an integrated RF radio," said Chief Technology Officer Robert Young of Palma Ceia. "The PCS1100 benefits from the experience and expertise of our RF team, and I expect to see those skills reflected in our subsequent products."

Designers who integrate STA modem functionality can use 1×1, 2×2, 3×3 or 4×4 operational configurations, with each additional incremental configuration providing more data throughput. In each configuration, the radio can operate at 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz or 6 GHz, or simultaneously on two frequency bands subject to a maximum of four spatial streams. Customers who integrate the AP Wi-Fi 6 modem functionality on their system-level ASSP or ASIC can use multiple PCS1100 chips to support as many as 12 spatial streams, eight in 5 GHz or 6 GHz, and four in 2.4 GHz (using three PCS1100s) in both the uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) directions.

The PCS1100 Wi-Fi 6E 4×4:4 transceiver features a robust RF architecture offering key features and performance indicators including:

  • Support for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz (5.925–7.125 GHz) frequency bands
  • Up to four spatial streams
  • Support for dual-concurrent operation, allowing simultaneous operation on two frequency bands
  • Excellent receiver sensitivity for reliable connections at longer range
  • Support for 1024-QAM modulation that delivers increased throughput
  • Excellent phase noise and linearity performance to ensure Tx and Rx EVM (Error Vector Magnitude) requirements are met with significant margin
  • Integrated data converters for channel bandwidths up to 80 MHz, with a high-speed SerDes digital interface to the system-level chip; support for 160MHz channels through an analog I/Q interface
  • Integrated digital functionality for calibration, production test and signal path compensation, including an embedded RISC-V processor core

"We are extremely excited about the launch of the PCS1100, the first chip in our family of Wi-Fi-6-based products," said Roy E. Jewell, chief executive officer at Palma Ceia. "The workplace in 2021 can be anywhere we are, and users are increasingly dependent on wireless connectivity. We anticipate a growing demand for the PCS1100 as an RF companion chip as Wi-Fi 6E and use of the 6G spectrum continue to expand."

Availability
The PCS1100 is scheduled to tape out in early Q2 of 2021, with customer samples available in Q3. Contact Palma Ceia SemiDesign via email at info@pcsemi.com for details.

Due to the pandemic, The HKDEA set up the "Online Hong Kong Pavilion" in the "Taipei Game Show 2021" so that the 12 selected game start-ups could still promote their designated games without flying to Taipei in person. This could help them seize the opportunity to proactively promote their original games and Hong Kong’s game culture to game developers and publishers from other parts of the world and further widen the business opportunities for Hong Kong’s game industry.

Hong Kong’s game industry has always been known for its diversity, creativity and international flavour. As a world-class metropolis with an eclectic blend of Chinese and Western cultures, the city produces innovative games of all genres, drawing inspiration from East to West, and popular Hong Kong comics and animation titles. Besides targeting the local market, which has an annual turnover of about HKD 7 billion, many Hong Kong-made games have also made successful forays into the markets abroad with excellent results.

Mr. Gabriel Pang, Chairman of The HKDEA, said, "We are so glad to set up the ‘Online Hong Kong Pavilion’ in the ‘Taipei Game Show 2021’ despite the COVID-19 pandemic. In the Pavilion, the original games of 12 excellent Hong Kong game start-ups will be introduced in a round-the-clock manner. We expect that these game companies can have a fruitful cultural exchange online with their counterparts and meet the buyers and potential partners from other countries and regions, while providing a first-hand experience of Hong Kong’s creative original games to all the exhibitors and visitors of the ‘Taipei Game Show’."

The physical "Taipei Game Show 2021" is held from 28th to 31st January 2021 at Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1.
