BEIJING, May 20, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — iQIYI Inc. (NASDAQ: IQ) (“iQIYI” or the “Company”), the innovative market-leading online entertainment service in China, announced the upcoming launch of the Mist Theater (the “Theater”) on its platform, a new content library dedicated to suspense dramas. The Theater, an upgrade of iQIYI’s suspense drama offerings following the success of its Mystery & Suspense Theater that was launched in 2018, will focus on suspense-themed content, including a number of short drama series. The launch aims to enhance users’ viewing experience through curating a targeted content selection and offering a brand-new theater operating mode.

iQIYI Launches “Mist Theater”, New Content Library Dedicated to Suspense Dramas

As short suspense dramas, most notably led by Detective Chinatown, have embraced a new wave of enthusiasm entering 2020, iQIYI gained valuable insights into users’ growing demand for high-quality short suspense dramas. Through the Theater, the Company will stream dozens of short suspense dramas, serving as a platform of choice for fans of the genre.

iQIYI, the first video platform in China to kickstart brand operations for online drama series, launched China’s first online drama theater — Youth Theater at the iQIYI World Conference in May 2018. This helped create a dedicated community for young viewers with diversified content as well as a variety of groundbreaking interactive features. The online drama theater oversaw the release of dramas including With You, My Huckleberry Friends and Legend of Yun Xi on iQIYI’s Youth Theater, which not only catered to the different needs of viewers, but also set an example for the entertainment industry for the operations of refined online dramas, thus consolidating iQIYI’s position as the platform for “the best teen dramas”.

In the same year, iQIYI released Mystery & Suspense Theater and Hero Theater for various other genres of dramas, providing an extensive range of quality content for better viewing experiences and making it the go-to streaming platform for teens.

Through creating dedicated drama libraries, iQIYI continuously meets fans’ evolving and specific needs, making it the go-to platform for enthusiasts to find their favorite genre. Once the Theater is launched, iQIYI will periodically upgrade it to ensure suspense drama fans can continuously enjoy new thrilling, high-quality content by improving the platform’s theater mode.

HONOR Launches the HONOR Life – a Collection of Smart Home Items Including a TV

We got a very brief tease of HONOR’s very interesting TV toward the end of last year. We saw them at one of their launches. Sadly, the staff at the time said that the TV will not be coming to Malaysia.

HONOR Vision X1

This year, they introduced a new TV alongside a whole slew of smart products for your home. They introduced their new HONOR Vision X1 TV. Seeing that we did not have HONOR’s previous TV, we do not know much about it. The new HONOR Vision X1 TV though packs 8K resolution from either a 65-inch or 55-inch. We still do not know whether this will come to Malaysia or not. We are hopeful though.

It packs four 10W speakers to output super powerful and clear audio so that you do not need to spend on new soundbars or sound system. The HONOR Vision X1 also packs Motion Estimate and Motion Compensation technology to prevent blurring when upscaling happens. The Honghu 818 System on a Chip (SoC) within the TV also helps reduce display flickering. At 65-inch it sets you back RMB 3,299 (MYR 2,019) while the 55-inch HONOR Vision X1 will set you back RMB 2,299 (MYR 1,407). That is extremely cheap for an 8K TV to be fair. Let us hope that it makes it into Malaysia before the launch of Sony’s PlayStation 5.

HONOR Router 3

Exactly what it sounds like, they launched a WiFi Router. This is not just a regular router with 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands though. It is a WiFi 6+ capable router with 1.2GHz antenna. This also means that the HONOR Router 3 is one of the most advanced routers available in the market at its launch later in July 2020. Again, we do not know if that is coming into Malaysia. Still, you might be able to get them on TaoBao later.

WiFi 6 means more speed and stability. Still, once it meets a wall or two, stability drops. WiFi 6+, according to HONOR anyway, is supposed to solve that issue. With WiFi 6+ signals through the wall should still be stable enough to be useable. Whatever that is, sign me up. It is priced at RMB 219 (MYR 134).

HONOR Choice Home Appliances

They not only launched a new TV and Router for the Smart Home. They also launched a selection of home appliances. They launched an electronic toothbrush that is designed to ensure that there is no dirt build up on the device. They call it their Smart Ultra-sonic Toothbrush. I am not a big fan of electronic Toothbrush though. No prices for this yet.

Source: HONOR

They also launched a Smart Kettle, a Smart Lamp, and a Smart Humidifier. These are items that you may be able to find in the shops though. There is no mention if these smart products are compatible with WiFi connectivity for remote control or not. We do hope that is the case with these products though. They also launched a bladeless fan they call Air Multiplier. No, it is not going to add more air into the room. Like any other fan, it just helps circulate air within a room. That might be useful in the hot and humid weather that is Malaysia though.

They launched a very interesting Smart Vacuum that mimics the more popular handheld, wireless vacuum today. In the launch gambit, they took a stab at Dyson. We know the Dyson wireless vacuum is the best there is in the market. They are claiming that the HONOR Smart Vacuum is more powerful than the Dysons. It packs a 350W 100,000rpm motor with 65 minutes of battery life. Its battery life is more than enough for most homes in Malaysia. It even has ultraviolet-sterilisation cleansing system to keep your floors cleaner than it can ever be. Whether that lives up to HONOR’s hype is yet to be seen though. We do not even know when all these products comes to Malaysia, if they ever come at all.

TWS Earbuds X1

Of course, with the craze with wireless things and wireless earphones, HONOR will not miss out. They launched the HONOR TWS Earbuds X1, their very own, very new True Wireless earphones for the masses.

Its design is very familiar. That is also because it is reminiscent of Apple’s AirPod Pro. It looks like it has a shorter stem though, which also means it is smaller in profile. There is no active noise cancelling on the earbuds though. Still, you get up to 24-hours in battery life with the TWS Earbuds X1 package. We do not know how much of that is down to the case’s battery power.

The TWS Earbuds X1 is priced at RMB 169 (MYR 103). It does not seem like there are any other colour choices except for white. Still, it is affordable. There is no confirmed availability date just yet. We do expect this one to come to Malaysia though.

New Dell Latitude Devices Bank on Portability, Flexibility and Power

Dell’s Latitude line up has been on that has had its focus on empowering a mobile work force. That focus remains ever present in their newly refreshed line up. With the current global situation, Dell’s innovations have been pushed to the forefront; some of which enable a remote workforce, empowered by technological advancements that make sense for productivity.

One of the innovations that has taken centerstage for Dell is Dell’s Unified Workspace on the Latitude. The approach to having a single, unified workspace whether working remotely or in the office allows higher productivity and less downtime. In fact, users are able to access documents, files and more remotely with their Dell Latitude setups. Setup and maintenance of Dell’s Latitude is a non issue for IT departments as they are able to image new setups remotely and have peace of mind as they are able to automate and utilise AI technology to keep everything up and running.

2020 Latitudes Have the Same DNA with More Power and Personality

This year’s Latitude line up keeps the same ethos but brings along with it a whole slew of new technological advances that allow it be more versatile and enable different workflows. The new Latitude mobile workstations come with a slimmer build, the same strength and pack more of a punch. The members of the refreshed line up come with nearly bezel-less, high resolution displays, slimmer silhouettes and some even come with multimode functionality.

This year, Dell’s Latitude line up is spearheaded by the Dell Latitude 9000 series. A new, ultra premium line up which comes with more functionality for increased productivity and versatility. The new Latitude 9510 and 9410 are the built to enable a mobile workforce with multimode versatility. The new laptops come with built-in AI that learns the usage and work patterns of the user and adapts intelligently to extend battery life and even keep sensitive documents private. The AI is able to reduce the hassle of signing in with ExpressSign-in while locking the PC as soon as the user leaves the desk. Both also support stylus input with Dell’s active pen.

The Latitude 7000 series has been redesigned for a more mobile and versatile workforce. The heroes of this redesign is the detachable 2-in-1 7210, and the multimode 7310 and 7410. The thinner, lighter form factor of the Latitude 7210 allows users to be more productive on the go and even adapts for constantly moving workflows with its tablet mode. The detachable keyboard allows for more robust work when needed. The multimode 7310 and 7410 allow users to adapt on the go with light-weight, multimode form factors.

HONOR Launches New MagicBook Pro with 10th Gen Intel and NVIDIA GeForce MX350

When HONOR launched their MagicBook Pro last year, the world went a little wild. There is a good reason for that. They offered the MagicBook Pro at a price point where no one has never seen before. It was still basically a HUAWEI MateBook X Pro. It was sold at a lower price point though. That also means that it is one of the most affordable notebook PCs in its class.

The new one continues that ethos of a powerful notebook PC for not very much money. The HONOR branded premium notebook PC is still an all-aluminium bodied wonder packing plenty of power. For starters it packs Intel’s latest 10th Generation Core i7 processor (up to). Specifically, the HONOR MagicBook is powered by an Intel Core i7-10510U processor. That main CPU is supported by NVIDIA’s new GeForce MX350 GPU too.

Source: GSM Arena

Storage wise, you are getting 16GB on board RAM. That also should mean that this notebook PC should play well with Adobe’s suite of software. You get up to 512GB of storage too with the MagicBook Pro. That 512GB SSD is fast but may not be enough to keep all the high-resolution media that you might enjoy though.

You do want to put some movies and videos in there with the Full HD display that is rated at 100% sRGB. That also means images and photos would really pop on the MagicBook Pro. That display measures at 16.1-inch in size. That is quite an unusual size, but its larger display also means that you would be able to appreciate the Full HD resolution even more. It even has a performance mode when you hit the function (fn) key and the ‘P’ key on the notebook; for when you play games, they say.

The HONOR MagicBook Pro will be available in Russia September 2020 onward. For Malaysia, we can expect the HONOR MagiBook Pro to arrive somewhere in the third quarter of 2020. That guess is based on the arrival of HONOR’s previous generation MagicBook Pro. The HONOR MagicBook Pro with Intel’s Core i5 will sell for RMB 5,999 (MYR 3,668) while the Core i7 variant is available for RMB 6,699 (MYR 4,096). Those are not Malaysian prices, we know.

S2C Announces New Prodigy Cloud System for Next Generation SoC Prototyping

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 20, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — S2C, a world leader in FPGA-based prototyping solutions for accelerated SoC verification, has announced its new Prodigy Cloud System implemented with Intel’s Stratix 10 GX 10M FPGA and Xilinx’s Virtex UltraScale VU440 FPGA. S2C’s cloud based prototyping system is the logical choice for the ever more complex next generation SoC development requiring high density and scalable deployment as well as efficient productivity anywhere, anytime to shorten the validation cycle.

S2C Prodigy Cloud System
S2C Prodigy Cloud System

Highlights:

  • Scalable: Up to 2.5 billion logic gates over 32 FPGAs in single standard server rack; further expansion can be deployed via multiple interconnected server racks
  • Centralized: Fast deployment and easy maintenance
  • Remote access: Multi-user, multi-project management

SoC verification continues to face a relentless demand for more design operating cycles before silicon tapeout, while the cost of failure on advanced silicon nodes continues to spiral upward.  More functionality, more complex test data and data types, more modes of operation, all combine to challenge the traditional verification methods of simulation, formal verification, and Emulation.  Adding to the challenge is the growing requirement for early verification of hardware-dependent software, and support for multiple simultaneous users. Most advanced SoC development teams have already added FPGA prototyping to the verification mix, and prototyping has become one of the fastest growing segments of SoC design verification.

“The ability to launch a large number of design instances for FPGA prototyping, whenever and wherever it is needed, is critical for complex SoC hardware verification and software development.  The Prodigy Cloud System is the product of our deep engagements with several key customers developing the latest and largest SoCs in the world,” commented Toshio Nakama, CEO of S2C.

Glemser Technologies and Arria NLG announce strategic partnership

Together they will accelerate pharma clients’ ability to bring life-saving drugs to market through automation of medical and regulatory report writing

NEW YORK, May 20, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Arria NLG, a leading provider of Natural Language Generation (NLG) technology, today announced a collaboration with Glemser Technologies to bring scalable automation solutions and major efficiencies to healthcare and pharmaceuticals companies. Glemser will augment its global Life Sciences Practice with a Natural Language Generation solution powered by Arria technologies.

Glemser leverages Arria NLG artificial intelligence technology to dramatically accelerate clinical trial and regulatory reporting.
Glemser leverages Arria NLG artificial intelligence technology to dramatically accelerate clinical trial and regulatory reporting.

“Partnering with Arria to provide our clients with a way to automate the writing of medical and regulatory reports was a natural choice,” says Ray Glemser, CEO. “NLG allows companies to save significant time and money while increasing scalability and efficiency. Arria’s break-through technology will transform the way our customers bring life-saving drugs to market.”

For over 30 years, Glemser has served life science clients by ensuring product quality, improving regulatory compliance, and gaining operational efficiencies. Glemser understands the unique challenges pharma companies face. Bringing a drug to market can be a difficult, costly, and drawn-out process. Pharma companies consistently have to report to regulators, governments, and consumers on drug efficacy and safety. They are constantly under pressure to deliver increased transparency, accountability, and innovation in their drug-development process while staying in budget. Through strategic application of technology, Glemser is committed to helping their clients modernize their drug-development processes.

By automating some of the most time-consuming reporting — such as Clinical Safety Reports (CSRs), Compliance Reports, Adverse Event Detection, and other regulatory reports — firms can reap cost savings and free their medical writers from the tedious work that is most prone to human error. Faster reporting means they can present findings to regulatory authorities more quickly. Improved accuracy early on in the reporting process means better compliance and faster regulatory approval.

“We are in a crucial moment, given today’s world events, when pharmaceutical companies’ ability to increase efficiencies and speed to market is more important than ever,” said Sharon Daniels, CEO of Arria. “Our collaboration with Glemser is a path to expedite decision-making and time to insights for those companies working to bring life-saving treatment to patients faster.”

Introducing Crew, An Exciting New Propeller Platform Add-on That Brings Interactive Maps Into The Field

A simple tool to share up-to-date project data between the trailer and the field

DENVER, May 19, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — On May 19 2020, Propeller, a global leader in 3D mapping and drone data analytics solutions, announced a Propeller Platform add-on called Crew, a simple, data sharing tool that worksites use to relay interactive maps from desktops in office to mobile devices in the field.

The new add-on gives office teams the power to create and share interactive maps with professionals in the field using one-off links designed for mobile viewing. Each map has a unique URL that can be shared with anyone and any device.

Watch a demo video here!

This data sharing tool is designed to unify long-standing information silos with ongoing and open communication. Historically, worksites have manually prepared paper maps to keep site-based crews informed, but these maps quickly become outdated and require a specialist’s knowledge to create.

Working from outdated documents, foremen and surveyors on the ground are left to make critical decisions based on guesswork—a recipe for rework and utility strikes. Crew’s up-to-date visuals, readily available for viewing on any mobile device, give on-site personnel the confidence they need to make decisions and the power to prevent costly mistakes.

With the Crew add-on, users can:

  • Create, share, and view their latest aerial survey on any mobile device
  • Move and zoom in on specific areas of their site relative to their current location
  • Understand site setout relative to the final design
  • Turn design file layers on or off as required
  • Monitor cut and fill progress to design levels from anywhere on site
  • Identify subsurface utilities in the field to reduce strike rates
  • Draw on the map to communicate points of interest to other users in real time
  • View the elevation point for any location on site

The best part of the new add-on is its simplicity: it distributes information without requiring users to download an app or remember sign-on credentials.

Engaging with these maps also requires little or no technical knowledge. Office-based personnel just navigate to the site they’d like to share in the Propeller Platform, generate a unique URL, and send it to their in-field team using SMS, email, or any other communication tool they’d like.

After opening the link, crew members can immediately explore a geographically accurate overview of where they’re at to spot-check elevations, view volumes, stay safe, and stay informed.

By marrying maps and mobile capabilities, the Crew add-on makes collaboration an effortless part of your workflow— a single link that keeps everyone on your team connected.

About Propeller: Propeller is a global leader in 3D mapping and data analytics solutions that give worksites the power to track, map, and measure their earthwork projects. Propeller’s innovative hardware and software products solve real problems for real people. With visual tools everyone can use, Propeller is helping teams on thousands of worksites track, inspect, and report on job progress and productivity safely and accurately.
