ZTE Smartphone Shipment Increase 42 Percent in Third Quarter
ZTE is a communications manufacturer based on China. Some of their products range include modems, routers and network adapters. Of course, not to forget they make smartphones too. For a while they have been struggling with sales and of course a year ago with one or two accusations made in the United States making it harder for them to move devices into the country due to low demand. This year though they swing back to launch a few new products and slimming their device offerings. They are more focused this year and that paid off.
ZTE has increased its quarter three shipments by 42 percent this year compared to last year. This is mostly thanks to the 40 point jump in the United States market. ZTE also reported that the 42 percent increase is also contributed by three devices in ZTE’s line up; the Star Series, ZMAX and Nubia Z7. The Star Series, the most successful device they have so far have sold over one million units worldwide. The ZMAX and Nubia Z7 though not yet as successful is also approaching one million in shipments worldwide. The Nubia reportedly made headlines in China by doubling up its sales this quarter, though there are no official numbers to confirm that story, it just shows how much ZTE has grown in the market space.
In the United States as well ZTE is now the second largest prepaid phone manufacturer. That is also helped by the fact that this year alone showed about 15 percent of improvement in shipments globally compared to last year. More interestingly ZTE is an official partner to three NBA teams.
