The Android smartphone with two displays, the YotaPhone has finally landed in Malaysia. The device sports a 4.3 inch 720p LCD display on the front and a 4.3 inch E-ink display on the bank. The launched device is the first generation variant that is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor mated with 2GB of RAM. The YotaPhone sports 32 GB worth of internal storage as well as LTE and a 13 megapixel rear camera. It is powered by a 1800 mAh battery and runs on Android 4.2.2.
The unique selling point of the YotaPhone is the back of the phone which is basically a second display that show virtually anything from your appointments, notifications, GoogleMaps and text messages. It doesn’t go blank or turn off so it’s an easy access organizer and updater. The e-ink display has a quite a few apps dedicated to it including TeachMe, a language and phrase learning app; Organizer; InternetHub, a social media and RSS manager app.
The SDK is open for developers who want to create more apps to make use of this special back display that can even be read if the sun is too bright.
