Xiaomi to Update Mi Devices with Lollipop
Xiaomi is looking to make a name for itself globally and a step towards this is by breaking the general rule that Chinese manufacturers usually are slow in getting the latest software updates to their products.
How is the Apple of Asia planning on doing this? In a sit down interview with Hugo Barra, it was revealed that Xiaomi has listed Lollipop as its number one priority. The company is focusing on upgrading its gadgets to the latest version of Android – Android 5.0.
The company’s higher end devices will be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update as an MIUI 6 update by the first quarter of next year. Not to worry, the RedMi series will be getting the update as well but an exact timeline has not been announced.
Xiaomi is even looking to join the Android One platform as well. The company is quite interested in joining such an endeavor but this however, is something that isn’t that big of priority as of now. The Chinese tech tycoon is looking to push 4G handsets in India first. According to Xiaomi, it’s all about the timing – everything in due time.
