Chinese tech tycoon, Xiaomi is looking to open a manufacturing facility in India. Manu Jain, the man heading the company in India explained to the Wall Street Journal in an interview that Xiaomi’s legal team were investigating the regulatory hurdles involved in setting up a manufacturing plant in the country.
It is going to take at least half a year for Xiaomi to estimate whether a new manufacturing facility in India is feasible. Thanks to a partnership with Flipkart, the company has sold over half a million smartphones through traditional XiaoMi flash sales. Most of the sales only lasted 5 seconds! The company is doing so good that the complaints are saying that the vendor is meeting up to demand. A factory would clearly solve this problem.
Xiaomi is attempting to move into the international market and has taken the first step by planning to move international user data and cloud services out of China to become more accessible to consumers.
