Xiaomi fans in Malaysia, rejoice! The Chinese giant has finally announced that their Redmi 2 smartphone will be in Malaysia soon!
Redmi 2 was announced just early this year – it’s an entry-level device powered with the updated 64-bit 1.2GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 410 processor. It is also packed with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory that is expandable. The rear camera packs an 8MP with f2.2 and 5-element lens that was also spotted on the previous mode, Redmi. The front camera is upgraded to a 2MP camera that is able to shoot in 720p HD videos. This Redmi 2 also has QuickCharge charging technology – allowing users to have rapid charging that is sped up by 40% normal times, along with a removable 2,200mAh capacity battery.
As compared to the Redmi, Redmi 2 is much more compact, lighter, as well as thinner. The Redmi 2 is only 133g and 9.4mm in thickness, whilst the predecessor is 158g and 9.9mm. The screen bears a 4.7-inch display with 720p IPS HD display – it’s similar to the Redmi 1S & dual sim 4G LTE support. The device will run on Android 4.4 KitKat on the go, along with Xiaomi’s new user interface, MIUI 6.
Apparently, there is an enhanced version, with double the RAM and internal storage. But it doesn’t seem like Malaysia will be getting it just yet. Xiaomi also said they won’t be bringing their latest additions to their family, the Mi 4 and Note to Malaysia just yet. Well, seems like we need to wait a little longer before we get the good things. As they say, good things come to those who wait!
By the way, the Redmi 2 will be sold at retail price of RM449. The sales started 17th March 2015 at 12 noon at their website (http://www.mi.com/my)! Xiaomi fans, take note!
