A report from Reuters has claimed that Samsung in negotiations to buy Blackberry for USD$7.5 billion. It seems that the tech giant is particularly interested in Blackberry’s patent portfolio. However, the company didn’t put in a bid of a USD$7.5 billion flat rate. It actually offered to buy individual shares for USD$13.35 to USD$15.49 per share unit. This is a premium of about 38% to 60% of BlackBerry’s current share price.
Blackberry has been struggling to keep a name for itself and failed at many attempts at manufacturing a successful smartphone with some American carriers even passing up on carrying their products. It’s no wonder Samsung is taking opportunity to swoop in and offer to buy it over. In a way, this may be the only chance to save a dying company. The buy over however, is just a rumor. Once confirmed, we will be sure to let you guys know!
