Going cashless is all the rave right now with e-Wallet apps popping up in the marketspace like mushrooms. However, the value of an e-Wallet is heavily dependent on where users are able to use it and how much value it can bring to the users.
That said, one of the most aggressive e-Wallets in the market is Boost. The Axiata backed e-Wallet has been aggressively expanding their reach by forging partnerships with merchants, brands and even every day convenience stores. The latest merchant to jump on the bandwagon: Watsons.
“Watsons is extremely excited to be partnering up with Boost to provide our customers with the ease of walking into any of our Watsons outlets without having to worry about having physical cash when paying. Furthermore, Boost is also an available payment option when shopping at Watsons online store too.”Caryn Loh, Managing Director of Watsons Malaysia
The partnership sees Boost being adopted in over 500 Watsons outlets across Malaysia. The partnership also sees Boost users who are Watsons members get a huge extra 8x rewards points with their shopping should they use the e-Wallet. This offer is valid from 15th January, 2019, until 4th March, 2019. The reward will come on top of Boost’s signature Shake cashback reward which rewards customers for every transaction on the e-Wallet app.
In addition to the new partnership with Watsons, Boost also brings a new “Go Dutch” feature which allows users to split the bill when using the e-wallet. This feature complements the many features that are already built-in to the Boost app including paying for parking, utility bills and more.
“Boost has seen over five times (5X) growth in users since a year ago. The adoption rate is very encouraging and today we have over 3.5 million users in Malaysia who have chosen to go cashless with our e-wallet. At the same time, we also continue to partner other strong brands like Watsons to bring more convenience and a richer customer experience for users who are increasingly embracing a digital lifestyle. Today, we have over 60,000 online and offline merchant touchpoints nationwide where customers can use their Boost e-wallets ”Mohd Khairil Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Axiata Digital Services
Boost is one of the first e-wallet apps in Malaysia which has been adopted by over 3.5 million users. The e-wallet was also adopted as the primary means of payment in UiTM campuses not too long ago.
