The United States International Trade Agency (US ITC) will commence investigations on Nvidia. The investigation comes after South Korean tech tycoon, Samsung filed a complaint last month alleging that Nvidia infringed its patents revolving around the graphics chip technology it had.
Samsung filed for this complaint in response to Nvidia’s original complaint against the company. The court battle started way before in federal district courts located in Delaware and Virginia. Nowadays, companies choose to file complaints with ITC instead of opting for a court hearing due to the fact that it might be a faster route and speed equals saving cost. And the result from such an application might be exactly what the parties want as compared to the monetary damages you would get in court. If the complaint is successful, the ITC will be able to band the import of the infringing products into America.
The war between Samsung and Nvidia rages on! Earlier on in the year, Nvidia filed lawsuits against Qualcomm and Samsung for infringing seven patents the company owns. It seems that the battle will be dragged well into the new year.
