Trip.com Group’s travel content marketing gears up for 2022

MACAO, Dec. 17, 2021 — Trip.com Group, a leading global travel service provider, hosted its 2021 Global Partner Summit in Macao where the travel Group shared the performance results and future plans of its content marketing pivot launched earlier this year.

In 2020, with the impact of the pandemic continuing to be felt across the travel industry, Trip.com Group began expanding its content offering, and upgraded this approach in March 2021 with the launch of its content marketing strategy. It focused on increasing and enhancing engagement between travellers and partners inspiring user travel. Largely centred on the sub-brand Ctrip platform to date, the content pivot has informed a Group-wide approach that also been implemented on the Group’s Trip.com platform.

In a keynote presentation at the Global Partner Summit, Bo Sun, CMO of Trip.com Group, shared with the audience that the two key pillars of user growth and traffic growth have guided the strong performance of the Group’s content marketing push. Over the past year, the amount of content traffic on Ctrip has doubled, with a 100% increase in the total amount of published content and a 200% year-on-year increase in the number of signed traveller content creators on the platform.

Commenting on the rich content ecosystem developed on the platform, Sun said "The comprehensive marketing toolkit available on our Ctrip platform empowers partners to achieve more with their offering. By better connecting products and partners we are optimizing user engagement, inspiring more travellers and generating increased traffic." This year, Ctrip content accumulated over 220 million user views with 35% of unique users regularly browsing content hosted on the platform. In addition to the vast exposure generated for partners, up to 30% of users placed an order within one month of viewing content.

Core to this strategy has been the building out of marketing products, tools and channels to empower partners to increase traffic and drive sales. Ctrip’s livestreaming platform has hosted over 3,000 partners who have presented over 10,000 livestream sessions showcasing their products and promotions. To further generate engagement, Ctrip rolled out a series of campaign days that spotlight specific partner destinations, brands, offers and more to boost brand and product recognition as well as sales.

Sun, who announced the launch of Star Hub in May, shared the benefits seen by the over 260 destination, hotel and attraction partners who have established their own Star Hub channels. Star Hub channels are dedicated partner channels where partners can share products, promotions, host content and engage directly with users. Evidencing the advantages Star Hub channels can bring, the Trip.com Group CMO noted that a user who follows a partner Star Hub channel has a 20% higher repurchase rate and is 300% more likely to visit the channel than a non-follower user.

At the Summit, Sun concluded by acknowledging the fruitful results Trip.com Group’s content marketing strategy has achieved whilst faced with the uncertainty of the global travel market, and that the Group will continue to build out the marketing toolkit available to partners in 2022.

CES Innovation Award Honoree total pet healthcare app ‘TTcare’ to be introduced in Las Vegas

SEOUL, South Korea, Dec. 9, 2021 — AI FOR PET will participate in ‘CES(Consumer Electronics Show)’, the world’s largest technology exhibition held in Las Vegas from Jan. 5 (THU) to Jan. 8 (SAT) 2022.

AI FOR PET has developed an AI technology-based total pet healthcare app service, TTcare. Users only need their mobile phone and the TTcare app to take care of their pets’ health. When a user takes a picture of their pet’s eyes or any part of their body with a smartphone, the artificial intelligence will inform them whether or not there are any potential eye or skin disease-related symptoms. In addition to diagnostic features, there is weight management, behavior analysis, and other features.  These features allow users to manage their pet based on breed, age and disease history.

TTcare will be introduced at CES
TTcare will be introduced at CES

AI FOR PET began developing TTcare based on a research study "CNN-based diagnosis models for canine ulcerative keratitis" published in the 2019 Scientific Report journal. By learning major body parts such as the eyes, ears, feet and other parts of pets, the algorithm automatically detects and optimizes the areas to analyze. It crops them and determines whether they may have a potential disease using various neural network algorithm-based ensemble models.

TTcare is the first smartphone application in the world to determine whether a disease exists by using pictures of pets’ eyes or skin. TTcare is also the first product to be officially approved by the Korean government for "Artificial Intelligence-based medical device software for animals" rather than a general pet service. By being selected as a CES 2022 Innovation Award Honoree, TTcare’s technology and innovation has received validation.

TTcare was selected as a CES 2022 Innovation Award Honoree
TTcare was selected as a CES 2022 Innovation Award Honoree

TTcare prevents disease deterioration and health complications in pets, thus reducing medical expenses due to unnecessary hospital visits. It will also recognize and manage neglected diseases in advance as most pet owners do not have an expertise in pet diseases.

The CES Euna Huh said, "Our app supports the identification of diseases and periodic health care from the comfort of the user’s home, so that pets and pet owners can live a healthy life together for a long time."

AI FOR PET launched TTcare in late 2020 in Korea and plans to launch an English service in the first half of 2022 to service pet parents around the world.

53 million additional cases of depression raises concern about gaps in healthcare delivery

According to a study on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental disorders by Dr. Damian F. Santomauro and his colleagues at the University of Queensland, Australia, (published in online Lancet journal), the number of patients with major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders increased by more than 53 million and 76 million, respectively, with higher rates among women and young people. According to the Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) MAP published by the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), the availability of mental health services across the U.S. varies from region to region, with most regions meeting less than 50% of the demand for mental health services, which is inadequate.

Addressing regional disparities by enhancing treatment effectiveness with VR-facilitated treatment

Using VR technology in the treatment of depression can be a significant adjunct to enhance treatment effectiveness by allowing the patient to have a more realistic experience. Patients are able to immerse themselves almost "in vivo" in a VR environment and experience "first- hand" typical situations that are relevant to depressed patients. They identify with the characters in the scenes being able to take multiple subjective positions in the situations that are displayed. Watching the characters in the scenes express their thoughts and perspectives from a distanced position, can help patients reflect on their own thoughts and perspectives in similar situations in their lives. Enhancing the effectiveness of available treatments for depression can help alleviate the burden associated with the increasing demand for adequate mental health services worldwide.

<Comments from the professional consultants>

Dr. Kim Larsson and Dr. Amaro Laria joined the Jolly Good VRDTx project as professional consultants in 2021. They are the co-founders and co-directors of Boston Behavioral Medicine, LLC in Boston, MA, USA. Dr. Larsson is a graduate of Boston College School of Nursing, and a former supervisor at Cambridge Health Alliance, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Laria is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Boston and a current Clinical Instructor in the Psychiatry Department of Cambridge Health Alliance, Harvard Medical School. They have expertise in behavioral medicine and currently run a training program.

"VRDTx can help improve quality and effectiveness in treating depression, which in turn can alleviate some of the burden associated with regional disparities in the US."
Katharine "Kim" Larsson, PhD, RN, CS
Co-founder & Clinical Director
Boston Behavioral Medicine, LLC

"The COVID-19 pandemic has limited social interactions causing many to become isolated, which has significantly fueled levels of depression and anxiety. In turn, being depressed and anxious causes people to become more isolated, which impacts negatively on their functioning. VR technology can be an important adjunct for psychotherapists in the treatment of depression. "

"I foresee that VR technology will become more routine in the treatment of mental health conditions, and will represent an important clinical tool for psychotherapists to enhance the effectiveness of their treatments. Given the increasing demand for services and serious shortage of mental health clinicians, enhancing the effectiveness of our current treatments for depression will be essential in addressing this global mental health crisis."

<Dr. Larsson’s Biography>

Dr. Katherine "Kim" Larsson is a doctoral level licensed clinical specialist, who has practiced as a psychotherapist and psycho-pharmacologist for over 20 years. Dr. Larsson underwent clinical training at McLean Hospital and The Cambridge Hospital, both teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School. She is former Assistant Director of the Behavioral Medicine Program at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Boston, and a former supervisor in the Behavioral Medicine Program at Cambridge Health Alliance, Harvard Medical School. She has carried out international work in Japan as a lecturer and consultant, helping to promote the development of behavioral medicine approaches among nurses and mental health clinicians.

"VRDTx can allow depressed patients to immerse themselves in real life situations, which can significantly enhance the effectiveness of their treatments"
Amaro J. Laria, PhD
Co-founder & Training Director, Boston Behavioral Medicine, LLC
Faculty / Clinical Supervisor, Psychiatry Department, Cambridge Health Alliance, Harvard Medical School

"VR technology brings an experiential and interactive element into the therapy room. It’s an important complement to the ‘talking’ element in psychotherapy, and it results in a more balanced and comprehensive treatment. For example, if a patient is talking about their lack of motivation, the therapist can invite them to reflect on a scene they watched in a VR session, which provides a more vivid and concrete illustration of what the lack of motivation may look like in real life.

Moreover, watching a realistic scene in a VR environment may trigger a particular memory of a similar situation in their own lives, which will allow them to process this material in their talking therapy. VRDTx can also facilitate the process of learning strategies like self-monitoring and cognitive restructuring, which are core to cognitive-behavioral therapy, by providing a role play opportunity through a realistic illustration in VR. It can also be a good replacement for in-vivo exposure, especially in situations in which it’s difficult to recreate real life exposure situations.

<Dr. Laria’s Biography>

Dr. Amaro Laria is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist. He uses a patient-centered integrative approach that highlights the centrality of the therapeutic relationship and the role of emotions in treatment. Dr. Laria is director of the Boston Behavioral Medicine Training Program, and holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School through his affiliation with the Department of Psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance. He obtained his PhD in clinical psychology at University of Massachusetts Boston in 1997, and was a NIMH post-doctoral research fellow in the Social Medicine Department at Harvard Medical School. He served as advisor on cultural issues to the DSM-5 workgroup on anxiety disorders.

VR therapeutics for depression https://jollygood.co.jp/vrdtx/en )

VRDTx was developed by Jolly Good and is based on basic principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy ("CBT"), adapting CBT strategies to a VR environment. This treatment strategy allows patients to experience "realistic role play" situations that are typical of many individuals suffering from depression. The experiential quality of this treatment tool can make treatment more relevant to patients, which in turn can significantly enhance treatment effectiveness.

Highlight 1: Pragmatism – focusing on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, highlighting the "Belt and Road" initiative, and promoting international and domestic dual circulation

TDB Zone is the first "information technology" trade exchange event hosted by the Ministry of Commerce in Macao. Exhibitors are mainly technological innovation enterprises with import and export trade businesses in the Mainland and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. To further help enterprises develop the merchant resources in countries along the "Belt and Road", the organizer has invited representatives of their foreign institutions in China and trade associations of relevant countries to participate in the event, and also invited foreign guests to interact through online live broadcast. In addition, "Brands Going Global Along Belt and Road" exchange & matchmaking meetings of electronics and information technology business procurement took place during the exhibition. A total of more than 150 domestic and foreign professional buyers were invited to attend to conduct business matchmaking with exhibitors through on-site communications.

In this regard, the person in charge of organizing said: "It is China’s national policy to promote the Belt and Road Initiative and the dual circulation of domestic and foreign countries. The Ministry of Commerce hopes to establish a dual-circulation pattern domestically and abroad that is based in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and to help domestic and foreign distributors, purchasers and end users to have in-depth contact with one another, taking advantage of the geographic advantage of Macao, expanding the regional market, penetrating into the science and technology industries of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and exploring the strength of new innovations in development. "

Highlight 2: Small and medium-sized enterprises – "professional, specialized, exceptional and innovative" to support the power of export

The exhibitors in TDB Zone are mainly small and medium-sized enterprises, all from cities where technological innovation is prevalent, such as Beijing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Shanghai and other regions. Although these enterprises are still quite young, the teams are strong and have made great contributions to the expanding to the overseas markets. According to the organizer, most of the participating companies have independent R&D laboratories, employ a large number of top scholars, and own scientific research projects that have won a number of domestic and foreign science and technology awards. Among them there are many black technology companies such as Babel Technology, Prudent Energy Inc., Pachira and so on.

"As the organizer of the event, we feel very optimistic because of this event. Although the exhibition has been postponed twice due to the pandemic, this has not affected the enthusiasm of the companies to prepare for the exhibition. As a matter of fact, all companies put a lot of efforts into the event, from preparing products to the exhibition arrangement – everything was carefully selected with a lot of thoughts, trying to show the best to audiences in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao as well as overseas. This also implies everyone’s confidence in China to create a dual circulation." The staff said.

Highlight 3: 5G+AI – technological innovation brings infinite possibilities

The exhibitions are of a wide variety, ranging from invisible smart solutions to tangible field robots, from network security to emergency communication equipment, from chips to smart home appliances, covering every aspect of current relevant technology.

Infervision is an artificial intelligence medical technology company. The "screening, diagnosis, treatment, management, and research" medical full-process intelligent solutions displayed at the exhibition cover lungs, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular, breast, bone and joints and other parts and organs. It is also the world’s first and only AI medical technology company to obtain regulatory approvals in China, the United States, the European Union, and Japan.

"There are many companies in the exhibition that are actively expanding in overseas markets like Infervision," a staff said. "Facing the normalization of life with pandemic management, companies will also further adjust the way they go overseas to acquire customers. We believe in the advantages of Macao as a SAR and its beneficial policies that will create more room for development in this regard. I encourage and welcome everyone to follow the development of Macao."

The International Technology Innovation Expo (BEYOND EXPO) TDB Zone will be held at Venetian Macao Convention and Exhibition Centre on December 2nd -4th. We look forward to meeting friends who are interested in the information technology industry for on-sight exchanges and interactions.

Addressing Global Challenges through Openness and Trust in Tech

SHENZHEN, China, Dec. 2, 2021 — Today, Huawei held its TrustInTech Summit 2021 online, under the theme of "Global Collaboration for Shared Value."

Leaders from across the globe attended the event, including Neil Bush, Chairman of the George H.W. Bush Foundation for US-China Relations, Pascal Lamy, Former WTO Director General, 2018 Economics Nobel Prize winner William Nordhaus, ASEAN Deputy Secretary General H.E. Satvinder Singh, NASA Solar System Ambassador Derrick Pitts, and Hou Jinlong, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of Huawei Digital Power.

Attendees acknowledged that humanity has entered an era in which interests, fates, and futures are all intertwined, and called for coordinated efforts to address common challenges. "We need to mitigate de-globalization, in order to avoid making this world a worse place," Pascal Lamy noted.

Today, fighting climate change is a mission that is shared worldwide, with many countries having announced low-carbon pledges. William Nordhaus said that governments should increase investment in low-carbon technologies and research.

Hou Jinlong further expanded, "By pursuing innovations in clean power generation, energy digitalization, transportation electrification, green ICT infrastructure, and integrated smart energy, we are working with global customers and partners to build low-carbon homes, factories, campuses, villages, and cities."

As of September 30, 2021, Huawei Digital Power has helped customers generate 443.5 billion kWh of green power and save 13.6 billion kWh of electricity. This is equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 210 million tons and planting 290 million trees.

Participants warned that geopolitics should not stand in the way of technological cooperation and innovation. Neil Bush expressed his concerns about growing global decoupling, "Many are embracing a dangerous zero-sum mentality that defies common sense. China’s success does not take away from ours, and vice versa." He added, "Particularly in the area of technology, when China and the United States collaborate, we can innovate in foundational and revolutionary ways."

International research cooperation has yielded scientific advances. Dr. Derrick Pitts noted the collaboration of seven countries in the International Brain Initiative, the Thirty Meter Telescope, and several other international scientific research cooperation projects. He highlighted that science flourishes best in a climate that encourages diversity and cross-domain partnerships.

Satvinder Singh delivered the closing remarks at the summit, speaking highly of the key role that private companies like Huawei play in inclusive and sustainable economic recovery across ASEAN and beyond.
