Last but not least, do make sure that there is sufficient amount in your ShopeePay wallet to avoid last-minute top-ups.
Xiaomi Malaysia has taken the covers off two new entry level devices: the Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C. The two new devices join the Redmi 9 announced earlier this month. They expand the Redmi line up with even more affordable, entry level devices which come in at a sub MYR500 price point.
Both entry level Xiaomi Redmi devices come with 6.53-inch HD+ Dot Drop displays with 400 nit brightness and certification from TUV Rheinland for Low Blue Light. The 9A and 9C are both powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging. Both come with a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, that’s where the similarities end.
Xiaomi’s Redmi 9C is the more supped up of the two new devices coming with a triple camera setup and a slightly more powerful MediaTek Helio G35 octacore processor. The camera setup consists of a 13-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. These specifications are supported by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard memory expandable with up to 512GB of additional memory via a microSD card. The 9C also a fingerprint sensor for quick unlocking.
The Redmi 9A comes with a less powerful, octacore MediaTek Helio G25. It comes with a single camera setup with a 13-megapixel sensor. It supports AI face unlock and will be coming with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Similar to the 9C, it supports up to 512GB of additional storage space via the use of a microSD card.
Pricing & Availability
The Redmi 9A will be available starting on July 7, 2020 as part of the annual 7.7 sale on both LAZADA and Shopee for a special first sale price of MYR319. After which it will be available in stores starting on 14 July, 2020 for MYR359. The 9A will be available in Granite Gray, Peacock Green and Sky Blue
The Redmi 9C will be available for MYR429 in Midnight Gray, Sunrise Orange and Twilight Blue starting the end of July 2020.

eCommerce is growing in Malaysia with an increasing number of Malaysians opting to shop online when it comes to getting their daily needs and essentials. In fact, Shopee reports that users have been spending about 20% more time on their platform on a weekly basis. The increase, spurred by the recent movement control order (MCO), indicates that consumers are increasingly more willing to shop online.
As more consumers turn to online platforms, it provides a golden opportunity for Shopee and its partners to incentivise their platforms. Working together with one of Malaysia’s largest banks, Maybank, Shopee Malaysia and Visa have launched a new platinum credit card. The new Maybank Shopee Credit Card will reward users with Shopee coins for every transaction online and offline. Users will also receive extra bonuses such as 5x the coins during Shopee’s monthly payday sales on the 28th of every month and 4x Shopee coins for dining, entertainment and contactless payments.
Cardholders can then use these coins on Shopee to offset future purchases and redeem vouchers including F&B and services from the Daily Coins Rewards feature on the App. What’s more, cardholders who rack up more than 5,000 coins will be rewarded with Maybank TreatsPoints which they can use to redeem gifts from Maybank.
Malaysians between 21 and 65 years of age can apply for the card beginning on July 1, 2020. Applicants will need to have an annual income of MYR36,000. The card comes with a lifetime annual waiver. Successful applicants will receive 5,000 Shopee coins when they spend MYR300 within their first 60 days.
The new credit card comes just ahead of Shopee’s annual 7.7 mid year sale which kicks off on 7 July. As such, early adopters who successfully apply for the card from 1 July to 7 July will be rewarded with Shopee Vouchers worth MYR500 when they spend MYR300 within their first 45 days. The limited offer can be redeemed on a first come, first served basis.
The mid year sale also brings 50% coins cashback for all Shopee users on a daily basis. Users can also win up to 7 million coins by playing Shopee Claw, Shopee Candy, Shopee Garden, Shopee Poly, Shopee Dance and more during the sale period. Shopee’s Shocking Sale also makes a return with deals from as low as MYR0.77 during the 7 July Sale.
The whole Movement Control Order situation in Malaysia means that none of us can step out to get to work. Well, not all of us anyway. The essential services are still up and running. Services like restaurants, groceries, certain workshops, obviously clinics and hospitals; they are all running.
There is another service that is still running though. Something that we take for granted sometimes. That service is the delivery service. Without these guys, we would not have anything getting to us at these trying times.
That also means while you cannot go out to do your usual window shopping or casual shopping, you can still shop at home. In fact, tomorrow is Shopee’s 4.4 Brands Festival. While you cannot go out to shop, you can shop from Shopee in this case.
We all know that shopping online is sometimes better than going to the regular bricks and mortar shops. You get better deals, you do not have to step out of home, and you get your things delivered directly to you. At the same time, you get a plethora of choices when you go online shopping.
For Shopee’s 4.4 Brands Festival that has been going on from 20th March 2020 onward to 4th April 2020, you get even better deals than usual. The finale, that is happening tomorrow (4th April 2020) is the big one. You get even better deals than the deals that you are getting used to since 20th March 2020, especially for gadgets.
For us to list down and elaborate on everything is a little bit of a drag though. So, you can check out below for the full list of things that Shopee has in store for you. We are just going to give you highlights of the products we think is worth checking out.
Smartphones
There are some very interesting offers from Shopee for the Brand Festival here. We think that the best deal you might get here is the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite that retails for MR 2,699. For tomorrow only, you can get your hands on one for MYR 1,999. While he Oneplus 7T is very tempting with an MYR 400 discount for the 4th April 2020, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite packs flagship like specs with just minor disadvantages compared to the likes of the Galaxy S20. From our review, we think that it is a stellar smartphone. The biggest issue we had with it is the price, which is remedied by Shopee at least.
Sometimes, your life is never really complete without good music accompanying you. Music is a big part of all our lives. Every season can be described with a tune. There are a few very interesting, very new products here including the Apple AirPods Pro that is selling for only MYR 999 tommorrow. We think that the winner here is the Audio-Technica ATH-M40X headphones though. Yes, you need to get an adapter for smartphones that does not come with 3.5mm jack. We still think that wired is the best way to enjoy your tunes at home though. From a retail price of MYR 560, it is now MYR 260; less than half the usual price. If that is not a good deal, we do not know what is.

In terms wearable items, we have been quite a loyalist to a certain brand. Not because we are fanboys over the brand. We just like the wearable products they produce. I doubt it is a secret that we think that Samsung’s wearable offerings in the market is the best one we have seen on Android devices. They are good value for money, since they are not sold at the price or the Garmins. The Tizen Wear OS is smooth, intuitive, simple to operate. Their battery life is always longer than what we can find on conventional Android wearable devices.

That is why we think that the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a winner here. Which one in particular? That is really your preference. Aluminium tends to be lighter. Stainless steel has a nicer finish and quality feel to it. Durability wise, I think both are quite similar. It now depends on your budget and preference.

You might think that you do not need anything more than your own smartphone as a camera. In most cases, that can be true. Your smartphone cameras can do much these days that you start wondering; “why would you buy another separate camera”? We will tell you why tough.
Source: Insta 360
Purpose built cameras are built to a certain purpose. Like the action camera that we picked out of this box right here; the Insta360 G0 action camera. This is really great, you get a wide angle lens camera that you can stick to your shirt, strap on your head, or wherever you fancy really and it will not be a distraction because it is so small. Our good friend over in Philippines has one and she loves it.
When it comes to completing your devices, you always think of some accessories that would fit your lifestyle. It is hard to pick and choose here because everyone has different priorities and preferences in choosing what is right for them. For us, we might really go for the Xiaomi Mi Smart Robot Vacuum Cleaner just because it just helps with our work process. We just need to let it occasionally run around the office, clean it, and voila, you have a clean home or office.
There are plenty more deals from Shopee for the 4.4 Brands Festival. Acer, for example is giving out more than 25% in discounts and vouchers on Shopee. From their Shopee store, you get to own monitors from as low as MYR 233. Need 4K resolution? There is a 43-inch 4K display that is available for MYR 1,269 only on Shopee’s 4.4 Brands Festival. If you fancy a new work-from-anywhere notebook, the new Acer Swift 5 is offered with MYR 420 off its retail price.
All these are going to be on sale tomorrow on the 4th April 2020. From 12.00 a.m. to 2.00 a.m., you get to enjoy free shipping if you purchase more than MYR 8 worth of items. For the rest of the day, a minimum spend of MYR 16 will get you free shipping. For more information and other things, maybe even essentials, you can head over to Shopee’s website, or app. The Shopee app is available for free on both Android and iOS via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store respectively.
OPPO has been known for its budget friendly, value-for-money devices. Over the years also, they have been known as photography masters with their devices. Okay, they have not been topping the photography benchmarks until now with the OPPO Find X2 Pro. Still, we have always liked and OPPO budget smartphone. We like their entry-level and mid-range offers because they are actually quality products. They are well made, and they work well for what you are paying. They feel optimised.
Smartphones have gotten more expensive these days. This is
also consistent with OPPO’s offerings over the years. Occasionally though, there
is a device that just goes back to basics. For OPPO, that device is the OPPO
A91 that is just launched today.
No, there is no big launch gambit. If you are not updated
just yet, Malaysia is now under lock down order from the government. Non-essential
services and businesses are supposed to be closed and we are all force to work
from home. Thank goodness for the Internet.
Source: OPPO
The OPPO A91 is a basic entry-level device at MYR 999. Despite
the price though, it looks like a premium OPPO device. It is finished on both
sides with glass, so it will also feel premium. If other smartphones from OPPO
is any indication, the OPPO A91 should be a quality hardware too.
There is nothing to shout about when it comes to its processing
power, a MediaTek Helio P70 Octa-core System on a Chip (SoC). It is what you
commonly find on budget smartphones. It is still an adequately powerful SoC
though. You get 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage too, which is quite plenty for
the price you pay.
Those things power up the Android 9.1 based ColorOS 6.1
projected to a 6.4-inch display. No, not a 720P HD display. You get a Full HD+
AMOLED display protected underneath a Gorilla Glass 5. You even get an
in-display fingerprint sensor. All of this is powered by a 4,025 mAh battery
that also comes with VOOC 3.0 charging to fully charge your device from an
empty battery to full in an hour.
Source: OPPO
The biggest upsell of the OPPO A91 though is its camera. You
do not only get two lenses, not even three. You get four lenses point out the
back of the device. It features a 48-Megapixel main shooter that is partnered
with an 8-Megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, 2-Megapixel monochrome sensor, and a
2-Megapixel depth sensor. No telephoto lens to be found here. The ultra-wide
lens can focus and capture images from a minimum distance of 3cm.
The camera software packs the usual AI beauty mode or AI scenes
for an optimised photo. You also get the Night Portrait mode in this device for
all your low-light shoots. Video is steadier than ever with the built-in Electronic
Image Stabilisation (EIS).
The OPPO A91 entry-level smartphone is available now for MYR
999 on OPPO’s official stores on Shopee
and Lazada.
From now to 26th of March, the OPPO A91 is now on sale for only MYR
899. Of course, terms and conditions apply.
After the whole hoo-ha at MWC, OPPO too had delayed their launching of the OPPO Find X2 to a later date. But it did not take them long to set a new date for their launch. The OPPO Find X2 will be launched on March 6 possibly alongside with the OPPO watch.
But wait! The specifications have been leaked, you say? The OPPO Find X2 has been spotted for sale on SouthEast Asian eCommerce site, Shoppe. The listing of the OPPO Find X2 is listed by OPPO’s official Vietnam Store with a price at 40 million Vietnamese Dong which translates to MYR 7,310 and USD 1,724 which is quite steep, considering. But we will have to wait and see the pricing once it is revealed.
Other details immediately found on the listing is that it will come with 8GB of RAM paired to 256GB of storage. There will also be two different colour options that are in Vietnamese which we did not understand but with the power of Google Translate, we manage to get something out of it. The two colours are Ocean Blue and Blue Night Sea which we assume is green with a blue hue colour and the second colour would be black with a blue hue to it.

Scrolling further down we will find a screen size of 6.5 inches with reports of a possible 120Hz refresh rate with 240Hz sampling rate. Which will be exciting especially for intense games such as PUBG and Mobile Legends. But that’s not all, the Find X2 will feature a 3K display according to a tweet from Brian Shen who is OPPO’s VP and President of Global Marketing. This means that the display would likely have a 3,000 x 2,000 pixel resolution.
Source: Arun Maini
To capture the moments, the Oppo Find X2 comes with a triple rear camera set up consisting of a 48-Megapixel main camera, an 8-Megapixel and a 13-Megapixel sensor. The rear cameras are said to be using a periscope lens that is able to have a digital zoom of up to 60x. The front of the phone, on the other hand, has a 32-Megapixel camera. There are rumours that the phone would be coming with a 44-Megapixel punch-hole dual front camera instead though.
To power up all these fancy features of the phone, the battery comes with a 4,065 mAh capacity. 4,065 mAh isn’t exactly large these days but it should still be a decent amount for you to last throughout the day. All this power will be powering the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor that will be 5G ready. Of course, it will be using Type-C connector. It does not seem to have a 3.5mm headphone jack, bummer. We are taking all these things with a pinch of salt though. We can only confirm the final specs of the OPPO Find X2 when it launches on the 6th March, 2020.
February is here, Chinese New Year has gone, and Chap Go Mei just passed, and we look forward to the next big thing in our calendars; the 14th of February, Valentine’s Day. We first thought to go into a little bit of the history of Valentine’s Day. We then thought that that will be boring.
We also though of going through the history of cosmetics and then Elizabeth Arden as a brand. Then we also thought otherwise. We will have no clue what they are talking about. All we think you need to know is that cosmetics have existed for more than 1,000 years in the land of Egypt. Elizabeth Arden has also existed for about 110 years now.
Source: Elizabeth Arden
If you know cosmetics, you would know that Elizabeth Arden is one of the more premium cosmetic brands in the market. If you do not know cosmetics; there is the information for you. They make a bunch of great stuff too, which we do not personally use; because none of us in the office uses cosmetics unfortunately.
Still, this makes an Elizabeth Arden product the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day. To be fair, this product is mostly made for women. You get the idea then.
The thing is, Chinese New year 2020 just passed and there are plenty of work to catch up on now. Time for shopping is very limited. So the only option for you to get a Valentine’s Day gift is via the online stores. Thank goodness for Elizabeth Arden on Shopee then.
Source: Elizabeth Arden
You may not find the most complete Elizabeth Arden experience in the online stores. You will still find a complete catalogue of Elizabeth Arden’s complete product line-up and you can easily purchase them too. Thing is, if you have no idea what you are getting yourself into, you might want to get some advise from your friends who would have more experience with these stuff.
From the online store in Shopee you can get Elizabeth Arden’s award-winning Eight Hour product range. The products supposedly improve skin conditions after eight hours of application, some fast acting stuff here. There is their new 8 Daily Defense Moisturize product as well for a healthier skin.
Of course, there are other products in the Shopee store. If Elizabeth Arden is not your cup of tea, Shopee has many more items in store for you for Valentine’s Day. No significant other to give to? Who says Valentine’s Day needs to be just about your significant other? For more information and promotion, you can head to Shopee’s online marketplace. The Shopee app is also available for free on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
UPDATE: For Valentine’s day Elizabeth will give 55% discounts on selected items at selected times too as part of Shopee’s Shocking Sale deals on the 12th of February 2020. That is tomorrow, yes. At 9 a.m. you can get a perfume, body lotion, and shower gel set at 55% off its MYR 378 price tag. At 4 p.m. you can get Elizabeth Arden’s White Tea two-piece set at MYR 116.55. At 8 p.m. you can get their perfume and body lotion set which is now priced at MYR 308.
