ARV partners with IBM to build a national digital corporate identity system for Thailand’s standardized corporate onboarding process

BANGKOK, Jan. 31, 2022 — AI & Robotics Ventures Company Limited (ARV), a subsidiary of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), announces that it is launching a blockchain-based National Digital Corporate Identity (NCID) platform, developed in collaboration with IBM (NYSE: IBM).

The platform will reduce the time it takes for corporate onboarding, also known as Know Your Customer (KYC), at banks. By improving the identity verification of corporate authorized signatories, what used to be a paper-intensive process that could take more than four weeks to complete, is reduced to less than a week. The swifter and leaner process will offer more opportunities for banks and corporates to engage in opportunities which otherwise would have been discouraged due to existing KYC processes.

The NCID platform, the first-of-its-kind digital corporate identity system in ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations), incorporates Thailand’s Electronic Transaction Development Agency standards of self-sovereign identity on public blockchain and secure cryptographic key encryption. Developed on IBM Cloud and Red Hat OpenShift, the platform is secured by the industry’s highest FIPS 140-2 Level 4 security certification, implementing the Keep-Your-Own-Key concept to support future scale and expansion.

"Today marks an important milestone where multiple parties, from government agencies, regulators to PTTEP and its banking partners, collaborate to uncover and tackle the bottle-neck challenges of the corporate onboarding process with Web3 technology," said Sinthu Satawiriya, Head of Ventures at AI and Robotics Ventures. "In collaboration with IBM, this secured platform will unlock new digital banking opportunities between corporates and banks. We believe that the platform and its system will revolutionize the access to digital finance for the entire juristic community across Thailand’s financial and business ecosystem in the near future, in alignment with the Smart Financial Infrastructure effort and ecosystem currently led by the Ministry of Finance and Bank of Thailand."

"IBM is proud to bring our superior technologies, our proven industry expertise and our hybrid cloud infrastructure to help ARV pioneer the creation and execution of this new digital ID network," said Sawat Asdaron, Managing Director of IBM Thailand and Managing Partner of IBM Consulting. "This blockchain-based digital ID platform will bring transformational impact, as not only does it speed up processing time markedly, but also will lead to the standardization of corporate identity verification process for banks in Thailand and support the journey towards comprehensive digital infrastructure of our country.

The system will go live on the ASEAN’s first-of-its-kind joint sandbox set up by the Electronic Transaction Development Agency and the Bank of Thailand in early 2022 and will be first used by PTTEP and its banking partners for corporate KYC for treasury and bank accounts.

As the anchor of the network, PTTEP has collaborated with Bank of Thailand, Electronic Transaction Development Agency and their more than 11 partner banks to pilot the platform via ARV.

About ARV: AI and Robotics Ventures Company Limited (ARV) is the venture building platform of PTTEP. We leverage artificial intelligence and robotics technologies to unlock value and create business opportunities across industries spanning air, land, and sea. Through innovation, R&D, and partnerships, we aspire to deliver unparalleled value and experiences to the ecosystems we engage with.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2022TCL, a leader in display technology and affordable, rich connected experiences, announces its second-generation wearable display glasses, NXTWEAR AIR. The new, stylish glasses combine exceptional display technology and rich, premium design with 30% less weight and a more comfortable fit than previous generation glasses, delivering the ultimate in entertainment and productivity.

TCL NXTWEAR AIR
TCL NXTWEAR AIR

"In developing the NXTWEAR AIR, we primarily focused on two areas of importance to consumers: portability and comfort," said Stefan Streit, CMO for TCL Communication. "With this new generation of NXTWEAR glasses, users can enjoy the same exceptional viewing experience as before, but with even more portability, a comfortable fit and an individual style design."

Watch, game and work anywhere as NXTWEAR AIR untethers users from offices, living rooms and small airplane screens, freeing them to enjoy their content – perfect for commuters, anyone travelling for work, or on a flight. Viewing movies on the TCL NXTWEAR AIR creates a blockbuster viewing experience. A nail-biting sporting event turns a dull journey to the office into thrilling ride, while an epic adventure film makes a long-haul flight go by in a flash.

With dual 1080p Micro OLED displays, the TCL NXTWEAR AIR delivers ample detail, punchy, rich and vibrant colors, as well as deep shadows and inky blacks. It also creates an expansive, immersive viewing environment, which is the equivalent of watching a 140-inch screen, 4 meters away – similar to being in a movie theatre.

A 47 pixels-per-degree resolution means the TCL NXTWEAR AIR delivers a cinema-like level of clarity too, and with dual speakers, it plays back stereo audio for spatial effects. For more private viewing, you can connect your own wired or wireless headphones.

TCL created its second generation of wearable display glasses, NXTWEAR AIR, with a focus on comfort and style. At only 75g with standard lens, these portable displays won’t weigh users down. For additional customization options, the NXTWEAR AIR comes with two exchangeable front lens, so its look can match each users’ individual style.

Given a heightened need for remote working, NXTWEAR AIR acts as a handy second screen for professionals and students when matched with a laptop, even if there’s no space for a monitor at home. It’s also a private way to work when managing sensitive projects in public or on a commute.

Thanks to Type-C connection, NXTWEAR AIR is also compatible with a wide range of smartphones (more than 100), supporting battery-free plug and play connectivity, and it also works with many laptops and pads.

From work to play, the NXTWEAR AIR is the ultimate immersive gaming companion as it levels up a space into a private arcade experience. When its companion device is connected to a Bluetooth controller, the experience is turbo-charged for relentless levels of gaming bliss.

LG Display Introduces Innovative Display Technologies at CES 2022

SEOUL, South Korea, Jan. 3, 2022 — LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, announced today that it will be showcasing its latest innovations at CES 2022.

LG Display's Smart Window at CES 2022
LG Display’s Smart Window at CES 2022

Under the theme of "Display Your Universe", LG Display will be introducing innovative solutions that not only cater to people’s constantly-evolving needs and various lifestyles, but also propose new experiences set to redefine the way people do ordinary tasks in their daily lives.

The company will be highlighting its differentiated and cutting-edge technologies to enhance people’s lives – including ‘OLED.EX’, the next phase of OLED’s evolution; Transparent and Flexible OLED solutions that break away from spatial limitations; ‘IPS Black’, its new high-end LCD technology for IT products; new Gaming OLED displays, as well as a 17-inch Foldable OLED display for laptops.

OLED.EX, the Next-Generation OLED TV Technology to Provide an Upgraded Viewing Experience

This year’s showstopper is LG Display’s brand-new OLED TV display ‘OLED.EX’, which will further improve picture quality to provide an upgraded viewing experience.

The next-generation OLED.EX display implements LG Display’s deuterium and personalized algorithm-based ‘EX Technology’. Compared to conventional OLED displays, brightness is boosted by 30 percent while bezel width is reduced by 30 percent from 6mm to 4mm based on 65-inch OLED displays, thereby enhancing the OLED panels’ overall picture quality and heightening the design’s premium aesthetic.

The OLED.EX name is an acronym of ‘Evolution’ and ‘eXperience’, which represents the company’s willingness of providing customers with new experiences through its ever-evolving OLED technology.

Starting from the second quarter of 2022, LG Display will integrate its groundbreaking OLED.EX technology into every OLED TV display it produces to ensure people can enjoy next-level immersive viewing experiences.

Cutting-edge OLED Innovations Delivering Unprecedented Experiences

In addition to OLED.EX, LG Display will be unveiling Transparent OLED solutions developed to further seamlessly bridge the gap between online and physical spaces. Leveraging the advantages of OLED’s self-emissive nature, the company’s Transparent OLED boasts high transparency enough to replace regular glasses as well as the ability to display graphic effects and information in excellent picture quality. In addition, considering that Transparent OLED displays flaunt a slim design and light weight, they can be widely utilized for various industries such as transportation and construction.

The company is demonstrating the benefits of Transparent OLED through an array of unique and eye-catching products including ‘Shopping Managing Showcase’ and ‘Show Window’ for shopping malls, as well as ‘Smart Window’ for offices, Transparent OLED for subway trains, and ‘OLED Shelf’ that can transform any home interior into a living space.

LG Display is set to unveil its ‘Shopping Managing Showcase,’ a Transparent OLED display fitted inside a wooden display stand, which will reinvent the offline shopping experience. Ideal for luxurious department stores, the Shopping Managing Showcase can display eye-catching visual content on the screen that harmonizes with the products on display behind to better grab the attention of shoppers and elevate the ambience of the place.

Another example of how LG Display is redefining the shopping experience is its newly upgraded ‘Show Window’. Originally having comprised a single Transparent OLED display, the Show Window now utilizes four 55-inch Transparent OLED displays, maximizing the advertising potential of window displays by delivering a more unique and informative shopping experience.

When it comes to the office, LG Display will be showcasing its ‘Smart Window‘ which is specially designed for the office of the future. By applying this Transparent OLED technology to conference room windows, the advanced Smart Window can help professional teams maximize their productivity by transforming into an expansive screen for video conferencing and presentations without compromising the open view of a normal glass window.

LG Display will be also showcasing Transparent OLED for subway trains. Designed to replace existing subway train windows, the Transparent OLED displays provide useful information regarding subway schedules, weather, and news all the while giving passengers a clear view of the outside scenery. When fully applied in the transportation and mobility industry, the Transparent OLEDs are expected to provide augmented reality-like experiences such as displaying advertisements or relevant information regarding famous landmarks in real-time as the train is passing by.

To modernize home life, LG Display will be introducing its latest concept, ‘OLED Shelf,’ which combines two Transparent OLED displays, one above the other, and seamlessly blends into any living room decoration while adding a touch of elegance as it is hanging off from the shelf on the wall. The innovative OLED Shelf is perfect for displaying TV shows or gallery paintings while running in its Always on Display Mode, further demonstrating Transparent OLED displays’ ability to transform any home interior into a living space that exudes modernity.

Another innovation ready to make global headlines is the company’s ‘Virtual Ride’. The innovative Virtual Ride is an indoor stationary bicycle with three vertically-curved 55-inch OLED displays in front of and above it. The Virtual Ride demonstrates superior all-around flexible performance along with vivid, lifelike picture quality from the OLED screens that allow riders to carry out their favorite outdoor activity in the comfort of home.

Next up is the ‘Media Chair’ which combines a comfortable reclining chair with a curved Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) display. Leveraging CSO’s remarkable ability to emit sound from the display itself, the Media Chair unlocks a whole new experience that allows the user to relax while enjoying an immersive, theater-like experience at home.

Moreover, LG Display will be showcasing Gaming OLED displays. Its Gaming OLED range, which has already received high praise from the gaming community, flaunts a response time 10 times faster than conventional LCD counterparts without irritating ghosting effects, to allow the user to enjoy excellent image quality and an immersive gameplay to date. The company’s highly-touted Gaming OLED also provides an even higher level of eye comfort for long gaming sessions without the sore and fatigued eyes during and afterwards. LG Display will bring its 48-inch and 42-inch Gaming OLED displays to the market in 2022.

LG Display will be showing off its 17-inch Foldable OLED for laptops. The display is almost entirely crease-free at the point of folding, letting users enjoy one device in various ways and forms – from a tablet to a laptop to even a portable monitor. What’s more, the screen is also equipped with the company’s touchscreen solutions that enable people to use the screen with either a pen or one’s fingers depending on their preference or the task being undertaken.

‘IPS Black’, A High-End, Premium LCD Technology for IT products

For the first time ever, LG Display will introduce ‘IPS Black’, a high-end and premium LCD technology for IT products. The IPS Black displays boast a black level 35 percent deeper than existing IPS products, which enables extreme clarity and precise color accuracy, essential for professions where success lies in the details. What’s more, the IPS Black significantly lowers the level of blue light and flaunts a nearly-borderless design on all sides of the display that heightens immersion and looks great anywhere. LG Display will be introducing its IPS Black technology at CES 2022 through a 27-inch UHD monitor.

LG Display’s cutting-edge and innovative display products will be showcased through its virtual exhibition on CES official website only for its customers.

By applying this Transparent OLED technology to conference room windows, the advanced Smart Window can help professional teams maximize their productivity by transforming into an expansive screen for video conferencing, presentations, and entertainment without compromising the open view of a normal glass window. And since it saves up space by eliminating the need for large TVs or monitors, it adds a sense of openness to the workplace.

LG Display is the only company boasting proprietary technology of large Transparent OLED displays in the world. The company commercialized 55-inch Transparent OLED displays with 40 percent transparency in 2019, and since then the company’s expansive and versatile Transparent OLED displays have been applied in various spaces outside the home such as shopping malls, museums, and subways.

Transparent OLED technology leverages the advantages of OLED’s completely unique self-emitting nature in several ways. Considering that Transparent OLED displays flaunt a slim design, high transparency and light weight, they can be widely utilized for various industries.

According to a recent study by leading global consulting firm the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the global transparent OLED display market is predicted to expand continuously at a compound annual growth rate of 116 percent over this decade, reaching a total value of around USD 2.7 billion by 2025 and USD 10 billion by 2030.

"With our industry-leading Transparent OLED technology, we will continue to introduce innovative high-end solutions that allow our customers to enjoy unprecedented experiences," said Lee Hyeon-woo, Senior Vice President and Head of Life Display Business Group at LG Display.

The brand of optical experts offers a new option for glasses wearers who want to enjoy immersive, glasses-free and cinema-like experience at home

HONG KONG, Nov. 12, 2021 — GOOVIS, the product brand of NED Optics, a technical leading company in the XR Head-Mounted Display (HMD) field, has created a new segment of visual devices. Different from many AR/VR HMDs on the market, GOOVIS HMDs are a series of portable personal cinema products that allow users to watch and enjoy videos without damaging their eyes or experiencing any dizziness. Supported by its patented optical technologies, GOOVIS HMDs not only provide an immersive, glasses-free and cinema-like experience for movie viewers and game players, but are also applicable for different industrial settings that require simulated training or remote control.

Experts in near-eye displays, the team behind GOOVIS is committed to producing premium quality products. This commitment extends to GOOVIS HMDs. Preventing short-sightedness, dizziness, or eye damage, the HMD features an ultra-high-definition screen – 2 x 0.71" Sony AMOLED micro-display, with only 1.5% distortion, 1920×1080 x2 resolution, and PPI 3147. The device ensures the highest clarity with a 42 PPD (pixel per degree), which is 100% higher than many other VR devices on the market.

Equipped with the company’s optical technology that supports 300 degrees for hyperopia and 800 degrees for myopia, the HMD allows users to easily adjust the device for enjoying a clear and 3D stereoscopic viewing experience without glasses and with less strain on the eyes. The diopter adjustment range could be adjusted individually for the left or right eye with independent controls. In addition, the device itself is lightweight (only 200g), portable, and comfortable to wear, marking it a better choice for clear and high-quality XR multimedia experiences at home or on the go.

The device can also connect to Wi-Fi and features a remote control that provides a 2D or 3D cinema viewing experience anytime, anywhere.

Dr. Huajun Peng, Founder and CEO of NED Optics said, "People always pursue a better experience of viewing; this is a major trend. Thanks to their properties and features, ultra-high-definition head-mounted display devices like GOOVIS HMD, will eventually make their way into millions of homes, similar to computers, TV, and mobile phones. Samsung and IBM Announce Call for Code Challenge to Honor Everyday Heroes

Samsung and IBM continue to build upon long-standing strategic partnership with challenge for developers using Samsung and IBM technology

SEOUL, South Korea and ARMONK, N.Y., Oct. 27, 2021 — Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced the Call for Code Honoring Everyday Heroes Challenge for enterprise developers to encourage the development of new technology solutions to help everyday heroes. The Challenge, which was unveiled during the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC), will look to address challenges faced by delivery personnel, childcare workers, healthcare frontline workers, educators, and many more who have been invaluable to society during the Covid-19 pandemic. Application submissions will be evaluated by a judging panel from IBM and Samsung and the winner will receive a cash prize, Samsung devices, and deployment support for their solution.

The Challenge is part of the broader Call for Code global program, which invites developers and problem solvers around the world to build and contribute to open source technology projects that address some of the most pressing global issues.

"Our everyday heroes have tirelessly served us throughout the pandemic and we want to make their lives, and the lives of others around the world, easier and productive with new levels of connectivity and insights from technology," said KC Choi, EVP and Head of Global Mobile B2B Team, Samsung Electronics. "To achieve this, innovation must be open. That’s why we’ve been working closely with IBM as well as our valued developer communities using open source platforms. It’s also why I’m honored to serve as an ‘Eminent Judge‘ for this year’s 2021 Call for Code Global Challenge, along with other worldwide leaders in sustainability, business and technology. I look forward to seeing the submissions for both Call for Code challenges come to life."

Submissions for the Call for Code Honoring Everyday Heroes Challenge must be able to run on a Samsung tablet, smartphone, and/or wearable device and make use of one or more IBM open hybrid cloud technologies such as IBM Cloud or IBM Watson. Participants will also have access to Samsung toolkits, as well as data from The Weather Company. The deadline for submissions is November 20th, with the winner announced on December 9th. In addition to Samsung technology and a cash prize from IBM, the winner will receive support from both companies to help bring their solution to life to make a real difference for everyday heroes.

"IBM and Samsung have a long history of proven success working together to improve business outcomes for clients and also for social good," said Bob Lord, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Ecosystems at IBM. "Earlier this year, IBM, Samsung, and others worked together to deploy the 2019 Call for Code Global Challenge winning solution, Prometeo. I look forward to seeing how developers can use our open technologies now to benefit some of the most deserving people in the world today, our everyday heroes."

The partnership between Samsung and IBM extends over 30 years, starting with work on semiconductors and now mobility, AI, 5G, Industry 4.0 and networks. At SDC, Samsung and IBM Consulting are announcing a collaboration to modernize hybrid work environments with mobile experiences optimized for the Galaxy Z Fold3, co-designed with major financial services institutions.

Additionally, to accelerate the convergence of Industry 4.0 between cloud-native applications and mobility, IBM and Samsung are researching ways to bring containerized AI workloads to Samsung Android devices with IBM Edge Application Manager. This effort focuses on using containers on Samsung devices to enable workloads to be flexibly deployed, managed and processed across premises such as factories, retail stores, warehouses, hotels and distribution centers to help drive faster development of powerful new use cases for mobile and edge computing.

Samsung and IBM continue to work together to create services that enable businesses and enterprise developers to take full advantage of cutting-edge networks, mobility and analytics.

The Call for Code Honoring Everyday Heroes Challenge starts now. Information on eligibility and how to register is available here: ibm.biz/CallforCode-Samsung
