Panasonic Unveils New Lineup of Smart TVs in Malaysia; Priced from MYR2,699

Panasonic Malaysia is making a comeback and they’re trying to make it big! The company was once renowned for its cutting-edge TVs that were built to last. Now, the company is announcing its latest range of six cutting-edge TVs that are set to redefine your home entertainment experience.

Panasonic TV 02

These new TVs are designed to meet the demands of today’s high-resolution entertainment needs. Panasonic is looking to bring cinema-level experiences into your living room and turn it into your entertainment utopia.

Panasonic’s new lineup of TVs is built for everyone. The company isn’t bringing one or two models to market, instead, it’s coming with a complete lineup offering four different series with a diverse set of features.

The Panasonic MZ2000 Flagship OLED series

Leading the four new series is the MZ200 – Panasonic’s flagship OLED TV for this year. The series will be available in 65-inch (TH-65MZ2000K) and 77-inch (TH-77MZ2000K) sizes.

Panasonic touts this as the ultimate home theatre experience. It comes equipped with Panasonic’s new custom module Master OLED Ultimate. The new module allows the TV to achieve a remarkable increase in brightness, offering a peak brightness boost of around 150%. This is thanks to the Micro Lens Array and multi-layer cooling that Panasonic has developed that allows for more efficient cooling. The HCX Pro AI Processor ensures accurate colours, striking contrast, and exceptional clarity. It can even intelligently optimise the colours based on the genre of content on screen.

Filmmaker Mode in the MZ2000 ensures content is viewed as intended, regardless of the lighting conditions. Gamers will appreciate its NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatibility for tear- and stutter-free gaming. True Game Mode brings colour accuracy features used in the movie industry into gaming, delivering lifelike visuals.

Sound matters too! The MZ2000 offers the Bass Booster algorithm and Panasonic’s 360° Soundscape all-in-one TV audio package tuned by Technics, with Dolby Atmos, providing an immersive sound experience.

The MX940 & MX950 LED TVs

Up next is Panasonic’s LED TVs. This year’s offerings come in two flavours the flagship MX950 Mini LED series and the MX940 Full Array LED Series. The Flagship MX950 Mini LED series comes with options of 65-inch (TH-65MX950K) and 75-inch (TH-75MX950K).

Panasonic TV 01

Under the MX950 series, Panasonic’s flagship 4K LED TV features a Mini LED panel for brighter pictures and stunning contrast. Local Dimming Ultra eliminates the common “halo effect” in images while HDR brings more detail with a wider colour gamut. Integrated speakers and a built-in woofer create a Dynamic Theatre Sound, immersing you in the movie.

Huawei Silently Reveals the HUAWEI Mate60 Series Complete with HarmonyOS and 5G

Huawei silently launched its Mate60 series, featuring Harmony OS, a whole new set of XMAGE cameras and even 5G

Huawei Mate 60 Series 1

In a rather uncharacteristic move, Huawei has quietly rolled out its latest additions to the smartphone arena – the Huawei Mate60 Pro and the Mate60. Let’s dive into what makes these devices worth the buzz.

HUAWEI Mate60 Pro

The Mate60 Pro comes with a 6.82-inch 10-bit LTPO OLED screen boasting a resolution of 2720 x 1260 pixels complete with an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate. Huawei has also integrated a second-generation Kunlun Glass for added durability.

  • Huawei Mate 60 Series 1
  • Huawei Mate 60 Series 2
  • Huawei Mate 60 Series 5
  • Huawei Mate 60 Series 6

However, it’s the triple punch holes at the top of the display that steal the spotlight. Here, Huawei houses the selfie camera and a 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor. This clever setup enables facial recognition and Face ID-like features. The 13 MP ultrawide selfie camera, paired with sensors and lasers, ensures sharp and secure face mapping.

Flipping the phone reveals a circular camera module housing three more cameras. The headliner is a 50-megapixel main camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF). The camera setup was previously featured in the Mate50 Pro and P60 Pro. The 50-megapixel sensor features a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4-f/4.0 variable aperture. This is complemented by a 12-megapixel, ultrawide-angle camera with an f/2.2 lens and a third 48-megapixel sensor with an f/3.0 telephoto lens with OIS and AF.

The Mate60 Pro even features satellite messaging capabilities. However, this feature is only available in China.l The Pro also sports a 5,000 mAh battery that supports rapid 88W wired and 50W wireless charging, as well as 20W reverse wireless charging.

Huawei’s Mate60 series is launching with HarmonyOS 4. making it the first device to showcase this UI out of the box. Huawei Mate 60

The Mate60 shares many features with its Pro sibling. However, there are a few differences that set it apart.

The display on the Mate60 is a 6.69-inch LTPO OLED with a resolution of 1216 x 2688 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Like the Mate 60 Pro, it also features second-gen Kunlun Glass for added protection.

Huawei Mate 60 Series 3
Source: HUAWEI VMALL

The camera setup is slightly different, with a 12-megapixel periscope offering 5x optical zoom replacing the 48-megapixel telephoto lens found on the Mate 60 Pro. The main 50-megapixel camera with a variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture and the 12-megapixel ultrawide modules are the same.

The Mate60 is likely powered by the same in-house Kirin 9000S SoC as its Pro counterpart and features 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Its 4,750 mAh battery supports 66W wired charging, offering a slightly reduced charging speed compared to the Pro model.

Like the Mate60 Pro, it supports satellite messaging in China and comes in four colour options.

Pricing & Availability

The HUAWEI Mate60 Pro comes in an array of striking colours including White, Green, Purple, and Black, with glass or faux leather materials. Prices for the Mate60 Pro start at CNY 6,999 (USD$960/MYR4,468.68) for the 512GB version. The regular Mate60 comes in at CNY 5,999 ($824/MYR3,830.21).

Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 Gaming Monitor Lands in Malaysia for MYR 9,499 Onward

Samsung launched their updated ultimate gaming monitor back in CES 2023 in January. To be fair, CES 2023 saw Samsung showcasing several versions of their ultimate gaming monitor, the Odyssey G9. One of them was the Odyssey Neo G9 that packs dual UHD resolution on a 57-inch curved panel. While it does sound nice, only NVIDIA’s most powerful GeForce RTX 4090 seems to fit the bill for that display. You might even struggle getting the most out of the monitor even with NVIDIA’s most extreme GPU. The Odyssey Neo G9 is a little unrealistic then. But what about the other monitor Samsung introduced? What about the Odyssey OLED G9?

The Odyssey OLED G9 is not necessarily a new recipe from Samsung. Samsung already made the Odyssey G9 in the prior years. It is an out-of-this-world, hardware-pushing, borderline overkill of a gaming monitor that offers 49 inches of ultra-wide experience in dual QHD resolution at a curve. That also means you do not need to lean to one side of the display to see what is happening at the edge, simply turn your head and you are there. It was, in its day, the ultimate gaming monitor for the ultimate gamers. You want one, until. CES 2023 arrives, and Samsung says they can make this recipe even better.

Odyssey OLED G9 (8)
Source: Samsung

It is a simple recipe; just add OLED into the mix. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is now born. While it is new in Malaysia, the product has seen the light of day in other regions, including South Korea and the United States. No matter though, that was a month ago and now it is officially arriving in Malaysia.

For starters, if you missed our CES 2023 coverage on Samsung’s ultimate gaming monitor, it offers 49 inches still at 1800R curvature. It still allows you to just swivel your head to see everything clearly and easily from a single spot. You still get the 32:9 dual QHD resolution from the older regular Odyssey G9. It even comes standard with 240Hz refresh rate for ultra-smooth frame rates when possible, and 0.3ms gray-to-gray response time for ultra-fast and responsive gaming. It still comes with AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro for tear-free gaming and visual experience for even more immersion when you game. There is also a new CoreSync and Core Lighting+ that cleverly lights up in RGB and according to what you see on your display to add even more immersion to your games and movies. If you do not want a bulky speaker set-up to take up space on your desk, there are even two 5W speakers to work with.

The biggest change to it, and its party piece, is the OLED panel that this one comes with. It now offers a true HDR experience with DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400 standard. That also means that you are not just getting vivid colours, but an inky black that is more accurately represented than before. You can even start to appreciate the incredibly vivid and bright colours that the Odyssey OLED G9 can now offer thanks to the typical OLED colour reproduction.

It is not just games that will pop on the display. You can now opt for the Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC) to come with TizenOS built right into the monitor to directly reach OTT services like Netflix or Prime Video. Since the display real estate is expansive enough, you can even opt to work with multiple views (Multi View) for the ultimate multitasking experience. It is modernized too, to take on the future world. It offers HDMI 2.1, Micro HDMI 2.1 and Display Port 1.4 inputs with Auto Source Switch+ so that you can work with multiple devices quickly. They redesigned the stands too, sturdier than ever while still allowing you to easily adjust its height and tilt.

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is now available for MYR 9,499 (G93SC) onward. For MYR 500 on top of that (MYR 9,999), you can get the Odyssey OLED G9 with smart TV functionalities. You can head over to the nearest Samsung authorised dealer or Samsung official stores to get your hands on one of these gaming monitors. You can even head to their online stores to make a purchase. If you do get your monitor between now to 31st of August 2023 though, you get to buy your Odyssey OLED G9 for MYR 8,074 and MYR 8,499 respectively.
